+Matal No I don't agree, I think it was a pretty even debate. Ben didn't actually do that well, and some of his points kind of fell flat. The same is true of Cenk, but he has his strong moments as well. The hooker comment was a nice zinger, but I don't think it had much meaning.
Brion Foulke Deep down, I expected a greater smack down than the performance that Shapiro put on. That said, even with my liberal hat on, I would say 50% of the debate went in Shapiro's favor, about 20 to Cenk with the remainder pretty even or going to neither. I just don't see the even score man. Cenk's message delivery falls apart as he tries to scrap together a coherent argument. His identity politics rebuttal is painful to watch. He screams "it's called America. Usa. Usa. Usa."

Cenk realized that there's no limit to how much video-content he can upload, and that you can't win an argument against someone who uploads more content in an hour than there are hours in a DAY... there will always be an armhy of idiots who eat it up.
Then he sponsored his RUclips content, so that it would spam up everone's sidebar with recommented TYT videos.
Finally RUclips stopped paying for views, and so TYT has been disappearing ever since.
So give props for bare minimum? Le lol.

To the point where saying Google it is synonomous to saying... Research it. Cenk did provide facts and explained them. But in a debate obviously you are verbally saying those facts.... Not showing them directly... So he is saying if you doubt what I am saying just research it and see it for yourself. that doesn't take away from his points and argument at all. The phrasing wasn't the best but it wasn't an outright wrong thing to say necessarly either.

Cenk - Here's a free tip. When your at a free and open debate, which usually only draws the more educated people, don't call your audience uneducated because they don't agree with you.
he borrowed a page out of Ann Coulters playbook and he called them uneducated because they seemed unfamiliar with the concept of money getting more or less recycled in the economy depending, maybe they should grow some skin because facts dont care about your emotions.
The concept he proposed was preposterous. I will say, I haven't heard it described in detail, only as Cenk defined it (feel free to post a link with better detail, I couldn't find one).

It is extremely simple. If you give money to wealthy people they will 'invest' it -- and this may, or may not, lead to economic improvement. If you give money to poor people they will spend it -- this means that the money flows through the economy immediately.
boggistthecat - Wouldn't it be better to give companies the money to invest in additional workers and higher wages which can then be subject to payroll taxes, puts people to work, increases GDP, personal wealth growth, and spurs innovation rather than just giving handouts to those who do not produce while maintaining a safety net for those who cannot?
Except that doesn't happen. They don't invest in workers anymore. Their goal, naturally, is the bottom-line, even it means cutting corners.
They invest in outsourcing production to countries with people that will accept lower wages and work conditions, technology to replace humans with automation, and lower wages and hours for workers that are still clinging on to their payrolls.
There has been very little innovative progress, since companies rarely take risks like they used to. Instead, they rely on tiny improvements on a proven system for steady revenue. Sure smaller startups may drive the progress of innovation, but they just get gobbled up by older, bigger, and richer corporations that don't know what to do with it and squander it.
Look at Apple. Ever since Steve Jobs died, the company hasn't really come out with anything really new. Its basically the same old phone with new bells and whistles. No real radical changes in the last few years, aside from the Apple Watch

His one hour of comments can be reduced to an ad hominem fallacy of calling Cenk a prostitute and a conflation of U.S. cancer treatment statistics with the global U.S. healthcare ranking.

It is clear that taxation is to pay for collective goods, and in the cases where it is agreed to be a good like fire depts, public education, roads etc, few would raise a fit. But consider how much of your tax money went to pay for wars and a military industrial complex that you would not likely agree with, and that few would likely agree with.
And people can organize to use collective funds to purchase collective goods, without the threat of jail time, without coercion, and this is just organization. For example when a community raises funds to build a park. You must admit that taxes pay for many things you find immoral and would not volunteer to pay for in a million years.

Pretty sure his point was that high taxes does not necessarily stymie growth, and that since there is a precedent we can positively conclude that this fact is true, and should be considered when looking for future funding. That is entirely different from saying that higher taxation equates to higher growth, and a 100% taxation is so out of the realm of reality and even further than communism that it's not even worth discussing.
