We had so much fun making this video with our very own RPL community! Which food should we tackle next in this series?
Collard greens please
Gravy for biscuits or something with mushrooms
Marmite? It's a good source of B vitamins but it is absolutely rancid on toast
Kidney beans :/
Tofu! I love tofu with an undying passion but many people are afraid of it or think it is gross 😢. But it is a beautiful healthy cheap food ❤ and I want everyone to love it
I've never seen this done in a cooking channel before. So fun to watch.
I’m so glad you enjoyed watching the video, Jenny!
Thank you Nisha for this incredible experience :) everyone at the Arizpe sanctuary had so much fun making the video and tasting your recipe. So happy our rescues got their 15 seconds of fame 💚 Keep up with your amazing videos!
Hey Alex! Thank you so much for being a part of this video. And it was so sweet to see the animals at the sanctuary 🥰
Where is the sanctuary?

I hope this becomes a regular series! It would be super helpful to tackle 'intimidating' foods from multiple different angles. :)
Yes! So agree!!
I was one of the taste testers for the kecap I’ve already made it again- it’s a go to in our house!! Cant wait to try the tacos next!!
That’s so cool, Joanna! Thanks for being a part of our video and I’m thrilled you love the tempeh kecap!
That dish was the one that converted me when I tried and cooked it in Bali. It’s all in the crispness. Looking forward to trying all of these.
I must be the odd one out because I LOVE the flavor of tempeh on its own. I just fry it up and eat it plain lol. BUT THESE RECIPES LOOK AMAZING. I'm going to try every single one. I'm pretty sure you're like, the best vegan cook on youtube honestly.
Yes! Me too. I was looking for this comment. 😂
What’s this bitterness everyone is talking about?
@@Charlotte-ti2yk Right! I've never thought it tasted bitter either 😅😅
Yes, I just love Tempeh and never thought of it as bitter either! But these recipes are gorgeous and I’ll be trying them soon.
I once made my own Tempeh with chickpeas instead of soya beans (I ordered the starter culture online) and it was so damn delicious that I’ve tried several ways of sourcing a store made chickpea Tempeh, because it was a bit time consuming when you live alone. Even phoned some suppliers 😂
Not available in my country, but hoping it will be soon!
Thanks for a wonderful, fun and exciting video - always look forward to them, except I’d like them to be slightly slowed down a bit! ❤
Don’t forget about the OG Isa Chandra Moskowitz
I really like it too. But I certainly woukd eat this too.
I hate watching myself on camera, but it was cool to be in this video!
Thanks so much for joining our video, Cameron!
I just found this video. I can’t stand tempeh. Thanks for participating because I’m loving these recipes.
My mom has indonesian roots so I grew up eating tempeh dishes and I've always loved it! I always took it so personally when my Dutch classmates told me how disgusting (and smelly?) they found tempeh :')
My favourite "traditional" tempeh dish is tempeh ketjap - super easy and delicious!
I ate tempeh for the first time last year and I'm 47. It's not at all smelly. It has a pleasant texture too. The taste is specifically tempeh. It's a new flavour if you didn't eat it before, but it's fairly mild. It's a lot worse the first time you're served sauerkraut.
Well I expect the dutch who had intermingled with us since almost forever should have a pallet strong enough by now to breez through our unique and strong flavor preferences.
But maybe, just maybe, they are europeans being europeans
I was personally affronted that people who hate tempeh exist
I made a bomb tempeh wrap today by slicing the tempeh into thin strips and sauteeing them in oil with some sliced mushrooms. Then after they were all golden brown on both sides, I poured in a sauce I made from a tablespoon of ssamjang, soy sauce, and a splash of rice vinegar and sesame oil. When they were nicely coated with the sauce, I loaded up a tortilla with the tempeh and mushrooms, along with some crispy lettuce and ranch dressing (trust me, it goes really well together.) Try it, you will love it! Zero bitterness detected.
Hi Amy how are you doing ?
Thanks for inviting me to this cooking challenge. It was fun to make and came out so tasty. You encouraged me to use tempeh more often. And definitely made a believer out of me!😆☺️💗
Hahaha I’m honored I could make you a believer, Rosa! Apologies for my terrible singing 😂 Thank you for being a part of our video!
LOL we eat mashed potatoes pretty frequently in my house. No kids. Just love em 😂
Soooo excited to try these!! I've had a hard time with tempeh but I know it's great for protein. Looking forward to trying it next grocery trip!
Same here. I have a child, but I eat mashed potatoes (and love quality [kid] animated movies) before child was here.
@@d.rabbitwhite Me too! Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is my favorite movie! How to Train Yoir Dragon is great too.
yall great ;;
Compliments to the editor! This was ensembled in a very entertaining way. Also I love to see and hear so many fans of the channel from all over the world!
The BBQ tempeh is SOO GOOD! I have made it multiple times. Honestly the best BBQ sauce i have every made. Perfectly balanced and super easy. Highly recommend.
Yay 🥳 thank you Holly! I’m honored to hear it!
I’m not vegan, but love trying new things and finding meat alternatives to incorporate into our normal diet. Also never had tempeh before. I made the tacos and, honest opinion, really really good! The tempeh has a mild nutty flavor and the other toppings are so flavorful. Will be making this again ❤
Good for you for trying and eating more plant based foods!
A good tip I learned with tempeh is to steam it for 15 min before cooking it. Helps a lot with the bitterness. Now it’s time to try these recipes 😋
Hope you’ll love them! I find you don’t need to steam the tempeh with these recipes 😉
@@RainbowPlantLife I heard you say that! I’ll definitely skip it for these recipes to save some time 👏 thank you so much for all these delicious, cruelty free recipes.
@@keeganitreal Indonesian here. Fresh and good tempeh shouldn't taste bitter. It just have nutty flavor.
Bitter tempeh means it is old or over fermented. Even most indonesian don't like to eat that.
Here in indonesia, we only sell fresh tempeh just for one day. The seller won't sell them again in the next day, so everyday is always new batch of freshly made tempeh.
I'm sad that store bought tempeh which taste terrible in western countries makes people hates tempeh. ☹️
Sorry for my english
@@sekar9901 Your English is very good, with only a couple of minor errors.
Your "good luck" with the avocado advice made me laugh. It is so true! Can't wait for your cookbook to come out!
I made the tacos on Monday and the BBQ sandwich today - as a tempeh-hater, I really liked both!!! Thank you for these recipes!! :D
Woohoo! Mission accomplished. I’m so happy to hear that!
I absolutely love this format it's pretty creative, not to mention looking at the reaction of the taste testers made it even more entertaining. Hope to see more videos like this in a future
This was so fun and delicious! Thank you for including me/all of us❤
Hi Lina! Thank you for being part of our video ☺️ 🤗
I had a cold this weekend and binge watched most of your videos, they are amazing! I am not vegan (yet) but I was diagnosed with alpha gal, a tick related illness that creates an allergy to mammal products, so I am learning about vegan cooking to round out my nutrition. After watching your videos, I am seriously considering going mostly vegan (I raise chickens and feel good eating their eggs). Thanks for the inspiration!!
I made the tempeh kecap and was so impressed! Best tempeh I've ever cooked, for sure!
Hi Samantha how are you doing?
SUCH a fun concept! I just love the idea, the recipes and the people who got to be a part of this video!
Lots of love fr all of you guys!
I wasn't able to submit on time because of a family issue, but I did make those bbq sandwiches and they were sooooo yum. That bbq sauce is a winner
Nishaaaa! Thank you for cooking tempeh! I’m Indonesian and I never understand why non-Indonesians never liked tempeh coz it’s like a staple here I eat it every week. There is sooooo much more traditional tempeh recipes, and I hope you can try them! We have garlic, brined then fried tempeh (idk what these are called but they’re so good), tempe bacem, tempe mendoan, and what you have cooked, we called it tempe orek. Personally, I add tamarind and shaved brown sugar, and only add fried peanuts (and fried little anchovies for non vegans). They last a looong time in a jar in the tropics so they’re perfect for a quick breakfast or as a side. Love you videos!
Yessh indonesian 🇮🇩
I’ve never tried tempeh before but your recipes NEVER disappoint so I can’t wait to try these out! 🙌🏾
this came in handy because i have two packs of tempeh in my fridge!! now I know what to do with them!! You should keep this as a series! it was so much fun to watch!
Thank you so very much for conveniently link your recipes for easy access!!! So thoughtful of you!
I've been looking for a new meal to add to my weeknights and those tacos look amazing! Also you're absolutely hilarious!
Haha thank you! I hope you’ll love the tacos as much as we do.
I loved the taste testers! This was great
Thank you for sharing all your recipes!!! ❤
This is by far my favorite episode you've ever done! The recipes are quick, simple and delicious. Your commentary on the taste tester videos is so hilarious - I would watch a video of you just doing that!
I love this concept! And you've given me more tempeh recipes to try, especially with all the taste tester approvals! Awesome! Great Job!
this video was super cool and unique! loved the collab with viewers and getting their live reactions. whoever did your video editing also did an excellent job!
Thank you so much for those magnificent recipes.
This is sooo cool! Wow! I loved this format, want to be a recipe taster next! I cook a lot of your recipes and I love your energy 😊
This is one of my most favorite videos you've made -- the tester reactions were the BEST!!!!! BTW: I do mine in the air fryer and loved hearing from a tester for the BBQ that they did it in the air fryer. It's a game changer!!
I love the viewers/taste testers feedback. This is a great format to incorporate into your videos. Loved it. I too don’t care for tempeh, but I will definitely try one or two of the recipes and see if I too can be converted. Thanks for putting this one together.
This was so great! Loved this video. Thank you!! 💕🤗
This is a great idea! I have issues with texture so I'm not sure that I would try any of these recipes, but I'm very encouraged by the enthusiastic responses from the testers. 😊👍🏾
I really enjoyed watching this, Loved this video and all your great commentary! What a great way to include your followers!
This was a very fun video to watch! And I definitely will be trying these recipes. Tempeh for me was definitely an acquired taste but after 27 years I am definitely a fan. In fact, I just found some unexpired tempeh in that back of my fridge and got excited!
This might be the most fun video you have posted yet! And I am super impressed with how much of an international hit you are, girrrl!!!
This is a great video. Love the recipes, and the overall idea. So excited to try tempe myself!!
Ok I’m seriously in love with this video ! I actually genuinely enjoy tempeh but I am always looking for new ways to use it thank you!!
Pretty soon you will be over a million subscribers! A testament to the high quality of your videos, and the value that you are sharing with others! I am so happy for you!
I’m so excited to try these recipes because I literally just had a tempeh fail. 😂 Thank you, love. What a clever idea to show people taste testing!
I might make the tacos form my family. I’ve been wanting to try tempeh as I struggle with eating enough protein so this video was perfect. Thank you so much, I absolutely love your energy.
Nisha, this format is brilliant, I've never seen a cooking video with real reactions like this, you must do more of these! I've never eaten tempeh but now I want to make all 3 recipes, thank you
I will definitely try making your tempeh kicap with lesser sugar & add some lemon juice in it. I would also finely chop & stir in some baby spinach, arugula, green onions, cilantro or parsley before serving it. Trust me - this is one dish that blesses you with a huge myriad of flavours & it can never be wrong!
You and your recipes are amazing!!!
I love the subscriber submissions! Great concept and a really great video. Your recipes are the foundation of our weekly rotation. I'm going to try the tacos and probably add those too
I absolutely LOVE tempeh and these recipes look over the top amazing. Awesome video!
I loved this video format. It was so fun to watch. Okay, I’m convinced to try tempeh again.
Great idea and well executed! You made it look effortless even though I’m sure a mountain or work went into this video! Loved seeing all the reactions and I’m convinced enough to give tempeh another try 😊
I love the idea behind this video! I never used to enjoy tempeh but have slowly begun to love it. I'm not vegan but lacto veg and your recipes have really made me excited to try new things for lunch (and for my kids). I do boil or steam the tempeh once before cooking it, because I don't always use bold flavours with it - sometimes we just leave it for salads or to snack on!
the tester idea is so good! seeing other people make your recipe gives me more confidence in myself lol
I can tell this video took A LOT of work, research, and recipe testing. Thank you for making top notch content, Nisha!
I went out yesterday and bought the ingredients for the tacos. I just got finished eating three lol absolutely delicious like eating in a upscale Vegan Restaurant except in my dining room. I’m really blown away with how good these are, thank you so much for sharing I cannot wait to try these on family and friends 😊
I can't believe I missed this when you posted it! I love tempeh but I've only ever ordered it as take-out and have never tried to prepare it myself and have been wanting to give it a go so this is perfect! I'm so excited to try these :D
Stumbled on this video looking for ways to prepare tempeh. Just made these tacos, they are phenomenal! The flavors are so well balanced and the texture of the crema with the crunch of the tempeh and pickles is perfect.
I absolutely love these recipes!!! I can't wait to try, looks soooo yummy!!!! Thanks
Thank you, thank you, thank you Nisha! I've been experimenting with tempeh and now I have a few more tasty options. I can't wait to try them!
Wow these recipes look great!! I love tempeh but I'm always looking for new ways to incorporate it, can't wait to try these out!!
You are absolutely adorable - love this video, such a great idea!
I loved this, it was fun seeing responses!
These look amazing and I hope you make this a series of fans making your dishes. So cool. Also, never stop giggle at ketchup farts because then, we will all have to admit we are growing up and that not needed. LOL.
Those tacos were the best homemade thing I'd made in a long time. Thanks so much Nisha!!
Begone the days of boiling/steaming slices of tempeh before vaguely crisping it up in a pan and slathering it in BBQ sauce! Dunno why I was always scared to skip the boiling/steaming, but the slices look so much more crispy and nice with your method. Can't wait to try these out, so happy to see new recipes using ingredients that deserve more love.
ohhhhh loved this new format with the taste testers!!! I am definitely going to try these tempeh recipes 🙂 ... thank your for these recipes!!!!
Girrrrrrl , you have taken your channel up to a WHOLE "Nuther" Level ! Wow , so fun to watch . Also, by showing other ppl make your recipes and comment on how good they are encourages others, like myself, to want to try them . Yay ! So Happy for You !
💕👍👍👍👍👍👍💕
Love this format! I have used lime leaves and lemongrass in recipes, but never eaten them…they usually just perfume the dish but are removed (or pushed aside). I’ve never made anything with tempeh but you’ve persuaded me to try.
I made the tempeh tacos and I was pleasantly surprised! I want to make these for my vegan friends who are actually the ones that made me see the light… and I have been vegan for 3-1/2 years now!! ❤
I absolutely LOVED this format and the recipes I've tried so far were simple and DELICIOUS. I've made the tempeh taco's twice now and they're a huge hit with my non-vegan dad as well- I think he might even like them more than me! I had some leftover canned corn the first time I made them, so I charred it a bit in a frying pan and added that to the tacos as well- what a match made in heaven! The avocado crema also makes an incredible base for avocado toast or sandwiches. I've used the method for cutting tempeh in the kecap for other stir fries as well. I can't wait to try the bbq sandwhich!
I saw this video this morning. My mouth watered when I saw the tempeh tacos, so I made them for dinner. They are delicious! Thank you for this great video. ❤
We are making the Kecap for the 2nd time this week! Glad to find a recipe to use this healthy ingredient!
This is great content! I love your vids, but this is a really great idea that I have not seen from other YT vegan chiefs. Well done!
I’m so glad you loved this video :) thank you ☺️
Fabulous video!! I love you and your cooking so much!
Can’t wait to try these. I think I’ll start with the tacos! I absolutely love your chickpea taco recipe, so I’m sure this one will be just as good!
What a fun idea for a video!! I'm definitely going to try these recipes. I have been unsure of what to do with tempeh so this is a perfect video for me!
Loved this video! so nice to see all of your viewers from around the world :)
This video idea is so great! Would love to see a series with other ingredients :)
This was such a fun video ! I am not a huge fan of temphe either and have been wanting to give it another try and this definitely inspired me! What a fun idea to have taste testers! I thought it was really fun to see home ooks make you recipes and testing for themselves to have their reaction in the video ! Can't wait to see more videos like these ! ♥️
Thank you Amanda! It was so fun for me to see home cooks make these recipes as well, so I’m thrilled it was the same for you!
Let me just say that it’s very, very relaxing to watch your videos. Well done. I love to try new recipes and your channel is awesome in providing that + a comfort feeling. Similar to when you spend years without going to your hometown and then you go visit it* and everything hits you with nostalgia.
That’s such a sweet thing to hear! Thanks for your thoughtful comment and I’m so happy you find my videos relaxing and comforting to watch ☺️
Never had tempeh since going vegan, but I'm definitely giving it a shot with some of these recipes. The kecap recipe in particular looks great for meal prep. Thank you for putting this all together!
I tried the BBQ tempeh last night, and it is absolutely going in my regular rotation. I made some vinegar based slaw, and it made amazing BBQ sandwiches. I can't wait to try the tacos now!
Those tacos are on this week's list!! I can't wait to get my hands on your new cookbook!
Well these recipes look divine! I love tempeh. I make a wonderful bacon crumbled tempeh that I love and put on everything! ☺️🙏♥️ Thank you. I can't wait to try these recipes!
I like Tempeh.. I recently found black Bean Tempeh here in Austria, and it is my new favorite!
Nisha, these tempeh recipes are life savers! You look gorgeous in that black top as well!
making the Kecap recipe immediately!!! loved this video!
Love this!! Tempeh can be SO good when done right!
Oh Nisha these all look and sound awesome. I'm going to try and make them all. Thank you. 😊
Hi Susan how are you doing?
All these people are so wholesome
Wonderful format!! Do this again 😊 Nisha… you’re wonderful 🌸🧡✨
You make me laugh and hungry at the same time! Love the editing and music selection!
This is such a cool and different video and was so fun to watch! Definitely gonna try those recipes they look AMAZING!!
I’m so thrilled to hear that, Olivia 🥳 I hope you will love the recipes!
Cannot wait to try theses recipes as I never know what to do with tempeh and never really enjoy it. Thanks for the tips. Learnt so much already
Love these!!! I marinate mine a lot as well for a day and it soaks the flavors up really well!
love this new video concept Nisha! and its so amazing that you're featuring a traditional Indonesian tempeh dish
I actually LOVE tempeh, so thanks for the recipes ❤
