when I was first starting out, fresh out of school, the shop owner taught me to break down fades and tapers into 3rds just like this. never fails.
it's now how I teach people as well.
this is some gold people. give this dude a thumbs up. 👍👍🍻🍻
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
This probably the best fade tutorial/technique that I've see on YT and I've watched a lot..
Appreciate that 🙏🏼
So I have been cutting my own hair for the last like 8 years or so but only been taking it seriously the last 3 months. This video really brought a lot of clarity to make things a little easier for me. Looking forward to do doing some sick fades for my peeps!
Yessir! Glad to hear it! Just keep getting those reps in
Ive been in barber school for a year now im in a last 100 hours this just helped with new clients to help learn their head better‼️
Almost done!!!
Out of all the videos, I've watched this help me the most putting three fingers literally guide you and tells you what to fade. Thanks bro
Bro this is an awesome way to explain a fade. 5 stars brother
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Bro thanks so much keeping the ½ guard and 1 ½ guard open half way made my fades and tapers so nice I really needed that I appreciate brotha
Glad I could help 🙌🏻
What does this do exactly??
Not a barber, but I did start cutting my husband's hair after covid when shops closed. I have watched all your technique videos, and it's helped so much! Thank you, and keep throwing out good vids🥰
Also, your teaching style is spot on! Easy to learn🙌🏼🙌🏼
Love it!! 🙏🏼
This is a ‘menspire’ technique used to teach beginners how to space out there guides. 👍🏻
Bro your fades are insane and is that ur car?
Nice didn’t know they did this
I been cutting hair for a while like 3 yrs freshly new Comestology school but this technique has really been a help I understand so well now I have been trying different techniques and they just didn’t seem to fit with comprehension and creativity. But this I literally can do and grasp this like a glove. 🥊 Appreciate it the vids 1️⃣💈 to another clip on !!!🤟🏾💈🤙🏾💕
I have 2 questions
1/2
When u are blending them are u pushing up and down or flicking if so what kind of angle
2/2
My clippers are 0.45-0.85 so do I still use 1 guard
Just going in and cutting the hair I want to cut then coming out off the head. You still use all the guards no matter the clipper
I am new to barbering and having a horrible time learning this fade! Watching this video helps make sense of it! Will try it out for sure!
As an adhd barber ive been getting lost and taking waaaay to long bc of it 😅 the past 2 weeks that ive been doing this have been a night and day difference 🙌🏼 thank you, thank you, thank you!
Love to hear it! Glad it helped you
Try taking less steps to the process.. guard skipping etc
Nice love your videos Im a stylist who has worked 42 years. Thanks for teaching me the fade properly. 😊
Once i get my .5 guard im trying this because youve made things the most straight forward out of all the crazy amount of videos ive watched
Good to hear!
You show how to give fades really well will be using your technique tmr🫡
Appreciate it 🙏🏼
perfect explanation. TY:)
One of the best tutorial’s I’ve seen.
If your doing like a low fade can you still use the same technique even tho you don't have space for all 3 fingers
If you don’t feel you have that much space it just lets you know to tighten up the guidelines
3.5 fingers for low fade?
Nothing like a good straightforward tip everyone can use. Good stuff man! Gonna try this one.
Appreciate it
You have the best tutorials and explanations ❤
i always hated the way some people swear by this technique because sometimes not everyone has a nice headshape and will have a balanced fade like that. some guards will have to be smaller than others to achieve a look. But its a very good fundamental to know
It’s a good way to fit most, and let you know when it won’t fit and you have to tighten up your guidelines
La prima tecnica è la mia preferita e le tue sfumature sono fantastiche. Grazie per aver condiviso con noi la tua arte ✂️
Thank you!
that last beast was dope and the outro was smooooth
Just started cutting out of my garage and this DEF helped me out. Thank you bro 👍🙏
Thank you for this didactic video. Very educational, well explained. Nice to take this with me to my lessons.
Thank you!👏🙏
You are welcome!
This is so helpfu. I’ve always had difficulties with this part this video just made it crystal clear thank you ! ❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
Would this be considered a mid fade? If I wanted to do a high fade, would I use 2 fingers?
Yeah it’s a mid fade. For a high fade you wouldn’t leave as much weight and would just shift the whole thing up a step. Also can just tighten up your guidelines. There would still be the same steps whether high, mid, or low
You are absolutely great and the technique was quite informative.. but I would love to ask will that be very necessary when dealing with different clients whenever they want to have any type of hair cut fades?
It’s just to give you an idea. Can be tailored to different cuts
Or just for a mid fade? I'm trying to learn but I want to know if it applies for all fades
Sean really out here doing the Lord’s work. Blessing us time and time again. 👊🏽💯
I try!
Same thing with the burst im telling you if you didn’t come up with the idea for teaching the finger technique than you can claim it as part of a teaching curriculum at barber schools around the world. It works and easily learned and can help with part of the learning process. I’m teaching one person and I’m going to use this technique for see his reaction and then ill tap in back with you and let you know how it goes.BLESSINGS AND AMAZING INSTRUCTOR .
Appreciate it my brotha
I’m starting to cut hair and this helped me out allot compared to the first cut 🙏🏽 good vid
Glad to hear it
Most definitely using this technique when I do my next fade in barber school this helped me a lot!!! Great video as always Sean God Bless🙏🏽
Glad to hear it!
Thank you so much! I been kinda struggling with this and getting lost in the sauce. Definitely helped and cut my time down ❤🙏🏼
Love to hear it 👊🏼
Hey Sean, first of all. Thank you for all your videos! SO helpful. I’m about to finish at Barber School. And still not comfortable with the basics unfortunately. But when you put in the open Clipper guideline, do you flick up? Or are all your guidelines hard?
Omg this is so helpful because I struggle to measure the 3 spots thank you I'm 3 finger me a dude until I can't no more 😅
Thanks men
You are the best barber
❤
Your a better teacher than my teacher 😅 . Thanks a bunch Sean for all the great content! ❤
Wow, thanks!
Very nice process Sean simple and ez I will use this in my studio
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
my fav. pocedure for fade step by step. 🔥
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I’m a new barber, just starting and I’m thinking a lot abt this ( can I use the same guards steps I used for a fade, for every fade ?)
Can you use the 3 finger technique for a mid and high fade
Could i use these steps for tapers or just fades
For anything!
This is the way I cut in the shop and I love it. From Brooklyn ny & I use the master cordless
👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Doing big things now cause that’s a great way of introducing new upcoming barbers to actually use their hands and practice the technique and possibly even trend setting techniques. Always have been dropping gems 💎🦾💎💎💪💎💎💎💈✅🌱🍒🧐♟️♟️♟️♟️♟️💨🔑🍒 im actually doing this on my own head and yes very good teaching methods.BLESSINGS
I try!
I needed this.!!! Can you make a vid on taper using this method??
Possibly. It operates the same way just in the taper area
Dude, I feel rich knowing this now 🙏🏾 thanks a lot. That remove stress. It’s a killer video
Glad it helped!!!
How is open 3/4 with clicking lever and without
Thank you so much. What about high fade ?
You’d just start higher and condense the steps a little bit if the room wasn’t there
Thank for the great tips i have been cutting my own hair now
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Does this apply to all fades?
Man U just unlock many levels 😩🧠
Yessir 🙌🏻
Solid information brother 💯💯💯🙏🏾🙌🏾🔥 keep blessing us with Gems fam 🇨🇦 💎
You know I will!
Great tutorial. Thanks Sean
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
May i know how tostart?
What number of guide? And what number click lever.
From botom or top.
It’s all in the video! I have a fade steps video that explains even further
I would like to see a video of clipper over comb, please?
I have a few. Just search Seancutshair clipper over comb
Ayyyyooo!!! Wish my instructors showed me this. Ima year in so Ima definitely try it out fs.
Hope it helps!!!
Thanks Sean , I’m currently trying to teach a fade to my new staff member this will help me explain it and break it down! Cheers Bayside Barbers Australia 🇦🇺💈✌️💇🏻♂️
Nice! Hope it works!
What is your preference for bending into those weight lines? clipper over comb, shear over comb? 2 guard with lever play?
Usually a larger guard and blend down like 4-3-2 then do the fade into the 2
Blending the fade is the most challenging part for me personally.
Yeah usually is for most
Ty so much, u just make my fade so much more easyar, thanks from Portugal bro , and keep going 💈💈
Welcome!!!
How this technique will work on high bald fade , or high fade when there is no room for the 3 fingers?
🐐ed technique
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
So what if somebody was wolfing for a long time how would you apply this technique
You’d clear the bulk on the sides down to a 3 or 4 then start the fade
🔥🔥🔥 video i learned alot ..im attending a barber seminar this upcoming month to learn more about cutting hair .. ill be sure to use this techinque ..bless u and your fam bro 🫡
Appreciate it! Good luck 👊🏼
Amazing video, thank you for the Gems homie . Yo big Sean Is there a similar technique to determine Taper guide lines.
Can do the same exact way. If there’s not enough room you just tighten it up a little bit
Ruth why you ain’t show how to do the back to for ppl who trying to cut there own hair
Just curious how you pwrsonally decide how short to take the sides for the initial weight line.
I'm gonna give this a try in my shop. Thanks
Go for it! 👌🏻
Hi there! New barber here 😭
For fades do you start with the 1/2 and go up 1 and 2 open? Is it always going to be 0-2?
appreciate the lesson man, love how you used two different examples to show how versatile this technique can be.. Forever grateful man for the knowledge you’ve provided. Thank you
Glad it was helpful! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks bro ❤u unlock a new skill for me 💯
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
well explained ... thanx for the vid
You're welcome!
Do u take the guidelines all around the head and then take them out the same way or do u finish the fade on half the head and do it the same on the other side ?
I usually just do each side then the back
Ima use this technique next time I cut my sons hair this is easily explained
You got it!
so if you do the three finger technique what type fade are you doing ?
It’s not about the type of fade. If you want a low fade you just start lower, high fade start higher. Still can use the three finger technique to visualize your guidelines
@@Seancutshairthank you for the the info !!
Are those the Marty Blendz guards?
Yes the skittles set
Does this technic only works for fades or does it work for tapers too?
It works for any cut, just the shape or location of the fade changes
@@Seancutshair thanks a lot and thank god for your promo code it has saved me a lot of money
Official 💯 i definitely subscribe 💈💈💈🤔💯
Good work bro..
Thanks ✌️
This looks like it makes it much simpler
It does!
what if they want a low fade or a high fade though ❤
Just start lower or higher
@@Seancutshair is there anything wrong with creating a ceiling with number three short, then creating bald line, and fading down to the bald line though the numbers from 3 to 0 ? instead of making guidelines? thanks m8
@@Sir-zl2nq if you can keep organized not a problem
@@Seancutshair excellent! its what iv aleays done! usually comes out fine but can take pretty long - im just so scared to put that 0.5 open blade guideline in 😂😂😂
Great video bro
Appreciate it
Always great content, sharing knowledge. Killin it!
I try! Thanks!
That was 🔥🔥🔥well explained thank you
Thank you 🙏🏼
hey quick question about hitting the line with the corner of the clippers, is there a difference between which corner am I using and which way Im going?
Not necessarily but you need to cut against the direction the hair is growing. Sometimes one corner will hit it better than the other
How can this work with detachable clippers????
I don’t use detachables but would have to find equivalent steps with your blades and apply the same system
@@Seancutshair please do.
Ok yeah. It's 10 pm and I really want to try this on somebody lol. I'll just have to wait till Wednesday.
Ha lmk how it works!
Techics are good but honestly two many STEPS for OGS GOOD FOR ROOKIES MAN GOOD VIDEO GBLESS U SEAN GREAT HELP FOR ROOKIES
Yeah obviously once you know what you’re doing you can eliminate some steps but new barbers need a full breakdown to walk through and make sure they get it right
How do you determine with a mid high or low fade tho?
Same way. But if you don’t have enough room then you know you need to tighten up your guidelines
wow this is really helpful thanks
Glad to hear that!
Brilliant, thank you, is this just for a low fade?
No this can work for anything. It will also show you when you don’t have as much room and you’ll know you need to condense your fade
@@Seancutshair thank you. what do you do differently for say, a high fade then?
What about medium or high fades the first one looked like a low fade and then obvious DC has some recession and bigger vertical bars, so there was more room
Just change where you start your guidelines. Also if you feel there’s not room for 3 fingers then you know to tighten up your guidelines a little bit
Special thank for you 🙏🏻
Welcome!
Great Video
Cool, thanks....i always run out of room , feel like i gotta start saluting after my high and tight sometimes haha
😂😂😂
I'm going to try this 3 finger technique ✂️✂️✂️✂️💈💈💈💈💯🙋💪🤗🙏
Go for it! 👊🏼
@@Seancutshair no doubt
what kind of clippers do you use?
I use all kinds of diffuser stuff. These are the lo pro fx from babyliss
Can you do a no lever fade plz
