I'm not a Cenk or TYT fan in the slightest and I really enjoyed this for what it was, an open discussion. I don't think it was a bout winning or losing but rather about finding a common issues to rally behind. Freedom from corporate control and freedom of speech appeared to be those issues. Congratulations to Cenk and Tucker on providing everyone with something to think about post-discussion.

Dustin Brown They're either agreeing with each other or talking past each other. They didn't talk about anything but their own talking points when they were discussing immigration, and a few other things. This debate did really go anywhere, unless you were listening for your own sides talking points. That's why I think the debate with Sam Seder and Charlie Kirk was much better than this one. Those two actually got into the issues, but they mostly talked about economics. I wanted to hear more about culture and policy from Tucker and Cenk since the right and the left rarely talk to each other about anything other than straw man arguments, but they either agreed with each other or talked past each other.
Bottom line: no one won this debate. Anyone thinking there was a clear victor here suggests they grabbed onto either Cenk's or Tuker's talking points and missed the fact that this debate didn't go anywhere. One would throw out an issue and the other would say "I agree" or they would retreat into their cookie cutter positions and fail to address the other's position. No real conflict occurred. Now if someone wanted to make the assertion that Sam Seder won against Charlie Kirk, then we can talk. That actually would have some merit.

Unfortunately, this was mostly due to the fact that Carlson is squeaky clean. Watch Cenk's debate with Dinesh D'Souza. Cenk uses ad hominim attacks throughout the debate to try to argue against his reasoning, which is a logical fallacy and counter productive to civil discourse.

I have to say, this was really refreshing. Especially compared to Hassan's debate, this felt miles more civil and productive. It felt more like a discussion than a debate most of the time. You can still criticize Tucker for things he said, but to have some agreement between these two men who would normally have full detestment for each other is just great. We need more 1 on 1 conversations like this, otherwise the us vs them mentally always gets in the way of the real issues.

Its a case of younger more passionate debaters v more mature and passionate debaters. As well as having rules laid out that specifically stated "dont talk over each other". The Piker/Kirk debate stopped being a true debate the moment one started talking over the other turning it into a straight up argument as opposed to a debate such as this.
I wanted to applaud BOTH participants in this very vigorous, impassioned but RESPECTFUL and largely articulate debate. In general I do not count myself as a particular fan of either Cenk or Tucker as I consider them to both be more inflammatory than informative but I was extremely impressed with the respect each demonstrated and will most certainly give them more attention going forward. While I wasn't moved to change my position on anything immediately, they both gave me some areas to reconsider my own perspectives, such as immigration and campaign finance. Thank you gentlemen ... this is what free speech and Unites States Democracy is all about.

It's funny how many people are championing a winner. I'm a longtime TYT viewer and this was the most normal, measured, rational debate I've watched at a Politicon, and definitely the only one where it didn't quickly devolve into ad hominems or screaming. Was kind of a nice watch.
It was quite unusual seeing a debate like this. It seems like they made a decision behind the scenes to let each other have their time to shine, without too much talking over each other.
Did you see Kyle vs Scottie in the "Is Trump Winning" debate? I'd argue that that takes the #1 spot as most normal, measured, and rational debate. This one takes the #2 spot in my opinion.

Cenk pushed the whole "money in politics" line to try to win support despite the fact that he takes in a lot of political money like a superPAC. So he is an extreme hypocrite. He pushed the debate this direction twice by asking if Tucker believes in the 28th amendment, which is a bonkers idea because money in politics is largely by owning the news companies. He didnt want to talk about how he was getting absolutely hammered on the immigration front. The thin veil of pro-rich, cheap labor immigrants was pulled away and he was cornered

Do you realize how much money TYT takes in from politicians to promote certain talking points? How is he different from a superPAC? If he was against superPAC entities and money in poltics, he would stop taking so much money from Buddy Roemer. I don’t know if I’d call this a debate. Cenk offered stances and Tucker didn’t try to combat him on them and Tucker didn’t actually offer a stance on any of the topics discussed. He talked a lot. I like that they were both respectful. Aside from that this was an empty conversation at best.

This is where social democracy comes in. There will always be a disparity between how much value labor produces, and how much it's sold for. In pure economic terms, it is supply and demand.
With zero labor laws, this disparity increases astronomically, where wages approach zero, yet the value of that labor to the company can remain high. If the wage/value disparity approaches zero, then entrepreneurs don't get the incentive to take on the risk of starting a company. The trick is finding the right balance between not letting people starve from lack of compensation to the value they create, and not killing the goose that lays the golden egg.
In my opinion, this is foremost an economic structural problem, not an immigration one. Though, i think having completely open borders certainly wouldn't make things easier, so immigration should be at least some part of the debate.
That's why the unions have been decimated for the last 4 decades. It makes life easier for the top. Amazing how the gop has convinced people how good that is for them.

B) Laws against unchecked immigration are not some irrational, "racist" positions, here is why we need to control our borders...

I watch The Young Turks everyday so you can imagine how I feel about Tucker Carlson, so imagine my surprise when I actually agreed with him a few times. It's awesome to here from both sides of the political spectrum and it's civil and educational.

So you think it was better that someone talked less because they had no defense to Tucker Carlson? I'm pretty sure Cenk just didn't know what to say. His continuous "I have a question to pose to you tucker" was just an act to try to get the light off of him and onto tucker so he could try to just find anything to use to defend himself against tuckers pretty solid arguments.

OMG. It's a matter of perspective. To anyone who actually understands the socialist policy positions of Cenk _and_ the libertarian/conservative perspective of Tucker it is obvious that Tucker expressed himself just as well as Cenk. The biggest difference is that if they had 4 or 5 hours to speak instead of one, it would become increasingly obvious that Tucker is in another league. You don't have to be that smart or know that much to be a socialist.

Really Tucker is great at saying things that are bigoted but making them palatable. I'm not against demographics changing but they're changing too quickly. I'm not against Brown people but I'd like to see less of them in my town.

I served in the US NAVY for 8 years and I have paid taxes since I was 16 years old. I love everyone but enter our country legally or stay out. I had a Secret security clearance while I served in the NAVY and I did not have the ability to enter any other country as I wish. We should make it easier for people to enter our country and become Americans. God bless America and God bless us all.

Tucker addressed the real issues which most people are afraid to do and to me he won the debate even though it was more like a great conversation from both sides

Tucker is basically every middle aged republican I've ever debated. After about 29 minutes they accidentally start agreeing with progressive policies, and then get angry and try to change the subject.

How about watch it again, this time don't project some blanket agreement but listen for how Tucker differentiates himself. Scratch that, you're like every liberal I've debated. Pretty much sums up all these debates. Kyle and Scottie damn near didn't disagree until like 30 minutes in, Seder hammered Kirk until he agreed, and this debate is more of a discussion with one person teaching the other.
That's pretty much how it works with my conservative mom and she complains constantly about local/state government (which is all controlled by GOP), but won't stop voting for them.

The problem with Tucker Carlson is that he doesn't have the balls (or financial incentive) to stay true to himself. Deep down he may have a reasonable belief system but that's not what he espouses on Fox 95% of the time
