when I was first starting out, fresh out of school, the shop owner taught me to break down fades and tapers into 3rds just like this. never fails.
it's now how I teach people as well.
this is some gold people. give this dude a thumbs up. 👍👍🍻🍻
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Ive been in barber school for a year now im in a last 100 hours this just helped with new clients to help learn their head better‼️
Almost done!!!
Bro this is an awesome way to explain a fade. 5 stars brother
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Calling something the "3-Finger Technique" is crazy.
LMAOOO
I am new to barbering and having a horrible time learning this fade! Watching this video helps make sense of it! Will try it out for sure!
Nice love your videos Im a stylist who has worked 42 years. Thanks for teaching me the fade properly. 😊
Most definitely using this technique when I do my next fade in barber school this helped me a lot!!! Great video as always Sean God Bless🙏🏽
Glad to hear it!
You show how to give fades really well will be using your technique tmr🫡
Appreciate it 🙏🏼
This is so helpfu. I’ve always had difficulties with this part this video just made it crystal clear thank you ! ❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
I’m starting to cut hair and this helped me out allot compared to the first cut 🙏🏽 good vid
Glad to hear it
i always hated the way some people swear by this technique because sometimes not everyone has a nice headshape and will have a balanced fade like that. some guards will have to be smaller than others to achieve a look. But its a very good fundamental to know
It’s a good way to fit most, and let you know when it won’t fit and you have to tighten up your guidelines
Blending the fade is the most challenging part for me personally.
Yeah usually is for most
Thank you so much! I been kinda struggling with this and getting lost in the sauce. Definitely helped and cut my time down ❤🙏🏼
Love to hear it 👊🏼
This is a ‘menspire’ technique used to teach beginners how to space out there guides. 👍🏻
Bro your fades are insane and is that ur car?
Nice didn’t know they did this
Man U just unlock many levels 😩🧠
Yessir 🙌🏻
Solid information brother 💯💯💯🙏🏾🙌🏾🔥 keep blessing us with Gems fam 🇨🇦 💎
You know I will!
Good work bro..
Thanks ✌️
I'm gonna give this a try in my shop. Thanks
Go for it! 👌🏻
Ruth why you ain’t show how to do the back to for ppl who trying to cut there own hair
Thank for the great tips i have been cutting my own hair now
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I needed this.!!! Can you make a vid on taper using this method??
Possibly. It operates the same way just in the taper area
Ima use this technique next time I cut my sons hair this is easily explained
You got it!
hey quick question about hitting the line with the corner of the clippers, is there a difference between which corner am I using and which way Im going?
Not necessarily but you need to cut against the direction the hair is growing. Sometimes one corner will hit it better than the other
Cool, thanks....i always run out of room , feel like i gotta start saluting after my high and tight sometimes haha
😂😂😂
Hi there! New barber here 😭
For fades do you start with the 1/2 and go up 1 and 2 open? Is it always going to be 0-2?
So what if somebody was wolfing for a long time how would you apply this technique
You’d clear the bulk on the sides down to a 3 or 4 then start the fade
DOPE! Thank you.
No problem!
Beast Mode.
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Dope video thanks for posting
Appreciate it
wow this is really helpful thanks
Glad to hear that!
Can you do a video on real coarse/curly hair
When I get some
Thank you so much. What about high fade ?
You’d just start higher and condense the steps a little bit if the room wasn’t there
I'm going to try this 3 finger technique ✂️✂️✂️✂️💈💈💈💈💯🙋💪🤗🙏
Go for it! 👊🏼
@@Seancutshair no doubt
so if you do the three finger technique what type fade are you doing ?
It’s not about the type of fade. If you want a low fade you just start lower, high fade start higher. Still can use the three finger technique to visualize your guidelines
@@Seancutshairthank you for the the info !!
did the first fade line have a gard on?1:32
First guideline is no guard open
What about medium or high fades the first one looked like a low fade and then obvious DC has some recession and bigger vertical bars, so there was more room
Just change where you start your guidelines. Also if you feel there’s not room for 3 fingers then you know to tighten up your guidelines a little bit
You never use a Fade blade? but as i can see this is actually a fade blade? or is this a fusion?
It’s a fusion blade yep 👌🏻
In my opinion for a beginner the upward fading tech is easier
Reason:by blending the zero line there is still the harsh 0.5 line up
So they gonna stay below the line and guarattee not gonna take the blind to high as while they are blending there is alway a guid to stay below and not going higher the guide line while blending..
I agree. That’s why I always teach guidelines. Otherwise it’s too easy to get lost
🎉🎉🎉🎉 fire
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I do it, but can clean up the fade with 0,5 half open :((((
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Brilliant, thank you, is this just for a low fade?
No this can work for anything. It will also show you when you don’t have as much room and you’ll know you need to condense your fade
@@Seancutshair thank you. what do you do differently for say, a high fade then?
dude i have 3mm guard and 6mm guard what i do ? its a new machine man.
A 3mm is a 1 guard and a 6mm is a 2
@@Seancutshair thanks for replying me dude. I'm a right, that i can fade with 1.5 guard between 6-9 mm line ? Last question from me promisse i hope you answer me 💙
Nice bro 😁❤
Thanks 🔥
Do you have classes? Or like a group?

@@Seancutshair thanks man, i wanna try to make my own fade cut first time in a couple weeks wish me luck
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Personally not a fan of this technique. Most haircuts you could use this and
it would work. However some haircuts require you to spread the blend out more or less than this. I have clients that get a high taper or mid high fades and they naturally have much smaller room to work with and if i did the 3 finger technique they wouldnt have a fade they would be bald. Also people have different finger widths
It’s just to give a general idea. Isn’t meant to always work. Beginners have absolutely no idea how big to make guidelines or where to start the bald line so this at least gives them an idea
@Seancutshair Agreed i just think we need to be careful when teaching people because some people will learn this technique and apply it to every haircut they do and they could land themselves into some trouble
Is there a fade technique where you can fade from top to bottom...starting from big to small? Like a number 2 down to the bald line? Ive noticed I get a better blend when I go from top to bottom versus starting from bottom to top.
I still debulk, do my bald line, clipper open, then #1 open and #2 to get my guid lines..I just then start from the top then work my way down.
Yeah you’re doing it how I’d recommend. Fading down completely without any guidelines is definitely difficult but can be done
I do the guide lines, the bald lime, the #1 and #2...it's just instead of starting off at the bottom, clipper closed and work your way up...I start at the top and work down from #2 down to clipper closed
I should’ve watched this before trying to fade the side of my shit today 🤣
👀👀👀
Damn 🔥
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Told my wife I watched a video on a new 3 finger technique that produces excellent results…
For some reason she was not that impressed… 🤷🏻♂️
😂😂😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥
👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Learned this technique in jail dudes got tha shii down too a T
👀👀👀
Hi brother we're are you
On the couch!
What if u got small fingers🤣
This is just to give you an idea lol stretch them things out 😂
Don’t tell me what to do! I got Gordon Ramsay for that AKA faded couture
Well ok
That technique is not good to teach beginners, very confusing.
Just be straight up, if you do a guideline with a #2 open, you then close it all the way and fade the bottom of it and slowly go up opening it up. That's pretty much it you need to make a perfect fade.
Why aren’t you teaching!
So I have been cutting my own hair for the last like 8 years or so but only been taking it seriously the last 3 months. This video really brought a lot of clarity to make things a little easier for me. Looking forward to do doing some sick fades for my peeps!
Yessir! Glad to hear it! Just keep getting those reps in
Bro thanks so much keeping the ½ guard and 1 ½ guard open half way made my fades and tapers so nice I really needed that I appreciate brotha
Glad I could help 🙌🏻
FACTS AND YOU JUST GAVE A WAY TO GET IT RIGHT AFTER BARBERS START WITH YOUR TECHNIQUE THEIR FADES ARE GOING TO BE BETTER THAN BEFORE AND IF YOU CANT FADE DONT BE EMBARRASSED WITH USING YOUR FINGERS.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
As an adhd barber ive been getting lost and taking waaaay to long bc of it 😅 the past 2 weeks that ive been doing this have been a night and day difference 🙌🏼 thank you, thank you, thank you!
Love to hear it! Glad it helped you
Try taking less steps to the process.. guard skipping etc
Your a better teacher than my teacher 😅 . Thanks a bunch Sean for all the great content! ❤
Wow, thanks!
This probably the best fade tutorial/technique that I've see on YT and I've watched a lot..
Appreciate that 🙏🏼
I have 2 questions
1/2
When u are blending them are u pushing up and down or flicking if so what kind of angle
2/2
My clippers are 0.45-0.85 so do I still use 1 guard
Just going in and cutting the hair I want to cut then coming out off the head. You still use all the guards no matter the clipper
Not a barber, but I did start cutting my husband's hair after covid when shops closed. I have watched all your technique videos, and it's helped so much! Thank you, and keep throwing out good vids🥰
Also, your teaching style is spot on! Easy to learn🙌🏼🙌🏼
Love it!! 🙏🏼
Would this be considered a mid fade? If I wanted to do a high fade, would I use 2 fingers?
Yeah it’s a mid fade. For a high fade you wouldn’t leave as much weight and would just shift the whole thing up a step. Also can just tighten up your guidelines. There would still be the same steps whether high, mid, or low
If your doing like a low fade can you still use the same technique even tho you don't have space for all 3 fingers
If you don’t feel you have that much space it just lets you know to tighten up the guidelines
Nothing like a good straightforward tip everyone can use. Good stuff man! Gonna try this one.
Appreciate it
Could i use these steps for tapers or just fades
For anything!
Great video. Am I the only one that just can’t keep track of which settings to use in each section?
I start understanding, but quickly can’t keep the numbers straight.
It’s not you, it’s me. :)
Jus have to get an exact system you can use everytime
Amazing video, thank you for the Gems homie . Yo big Sean Is there a similar technique to determine Taper guide lines.
Can do the same exact way. If there’s not enough room you just tighten it up a little bit
May i know how tostart?
What number of guide? And what number click lever.
From botom or top.
It’s all in the video! I have a fade steps video that explains even further
Ok yeah. It's 10 pm and I really want to try this on somebody lol. I'll just have to wait till Wednesday.
Ha lmk how it works!
What is your preference for bending into those weight lines? clipper over comb, shear over comb? 2 guard with lever play?
Usually a larger guard and blend down like 4-3-2 then do the fade into the 2
This is the way I cut in the shop and I love it. From Brooklyn ny & I use the master cordless
👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Omg this is so helpful because I struggle to measure the 3 spots thank you I'm 3 finger me a dude until I can't no more 😅
very nice nro
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Are those the Marty Blendz guards?
Yes the skittles set
what kind of clippers do you use?
I use all kinds of diffuser stuff. These are the lo pro fx from babyliss
How can this work with detachable clippers????
I don’t use detachables but would have to find equivalent steps with your blades and apply the same system
@@Seancutshair please do.
How do you determine with a mid high or low fade tho?
Same way. But if you don’t have enough room then you know you need to tighten up your guidelines
It’s crazy because when I started cutting last year I used to make one line get rid of it then make another and get rid of it, probably 3-4 months into barbering I would make all the guidelines and fade them, now a year into this craft I fade down so when I watch people make guidelines I find it weird😭
Blending down can definitely be faster but for most it’s easy to get lost and guidelines help stay where we want to be
Just started cutting out of my garage and this DEF helped me out. Thank you bro 👍🙏
the best
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
2:46 I saw that finger🧐
😂😂😂
trying this today on a client
Get it!!!
@@Seancutshair Worked perfectly, I like fading down. But, it works amazing. I recommend everyone to do this
Very good 🎉
Thanks 😊
Which clipper is that?
Influencer Lo Pro fx
🔥🔥🔥 video i learned alot ..im attending a barber seminar this upcoming month to learn more about cutting hair .. ill be sure to use this techinque ..bless u and your fam bro 🫡
Appreciate it! Good luck 👊🏼
Hey Sean, first of all. Thank you for all your videos! SO helpful. I’m about to finish at Barber School. And still not comfortable with the basics unfortunately. But when you put in the open Clipper guideline, do you flick up? Or are all your guidelines hard?
🐐ed technique
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Does this technic only works for fades or does it work for tapers too?
It works for any cut, just the shape or location of the fade changes
@@Seancutshair thanks a lot and thank god for your promo code it has saved me a lot of money
