Today we are updating the BIOS on the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Eilte AX V2 rev 1.1
Pretty easy and straight forward, make sure you use a 32GB or less USB drive, like the one we use
Also it is important to get the correct BIOS file, there are multiple revisions of these boards. Check in the bottom corner near the audio chipset to see what version of the board you have. Links to BIOS file here

Thanks, this is the ONLY information online that enabled me to update my gigabyte mobo. Nothing else worked. This info isn't even on the gigabyte website, let alone reddit, the paper user manual, anywhere I looked. For anyone wondering, this works fine with all the components already plugged into the motherboard (at least it did for me).

first time builder here with a quick question.. does the flash drive size really matter? I have a 128gb and I'm thinking of doing Q Flash first and then install Win 11. Will it work fine or do I need a 16/32 gb instead?

Mike, your recommendation to qflash the bios without attaching all of the peripherals is spot-on. For the last 2 years, my Gigabyte Aorus X570 Ultra has been plagued by random boot failures. This problem continued despite keeping up with the latest bios put out by Gigabyte. The PC would eventually post after restarting her 2-4 times. This past weekend, however, my pc refused to boot up despite repeated attempts to restart her so I decided to qflash the bios with an older bios version thinking the most recent bios was causing the problem. The qflash failed so after reading some literature which stated that Gigabyte had recently changed their bios to prevent installing older bios for security reasons, I attempted to qflash the bios using the latest file. The qflash failed and I could not get the PC to post. The only thing that would run when I powered her up was the case fans. I was fed up and decided to scrap the board and spent the next hour looking for another suitable replacement online and then I found your video (again!) and decided to follow your suggestion of qflashing the MB without the peripherals being attached and this time the qflash worked. The MB now posts every single time the PC is powered up. Thanks for your informative video!

I got confused for an instant.. I saw a b660 box for a b500 motherboard.. but then, I noticed the socket.. Flashing a bios like that should have been possible way sooner.. But better late than never they say!

Just watched this and am going to go down to the main PC and see if I can breath some life into it! Unfortunately it did not work for me, correct bios file and did everything that you mentioned apart from removing the CPU, but it seems to flash and will not boot the system. Shame as it is a newish CPU, newish RAM, on board graphics as I have not put the brand new card in yet. The whole lot is going in the bin!.

Are the fans and lights supposed to turn on during the Qflash process? Mine did and I'm not sure if I should turn the PC off now.
depends on the setup if the PSU turns on, anything connected to it will also turn on
Your diction could use some improvement. I could barely understand you at some points. You need to slow down a bit and enunciate. Doing so will help you to not slur your words as much. I'm just trying to be helpful. You have knowledge that I need badly right now and it's really frustrating trying to understand you. There many places I had to re watch several times. I even had to slow down the play speed to 75%. That said I want to thank you for this video. It saved me a second return to Amazon.

For a moment! I thought my PC is doomed as it turned on on its own and the flashing led is stuck on a normal speed. It took quite longer for me, around 10 minutes before it fully booted up and successfully updated the BIOS. Thanks man! Lifesaver.

hello Mike, i have a B550 Aorus Elite V2, and mine is revision 1.0. On Gigabyte support bios download, theres versions since 1.0 to 1.5. I should download only the 1.0 or go straight to the latest revision?
the board revision and the bios version are to different things.
The motherboard revision never changes and it is when the manufacturer makes a change to the design of the board.
you use the newest bios version for the revision of motherboard you have.

HI great understandable tutorial . I had the beta bios FEa for ax v2 rev. 1.3 now its totally gone, not even the FE bios 18/7/2023 is there. it works fine for me an all other new or latest bios dont say anything about optimised for 5800x3d can i just stick with my bios beta as its not broken .

Q flash BIOS light in the last stage does not turn on quickly in the end. It stays on for a few seconds and then turns off

recommend is probably a strong word, if it is cheaper and you have payment protection it is an option

If the size comes over to be 16,384 instead of 32kb is this fine or is there a specific reason this happening?
sounds like it might not be fully extracted? or maybe the wrong file?

It won’t allow a corrupted card to flash as it can’t read the full file before flashing
Hey Mike, I just bought this motherboard but I think it might be dead. I bought a 5000 series CPU so I am following your guidance about flashing the new bios before installing all the components. I plug the mobo into my PSU and when I power up my PSU no lights come on at all, and the q flash process has no activity at all.
Is there a standby power light for this mobo? I plugged my old motherboard in and it has a standby power light with the same power cables so I know it’s supplying power. Any ideas?

If there is an error during flashing process, what will be its effect, will motherboard be still in working state or not?
you wiull need to reflash to complete the process
So is it better to flash the mobo with the most recent beta update or should I go with the latest non-beta version for stability/less bugs?
only use beta if there is no other option or it adds something that you need, like CPU support

What would be the most likely problem if the PC is not shutting down/restarting after the Bios qflash is over? I have to manually shut it down and get no image on boot up.
sounds like the flashing process has failed at some point, or didn't begin at all
once it's done do you just remove the usb and turn of the power supply before installing everything?

I have a new B550M Aorus Elite AXSeries 1.3, and the Bios file I downloaded only has 1 file in it. B550AMORUSELITEAX13.F4, The file you opened had several files in it. Out of curiosity, I downloaded an earlier Bios file and the contents looked similar to yours. Why the difference? Thanks

I can’t find my comment from earlier so I’ll just make another, FIXED IT! Well I did nothing, I tried flashing some other options as well as different names but turns out nothing changed or was different. I went ahead and just tried to start up my 5900x again and it worked! I guess for the r 1.5 the downloads are smaller and faster, DIDNT require PSU fan to turn on (maybe because I was using a 1300 P+?) so I guess I did it, all it took was 30 seconds so I got worried it didn’t work

Hey Mike, I have the B550 aorus elite v2 and it works great however, the built in mobo led lights only flicker on when I flip the switch, and shut off immediately afterwards.
All of my other light headers etc work...any possible fixes fir this that I'm overlooking?
short circuit somewhere? are you flashing the bios on a test bench or in a fully built system? was the system working before? is it a new processor?
@@mikesunboxing I did a bench test when I first got the mobo, and they never turned on. I just removed everything to do another bench test, and no change. Everything works just not those specific LEDs...
when downloading the bios onto hard drive, will it still work if you're doing it on a mac?
Should be fine as long as it is a fat32 usb drive
I did everything up to holding down the button but I don’t get any flashing. It has power but I don’t know what’s wrong 😢
does the button have a distinct click or notch to it? could be a bad bios button

should work out of the box i think, but i would consider updating the bios anyway for security and performance patches
I have tried everything that you've shown on how to do this. I downloaded the newest bios, renamed the file, plugged in only the 2 power connectors. Put in the USB in the same port, pressed and held the button. No lights. Only thing I got was when i turned the PSU on, the motherboard flashed. Is there anything that i may need to do to get this to work? its the exact same motherboard and its for a new build. Thank you.
try it outside of the case it might be shorting somewhere
@@mikesunboxing It is, its sitting on the box. when i had it all assembled everything kicked on. I just didnt get any video. So thats when i figured the BIOs needed updated. took everything out and placed it on the box. When i turn the PSU on. The board lights flicker on for a sec as if its trying to boot. Sucks i cant post pics. You think i may have a bad battery and i should replace it?
@@mikesunboxing Ok, i take that back.. I completely unplugged the board. let it sit for a lil bit. turned on the power, installed the memory card, it the button and it started to work. Got a steady light blinking and the USB light is going off too. So i hope its working!🤞🤞

ok im going a bit mental now, every video ive watched is different, im now to confused as to what i need to do. no other video ive watched said anything about renaming that file etc. i have a ryzen 9 5900x and gigabyte aorus x570 xtreme rev 2.0. it shows the bios is an older version and there is a more up to date one available. but im just not confident enough to download it as all the unzipping the file and renaming it etc and then saving that to usb and installing that etc. my pc is all put together and running. but would like this bios update. thanks for any advice in advance. 🙂

hey Mike, I just downloaded the BIOS update but I'm not able to update it with Qflash. I'm getting a BIOS ID Check Error. I didn't rename the file or anything. Am I missing something?
check the motherboard revision there are a few different versions on the market
I don’t know how many times I have tried this but it’s just not working. I would download the file and extract all, but the only thing that ever appeared was one FEC file that I couldn’t do anything with. Someone please help….

Looking at your video tutorial for this motherboard . I have the rev 1.2 version ive followed your video and downloaded the version fb which is suitable for the Ryzen 9 5900x but on extraction you state the bios file should be around the 32mb but on extraction mine is around 16mb . Ive used 7zip and winrar to extract and they are both giving me the same . Is this correct before i flash the bios . Many thanks

Soo when I flip the power switch there is a quick flash of light Troy ur the bored but that’s it no light or anything no matter what I do and I am scared to try and turn it off and back on because you not supposed to lose power
if the flash process hasn't started you can switch it off

i have got the X670 AORUS ELITE AX and my Bios was crashing the 3. time so far. Computer will boot into a blackscreen after, if i q flash the bios, the computer will work again until the next crash, any idea how to fix that problem?

The 3080 is placeholder until the 40 earios isnt that expansive... i never had a more unstable system, and i cant figure out why my bios keeps crashing. Its just a Freezing Screend and restart inti nothing, black screen, QFlash plus will fix the problem until the next crash. Mbe my Motherboard Bios Chip is broken?

@@mikesunboxing as I am sure you have seen from my other comments it didn’t and I have broke down all ready and said f it I am taking it to microcenter for them to build so much for me enjoying building my first pc bio flash has to be some of the stupidest shit you should be able to update after all ready building the pc from inside the actual bios not from some bs usb that tons of people have problems with

no, that is another of the key uses of a bios flash, to recover a bad flash

Yeah no I was going to blame to file but the light is not coming in at all not even once so knowing my luck probably a dead motherboard 😂

@mikesunboxing I got the B650i itx Aorus Ultra 1-12-1 VRM power bank, which gets hot to the touch. The first time I set it up on Win11, it all went according to plan. All he drivers installed and seemed to be running correctly with an AM5 7950x3d and 64gb crucial memory .. I updated to the latest BIOS F30, and now it takes 2-3 resets to get it to boot up .. I reverted back to F22b BIOS and reinstalled Win11 .. I keep having to reset to factory defaults .. The motherboard is a piece of junk for $250 .. blue screen every othe reboot, even thought it runs at 48cDeg ideling ..I lost two SSD drives, one on the back side of the board, which I don't have access to .. WiFi driver won't install, so I'm using my phone USB tethering for data downloads. It's a pain.

yes the port can be used as a normal USB type A port when it isn't flashing a bios
Have this board, getting a 5800x for it. When I tried to extract bios file for it keeps coming out 16mb. Did the FB file it says to but my question is, is that correct or am I doing something wrong?
could be that you are using a slightly different model motherboard? there are a lot of them with very similar names
