What is Ecrew? When I had to uproot and move to Indiana, there was a car community called Bcrew (B for Bloomington, Indiana). These guys became my family. Instead of partying on the weekends, I was working on cars- and I loved it. Since starting youtube, I have started what I call Ecrew. It's a community where you get to take 10min out of your day and be involved in a build, but more importantly it's a family.

We confirmed that this was not the friend or person the car was sold to. We are pretty sure the car was abandoned and then stolen by these guys. There was about 5 or 6 cars on the property considered abandon and likely stolen. The cop was super sweet about everything and extremely helpful. Now she's back lol what should we do next?

Same, but with me it's cars I fixed for other people who end up selling them since I don't sell my cars. Several years ago, my friend bought a beautiful Cadillac CTS from auction and we spent so much time and had so much fun rebuilding it and driving it all over. Last year he sold it to a friend for a great price, who quickly flipped it for a quick buck. I saw it at Dollar General last week and it's amazing how its current owner trashed it so bad in less than a year. Cracked bumpers, curbed all 4 wheels, scratches and dings everywhere, broken door handles, interior trashed, exhaust ruined, etc. It doesn't even look like the same car anymore 😥

I sold an 82 S-10 shortbed that I loved for $500, but was in rough shape. Then 3 months later, I saw it at the gas station and he had already welded on new rockers, new metal over the wheel wells, body worked and it was primered as well as had new seats and carpet. He said he was getting ready to replace the 2.5 Iron Duke with a 4.3 turbo. I was so happy to see it getting the care it deserved! It's gotta hurt seeing one of your loved old vehicles being treated so badly!

@@289ToDah7o5 There is another way to approach the situation.
All of my vehicles, except two [under duress] were purchased from individuals.
      A. During the assessment, evaluation, thorough examination of the vehicle, the owner is included in my assessment, evaluation, etc. - in a kind manner, noticing the behavior, asking questions to the owner during my examination, etc.
-1. The condition of the vehicle is affected by the owner, its care, maintenance, etc. much which is unseen during the examination of the vehicle alone
-2. The current status, situation of the vehicle, history, etc. is also evident through the current owner
      B. Similarly with purchase of a used vehicle, is the sale of a used vehicle - the buyer to be the new owner is equally important - as seen with this situation
C.->Emelia was not directly involved in the sale, nor done through a 'seller' - rather a shop she relies upon, with good people - just they were not so careful with the individual buyer it was sold
D.-> thus, though Emelia and perhaps the shop owners figured the buyer would have completed all of the legal ownership transfer properly, he did not and was clearly unreliable, irresponsible
E.-> what actually happened to the buyer is almost certainly not what the man Emelia on the property where this Subaru was
->that person is clearly a dishonest, false type person - nearly as bad as, equal or worse than the individual he portrayed the 'previous owner', buyer.
      @Emelia Hartford;
F ->Emelia could have just shown up with the police, having reported the vehicle 'lost or stolen' to reclaim her vehicle - the man on the property would have no means to stop the process since he had no legal ownership or title
G.-> Emeila would have paid for, or actually should, could have appeared having her truck and towing, trailer nearby or had Shawn, Sandy or another to bring it after viewing the vehicle ->thus, after determining she wanted to take it to fix it, she would have been able to just tow it away with her own equipment.
      Simple.
      H. ->But Emelia was not fully, properly prepared.
      I. My approach would to have never given that man on the property any money - he clearly had somehow gotten that vehicle there as with others -> thus, basically stolen.
->such he was willing to sell it for $500 including towing it.
      All The Best
      Sincerely

I've gotten into the habit of removing the license plates when I sell a car, I keep the registration and turning in all the paperwork myself physically at the DMV including the plates. Also get a receipt from the clerk. I generally insist the buyer meets me at the DMV so the title transfer happens in front of me.. Both times I've gotten burned it was a < 1000 dollar car and they played the same game, 100's of parking tickets and they never change the title..

This same thing happened to me in 2006. I traded in a truck through a dealership and bought a new truck. Two years later there's a warrant for my arrest for unpaid parking tickets. Long story short, in Texas if a dealer trades a vehicle to another dealer and the second dealer keeps the vehicle as a hauler/ transport they don't have to transfer the title. I was absolutely dumbfounded. Took me over a year to get this straightened out. I spoke with judges, detectives and the DMV. True story yall.

Well bud in Texas the titles have a peace that tears off and the seller is responsible to mail it off to the DMV if I'm not mistaken, so it will be in records the vehicle no longer belongs to the seller. Also when selling a vehicle remove registration stickers and license plate from the vehicle. I learned that the hard way by selling a car to a neighbor who in return sold it to someone else who never got it registered and titled changed to their name which the new buyer ran tolls for months and I got billed in the mail. I solved the issue by talking to my neighbor and demanding he better get my license plates and the piece of the title that I was suppose to mail off. Googled helped me out with that.

lol, it can get worse, trust me. someone else was unloading my car that i had just purchased and the exhaust got hung on a broken board on the trailer and somehow managed to rip the exhaust off and at the same time pop a motor mount. it was unloaded on a slight hill Infront of my house. we found out that the brakes were no good as it went rolling down the hill and my buddy had to chase it down (he ran faster than me lol) and Dukes of Hazzard style jump in through the window and "try" to stop it. no E brake and weak brakes. he managed to get it stopped before it made it to the main road. it "ran" so for several months i drove it with no exhaust, well, about 5 inches of pipe past the manifold and a broken motor mount. one night me and my buddy were going to a venue where another couple of our friends were playing a concert and he was driving behind me and called me on the phone to tell me that i had flames shooting out (like "the cool kids nowadays"), but i was terrified because i forgot to mention that we found a hole in my gas tank that if i filled it too full gas would pour out or if i turned to the right hard enough would slosh out. there's alot more to the story but, the rest involes alot of stress and anger leading up to, i bought the car in 2009 and i got into a heated argument with the guy that owns my house telling me in 2018 that he didnt like my "junk" and if i didnt get rid of it he would have it towed to a junkyard. i had been in the process of rebuilding it around 2012 and some family issues popped up and i was unable to finish it, but around 2018 i was starting to work on it again and he didnt like it. there's more still, but i dont want to make myself mad again because its still going on TODAY. same car same guy.

Many years ago, I was in a similar situation. Bought a non-running low mileage ‘85 300zx turbo for $250. I had several cars, so this one went to a storage lot. Interested party left several notes on the car, I called the number back and the prospective buyer desperately offered me $2500 for it. I advised him of the necessary repairs involved and that it’s not running. He didn’t care about the repairs involved and continued to offer me $2500.
But there was a catch… he couldn’t pay all at once.. wanted to make monthly payments over 6 months. He also had 2 other cars in storage at the same lot, so as a dumb kid I foolishly let down my guard and agreed to the monthly payments meeting at the storage facility where he payed me in cash. In the meantime he was desperate and constantly requesting either keys, a title, registration, anything… but I refused to provide him any of those until the car was paid in full. We had a plain simple paper contract outlining the payment arrangement and that if he broke said arrangement, I would keep at least 1/2 the sale price as a non refundable deposit for my efforts.
So after the guy paid half ($1250), lo and behold - he is unable to make any further payments moving forward. Contract broken. I had already begun making arrangements to have the car moved elsewhere after that happened. But I did get a phone call from what I knew was the owner of one of the shadiest repair shops in town the same day.
They informed me that there is a shady as hell guy with him trying to sell them a 300zx with no title. And am I the owner with the title and registration? Yes I am. He wanted to buy the car, but naturally he wanted the keys and the title/registration (not to mention a explanation) - so I agreed to head over immediately.
When I arrived, it was clear the weasel who bought my car was trying to broker a deal with the repair shop owner for substantially more than the remaining balance he owed me. He made the huge mistake of needing to use the washroom - to which the owner and I had a brief conversation where I quickly discovered the weasel was trying to sell him my car for $3500.
The story the weasel gave the shop owner was he owed me $1250 on the car and to just give me $1250 only and to give the rest to him. Shop owner being no fool, wanted keys and proof of ownership before putting that kind of money in his hands. We struck a deal for $2k on the spot - he paid me in cash and I provided him the keys and all necessary documents and signed a bill of sale… we disclosed the truth to each other and made a deal all in a span of 5 minutes! After making payment the shop owner promptly told me to get lost and that I don’t want to be present when the weasel left the washroom!
Just as I left the front entrance, the weasel had just exited the washroom! To this day I cringe at what may have taken place afterwards. What came to light later was that the weasel was an employee of the storage yard, and he was trying to cheat other people in a similar way. The two cars in the yard that were “his” were cars he had partially paid for and had convinced others to hand over keys and or title. He had sold them to other parties not knowing he had a prior balances outstanding with the previous owners! He was promptly fired, and I was told he is currently serving jail time.
I walked away with a total of $3250, the shop owner spent $2k on a low mileage Nissan and had all paperwork and the address where his tow truck was already on route to collect, and the weasel wound up with a $1250 loss - and eventually arrested.

You should rebuild it into a Baja car. I had the same thing happen to me in Maryland. I sold a 2000 Mustang GT to someone and took the tags off of it. Since the tags were only 2 months from expiration I figured no big deal. I signed the title and handed it over. Two years later I got a notice in the mail that all of my registrations were suspended because I had an outstanding fine with the MVA (DMV). I called the MVA and was told that I had $19,950.00 in fines for an insurance lapse on a 2000 Mustang GT. I contacted the buyer and found that he put it in his garage and never submitted the bill of sale or the title to retitle it. After much negotiation with the buyer and the MVA, I ended up paying two months of violation for no insurance ($700) and since I still owned the car legally, I had a rollback go and take it from his garage and I still have it.

I was floored when you said Sacramento.
I own several collector cars and had to deal with the DMV countless times.
They are clueless for the most part.
Their software is 20 years old, and they keep throwing, from what I can tell overlays and fixes on it that don't really work.
You have to be strong minded and stubborn, or they'll roll all over you.
Remember this is ALL done with your consent and cooperation !
Then I saw the rest of the video:
Tweekers, never, ever deal with a tweeker.
Since you were still the registered owner you should have just had that deputy tow and impound it and you could have got it out of impound right then and there....
The guy you handed the money to was ever so excited. Free money for a car he never owned.
BTW they would have delivered for the $ 500, just because they had nothing else going on.

I sold my C5 Corvette that I DD'd for 6 years and dumped tons of time & money into, then about 9 years later someone contacted me who bought it (from the guy I sold it to), and found my contact info on some of the paperwork. I was crushed to see the beautiful torch red paint had been badly rattle can sprayed black, the headlights were replaced with crappy non-pop-ups that looked terrible. There was some cheap, ill fitting wide body kit on it, the Z06 wheels were replaced with some heavy crappy knock offs, and it looked like it had been planted in a ditch since the front clip was busted to hell.
I was pretty sad to see it like that, but I was also excited because the new owner was a legit "car guy" with a proper shop and 2-post lift, and he was asking lots of detailed questions about the powertrain modifications I'd installed previously. He's going to fix it up, it'll be his track car, so I was glad to see it getting fixed up, and put to work!

He was so happy, he drove away so fast I wasn't able to get my plates off before he was gone. Two weeks later, he drunkenly drove it thru a stand of trees in the median of a busy city street and fled the scene on foot at 2 am. He left the title in the glovebox and the plates were still mine. The cops called "me" to see if I was the driver. Yikes! Luckily, they confirmed from the title that I'd sold the car to the guy (2) weeks prior to the accident. The "last" tree he hit pushed the grill all the way into the engine compartment. It was really sad to see. While I was at the scene, the cops let me take my plates and I was able to make a photocopy of the title as "proof" the car belonged to someone else.

You were/are receiving tickets and the car is still registered (protect yourself) with you. The whole convoluted story ( always a guy in prison) was amazing. Take possession and part it out or get used parts and put it back together. Make YT videos, from the looks of it, might get 50 vids.

Just have to love living in California, DMV there is notorious for having their heads in the obvious place. What a nightmare! Kind of confused why you paid $500 for a car that had your name on the title. Starting to think that your certifiably nuts.

      @William Conlon;
      A. You are correct with the idea this Subaru is still legally hers
-1.->why pay for it any amount even a small amount ?!
-2. ->clearly that man was not the buyer, nor had gotten the vehicle through legal means ->rather basically snatched it form some location, as the other vehicles on the property
-3. ->appeared as abandoned in their location
-4.->clearly he has the trailer, truck to accomplish these tasks.
-5. ->offering to sell it for a relatively low amount, is a clear indication of, with, about this man as dishonest, and actually a thief.
-6. ->thus, the other basis, reason, logic not to pay this man any amount for the vehicle
-7. ->especially with the Police officer present, this man has no basis to stop Emelia form taking the vehicle which legally belong to her
      @Emelia Hartford;
      B. ->Emelia could have brought her own truck and trailer to transport the vehicle or had Shawn, Sandy to bring it after viewing the vehicle, deciding to take it.
      C. Emelia clearly figured $500 is a small cost, including the towing to pay for this vehicle which can be restored and sold properly for more than the costs including this small 'fee'
      D. but Emelia and Shawn should have been aware of the situation, perhaps also better prepared, to not support this clearly obvious criminal, thief, at least.
      E. ->It seems to me, if Emeila has contacted Sandy, he might have given Emelia better advice and the means to take, collect the vehicle using their equipment.
      All The Best
      Sincerely

DMV CA is painful to deal with. I when I sold my first bike I started getting notices 6 months later for not renewing. I even got a notice saying I needed to renew the bike or I wouldn't be able to renew my truck. I had filled out the release of liability online when I sold it but apparently that never got processed so I had to go in to the DMV with the physical liability release to get it sorted out.

Similar issue happened to me with one of my old 350z’s. Car was sold during the pandemic, all signed documents were shipped to the DMV in Sacramento as non of the offices were physically open. Almost a couple years later, I’m receiving multiple toll violation charges in the mail from FLORIDA. Dude is driving around my old Z on expired tags, running up a bill, facing zero consequences. In the photos you can even tell they put on a widebody, a duckbill, and different wheels, but still driving around on expired CA tags?! All while The DMV seemed to have lost all the paperwork I’ve sent them during the pandemic. Gotta love how helpful the government is...

@@your_average_joe5781 Literally! I even paid the DMV to receive the history on the car and the last thing it listed was an “incomplete bill of sale” that dated a year over when I initially sold the car and sent them the paperwork. Zero organization. Gotta head to the DMV now to explain this to somebody. Let me guess, they’ll probably tell me the same thing they told Emilia in this video; either report the car as stolen or you must have both parties sign the paperwork😂 Hoping that isn’t the case, but the government is such a joke.

@@kylesanders851 When working for big banks, sure. For the most part, I had the "authority" to at least try and negotiate a repayment "time", to make sure people weren't without transportation. And no matter what, "you" entered in to a contract with a bank or a "buy here pay here" place, you accepted your payment and interest rate. If you don't pay it for 3 or 4 months? What are they supposed to do? Your lights, gas, and water would be turned off by that time, and you would be evicted from a lease or rental situation. So, while I do agree a lot of people who "repo" can be sleezy. Why is that? Hmmm... I've had guns pulled on me for broken down POS's, that repoing it would have been a favor to them, honestly. And I have run across people who "promised to pay by Monday", but never did, every single time, no matter how many chances. I've even ran across people who thought their 10% down-payment or so, "paid for the car", so "why are you taking my ish bro"... uhm, because you haven't made a payment in 4 months and have been hiding the car.
While I did it for about 3 or 4 years, part time, and had that authority to negotiate for 1 or 2 "buy here, pay here" places, I "get" why you say that people who repo, are "scumbags". But who is really the "scumbag"? The one who didn't honor their contract, that they agreed too, of a physical product that was financed? Or the person picking it up for non payment? We will probably agree that depending on your credit, buy here, pay here will rip you a new one on the interest rate. But when I was the "repo man", that wasn't my problem.

I’ve had the same situation happen to me before too! The girl who bought a car from me never registered it to her name and ended up getting the car towed when she got arrested. The tow yard was going to charge me $700 to get the car back but since I already did a release of liability, I didn’t want to go get it and have her get out of jail and try to sue me for the car.
Ended up coming across it years later listed for sale all beaten up and needing a new engine. I wanted to buy it and rebuild it for the nostalgia because it was my first “modded” car but it would have just been a financial mistake.. 💔
