I grew up in the Kalamazoo area and know every spot that was described in this video. I moved away a decade ago and haven't heard of this story before now, but it's wild to be able to visualize the entirety of the rampage and each location that was involved. Crazy stuff!

I live in Kalamazoo and I remember this night. It was really scary. I contacted as many people as I could and told them to be safe. We actually lived in an apartment complex about a mile away from the KIA dealership, and I was afraid he was gonna come our way. Hearing about all the people he killed that night really hurt everyone in the community. I’m glad he will rot in prison.

I live in the Kalamazoo-Portage area, but when this happened I was living in Battle Creek… one of my friends was close to Abigail Kopf and it was wonderful to be able to see her recovery but this senseless violence really shook me to my core😢

I remember watching the video of the victim in court. Her breaking down and crying for her mother as that man did what he did makes me cry to this day. Imagine being a grown woman, a mother yourself being reduced down to a little girl crying for your mother. It's heart breaking. I wanted to rush and give her a hug.
Devil didn't make him do anything. He had that evil in him his whole life. He was just good at hiding it till he snapped.

I feel so bad for the victims and their families, like I can’t imagine someone just calmly approaching and shooting like that. I can only imagine the survivors must have such a hard time trusting anyone, now. It’s also really sad for him and people like him though. That’s obviously not a well person. Even before he started talking about the devil, no sane person with no mental issues does what he did the way he did it. Obviously someone like that can never be re-introduced into society, but they should be locked up in a facility meant to treat people with criminally severe mental illnesses, not in a regular prison.
It’s also partly the USA’s fault, it’s mad that you can just pick up a gun as a mentally ill person and go on a rampage

I lived in Kalamazoo when this went down. I lived in an apartment and that was less then a mile away from the dealership where a father and son were killed. I remember seeing ppl on facebook talking about a guy randomly shooting ppl and to be careful.

I remember hearing this and watching it on tv while it was an hour away from me but it was so scary. It was something you never thought would happen and it just happened so quickly and how it was so erratic.

Sounds like bipolar. He might’ve not had any symptoms until he took something that set it off.
My dad had a similar mental break in his 40s, though he didn’t hurt anyone. He never had a bipolar issue until he was given a steroid for a swollen lymph node. He didn’t even know he had bipolar until then. The steroid triggered his underlying bipolar and he had a psychotic break that permanently altered his mental state.
This incident seemed very similar to that.
Yes, undiagnosed and untreated mental illness can come out like this.

I am from Kalamazoo and remember that night like it was yesterday. A friend of mine was working when Abby was brought in. It was so surreal and scary. Stuff like that just doesn’t happen in southwest Michigan

I remember this as I live in west Michigan. It was all over the news and the whole region was in shock in what had happened. I remember seeing the news and thinking it was another shooting, but it was a lot closer to home than I realized. Scared me so much.

I watched this on the news, and couldn't believe that this rampage happened. I am very cautious with Uber and Lyft while I was residing at Honolulu. The lives of the people this monster took shouldn't be in vain. Uber and Lyft should have a system that can trace or track their employees, that should have mandatory dash cameras built into the system. It should be connected with there Uber or Lyft dashboard light sign. Once the vehicle owner(s) start their uber or Lyft shift. It should be mandatory they log on to the system which should be linked directly to the vehicles Tags , serial number and color. On CCTV camera and SOS response system with Local law and emergency enforcement. In the first sight of trouble or erratically driving. 1st responders could control the situation.

Tiana and Abby lived for others. Tiana wanted to save her kids and their friends who were with them. Those kids must have been praying "please save mommy". Those women Abby were with are the reason she's alive. In their last moments they were praying "please save abby". Those prayers saved the two. Hope Tiana and Abby are doing much better despite the horror they went through. Dalton must have had some racism buried deep in him. Why else would he react the way he did to Tiana. So despicable of him.
