- Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.
The song 'Still i'm sad, was taken from the Album, "Rainbow on Stage", from the Rainbow World tour and recorded live in probably Germany. The song is more than 10 min. long and that's why i faded it.(unfortunatly ) you can hear the crowd screaming "Zugabe" and this made me believe it's a German audience)
I think this version of the song is one of the best Rainbow ever played.
Does anyone know where and when this song was performed? Please give your comments and rate.Thank u very much
This is the first song I ever heard from Ronnie and I've loved everything he's done since.Rest in Peace Ronnie
I 've never heard this version before. It is absolutely the best version ever!!
This is definetly, for me, the best Live-album existing. I am listening to it for over 30 years.
You and me both!
THE REAL RAINBOW RITCHIE, DIO,AND COZZY
I saw Rainbow twice, fantastic shows, Ritchie blackmore one of the best guitarist in the world, (showman), (personalities), highly entertaining to watch, mesmerising, He even smashed his guitar too. Iconic, Classic. Great memories.
Too sweet. The Gods of rock. I dont know the dates and unfortunately I never got to se them in concert. I do know that blackmore is by far my favorite musician. Rock on
Ritchie Blackmores Guitar playing is amazing and still is to this day. The only mistake he made was letting Ronnie go
Agreed, Claxton. What did we subsequently get?? Joe Lynn Turner. Good grief, what the hell was Blackers thinking of?.
@@DokktorDeth Dio was replaced by Bonnet, not Turner. And it's very clear what Blackmore was thinking of - becoming 'radio-friendly'. It's why Ronnie quit. Turner was mediocre but marketable - and Blackmore wanted to go down that road.
@@michaelstevenson470 I know that. I am aware of Blackers' leanings at that time, dumbing down to pander to the 'commercial' market.
But you're right with one thing: Turner is/was, at best in my view, mediocre. Subsequently does not necessarily mean consecutive, in context. As in: 'coming after something in time'.
DokktorDeth no we actually got Graham Bonnet after The Mighty Dio and he was brilliant on Down to Earth 🌏 brilliant vocals for a new Rainbow 🌈 and then came Joe Lynn Turner and again another brilliant vocalist for a new Rainbow 🌈 with a decent three albums and the last but also brilliant vocalist for Rainbow 🌈 was Doogie White on the brilliant' Stranger in us all ' an absolutely brilliant album as was and still are brilliant all Rainbow 🌈 albums all eight of them pure class and then we had the fantastic On Stage Live album from '77 with the mesmerising and brilliant Dio and unsurpassable Blackmore thank you
Well said.
R.I.P. Master :( RJ Dio, Jimmy Bain, Cozy Powell ...
Its unbeliveble how blackmore turn slow soft song to something so powerful. I love this song.
This has always been my favorite Rainbow song. Best keyboard solo ever....and best vocals by Dio. Just a kickass song any way you look at it.
tony carey chill
This one came at a bad time for me...40 years on...Still I'm Sad...
Ok 1st I must say this is one of my favorite song...All of Blackmore's versions are the best...I have listened to the different one here and hands down..I don't care what you think about Blackmore...this shows how good he is overall...Like Van Halen he knows how to make a better version than the original.
Ritchie always likes to speed stuff up in concert. Here he is on fire. I saw this tour and they were amazing. Don’t forget the keys here, very well done.
These artist were peaking at this time and this album. Dio still produce some other hits, but nothing like he and Ritchie produced. This has been my top album since 77. Every song is so powerful and raw. Best album for Air Guitar, Vocals and Drums. RIP Dio and Cozy.
What a voice dio had... legend
In the 80s I cried many a time over lost loves and this song was always there..
How fantastic Ronnie James Dio sounds here! And all of them, the best of the best. I feel dizzy and overwhelmed by this total greatness! And still I'm sad...
Blackmores TRUE GENIUS is that he does not care about opinions, acolades, or generallg anything. As a guitarist particularly LiVE definatelty thd BEST and most influencial. Best riffs, best solos and how many other musicians did he develop. Argued for 40 years ' whose tnhe best, WHO.CARES.
It wasn't until after i heard RAINBOW that i had heard MUSIC, they are my fav band, thanks for posting this mate :)
RIP Cozy and Dio (Gods of Rock)
I consider myself blessed to have seen this performed live.
love this , tonnes of emotion / power & beautifully detailed melody
See the stars come fallin' down from the sky
Gently passing, they kiss your tear drops dry
See the wind come, softly blow
Your hair from your face
And the rain comes falling down
In its crazy way
Still I'm sad
For myself my tears just fall in the dust
As I search in the night and find they're lost
See the wind come gently blow
Time into my heart
And the rain comes falling down
While we're apart
Still I'm sad
Great lyrics and tune by McCarty and Southwell
McCarty and Samwell-Smith. :-)
The greatest rock n roll band of all time!
you can pick out Ritchie’s playing from millions , very unique.
See the stars come fallin down the sky
Gently passing, they kiss your tear drops dry
See the wind come, softly blow
Your hair from your face
And the rain comes falling down
In it's crazy way
Still Im sad
The dynamics on this and the playing are wicked, an absolute rock milestone - everything that made this band so fine.
I saw a Rainbow twice over the years, in '82 but the best was in 1978 in Atlanta, they opened for
REO Speedwagon, the most mismatched show I've ever seen, they literally blew them off of the stage.
2 of the songs from that show are on "Rainbow Final Vinyl, Atlanta 1978 in the Omni, there will never be another band that compares to that lineup
The best cover EVER.
look for rainbow on stage. best lp ever!
Estoy con vos.
When I saw Deep Purple, Blackmore performed like a masterful showman and he sounded even better. Perfect Strangers tour was amazing.
Saw Rainbow at the Olympic in LA in 77 or 78. They really put on a great show. They had the trifecta of great talent and great back-ups and were doing what no one else was doing. Ritchie's solo's were unbelevable.
When I heard for first time this version I was a kid, it was so powerfull, after 30 years, still I love this version. Even in this times.
The man in black is back, if only briefly, for those without tickets listen and weep!
One of his finest vocal performances - rest in peace, mate!
I would say the West is known to the Asian youths through these Bands..he is simply fantastic as there's no replacement for such a rich voice, enthusiasm, etc..thanks for uploading!
Singapore
The best voice ever!!!
Saw Rainbow twice, Ritchie gets in the zone and puts on great shows!! RJD will always be missed
I know it's not enough, but am ready to give away whatever I have for just a chance to go back to those times and be present at this live performance...
See the stars come falling down from the SKYYYYYEEEEEE. Great voice from a little man. Rest in Peace Ronnie! Rest in Peace Cozy! We love you!
Ronnie may have been short in stature, but he had a voice that was 10 feet tall and bullet proof. THE GREATEST HARD ROCK/ METAL VOCALIST OF ALL TIME. CMON CHANGE MY MIND!!!!! YOU CAN'T..... RIP. RONNIE, COZY, JIMMY BAIN.. ALSO JONATHAN DOUGLAS LORD. KEEP ON ROCKING GENTLEMEN......
energy & romantism : the whole hard rock's beauty in this marvelous title
I love this song. McCarty and Southwell wrote a hauntingly lovely piece here.
anton ten you are 10000 percent right the best version ever thank you for this gift
Sad that Ronnie, Cozy, Jimmy are gone but the music will live on as long as we keep posting and listening. Long Live Rainbow.
RITCHIE BLACKMORE
Jimmy Bain r.i.p 🎸🎵🎼🎶🎸😎👊
Cozy Powell r.i.p 🎵🎼🎶😎👊
Ronald James Padavona R.i.p 🎤😎👊
Awesome 👏! I overlooked the original version, probably because there’s no vocals. I listened and liked the latest version with Doogie White. But when I saw this version with Dio’s vocals of course I had to check it out. Thanks again for posting!🤘🤘
I swear - if Ritchie's part was "extracted" as acapella it would have made a stand alone great rock number!...
+BlackCrowNavajo A cappella music is specifically group or solo singing without instrumental accompaniment....Richie is not the singer....Ronnie James Dio is.
Jerry Duncan you're right. my mistake. I meant to say extracted ''from" instead of "as"
Just played this song in my car at a loud volume.... Love it!
One thing I always loved about Richtie is that he is not a stage whore. Everyone is equal. In fact he leads from the back....Always in the shadows.
It weren't until after i heard RAINBOW that i heard MUSIC! Thanks for posting this mate :) RIP Cozy and Dio (God's of Rock)
The best live Rock Album i ever have heard
+P punkt P .. I agree with you. This is best version Rainbow doing this that I have heard thus far.
+P punkt P The best rock band line up in my opinion.
Great Richie Blackmore & Ronnie James Dio !
Great Concert !
RIP Ronnie, you will always live through your voice!
Yes, it is Live on Stage. The album was recorded live over several German and Japanese dates in late 1976 during the Rising world tour.
If this section doesn't blow you away between 6:55 to 7:45, then you are dead inside. Especially at 7:18. Goose Bumps every time. True Dio and Blackmore.
Oh Ronnie! . I see the stars come falling down from the sky... Still I'm sad my friend.
rainbow on stage.........
its not a double live LP or an album........
its a musical masterpiece !!!
One of Rocks best moments - RIP Ronnie - You were one of the best vocalists EVER. You will be sadly missed. :'-(
one year have past,but still i'm sad,Ronnie....RIP
Ritchie is the best !
A great great performance.
It's recorded and taken in Munich "Zirkus Krone" and you're right - good piece of Rock'n'Roll!!!

The Very Best Of Rainbow & Ronnie RIP
Time never turn back - I missed them all...
I saw Rainbow in 1977 and 79, once w/ Ronnie and the other w/ Graham Bonnet. I knew when I saw him it was legendary! Devastated was I (in a good way).... smokin joints man!
I just received the news that Ronnie past away. Rest in peace!!
Song by Yardbirds - fantastic arrangement, performance and voice.
énergie & romantisme : toute la beauté du hard rock contenue dans ce merveilleux titre
@s22ad: No, this is from the Rainbow album "Live on Stage" which was pieced together from various shows in 1976. It's not the same album as "Live in Munich 1977".
Live In Munich 1977 was the VERY BEST!
uno de mis temas favoritos!!! larga vida a Ronnie James Dio
Still I'm sad you're no longer with us Ronnie, and I will be forever, I think...
Perfect!!
RONNY, you were the voice of the metal, my respects for you.
РОННИ!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
this is my favourite version
RONNIE best vocals best front man and dio means God in italian. Any1 kno how he prepared for a show....a cup of beer and half a joint....priceless c u when I get up there brother🤘
Thanks... U make me cry.. :'(
Me too, Dalamar; me too …
I heard this version first... but going back to the studio version on the first Rainbow album, I vote for the earlier instrumental version. Gary Driscol is a far more interesting drummer and his cowbell ride through the studio version is just too cool. Dio was in happier days then with his former Elf bandmates. That first Rainbow album is such a classic. Too bad Dio and Blackmore couldn't get along better. Both into the mediaeval vibe and mysticism. They should have appreciated themselves
The best ever
Still I'm sad. Miss you man.
Best version ever
I agree, this is the best version of the song, even better than the Yardbird's original. Shame that the studio recording of this song is instrumental. The vocals of the great RJD are missing and it just doesn't sound right.
Rainbow are my inspiration, my idol, my savor who showed me what true MUSIC is rest in peace cozy and DIO (GODS of ROCK)
Genial interpretación Ronnie y Richie

You're right. He could've been a first class crooner but instead he was a headbanger hero. He'll always be papa Dio to me, or papa Padavonw. Forever holy diver 🤘
*Padavona
