I used to not like tempeh at all, but I learned a trick from RainbowPlantLife and decided to give it one more try. The trick is to pop them in the instant pot on the steam setting for 10 mins before using in the recipe. It removes the bitterness and I learned that I actually like tempeh! I will definitely try these, they look amazing!!
hello, i am not vegan. But i love tempe so much because its really cheap in my country, Indonesia. It cost less than a dollar to get 500 grams of Tempeh. It's really good protein source. i did some search on google, if you want to comolete the amino acid of tempeh, best ti eat it with rice.
Cool tutorial on tempeh! I’m a boil-it-first kind of girl, and I find one of the major benefits of doing so is it allows the tempeh to soak in the veggie broth that’s it’s boiled in, which adds more depth to the tempeh.
Yeah, it's basically flavor sponge, i usually marinated it with at least condensed broth, some salt, or if you wanted it bare minimum some warm water+salt+crushed garlic for marination. In my place we had marination spice powder already in a pack, but i usually do it with garlic. And just fried it, not too dry and not too wet. Me & my fam usually eat it with sambal (any kind fresh one), bean sprouts, javanese basil.
I thought the facts about the mycelium were so cool and actually makes me want to eat tempeh more. I just think it's really cool how plants and fungi come together to make a super nutritious food for us herbivores. 🌱🍄🌱
Thank you! I am trying extra hard lately. It takes constant pressure to keep the views up on youtube, but I'm trying. Thanks for recognizing the grind.
Growing up in Asia, I’ve only ever had tempeh Asian-style... so this SMOKED BACON TEMPEH looks and sounds amazing!! Gonna definitely check this one out!! 🙌
Me too,I live in where Tempeh was originated. We usually just fry it. Or make it into chips. Or there is some traditional ways to cook it. Like make it into tempe bacem or rendang tempe and so on.
Of course I can find easily tempeh here in Indonesia. Generally it is thicker, wrapped with banana leaf then a plastic. I usually only make a braised spiced tempeh (tempe bacem) for lunch or dinner as protein source, it’s super yummy also. After watching your video, now I can cook my tempeh with more recipes from you. Thanks yo!!
I like the Trader Joe's tempeh a lot. I just cut into slices, marinate it in maple syrup and soy sauce with some garlic, then cook in a skillet. SO GOOD!!
I buy all our food at Trader Joe's. Tried tempeh a couple months ago, just heated it up in a skillet, and didn't love it. So I stuck with tofu, until a few days ago when I saw a video by Dr Greger about spermidine and its anti-aging effects. Tempeh is one of the highest food sources, so I'm trying it again. I just bought 3 bricks based on seeing this video. Thanks for the preparation ideas! Soy sauce, maple syrup, and liquid smoke is bound to make it better!
I made the sausage crumble. I did boil Tempe prior to seasoning and let it marinate overnight. Then stir fried with red and green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, diced steamed red potatoes and spinach. It was amazing. Thanks for the recipe ❤️
Thanks for the recipes, look forward to trying tempeh bacon as I need to break up the kidney bean meals. Made nice fried rice with nutritional yeast yesterday.
Great video! These were unique and different ways to prepare tempeh. Very neat. I heard a good way to remove the bitterness is to steam the tempeh block on high pressure for 5 minutes in the instant pot, or on the stove for the same amount of time. I wanted to share this for anyone who needs it!
I just tried this bacon in amatriciana rigatoni. It rocks! I used x3 times the amount of marinade for 250g of tempeh and let it marinade for 3h. I fried the bacon instead of the oven, using peanut oil, which oil I then used as a base for the amatriciana sauce (garlic and canned tomatoes). Thank you!
I'm one of those people who struggles to enjoy tempeh. Thanks for sharing these ideas! I'm going to try the sausage recipe to use in breakfast burritos instead of frozen vegan sausage patties. Fingers crossed everyone likes it 🤞
