    Just did a white build with this board, and it so far, I am loving it. I wanted to balance between a system that would power a 49" Odyssey G9 OLED and not completely break the bank. Ryzen 7800X3D, 32GB DDR5, Taichi White 7900 XTX, and honestly I couldn't be happier.

    Like the all white but hate how they went from 8 Layer PCB to 6, 14 to 12 phases and 70 amp to 60 amp Power stages. On top of them making the board Cheaper, they make it white and Charge More for them and they can't even give you modern Audio as they use 15 year old ALC897 audio. GIGABYTE B650 AORUS ELITE AX is $200.00 8 layer and 70amp power stages vs. GIGABYTE B650 AORUS ELITE AX ICE is $220.00 6 layer and 60 amp power stages. Even Gigabyte states that 8 layer PCB give you less signal loss and better thermals.

    Important FYI: I'm just building with this MOBO, and found this Note in the manual. "The PCIEX16 slot can only support a graphics card or an NVMe SSD. If only one graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot" Meaning, your GPU shares the PCIex port with the second NVMe SSD (M.2B). In my case, I wanted two M.2 SSD cards, So I used M.2A and M.2C

    I just bought this board recently. Is the primary m.2 slot the same pcie lane as the additional m.2 slots? Im trying to figure out if i should run multiple m.2s or just the primary slot so as not to hinder gaming performance. Thanks in advance!

    • @FPP_Tech
      @FPP_Tech  Месяц назад +1

      m.2 a&b Run through the CPU and m.2 c runs through the chipset. The main slot runs at pcie 5x4, slot b is pcie 4x4. Running fully populated shouldn't affect the main expansion slot, it will still be x16. This is all per gigabyte. Unfortunately, We didn't populate all 3 and test it. FWIW, even on boards that drop down to x8 on the GPU slot, the performance hit is minimal (about 1% on a 4090).

  • @beardedgaming3741
    @beardedgaming3741 6 месяцев назад +2

    with teh VRM i think this is perfect for the X3D chips as your not OCing them anyway. the limited ram compatibility is a frustration. with 7600mt kits being so cheap now... i argue the gen 4 slot is a large mistake on their part. just because someone is not looking for top end overclocking and i/o - does not mean they want to loose bandwith on a pcie slot. who knows whats around in 6/8 years time. currently i get that gen4 isnt saturated but that time will come. and with 8/12+ core cpu's... id expect these systems to be viable far further into the future than a core2 was

    • @haim4
      @haim4 5 месяцев назад

      4090 with gen 3 PCIE loses about 3-4 % of performance, and this PCIE generation was introduced 14 years ago.. so if to judge by that, gen 4 has about-5-7 years before starting to bottleneck, and by that time you will be bottlenecked by other components and not PCIE bandwidth.

    Just got this board delivered but I'll have to wait on the CPU. Cant decide between a 7800x3d or a 9000 Series that are rumored for late July. It's getting 32GB of white Crucial DDR5 6000, and a Sapphire Pure RX 7900 GRE -- all inside a white NZXT H6 Flow. What I didn't notice about this board until i unboxed and looked it over was the Front HDMI header near the ATX 24 plug. Might trick it out with a small internal display later ... 😁

      That's going to look awesome. We just did a build in the white H6 Flow as well. Great case to build in.
      If you're leaning more gaming, I'd just go with the 7800X3D. AMD already said the non-X3d skus for 9000 series probably won't beat the 7800X3D in gaming (they crush it in productivity, though). You'd have to wait until September, or later for a 9800x3d. Plus, the 7800X3D is only $340 right now. (amzn.to/4cDlpaY) and might even get cheaper for prime day.

My cooler will end up dictating my choices - as good as the Peerless Assassin is, I don't feel comfortable using it on anything higher than a 12 core. This is both a gaming and production rig - I need to get good AV1 encoding because AMD's H264 encoder produces more artifacts than I ever got from Nvidia but I'm done paying the "premium" for Nvidia ... 😝 I popped the GRE in my 5600 rig and running FireStrike made my 360 watt UPS cry fowl ... 🤣

    I was thinking of buying this board but Gigabyte already announced the B650e (e for exteme) version of this board in January. Main part is probably the improved PCI-e 5 capabilities. It also has a 40 Gbps USB-C port which supports DP 1.4 and can run as a USB4 port when paired with a Ryzen 8000 processor. The VRM is also slightly better and looks fancier. It will probably also be more expensive probably. Not sure when it will be available to purchase though, but I have to wait on some other components still anyway.

      Thanks for watching! Tough question stock and pricing vary so much region to region. 1st, I'd say if stock in your region allows, I'd look at the 4070 Super over the 4070ti. Also, if 16GB is a must and budget allows the 4070ti Super.
      To answer your question as written I'd say regardless of what you hear, 12GB vRam is more than enough for most AAA games at 1080p & 1440p. If you've always wanted to go with nvidia, the 4070 ti will give phenomenal performance. The 7800xt is also an excellent choice. Where I am, the 7800xt is $100USD cheaper than the 4070 super & $200 less than a 4070ti. At that big of a discount, the 7800xt is a clear winner, but if pricing in your region is closer, I'd go with the Nvidia card.

      Yes, PCIE lane sharing is definitely a thing & is something to pay attention to on most MoBo's. Gigabyte makes it tougher by not spelling it out (at least to my knowledge) & making you dig through the block diagram.
      I'm going off of memory, since we typically don't keep stuff after testing, but I believe you can populate all 3 m.2 slots without affecting the main pcie5x16 slot. 7000 series chips have 24 pcie lanes, so, 16, 4, & 4 for pcie1, m.2a & m.2b. M2c runs through the chipset.
      Again, I'm pulling this all from me memory. I would email gigabyte directly b4 taking this as absolute fact.

      If you're using DisplayPort, make sure your display is turned on but in sleep mode. If your display is off or too busy auto sourcing when your power on your computer, it can't be detected, and that will trigger the VGA LED. If you also have a buzzer hooked to the motherboard's SPKR header, you'll hear 1 long and 2 beeps to warn you of the video/display issue. This can be disabled entirely if your "Halt On" option in the BIOS is set to "Ignore VGA" - the motherboard will assume you're running a headless server and boot your OS without looking for a display.

    As for Type-C, nobody is building a PC to run an external GPU, which is garbage anyways, so a hub that can push 20Gb/s is 1000x more than what anyone would need it for.
    Nobody would pair a 4090 with this?! 😂😂😂 why not?! If it is powerful enough to run any AMD chip, why would you entice people to spend unnecessary money when this is more than enough?!?!

      I appreciate your feedback & a lot of the points are fair. Keep in mind use cases outside of gaming, as we gets lots of questions from different users. Usb C isn't just for good for external GPU's. High speed ingest for content creators, and modeling, live streaming cameras & audio equip, plus the explosion of peripherals switching to usb c. We're reaching a point where 2-3 ports is a minimum need for a lot of users.
      As for power, the 5950x pulled 142w while the 7950x pulls 230w at max load (though, it can be dialed way back & still get 98% ish performance, but that's a different topic for a different vid). That's a 65% increase generationally. I highly doubt we see that kind of jump in the next 2 gens, but to say it's out of the question is a bit aggressive.
      As I said, I appreciate all your points, just keep in mind there are users with all different use cases consuming this content.
