Really enjoy watching your videos. When you're a bald bowling ball like myself, the beard is really all you have to express yourself hair-wise. It's fun experimenting on your own beard, and I've gotten a lot better at grooming it thanks to your great instructional videos. Have a great day!
Ive been bald for about a year now and i find that a full, semi-long beard goes well with the shaven head. As when i had hair i kept the beard a little shorter like in this video.@@ggvbayareaoakland5914
I really like the explanation on FADE vs TAPER on beards. A lot of barbers taper my beard when I ask for it to be faded and I think this video demonstrates the difference between the barber terminology more clearly.
Kudos to you, Matty, for delivering an outstanding tutorial on beard fading! You effortlessly simplified the fading process, making it a breeze. Your tutorial is hands down the best fading guide on RUclips, especially for the classic fade. Plus, with your instructions, anyone can easily achieve a great fade on their beard. A reminder for folks here: to create a flawlessly faded beard, a robust trimmer is vital in sculpting the perfect look. I use the Wahl Magic Clip or Andis. Thanks a lot, Matty!
Wish I watched this video a while back. The fade technique is so cool and not that hard to pull of yourself. It looks best on guys with shaved heads. Thank you for this tutorial.
That trick for the top line is amazing! I’ve been to a bunch of barbers before doing my own beard and I’ve never seen anyone do it like that before and it looks great!
I was one of those people that commented about blending/tapering the beard. Thank you for defining a fade vs. taper! My beard length is close to your length (medium?) MAN! I do not feel confident doing last weeks beard trim and this weeks is a whole nother lvl. I do line up my own beard in between cuts, usually using a safety razor every 2-3 days. I might look into a foil shaver. I could probably do it daily in 2-3 minutes.
Thank you Matty, I just faded my beard myself using this video. It doesn't look as great as this video, but it looks far better than how i used to do it.
Thanks so much for this. I always felt weird with a bald head and sudden beard. This is a great solution. Doing it tomorrow and will look into your product as well.

That is some amazing skill and info. So glad to have someone show me the 'right' way to care for my garden hedge and try to make me look half-way groomed.
I find fading is the hardest part about trimming your beard at home. The outlines i can get pretty easily by now and shaping and everything, but fading is effin hard... looking foward to the video now.
Hi @Matty! Excellent video! Again! Could you please make a video on trimming and shaping a moustache within a beard? I've seen your videos addressing moustache styles, but I feel that when it's part of a full beard you must follow different directions. Thanks!
I've enjoyed watching your series . I'm 32 never been to the barbers I lost my hair in late teens no just razor my head but last couple years I've had a go trying to style my own beard it's worked sometimes with the help of your videos . But I'm best man at my mates wedding last this year so gonna grow out my beard more and brave to go to the barbers and get some advice and help on what shape beard would look good on a bloke with a round ish bald head 😄.
It's a top notch video as always! Thx to you and some other valued RUclipsrs, now I have my own "home Barbershop" at home. I purchased a Moser chrom 2 style blending edition clipper. The Wahl metallic guards from 3-25mm, the Moser magnetic guards from 1.5mm-6mm, a Philips narrow head beard clipper, safety razers, Chicago comb n°2, n°6 and n°8. @@mattyconradgrooming when I was a med student, I was the barber for the half of the dormmates. Now I'm only cutting hair for a few very close friends. And of course for myself since 2004.
I was watching this video and mostly like "yep I've got all this down." Then he showed that cheek line trick and damn that's sharp. Tried it and worked perfectly. Awesome 👍
Excellent video! All I have for equipment is a Wahl Groomsman Rechargeable Beard Trimmer Kit that I got for a gift from Amazon. On this video, you have more equipment and better tools. I’m still trying to master that faded beard and it’s been difficult.
Thanks for the distinction between "tapered" and "faded". I can see from the video that it's probably easier to trim an overall short beard to faded. With a longer beard, I find it more difficult to trim the fading zone myself without a blatant break. Maybe you could show how the fading works on a longer beard?
I have a shaved head, which I take care of myself, but I miss going to the barber. Whenever a go for a beard trim at the barber they always do a terrible job…all of the barbers I’ve tried are the same; just bad! I wish more barbers would take time to refine their beard styling techniques! Hopefully they’ll be watching your videos Matty! 😊
This channel is a gold mine for information. I'm growing my very first beard at the ripe age of 49, and I won't lie, it's all a bit daunting. I'm currently at the "it's starting to get longer and it's all gone a bit wild stage!" 🤣
Same. I didn't grow my first beard until I was about 47. After I got my first real trim from a skilled barber, I actually got compliments from strangers on the street. This was after a lifetime of thinking I couldn't grow a beard.
This was an awesome video! I've watched hundreds of haircut videos and they have never mentioned the tip you gave for a perfect c cup when lining the beard the👍🏾
Another awesome video! Quick tip: I’ve gone to barbers for most my life (50 years) and you can reduce the wear on your clippers as well as the “shrapnel” by barely going past the fade lines. Basically, cut the upper 1/3 only, change guard, cut mid 1/3, change guard and finish. It seems odd when you first see it, but the barbers I’ve had use this method give the best cuts and it grows out better. Hope this helps👍🏻

Thanks for your videos. They're very helpful. If you want ideas for future videos, I would appreciate one about how to achieve defined edges on a very curly beard. Every time I wash it or brush it, the edge is going to be different and lines are very blurry and round, until a point where there's always a big part that is transparent. If I trim this part, the next time it will look transparent again. I had a very long beard and I've just turned it into a ducktail. All the best. 👋

Most beard videos always display someone with dark coarse hair. How about some fair haired beards for us fair haired people!? We tend to have different issues with a different grade of hair.
Hey there! the reason we usually do that is because its harder to do on a dark haired person especially if they have high contrast ( dark hair & light skin). it shows everything. The only thing I would adjust for doing this technique on fair hair is I would start with a slightly longer guard.

Fair haired people are not part of the beard community, blonde or ginger beards do not count.
