Your tips helps massively! However, after having a beard for over 10 years, I finally went to an actual men’s barber specialized in beards. After an hour of a full cut, trim and shave I wondered why I never had done this. Amazing experience.
That is excellent. These tips are in no way meant to replace what an actual barber should be able to do with your beard. But they do help you keep it tidy in between visits.
I want to do this but I don't know any actual barbershops near me. They'll advertise as a barber shop but it's just like the chains (sport clips, etc) that have a revolving door of girls fresh out of beauty school that probably won't be there next time you go in.
How much on average is a beard trim from a barber? I see people pay 75 or 120 and they draw an outline to make a fade and I’m not a fan.. I just want a clean natural look with very little if any fade… also how does it take an hour for a beard trim?
This might be the best freehand beard trimming tutorial on the internet. Kudos to you, sir. As you mentioned, scissors can be very handy, and I find them especially useful for the moustache and back of jaw areas.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm 50 and for the first time in my life i work in a career where I could grow a beard if I wanted to.. The scariest part of this whole experience is the trimming and having no idea what I'm doing. I really appreciate this video and learned a lot!
I've had a pretty long beard for a while now and want to say I think it's better to get a nice pair of small grooming scissors when trimming the stache. What I do for avoiding the cats asshole stache style (😂) is hold the scissors vertical to your lips as you progress across them. This will help you avoid a, in my opinion, bad look due to it looking too straight. By holding the scissors vertical, you get the length and shape you want while it being easier to avoid going too high above your lip. The tip you have about "less is more" is gold and applies here too - start low to trim, but give yourself room to progress further up. Back away from the mirror for a few seconds after every few cuts and brush down with a horse hair brush. Make sure that when you do your mustache that your beard is ENTIRELY dry. Wet hair is longer than dry hair so that makes a difference when avoiding the cats asshole. Very good video my friend!
You should have used the zero blade that brio provided you. I just picked up the V2 and love this clipper. Used the zero blade to outline and didn't even need to go in with a razor after. I would like to see a video on how to fade a beard on the side using those clippers and the zero blade.
wanted a beard just like this. went to a barber here in washington and the guy basically did opposite of everything you said. he ruined a 12 month old stache and my long beard. i want to come to your barbershop. please open one in seattle area.
dude thanks for sharing this. I've tried to freehand a little but always mess it up. I think if I go in the order you did ill be fine. I was kind of hopping around
I definitely find the prep part ( wash and blowdry) to be one of the most important steps when it comes to getting a good result. Doing all of these steps in order is just what makes the most sense to me.

I feel your pain brother. Similar boat. Starting from scratch here.
Just grow it; it's not that difficult...
@@lukepaulson3428 I started a new beard this september, keep it growing!
Thank you so much for this video. I'm 50 and for the first time in my life i work in a career where I could grow a beard if I wanted to.. The scariest part of this whole experience is the trimming and having no idea what I'm doing. I really appreciate this video and learned a lot!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching
50, and you need a RUclips grifter to teach you how to grow a beard?
@@Hairydude 50 and I needed to learn how to trim my beard on my own without destroying it. And where’s the grifting?
@@druncleporkins I'm guessing that you are pretty inexperienced etc for 50...
@@Hairydude i‘m guessing you are really rude etc.
For my outlines top and bottom, I use a safety razor and they turn out great
I've had a pretty long beard for a while now and want to say I think it's better to get a nice pair of small grooming scissors when trimming the stache.
Sorry for the really long winded comment!
Pro for sure thank you for the video. Helped me tremendously...
Been waiting for this 👍
that was the best, thank you so much
Dude! Don’t leave us again
Lol… I’ll do my best
I’m on year two and I’m getting better and better at running out a proper beard. Thanks and welcome back.
Hello! Do you have any advice for someone whose beard is curling into itself at the bottom? Only just turned 21 and never showed care for my beard. Though 2 years has already shown quite a bit. Also, came back at the perfect time, glad to see a new video alongside the poofy face we enjoy. =)
Man…. If I only knew this 50 years ago. I look great it took me very little time compare to extra time and really bad results…. Now I’m clean and my girl loves it. Thank you
That’s great to hear!!! Congratulations! And thanks for the encouragement.
Great tutorial. Could you do a 'touchup' beard trimming video to highlight the do's and dont's to avoid those mistakes that will ruin a beard? It seems to be easy to go too far when touching up.
Great idea! I’ll work on that.
Your Hair and Beard Look Awesome.
Similar to the Style I Like to Rock.
Great Video and Information
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it!
Very nice and helpful video, thanks for sharing! You look upgraded man!! haha good job...
