@@kjtj397 Venom being an unreliable narrator is a fact explained in the game itself. This protagonist experiences entire rooms and characters as hallucinations, as well as hears auditory hallucinations in the form of Cassette Tapes. Hypnagogia, which Ocelot says was used for his brainwashing, is known to cause these symptoms - let alone the shrapnel in his skull which is pressing on his optic nerve, thus effecting his visual cortex (all explained in the game). "Tell me what to do, like you used to.." is one of those meta moments early in the game that tells you Venom isn't the real Big Boss but the player proxy.
Has no one else noticed how the first time we are shown Venom's face as Big Boss before character customisation, his right eye is clouded over. Big Boss lost his eye when it was shot by Ocelot when Snake stopped him from shooting EVA. If that were the real Big Boss, he wouldn't have a right eye at all.
I don't think it was ever explicitly explained that BB lost his eye. I know we all assume he lost the eye that was shot, but that doesn't have to be the case.
Actually I've replayed MGS3 recently and I'm not convinced his eye was shot directly or even grazed it. I'm more convinced it was the hot gas expelled from the muzzle.
As well as Paz's room having reversed textures: Her room is impossibly placed on the medical platform. If you look at her room and the corridor leading to it, then look at the platform building; her room would exist in thin air.

Venom is gray fox father from venom in the blood full hallway a move fox is known for to venom having one grey eye like gray fox which could be a clone of his father since big boss saw how great his fathers loyalty was they cloned big boss and gray fox father hoping to creat the perfect pair again but when the info came about they raided where fox was at since they knew how great a soldier he would be from venom’s performance which could explain y fox loves hand to hand combat and has his mental spasms because since he’s a clone he has some of his father’s visions mixed with his own which could have been triggered during his torture from ocelot … which could also explain why he helped snake because fox knew the truth all along that’s y him and snake where good friends because they where bounded by there father’s memories and there similarities from being cloned and used as puppets in someone’s game
Phantom pain theories are particularly frustrating to talk with the wider fan base because people are trained to take what they are seeing as canon. I dont mind at all when people have disagreements, but when you are hit over the head 6 ways to Sunday that Venom is an unreliable narrator, yet you still believe the ending is infallible with no time for second consideration... thats infuriating.
I immediately noticed the time discrepancy at Cyprus. It made no sense to me, they're in a hurry to escape, they don't know if they're still being followed (they are, the Man on Fire shows up at the site of the crashed ambulance when Venom wakes up) and they can't be sure they're safe when they reach the ship. The most logical plan would be to sail immediately, or at least hide on the ship. Ocelot going back and Big Boss waiting around for 3 hours makes little sense, especially when dealing with a supernatural opponent that could track you in ways that you can't even imagine. Another thing that annoyed me to no end was the yellow marker on the Mother Base for the Battle Gear in Huey's lab. It was a bug and I don't know if it was ever patched but it was so annoying, especially considering that the actual Battle Gear was scrapped from the game for "gameplay balance reasons" aka, they had to cut it because of time/money constraints (just like the base customization). There's no way anyone actually cared about the gameplay balance, there's a million OP items in the game
There in a hurry to get big boss to a safe house not escape. Oceleot needs to get BB some where safe so that he can grab Venom and use him to get the attention on them and away from where ever BB is hiding. Also it makes sense to wait a few hours while the heat dies down after the commotion at the hospital. And Ocelot could be picking venoms brain to figure out how much the hypno therapy worked.
Atfer playing all the mgs series and watching the story unfold over 20 years. The level of detail is astounding and i can't imagine that all these circumstances were "mistakes"
Per the containers with diamond dogs on them, it has to be purposeful. With the eventual pitting of ocelot and liquid vs miller and solid it would only make sense that miller was playing multiple sides at the same time during the diamond dog days, and the straw that broke things from being his friend that he wanted to be as loyal as he could to, while still giving himself insurance with cypher/zero was thrown away into more anger with the betrayal of not being let in on BB's plans post coma. I think it was a very subtle yet obvious way of shouting "HEY SOMEONE ON DD IS DOING A SNEAKY". I think all of the other hints that snake isnt really snake also points to venom being in a dream like, trance state from his hypnotherapy. He can be completely hypnotized, but his subconscious still sees himself as real when what would be the corner of his eye sees his shadow and reflection in the chopper. Replaying through the game makes you notice more and more of these hints stacked on top of each other. i think it was VERY intentional that Venom and by extension the player is seeing things both as Venom is hypnotized to see but also how he would see if he wasnt at the same time. The Paz story/knowledge inconsistency is exactly the kind of thing that i think is a hint to the player that Venom is experiencing and knowing what he was hyponotized to. I would dare say that any inconsistency from PW to GZ/TPP would conveniently be advantageous for Venom to be a 'good soldier' instead of a disheartened one.
Another detail you might have missed, similar to the reversed patient 1:40 , is the patient getting shot when Snake is under the bed hiding. The patient is laying on the ground, looking away from the camera towards the XOF soldier, then gets shot on his left side of his head. His head then turns towards the camera and the bullet hole is on the right side of his head instead of the left. And the XOF soldier even walks back to the patient and moves his head, to show the camera there is no hole on the left side where he was initially shot.
Another layer to this is that MGSV takes place in the past, while the mirror scene during the Outer Heaven Uprising and the playing of Big Boss's tape book ends the beginning and ending in the game's present day. That means everything that we see in MGSV is Venom's memory and therefor isn't reliable. The entire timeline of events could be wrong as far as we know. Even in present day, Venom is hallucinating changes in his reflection. Audio tapes may also be used in V's hypnogogic brain washing to implant memories, and the same may be true for Big Boss's tape. Basically you can't trust anything you see in MGSV.
This is true, Paz’s tapes were never real to begin with, and despite both being in the room when she first showed up…neither mentions her ever again! Nothing we see or hear could be real!! It’s like what Dumbledore tells Harry Potter, “of course it is all happening in your head, but why should that mean it’s not real?” 🤔
5:00 This mirrored hem... I mean flipped Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker's Main Theme may also cause some major "Déjà-Vu" from MGSPW's Title Sequence in particular causing some "conflicts" of massive magnitude with the "good listener's" "internal timeline" 5:40 "for a S-Special reason."
For the sync shot, during my first couple play throughs, he did shoot the guy he was supposed to when I shot mine. But now I’m on my third or fourth play through, and he doesn’t do it anymore, so I think it might be a glitch. Unless he was never supposed to shoot, and the real glitch was him shooting the other guy all along. 😂
Ever since I've learned about the creator of MGS, Hideo Kojima, and the fact it is source is a Japanese writing translated to English, my focus shifted to trying to understand the game in it's original writing. The basic idea of which Kojima is trying to warn us, is the "Keep your eyes on Kazuhira", in original meaning "Be mindful what is happening in peace". With the MGS series being an anti-war propaganda, this makes me think how the actions during our current, quite peaceful era, will lead to another global conflict.
Here's another inconstistency: I was playing the side-op where you have to extract the AI pod from Huey's lab and I headed to the building where we find him in Hellbound. To my surprise the pod was not there and at first I thought it was a glitch. I was on my way to leave the area and come back when I decided to check the other building you can enter in(the one at the center of the base,it has the same doors as the one from the Hellbound mission) and I was shocked to find Emmerich's lab and the AI pod in this second building at the center of the base. Also, I interrogated some soldiers upon entering the base and none of them pointed the location of the pod which is weird since in all of the missions (both main and side-ops) the enemies will always tell you where your objective/target is unless you already have it marked using the Int-scope or by a buddy. I don't think it was the soviets who moved the lab from one building to another while bothering to keep almost the same exact placements of the objects, furniture etc. what would be the point? This made me think this was intentionally done to mess with the player since I don't think the devs never noticed Huey's lab being in a different location during this side op. In all of my years playing this game I never noticed this and I believe it is also due to the fact that you cannot replay story side ops (like visit Quiet etc.). Edit: grammar
If I could change one thing about V, would be that when you finally hear the tape from Big Boss and see him and Ocelot’s secret meeting, David Hayter would’ve been the voice, GZ was Venom’s memory of the event like you said
I think for the shadow topic that when we are playing Ground Zeroes, we are playing it in the form of the memory manipulation from Venom's point of view. His recollection from an event that's already passed. Hence why Miller's story of Paz doesn't line up and the shadows of "Snake" in both games are the same resembling the avatar/player's character. Makes sense to me; I could be wrong.
Every new video about MGSV makes me hope to learn something new. Thank you so much for pointing out "flaws" that are completely new to me. I remember discussing with friends back in the day how detailed some of those casette recordings really sounded like. Actually mixed in surround if I'm not mistaken. I always maintained that those "Truth" tapes should've been full-fledged cutscenes, but that detail about the door just made me change my mind. Yet another layer that adds to the mystery of MGSV. Still to this day, my favourite game ever made. And with all it's shenanigans, no single game captures the emptiness of Afghanistan as well as this game did to me. Keep up the good work.
Very intriguing! All we need, now, is for the Man himself (Mr. Kojima) to make a follow up video, confirming your theories. Can you imagine? That would be insanely awesome!
Im convinced Ground Zeroes Big Boss is the real Boss. Why? Because his animations are different than those in the Phantom Pain. In particular the way he moves his body while in the crouching position. The real Big Boss uses his whole upper torso to redistribute his weight while turning in the sneaking position (it looks really good and must require crazy strength if you think about it). “Big Boss” in the Phantom Pain does not move in this way. No upper torso movement at all while sneaking.
It could just be tweaks made to MGSV because of the development gap. I noticed a fair bit of changed animations or tweaks made from GZ to TPP and they don't seem narrative related.
It would make no sense for the devs to not notice the flipped head of the patient - remember, animation and creating a scene is not a simple and quick process - you gotta make sure, especially when you work for KojiPro, that everything is "perfect". So I'm sure they looked at the scene hundreds of times and someone WOULD notice a flaw as obvious as this.
Way I see it, the patient either never fully turned toward the soldier or did a quick flinch back to the curtain that we didn’t see as it would have been obscured. Also makes sense that V’s mind is slowly becoming less distorted back and forth, so seeing the man get up and turn could have been a minute, but his perception was it was mere seconds 🤷🏼♂️ kinda how when you first get up and are groggy, someone could be calling your name for awhile before you respond or you don’t see a full object until much later
@@Tweed.Echidna I just saw a freecam video, the patient stands up and turns away from the soldier. The shadow looks ok from their side. What the player sees is a flipped version of the shadow casted on the cloth! Like a mirrored version instead of a shadow projection. That's why it looks so weird when the patient turns
Despite its flaws, MGSV is one of the best games ever. And as you have pointed out, many of the supposed "flaws" or plot-holes in the game are ambiguous in nature, on further inspection they may actually be intentional. This ambiguity contributes to the depth of the mystery threaded through every single element of the game. Thank you PythonSelkan for enriching my experience with this fantastic game from Ground Zeroes onward. As a side note, I've asked in a different post but I'm copypasting here in hopes that you'll respond. Help me out PythonSelkan! Here goes: PythonSelkan, have you guys looked into the Dark City (1998) connection to MGSV in any of your videos? As far as I'm concerned, the casting of Kiefer Sutherland as the voice of Big Boss is a direct reference to Dark City, as the psychological themes of the movie and the game overlap very intricately. Themes include: body snatching, memory/identity insertion, the imposition of massive orchestrated false reality for the purpose of researching human nature (MGS2 theme), brain injury leading to perceptual distortion (of the Sutherland characters in both Dark City and MGSV), and more! I think this link implies a much more sinister role played by Big Boss in MGSV than is apparent on a surface level, because the Sutherland character in Dark City is a master in memory manipulation and psychological control. Kojima himself being apparently fascinated with the theme of "identity duplexing," false identities, and parallel realities, it seems pretty improbable to me that it's not intended. I also think (personal headcanon) that we never see the real Big Boss during MGSV and that's why he has another man's voice. Maybe I just really, really want to see a return of David Hayter. If you haven't looked at this link, consider this comment free intel. If you've covered this in a video I would appreciate a link to that video for my own research.
Also, the Stand By Me connection. I'll leave it to you guys to figure out how that one lines up, it's pretty obvious. Very powerful thematic and archetypal layering, Kojima is an absolute genius.
@@realmdma There's a scene where they reveal that the doctor had his brains scrambled by the Strangers, and it's implied that it's the cause of his hobbling and stammering. I watched the Director's Cut, maybe it's not in the original cut.
in the cassette tape recording of zero visiting venom and bb, there's this sound that you can hear on both sides like the sound psycho mantis makes in mgsv in cutscenes, you can hear the same sound at the start of the cassette tape of zero and paz, which doesn't make any sense.
Those are great details that I've never thought of, I really hope kojima writes a book or does a video explaining this and the issues behind MGS 5, great video.
Imagine David Hayter returns as Big Boss/Solid Snake in MGS6 and all the details PythonSelkan has theorised are confirmed and explained in the upcoming game...or Konami could just throw away Kojima's work and give us a mediocre sequel
Punished Venom snake is not Solid Snake or Naked Snake. Why would you want anyone other than David Hayter to voice these characters? This comment really irritates me.
You most likely won't care as many others, But i have to say that as someone who never believed in any of these theories and always dismissed them (because honestly, most of the videoes i had watched prior to this were really reaching for some imaginary stuff) you really got my attention, I can't say Kojima is truly the perfectionist because let's face it, We're all human after all and none of us is exempt from making mistakes and errors, And in MGS V you'll find more of these than in other MGS games (could be due to working conditions etc) but some of the stuff you pointed out does make sense and actually shows some real stuff other than frame by frame analysis that some other channels do, So take that as whatever it is but i'd never see myself believing anything like and i'm someone who's never truly sure of anything.
Regarding number 7 (17:18) What if there is another layer to the revelation that we are not the real Big Boss, what if due to Venom's shrapnel/horn, he physically sees himself as Big Boss (As he believes he is), but everyone else still sees him as the Medic but just acts like he is Big Boss. It would also explain the shadows, since in the real world, his appearence was always the Medic's appearence, and not Big Boss. So basically, during the whole game our true appearence was that of the Medic, but due to hallucination, we see Big Boss instead. Great video as always!
That would contradict Metal Gear 1 where Solid Snake and the rest of Foxhound most definitely know and recognize Big Boss since the real one is their leader
Shadows are misleading. Good example is the spinning black silhouette, where it's impossible to tell which way it's spinning. So it's entirely possible that patient actually started looking at assailant, then turned away and finally got shot.
XOF shoots a guy in the head in the hospital when you are underneath the bed witnessing it right in front of you but the entry wound ends up on the opposite side of the head. (side of his head that was facing the ground)
For the inverted "Diamond Dogs" reflective imagery is everywhere in the game. Whether it's character looking at each other, to Kaz talking about Cypher being the one above and how Kaz was the parasite below. Even in your helicopter you can see numbers and text are reflected... you can also see Venom in the reflection of the window you're sitting next to at night
one more thing to clue you into venom snake not being big boss is that big boss has a blind spot on the right side of the screen when you enter first person after he loses his right eye during operation snake eater, this is not featured when you enter first person as venom snake.
PT IS A NIGHTMARE V HAS LIKE BIG BOSS IN MGS3 IT JUST CLICKED AT 2:31 bro i have chills and im only at number 2 holy crap Something is coming this year. Did you see hideo and his twitter? he keeps retweeting a LOT of MGS V stuff. 9 years later.... as if... V has come to
So i know this video is a year old so I'm behind the 8ball. But the idea that Ground Zeros is reliving the mission from a hypnotic memory could also explain David Hayter not voicing Snake. Because he'd be remembering from his perspective
Amazing video! 🥰 I always thought that the containers were stolen from Mother Base by Skullface (or a pmc used by Skull face) as a reference to the online element of the game.. but then deliberately placed there so that Venom can see how close Skullface has always been to him? So it's a way to mock Venom, but also baby Mantis is there, can we trust anything we see? 👀 I love your idea of Kaz being involved too, it makes a lot of sense! Kaz seems to have been interrogated viciously and for a long time when Venom actually finds him, and I think Kaz has been moved repeatedly according to Ocelot (I'm not sure though). Kaz would have died from blood loss without immediate medical intervention during and after interrogation, and moving him in that state is perilous too? The mgs2 clips reminded me of everyone saying that Olga's child was male, and that female Sonny was a retcon. However Olga never says the gender of her child, she always say 'my child' or baby. She never even held her child 🥺 and gets photos sent once a month via Network (which makes sense as it is also how she receives orders). We don't see any of these photos but the child could easily and probably be dressed in neutral clothing. So Olga may never have known she had a daughter. It's actually Solid Snake at the end of mgs2 that first says 'he'. Even Raiden only says 'he' after Snake does? It could easily be a translation error or something leftover from the original script, I know that a lot of languages indicate gender differently, BUT I do think it could be that Snake has already heard from Otacon about information they recovered from GW and Sonny is referred to as 'he' in the data. Snake puts a tracker on Ocelot's Ray and then a lot of time passes before he seems to meet Raiden again. Also NO ONE is really looking at the massive destruction caused by Arsenal during that scene!? I know it's a way of talking to the player, but I think maybe Raiden is still struggling to put together everything that has just happened? Not unlike Venom struggling in mgs5? But I'm not sure. Even if there is a mistake or a retcon, because everything is done so well and because the team are so talented, I think they could easily use it as an opportunity to make an even more interesting story, which is awesome! But I completely agree the details in this video are deliberate, and absolutely fascinating! I always remember being so confused by the door sounds! I wonder if Zero recovers Venom (but not Big Boss), and moves him to another hospital at some point, and that's when we hear the audio of Zero? Before Venom is recovered and the beginning of mgs5 happens. Because Big Boss's injuries are completely different to Venom, he may have recovered and woken slightly earlier than Venom. Also for safety reasons keeping Venom and Big Boss separate makes more sense. That might be why we have the audio, did Ocelot or Eva put a listening device on Venom? Is that how Ocelot recovers the body on the river in mgs4 so easily, because he knows its a trick that Eva has done before? Thank you for the awesome video! 😊❤️
you missed the diamond dog logo switching to outer heaven in the ending when venom/demon punches his reflection in the mirror when listening to the cassette tape
I mentioned this a few times before to other people but I feel like I'm the only one who also points out the 2 other earliest signs of telling people you're a different man. 1) No snake/s scar on your torso that is prominent in peace walker as a symbol of Big Boss's attachment and unwillingness to let go of the Boss until the he felt abandoned by her mammal pod. 2) That his right eye is still in his head. Big Boss's eye burst from the muzzle flash of Ocelot's revolver, which even in the best case scenario, would leave horrible and very visible scarring. Whereas Venom Snake's eye stalk got severed by the shrapnel horn, which caused the faded but intact eye. I originally thought it was just overlooked things, but after beating the game, these things were just more subtle hints at the truth
If the boss has his snake stitch then I would believe it ,canon or not I would like to believe he did get the scar resemblance of his mentor. Venom doesn’t have the same scar just tears everywhere else from the explosion.
What if Psycho Mantis and Ocelot were in charge of brainwashing Venom? Psycho Mantis constantly appears and disappear through out the whole game. It’s no coincidence that both were at Shadow Mosses. Perhaps, psycho mantis was with us for a big portion of the game, while invisible. The Chico rescue scene always convince me we weren’t Big Boss. Maybe Psycho Mantis hypnotized Chico to see us as Big Boss. Unlike Kaz, Chico fought a little. Kaz being legally blind kept him from seeing he wasn’t Big Boss. MSF lost soldiers ran away in the side missions like Chico tried to do. Or Psycho Mantis has been with us this whole time influencing what we and others see. How exactly did Psycho Mantis get into the chopper with kid Liquid? Did a real explosion destroy the elevator and not Volgin inferno reincarnation? We didn’t kill Psycho Mantis at all in MSG V. At Shadow Mosses, he died. Perhaps Psycho Mantis act as an invisible wall to guide us through the whole story. If it was his goal to kill Venom, then surely he could’ve done just that at our weakest state at the hospital. Hypnosis and telekinesis Volgin attacks used to traumatize Snake’s fake memories to get us on track. Basically, Venom was a puppet on the strings the whole time.
I dont remember the details, but he follows a specific emotion I dont remember. He makes a flaming whale appear, that was because he connected to Venom (he has horns on his head). At the fight against Man on Fire, Man on Fire freezes, thats because Mantis stops controling him and starts to check on the kid that is suffering on the bed. So I dont think he is guiding us. He connects with people constantly through the game. You know who he is connected to by checking the deatails on his body. Venom is a horn and Man on Fire a flame. I think theres more but I checked this out years ago and I dont remember.
@@MemoriesLP Revenge is what draws Mantis in and connects him to people. Every person he connects with has a burring need for revenge MoF against BB, Shabani when hes dying in the devils house, Venom when he regains conciseness and remembers what happened 9 years ago, SkullFace and his hate for the people that took his identity, and Eli for his hate of BB and the people that would take his and the kids freedom away
I honestly think 95% of what you speculate is probably true and accurate. Considering it took us 10+ years to fully understand every Metal Gear game, particularly MGS2, I don’t see why it would be any different for the finale of the series. Kojima truly is brilliant when it comes to video games. In short… MGSV has aged like a magnificent wine.
somehow despite my numerous playthroughs of pw and mgsv, i never actually put two and two together and realized snake left kaz behind because of him being a "parasite below feeding off of cypher" or something so. mindblowing i was that oblivious
Love this game. Used to be a pro invader. I'm downloading it again because of you, so when you all log back on and have nothing, you have this guy to thank lol. Seriously though, cool video!
My first thought about the DD resources at OKB Zero was that they were simply stolen by XOF. I guess there's also the possibility that XOF wanted to frame DD in some way at some point.
As for the shadow not matching the hair, it could very well be an engine limitation. What do the character shadows look like in MGSV when you select Raiden, or certain DD soldiers? Does this also happen in Metal Gear Survive?
Kojima Production do make mistakes, especially when Kojima make changes retroactively. That's why Dr. Clark name, gender and time of death got scrambled.
Awesome analysis as usual @pythonselkan some of these theories I didn’t even think of or didn’t see what you see so great angles of what can be the story. I noticed you didn’t mention in the kaz theory of working with skull face as his voice is heard saying “give her the shot already!!” In ground zeroes paz torture tape. I knew miller was a traitorous slimebag since peace walker so it makes perfect sense him working with skull face since before the original mother base goes down in ground zeroes
Super crazy to learn all these thing :) just fyi though since you were saying stuff about it "not being patched yet" or stuff like that and sadly Konami let the last worker who knew the Fox engine a few or so years back so unless they re-hire/contract Kojima and allow him to re-hire the Fox engine workers or hire new people and train them (which I would LOVE) it's sadly not going to change any at all. :/

All of the mirrored text and reversed imagery really recontextualizes the mirror being smashed at the end.
A 31 minute video? PythonSelkan is smiling upon us this day.
I will never not be pissed about Battle Gear and how they massacred muh boy. God damn. All I wanted was to pilot Battle Gear.
In one of the sude missions of Ground Zeroes, when you grab the target of that mission, he will ask if you're one of the phantoms.
Atfer playing all the mgs series and watching the story unfold over 20 years. The level of detail is astounding and i can't imagine that all these circumstances were "mistakes"
One thing I will never doubt is Kojima, and when it comes to Kojima, ANYTHING can be hidden in plain sight.
What happened to the Woman?
"The Woman ? She.. We gave her a light, she took the short way down "
Does anyone else notice that the upcoming news/rumors of new MGS game is *9 YEARS* after the last game?
Oh this is why they changed voice actor for both Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain! That makes a lot of sense
the reflection in the window at night is something new I learned!
And the XOF soldier even walks back to the patient and moves his head, to show the camera there is no hole on the left side where he was initially shot.
sounds like it was an actual game mistake. they just mirrored the model and forgot about it later on
@@lilpulloutthe joy of having a unreliable narrator. You can brush aside the mistakes as hallucinations.
👏👏
This is true, Paz’s tapes were never real to begin with, and despite both being in the room when she first showed up…neither mentions her ever again! Nothing we see or hear could be real!!
It’s like what Dumbledore tells Harry Potter, “of course it is all happening in your head, but why should that mean it’s not real?” 🤔
I think ground zeroes was actually just the brainwashing. Kinda how raiden goes through vr missions to copy snake
I think the fliped text in the poster is because of the XOF
23:00 Frank’s missing the very same eye as Venom
For the sync shot, during my first couple play throughs, he did shoot the guy he was supposed to when I shot mine. But now I’m on my third or fourth play through, and he doesn’t do it anymore, so I think it might be a glitch. Unless he was never supposed to shoot, and the real glitch was him shooting the other guy all along. 😂
Man I love these analyses...
I never would have noticed that those 2 doors sound different....
damn bro
these "mistakes" are too obvious for kojima to make, he is very perfectionist and wants details. these are there by choice.
There is no such thing as a coincidence, or "accident."
Very true 👍
Remember that this game had development complications thanks to konami though. And in any game some details might fall through cracks
@@donjon-n7 The unintended consequences from hanging plot threads of an unfinished story are just another phantom pain.
Kojima is still only human
Ever since I've learned about the creator of MGS, Hideo Kojima, and the fact it is source is a Japanese writing translated to English, my focus shifted to trying to understand the game in it's original writing. The basic idea of which Kojima is trying to warn us, is the "Keep your eyes on Kazuhira", in original meaning "Be mindful what is happening in peace". With the MGS series being an anti-war propaganda, this makes me think how the actions during our current, quite peaceful era, will lead to another global conflict.
Here's another inconstistency:
I was playing the side-op where you have to extract the AI pod from Huey's lab and I headed to the building where we find him in Hellbound.
His recollection from an event that's
already passed.
Awesome video! This really changed my perspective on mgs5 and made be want to replay it again!
Same here man. I can't lie, I played all the games but thought Kojima was a pretentious hack until diving into these videos
No upper torso movement at all while sneaking.
arent you forgetting the fact Venom Snake has a prosthetic arm
It could just be tweaks made to MGSV because of the development gap. I noticed a fair bit of changed animations or tweaks made from GZ to TPP and they don't seem narrative related.
@@MamoMark Tweaks to make his sneaking animation worse?.. Hideo is not that kind of guy.
… I mean yeah. He goes into the coma AFTER GZ. The heli crash is what causes it. Not that hard to figure out if you played the game…

Good point. Has anyone used a free camera?
Way I see it, the patient either never fully turned toward the soldier or did a quick flinch back to the curtain that we didn’t see as it would have been obscured. Also makes sense that V’s mind is slowly becoming less distorted back and forth, so seeing the man get up and turn could have been a minute, but his perception was it was mere seconds 🤷🏼♂️
kinda how when you first get up and are groggy, someone could be calling your name for awhile before you respond or you don’t see a full object until much later
@@Tweed.Echidna i believe that the standard mod menu for TPP has a free cam but ive never tried to use it in a cutscene tbh.
@@Tweed.Echidna I just saw a freecam video, the patient stands up and turns away from the soldier. The shadow looks ok from their side. Wow, the hospital one is certainly mind blowing
Here goes:
PythonSelkan, have you guys looked into the Dark City (1998) connection to MGSV in any of your videos?
Btw, Sutherland’s character isn’t the one that suffered a head/brain injury in Dark City, that was Rufus Sewell’s character.
@@realmdma There's a scene where they reveal that the doctor had his brains scrambled by the Strangers, and it's implied that it's the cause of his hobbling and stammering. I watched the Director's Cut, maybe it's not in the original cut.
@@AnacreonSchoolbagsJr you might be right, I think it is the Directors cut
Avi Arad is the person who suggested Kiefer when Hideo was asking him for his opinion on a replacement.
in the cassette tape recording of zero visiting venom and bb, there's this sound that you can hear on both sides like the sound psycho mantis makes in mgsv in cutscenes, you can hear the same sound at the start of the cassette tape of zero and paz, which doesn't make any sense.
That would be awesome

@@jrtien Kiefer voiced Big Boss in Ground zeroes
It's amazing how I haven't noticed almost nothing of these. Nice video
The title is right in my case! I totally missed most of those details, great observations!
Regarding number 7 (17:18)
What if there is another layer to the revelation that we are not the real Big Boss, what if due to Venom's shrapnel/horn, he physically sees himself as Big Boss (As he believes he is), but everyone else still sees him as the Medic but just acts like he is Big Boss.
24:27 ... this is a case for Mulder and Scully indeed ;)
Great job! Love these analysis videos! 😎

Not sure if im ready for the emotional trauma of #2 again. Got teary just watching this video.
9 years almost over. Will the story continue, I wonder?
one more thing to clue you into venom snake not being big boss is that big boss has a blind spot on the right side of the screen when you enter first person after he loses his right eye during operation snake eater, this is not featured when you enter first person as venom snake.

Something is coming this year.
This fucking game is just something else.
I love your idea of Kaz being involved too, it makes a lot of sense!
I like how the title is "What Nobody Saw in MGSV" and the thumbnail is Big Boss wearing night vision goggles. That's funny
you missed the diamond dog logo switching to outer heaven in the ending when venom/demon punches his reflection in the mirror when listening to the cassette tape
Dude your passion for metal gear inspires me
Mannnnn I love this channel. You are amazing at catching the details sir.
Big boss has always been deceived. So, to make him not looking like a fool, Big boss deceives them back.
I think that the containers at OKB Zero were there because of Huey sending materials and being a sellout.
I originally thought it was just overlooked things, but after beating the game, these things were just more subtle hints at the truth
the popped eye thing makes so much sense. i completely forgot about that. his eye was literally shot, it wouldnt just be white like that.
If the boss has his snake stitch then I would believe it ,canon or not I would like to believe he did get the scar resemblance of his mentor. Venom doesn’t have the same scar just tears everywhere else from the explosion.
I think the flaws are intentional as Kojima think's unlike any other game developer so he would have noticed them if they weren't intentional

As for the shadow not matching the hair, it could very well be an engine limitation. What do the character shadows look like in MGSV when you select Raiden, or certain DD soldiers? Does this also happen in Metal Gear Survive?

Super crazy to learn all these thing :) just fyi though since you were saying stuff about it "not being patched yet" or stuff like that and sadly Konami let the last worker who knew the Fox engine a few or so years back so unless they re-hire/contract Kojima and allow him to re-hire the Fox engine workers or hire new people and train them (which I would LOVE) it's sadly not going to change any at all. :/
