    This is a decent motherboard and lives up to the price tag, but there are some odd decisions here and there that i just can't really explain. Also it has some excellent design choices. Maybe this is the AM5 board for you? Our Son chose it for his new build, so lets hope it serves its purpose well.

    I have this mobo and its very solid, zero issues. My advice is don't buy 4 sticks of ram for any AM5, only buy two. I decided to go 64GB (2x32) for futureproofing so I would never have to deal with potential future ram upgrade issues. Grab DDR5-6000 AMD CL30 EXPO for near guaranteed zero issues.

      seems to the same thing with all motherboards on AM5 4 sticks is basically impossible to get working at anything close to XMP speeds

      Yeh mine is great and it is running a very busy flight simulator set up with both PCIe slots working fine (sound card, 10gbps ethernet adaptor). I’ve got two x 10 port powered usb hubs with all my peripherals and everything runs super smooth. The only thing I’ve had a problem with just recently is some fans struggling to hold their level of rpm sometimes. I may just have reached the limit of what it can do. Mind you, each header is 2A and has 3x .55A fans plugged in. That has got me thinking that maybe I need a higher end mobo. I don’t really know anything about it though.
      Also - mine is comfortably supporting 2x32 GB 6400mhz without any issues.

    Hey, there is a V2 version of this motherboard, specifically named:
    Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX V2 Wi-Fi
    Is it any different to this one except for higher RAM speeds and a slight design change?
    Also, is the sound out of the rear port that bad? If I plug in a set of stereo 160-dollar Edifier speakers, will I notice a difference in sound quality or clarity compared to a better Asus Motherboard?

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  2 месяца назад

      This is a hard one to call the version 2 doesn't seem to add very much value that I can see in terms of sound I would say it is acceptable and unless you are a audio file there's a very good chance you will be very happy with the same quality and volume

    Nice motherboard. I like that it has 3 full PCI-e slots. Not all cards need 16x lanes, but some do need the physical size to fit. It would be my 2nd choice after a MSI carbon wifi b650

    Strange mix of good points & some odd ones. Love the idea of 3x M.2s, the front connector such a boon imo, beefy heat sinks both vrms & M.2s👍Yet odd choice of pcie lanes when like you said a x4 lane be so much beneficial. Plus low end sound on this model. Is defn of Elite now "basic" rather than top end? Thanks for reviewing Mike and Kath 🐈👍

It came with Asus WiFi antennas and non factory cpu cooler brackets which I don’t use. Was able to 20% off for this so only spent $80 plus tax.

      I think the stigma with HDD is that there is a latency when they spin up and seeking and transferring data is somewhat slower. For gamers the latency loading a texture or map can be annoying and in some cases lead to losing the game.
      For data storage and backups a HDD still is a perfect choice for its larger £ per TB and longevity

    Reviewers always warn us about the cooler being able to clear the RAM, but I had to return the Noctua D15 because the motherboard shroud got in the way! The fact that it made the RAM slots a pain to access is a minor issue. 🙂 Because of this, my build, which has been gestating for months, is still not in production. Although I did manage to install Windows on it. When I returned the D15, I got a U12S, but it was obviously a used unit. There were slightly bent fins and when I flipped the fan the right way round it was covered in what looked like thermal paste. No wonder it was on the wrong way. As if that would catch anyone off guard. The rubber iso pads were also quite dirty. Most frustrating build ever. I'm starting to get a bad feeling about all of this. 👿

    what about coil whine? i saw many reports on this specific board

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  2 месяца назад +1

      not noticed any so far, this might be because we use a high quailty power supply, coil whine is notably more common with cheaper low end power supplies

      @@mikesunboxing as i was around on forums, and some youtube, a lot people be complaining about coil whine noise from this motherboard for some of them its being caused by memory settings, and for some other by different bios settings. Some of them say it only appears in demanding games.
      Meanwhile im upgrading my rig for full 4k experience.
      I just returned b650e-e strix as the software is meh, and didn't like the board
      Trying to find nice looking board with cool features and elite ax is one of them, but im too concerned about all that coil whine issue.
      I would love to know if its still a thing in 2024 :/
      I really like this board, would fit my build perfectly, except that, the other option is b650 tomahawk, but looks kinda bald compared to elite ax.
      Im kinda lost in board game right now, been looking for a board for 2 weeks, but theres always something...

    Orico has a usb card that has 7 ports on the card! Which you can slot into one of those black slots 🎰 and the other to hold a ballsy sound card from creative labs 🥼 like the sounblaster z. So Mike never underestimate those useful black slots 🎰 on a motherboard!

    I think it's not exactly accurate to describe the B650 boards as mid range. They are mid range in price only. For a gamer, they are top-of-the-line. The X670 boards are directed at an entirely different user OR at a gamer who does not understand that the X670 has nothing to make for a better gaming experience.

    I wouldn't use Gigabyte or MSI, I only use Asus as I have never had any problems.. Asus have been doing the connector for front panel for years..
    Whereas, Gigabyte and MSI have always been bad, for me..

      i have had a few bad boards from all the brands so i don't really find any of them better or worse on that side of things, but i do like the MSI center and the MSI bios for making tweaks to the system, and armoury crate is improving but still not as good or lightweight as MSI center
