Which cuisine would you like to see veganized next? All recipes are linked in the description box!
Japanese and Italian (without having to use store-bought vegan cheeses)
polish or filipino or any eastern european which I feel are all traditionally meat heavy
Korean!
@@KavyaBobba exactly this!
Turkish cuisine or Bulgarian cause it is my home country
While it is true that Greeks do like their meat, they traditionally cut out all animal products during Lent and because their love for food is too much to compromise on any flavour, a whole cuisine was invented (aka "nistisima") for the Lent period which is effectively vegan! (with the exception of the occasional sea food or honey dish which you can easily ignore) I've seen a lot of vegan moussakas out there and yours is by far the most authentic-looking! Will definitely give it a try! With love from Athens xx
Hi Natalia, thanks for sharing that! I hadn't heard of nistisima, but I am intrigued and will look it up :) I'm glad you're excited to try my version of vegan moussaka!
There’s a great new recipe book out this year called Nistisima! Definitely worth a look. Craving moussaka now, scheduling it for my next day off! ❤
That's right, nistísima (νηστίσιμα) are essentially fast-worthy foods. Modern Greek culture being heavily defined by Eastern Christian traditions, our cuisine contains a lot of dishes, savoury and sweet, which are appropriate for the fasting periods, which isn't just the 40-50 days before Pascha, but also the period leading up to Christmas, the Dormition of the Virgin, together with other one-off days.
This is true! I lived in Cyprus for 3 years and it was the easiest place to find vegan food everywhere (of course, if you ask the locals for vegan food then they’ll tell you there’s nothing for you but if you ask for anything νηστίσιμα you’ll have quite a lot of dishes to choose from) ❤️
I love the subscriber taste tests.
Greek here...👍👍👍
The Mediterranean diet uses a lot of vegetables and fruits.
It's very healthy and low budget.
Traditionally we eat dairy and meat free foods on Wednesday and Friday.
Such as peas, green beans ,veggie staws, lentils, okra , etc
We make a lot of pies (tyropita-cheese pie, spanakopita-spinach,...with mushrooms etc)
I am a vegetarian and it's easy for me, because there are a lot of traditional recipies.
Keep up the good work...
Spanakopita used to be one my favorites! I need to try a vegan version soon :) Thanks for sharing more about your traditional diet :)
OOOH! This looks divine! Could you do a Chinese, Filippino, Thai, and French feast please?!?!?! THANK YOU!! Actually could you just keep doing these feasts for every type of cuisine? Your recipes are THE BEST! Everything is so flavorful!
LOL every cuisine might be tough but I appreciate all the suggestions and so happy you love my recipes!
And Turkish too!
❤french cuisine 🎉, I’ll be there and learn…
So for Filipino food, Healthy Food Ph is a good start. It started off as a flexitarian recipe channel but now it is all vegan.
Vietnamese!!
Actually there are a lot of traditional Greek dishes that are vegetarian/vegan, including desserts, due to religious customs... also the cuisine varies across the country, each region has its specialities. If you want to explore more Greek cuisine can recommend an incredible braised chickpea dish called Revithada, kounipidi kapama which is cauliflower in tomato and cinnamon sauce, briam, tomato fritters, lemon and lentil soup.... mmmmm
If you want to make more Greek recipes, you should made briam, fava, stuffed grape leaves! Traditionally vegan and super super yummy
Ooh great tip! I love grape leaves.
Love this! Please do more of these "FEAST" videos 🙂 Helps a lot when I am inviting people over
I love that idea :) Any suggestions for future feasts?

love the couples and the multigenerational families and community centers trying and building beautiful meals and memories together! Of course, the recipes and your lovely personality always inspire- thank you. 💝
I loved all of that too! So sweet too see :) Thank you Melissa!
ANY cuisine you make, I’m down. Every recipe I have tried of yours is 10/10. You converted me to an eggplant lover recently, which is unreal. Cannot wait to try these! Thank you!!
What recipe made you love eggplant? I want to try it but afraid I won't like it 🙊
@@n.e9831 I don’t know where my reply went, but it is her recipe for Baingan Bharta!
I appreciate that one of the taste testers made both the lentil and mock meat version of your moussaka. The results surprised me, didn't expected people to like the lentil one more.
Same! I think it really depends on the quality/flavor of your vegan meat. I tried this with Impossible burger and loved it, but didn't like it with Beyond Burger meat, as the taste was too artificial. With the lentil version, it doesn't taste as meaty, but you know what you're getting.
@@RainbowPlantLife Interestingly enough, I recall having watched a video of two women who made a "cheap vs expensive vegan lasagna" test. The taste testor was only one guy (not a big sample size, sure) but I was surprised that he preferred the lasagne made with lentils and nuts, even mentioning how that one tasted more "authentic".
That reminded me of your Lentil boglonese recepie, which also scored better than the version with vegan meat (was it beyond beef?).
Omg as a Greek I almost cried watching this 😭 I wish I could get this food here!! I was never a big fan of mousaka but this looks amazing! And I miss kolokythokeftedes and tzatziki 😍 Thank you for sharing these recipes and doing such an amazing job 🙏🇬🇷 💙
I’m so happy you enjoyed watching this video! Hope you’ll get to try these recipes 🤗
@@RainbowPlantLife Maybe I'll find someone who can cook for me, especially the mousaka looks like a math equation to me 😅 Or a super hard choreography! Some of us find cooking excruciatingly hard haha
Can you make it without the"meat* I do not care for fake meat
This Greek vegan eats tzatziki (almond/soy yogurt)meletzanasalata, spanakopita (tofu feta) and gigantes on a regular basis. My family def. ate meat but more as an accent to everything else. Only thing I really miss is real feta (goat/sheep milk).
I'm from Romania and we have lots of Greek and Turkish inspired recipes that are considered part of our cuisine. My mother used to make a great moussaka (musaca in Romanian) and those meatloaves (chiftele in Romanian... They might be more Turkish in origin, though). In the winter, she used to make moussaka with potatoes and in the summer time, with eggplants. They were my favourite foods and I miss my mother's cooking so much!
esti din sud/nord? eu in ardeal nu am mancat niciodata musaca
@@imedra O, te invidiez, Ardealul are multe delicii culinare! Eu sunt din Bucuresti. La noi in casa se facea destul de des musaca, mai ales ca era printre preferatele mele. Iar de Revelion, aproape in fiecare an, mama facea sarailie.
Nisha, honestly, everything you make is so good - I always want to try every recipe you make, and I'm definitely making this one this weekend! Thank you for all you do for the plant-based community!
A good alternative to pre-made vegan feta is to make your own with tofu or a more neutral vegan cheese that you marinade in olive oil, white wine vinegar, lemon juice and lots of oregano. Comes out super delicious and oozing of feta goodness.
I would love to see you do an English breakfast. Your tofu scramble is awesome, cooked mushrooms and grilled tomatoes are easy, but what would you do about the bacon, sausage, and black pudding? Loved this video as always, and while I'm not entirely vegan, your recipes are on regular rotation in my house and my boyfriend can't even tell the difference a lot of the time ❤❤❤
Great job, Nisha and team. Thanks for allowing us to prepare.
Thank you, Mitesh! We loved your reaction video (especially Yiayia!)
I made this dish twice after two other failed moussaka attemps from other recipes. This one is the most authentic and you hit is out of the park with true full flavors, resulting in the most delicious greek comfort food! The bechamel topping seemed a little insubstantial the first time, so I mixed in a bottle of "Just Egg" with your bechamel recicipe and it was even better, fluffy & delicate, like non vegan authernic Moussaka. I love this recipe, but I believe even better now with the tweak. Nisha, you continue to raise the bar in Vegan cuisine, always grateful to You!
Germans are so critical, and generally used to bland food! Don't take it to heart.
Can't wait to try these exciting recipes! 😍
I hope you do a Jewish food video someday. I've been searching for the elusive perfect matzoh ball recipe...
Love the idea of country themed feasts. Had the time of my life visiting Greece as a a teen. As a Frenchie, I am eagerly waiting for you to cover my country's vegan traditions (a tip for the ratatouille that changes everything: paprika)
I seriously feel you deserve mega recognition for your recipes and your videos!!! This looks amazing, and I have just gotten from a neighbor beautiful home grown eggplant to make this dish. Much Aloha 🌺🙏😎
I absolutely love watching your videos! I come for the delicious recipes, but I stay for your personality! You are so goofy and funny, all around wholesome to watch hahaha. Just wanted to let you know that you're editing is so funny especially the violife feta cheese hoarding face you made xD. Anyways thanks for sharing such wonderful recipes with us! Can't wait to try! Also I really see your channel popping off, and I love how you get your community involved by trying the recipes, I think thats so unique and so helpful for us viewers.
🥰 thank you for this sweet comment! So happy you enjoy the recipes and videos and all my quirks 😂
⬆️⬆️ 👍
these recipes look so good, i'm def making that moussaka asap!! i would love to see a moroccan, ethiopian, korean or brazilian feast in the future bc i'm always trying to veganize the cuisines i used to love but i don't always have the cash to recipe test lol
This looks delicious!! When I was in Greece, I tried a dish called briam that's already traditionally vegan, it's similar to ratatouille but with Greek spices 😋
zucchini fritters sound absolutely amazing - i have eaten similar dishes and they are some of my favorite foods
I was so excited to even just see the recipes, but I'm really loving the feedback from people making the dishes at home! That was not only so helpful but wholesome as heck ;-; Really wonderful
I appreciate that you explain what you’re doing and WHY! Like, taking it off the heat so it won’t thicken. I appreciate your steps and explanations.
I'm a 23-year-old Hungarian girl, I live the capital, and so to rent an apartment here alone is quite expensive,. I've lived in a small place for a few years now, can’t complain, it's cozy and it's in a beautiful green area, I have my electric piano and I can play anytime etc...but I don't have a proper kitchen to prepare all these fascinating repices you bless us with. I have this vision in my head that once I get to move to a larger place, one of the first things i'm gonna do is cook and bake based on your videos. Not only are the recipes amazing, but your personality makes all your videos so heart-warming.
I made everything in this video and it was absolutely incredible. Your dishes are always by far the best across all the vegan chefs I watch. Thank you for always sharing your wonderful recipes and keep it up!
your recipes are always so amazing and wholesome!
I LOVE this new style of video you are doing! It’s really easy to watch vegan creators make recipes and think it must taste good but it’s awesome to hear about the experience and taste from others who may not be as experienced as you! It’s very wholesome and creative and it makes you really stand out with this super refreshing content!
I laughed out loud more than once Nisha thanks for all your work recipes and comedy. 💜💜💜
Ha! Yay! That makes me so happy!
Amazing recipes and actually so so close to the authentic Greek ones!! Thaaank you for such beautiful content!
I loved this video not only because I am greek but because you are putting in so much effort into your videos and also inviting taste testers! Thank you Nisha
Really inspirational recipes, and it was great to have the taste testers thoughts, soo inclusive. Thank you so much
Wow, the moussaka and Greek salad look amazing!
love it!!!!! making this meal on Sunday - perfect use for all of the garden tomatoes!!!! can’t wait!
Thank you you're the best!
I'm greek I'll try it and let you know because everything I tried from your recipes are amazing!
Nisha, everything looks so good. I hope to prepare each dish. Thank you for all your work on this and for sharing with us.
These all look delicious! I’ll definitely try them out- and as many other Greeks have said, we actually have a lot of naturally vegan dishes! I highly recommend you try out fasolakia (green beans in tomato and herb sauce), briam (Greek ratatouille), gemista (rice and herb stuffed tomatoes that can be made with or without meat), and melitzana salata (translates to eggplant salad but it’s more like an eggplant dip)!
OMG I LOVE THAT YOU EXPLORED THIS CUISINE!
I'm glad that you're excited!
Dear Nisha thanks for all your recepices and a very happy New Year ❣️❣️❣️❣️
I made the moussaka for Christmas Eve dinner and it was awesome! Thanks for the recipe! Highly recommend to others
Thank you for including information on allergy friendly alternatives!
This really is a fantastic recipe - has become a family fav. Thank you!
This video makes me hungry and the reactions are soooo cool to watch!
Well done Nisha! 👏👏🌱
That line from My Big Fat Wedding has always cracked me up! I made your Moussaka today. Lots of work, but the results are delicious! Didn’t add the panko crumbs. So many flavors made it very complex and interesting. Loved it!
OKAY THIS IS THE REAL DEAL! Great video as always! Gonna try all of these this weekend
My goodness this looks so gooooddddddd, I'm Greek so I'm so happy to see this video!!!
Amazing, as every other recipe I've recreated! Thank you
Omg, have to make these. I used to live next door to the most wonderful Greek woman, and she brought some kind of food every day, here’s to Betty’s memory. Thanks for zooming me back in time.
“ Mildly crazy” 😊
Ooh yummmm these recipes sound awesome. Thanks for sharing 🥰❤️
Actually, in Greece, they have a lot of vegan recipes and because they're very religious and the lent period you can find them almost everywhere all the time vegan options.
And fun fact, the Vegan feta cheese you used is from a greek brand Violife, the biggest vegan cheese manufacturer in the world, we eat it all the time, and my kids absolutely love it.
Cooked it yesterday, and I'll do it again 🤤
Great video, everything looks delicious, I want to make this entire meal for a dinner party, I know it would be a hit! Love you and the taste testers are a great addition to your videos..
THAT LOOKS SO GOOD!
OMG, I just learned how great rutabagas are and I am totally going to try this with it. Can't wait!
Can't wait to make these, especially moussaka!
I made a greek feast in January. Moussaka took a long time. So glad I was making other things at the same time
Cooked, was delicious and all family loved it
Beloved Misha
Gurrrrrrllll you killing the plant base game across the globe. I'm a East Texan and I must say you give me LIFE...
Aww you make me blush! 😊
I made the moussaka and it's delicious! I had to substitute shitake mushrooms for cremini since my store didn't have any, and I couldn't find the porcini mushroom powder, but it's still delicious! This is the third recipe of yours I've made and they are all fantastic! I'm trying Dal next week. I ordered fenugreek leaves but they don't arrive until Tuesday.
I found dried porcini mushrooms and ground them in my small coffee grinder. Worked great!
@@lisag6528 Hmm... that's a good idea!
Looks absolutely delicious!
Thank you, fantastic, i must try.
“Light hoarding” when vegan cheeses are on sale is one of my favorite hobbies!
Oooooh,I have to try that moussaka! Looks tasty!
Wow you are just so precious in spirit and attitude... Reminds me of my darling daughter so I love you. Never change and keep up the amazing, innovative culinary journey. I'm not vegan but I don't do eggs so these recipes are very useful. God bless Nish
This looks so good! I think I may make Moussaka for Thanksgiving.
I love the taste testing, for some reason it makes it feel like I could actually make this. Great video.
Nice show! I’m going to try them all. Cheers to the “gentleman” too!
Made the Moussaka tonight for dinner. It was amazing! I love eggplant but I’m terrible at cooking it. But this was an absolute hit! My husband that hates eggplant (yes I’m evil and make things he may not like). Really liked it and said to make it again. Love your videos. Thanks for being you!
I make a vegan pastitsio using Beyond beef because I love pasta and cinnamon!
In my state we have a place called Backyard Farms. They grow tomatoes year round, hydroponically in greenhouses, so our tomatoes always taste like fresh garden tomatoes. FYI, Follow Your Heart Feta is really good.
I always add 1 yellow bell pepper and 1 orange bell pepper to make my Greek salad extra beautiful and colorful 😋
Oooo, I've never had moussaka before. That looks soooo good!
I have been really making a lot of Korean Thai Vietnamese type recipes but still haven't mastered African. I order an African Peanut Stew from a wonderful vegan home delivery locally and it's heavenly. I have fond memories of living in a bigger urban area and going to Ethiopian restaurants.. great foods!!!
Hi Nisha i love your channel but i must say Greek food as a Mediterranean diet is very plant based as Greek people fast on multiple occasions due to religion (no meat, egg, dairy and sometimes olive oil). Some recipes you could try next are fava ( mashed split peas), gemista ( stuffed vegetables with rice and herbs), mpriam ( mixed vegetables like eggplant zuchini etc on tomato sauce), lentil soup, melintzanosalata (eggplant dip), fasolakia ( green beans cooked with carrots potatoes etc), mpamies ( okra in tomato sauce) to name a few 😊thank you for sharing i will definitely try these recipes
Thank you for sharing all these lovely dishes! I've had Greek fava bean dip and love it! And yes, I totally agree that the Mediterranean diet is very plant-based, but I really wanted to include that iconic clip from my big fat greek wedding LOL. And at least here in the U.S., it's unfortunately quite hard to find plant-based Greek food, likely catering to American palettes. My favorite restaurant in NYC used to be a Greek restaurant before I went vegan, but now all I can have on the menu is a beet salad or the horiatiki without feta 😭
Girl you level up all the time it's crazy.
Amazing greek food. Thank you ! ;)
greetings from greece!!! btw greeks use about x5 times the amount of olive oil for all of these recipes - and i'm not oversaying it!
LOL I know...but many vegans would just walk away if I did, so I tried to compromise.
@@RainbowPlantLife for sure!
Wow! This looks delicious
Hey Nisha been a while, glad your back. ☺️🙏🏼
The moussaka was fantastic!! Never made a vegan bechamel and it was so good. Don’t skip on the bread crumbs!
I love your videos especially the taste tester ones they are great 🙌 I have most of the ingredients for the moussaka so I must make this😁😁 I would also love to be a taste tester so I’m going to try to figure out where to sign up😁‼️
yay a new video I'm so excited waku waku!
So nice to hear you're excited!
I’ve been dying for a great vegan moussaka recipe because I love Greek food and I love eggplant! Thank you. I, however, am not Greek, even though my name may imply it. 😅
Okay ~ I truly love the new, utterly unique, worldwide taste testers feature!! Bravo Zulu!!
Great video!! I will definitely try this recipe.
What cooktop are you using?
We're Greek and my entire family is VEGAN and I CANNOT WAIT TO MAKE THIS FOR THEM. YAYY!!!
Moussaka, omg 😍
SO GOOD! Hope you try it out!
I was just wondering what i was going to make for Thanksgiving, and your video came up... what a great idea... unconventional and different..
Amazing :) deff making all of them :).. I am bosnian and I love greek food
Yay, I'm happy you're excited to try these recipes out !
I've learnt from Greeks that the stress is on the last 'a' = Moussaka'. I can't wait to try your recipes. Thanks!
I too learned that from some of my Greek taste testers but only after I had filmed this video 🙊 Hope you will love these recipes!
@@RainbowPlantLife 😝I see. I'll surely like your new recipes. The ones I've tried were all good.
Wow all look amazing... in my family we traditionally fry the eggplant and potatoes in mousaka and it it usually too heavy for the stomach.. i love your version will definitely try it even though i am not vegan.. Love from Cyprus 🇨🇾 ❤️
My local Greek restaurant makes vegetarian dolmathes that they serve with their Greek salads and I LoVE them. I wanna try your Zucchini fritters ! 🇬🇷💙🧿
I use VioLife Feta too. That is the best oprion and they kinda similar in taste. A few years ago it wasn't so good but now they got the thing.
Thank you so much for not only giving us vegan options but also actually picking Greek recipes instead of making the most popular Turkish dishes and calling them Greek which so so many people seem to do for whatever reason
These all look sooo good! Would the moussaka be good as a meal prep recipe?
When I was in Greece I asked for vegetarian option at the little family owned hotel we stayed at and they cooked me the best dish of my life
It's green beans in a garlicky tomato sauce with a shit ton of olive oil, and it was so fucking good
I've made it many times since, but it never truly came close to what they made
Greek tomatoes taste like HEAVEN
Looks delicious! Need to try this soon. I wonder if you can make a vegan meal out of, what we call in the Netherlands 'Stoofvlees'. It's a typical Dutch or Belgium food.
I loved this dish for years, but as a vegetarian it's hard to create a good one. :)
