This is a very good video with everything required being covered. Well done! Info: I had a USB stick that was ok in Windows and Linux but the Qflash bios utility could not see the file on the USB stick. If that happens to you just swap it out for another USB stick, it worked for me. (The USB was correctly formatted and the file was there, weird.) subbed.
If your USB is 32GB or less then yes, but if your USB is larger than 32GB you can't format the whole USB drive to FAT32. This is because the parition size limit for the FAT32 file system is 32GB.
So im going to be doing this soon on my Gigabyte B550M DS3H and i currently am running a R5 2600 and going to be adding a R5 5600X, just wondering if there’ll be any complications once i update the BIOS afterwards? Should i just turn the pc off then replace the older cpu or not? Advice in general would be appreciated
It would depend on if your current BIOS version supports your new CPU. If you current BIOS version supports your new CPU then I would change the CPU to the new on before doing the BIOS update. This is so that you can see that the CPU is working. And in the event that there is something wrong with it you can easily go back to your old CPU without having to try to down grade your BIOS version back if required. However, if your new CPU isn't supported on your current BIOS version, but is on a new version. Then you will need to do the BIOS update with the old CPU installed, and then once the BIOS update is done you will then need to install your new CPU. As for complications the only major thing is that you check that the BIOS version you are updating to supports the CPU you are going to be using. So you want to carefully read the CPU support list to ensure that the BIOS version does support the CPU.
Thanks for the video! Easy to follow and timestamps make it easier. Gonna refer back after work when i update from version f51 to the latest. Switching from 3400g to a 5700x cpu in my wife's pc.
Bro, you need to do audiobooks or something. Awesome video, I needed to make sure I wasn't gonna screw up my mobo when I did this lol easy follow. Flashed quick and easy.
Doing exacty what you instructed, I can verify the BIOS file (F32 for me) and it says "ready to reboot", it reboots but directly to Windows, it does not flash the BIOS. Any chance you can tell me what is the issue? My Mobo is Gigabyte A620M H. Thanks in advance.
I ejected the USB after you made the comment about making sure it was in the right port - it was originally in my disk reader USB port and then I inserted it into the back of my PC. As soon as I did that my PC just broke.
long story short have a boot loop issue when trying to restart likely caused by ram speed being too fast for the mobo. I want to update my b650m auros elite ax to the newest version which supports my speeds but should I be afraid of bricking my mobo when it attempts to reboot and possibly being stuck in a loop after the bios update? also was the reboot that fast at 10:23 or is that an edit?
No the reboot isn't that fast in real time it was sped up for the video. If your having problems with your RAM I would first reset the CMOS. When CMOS is reset your motherboard should default back to using the slower but certified JEDEC speeds. Once CMOS has been reset I would then remove all power from your computer. Then press and hold the power button on the PC for 10's to drain all the power from any capacitors. I would then remove all of the RAM from the motherboard and wait a minute. After a minute I would then reinstalll a single stick of RAM in the correct slot for a single stick configuration. Then I would start the computer back up and give it a while to start as it should start redoing its memory training which could take a while. Hopefully then the computer will boot up and you will be able to get into the BIOS to check that the RAM is running at the slower more stable JEDEC speeds. The boot looping issue itself shouldn't cause the motherboard to be bricked during a BIOS update. However, there is a risk that if your RAM isn't on the motherboards certified list then it might not play nicely with a different version of the BIOS. In that case your actual motherboard should be fine but you would maybe have to change your RAM to a certified set for your motherboard.
It is possible that it might help, depends on what changes we're made to the updated BIOS. It is especially true that newer BIOS versions usually have better RAM type and speed support.
you didn t said if it s a problem if you keep the usb in pc while entering bios, like i m gonna plug the usb copy the file then i m gonna unplug the usb and when i enter bios i plug the usb??
I downloaded the update file and used a flash drive to update the bios. I have a Z690 Aorus Master motherboard and I haven't updated the bios since I installed it.
You downloaded the wrong bios file. Probably from a similar board but not the exact one. It has to match the board exactly. Some boards are made for build partners and do not have a lot of support.
possibly a stupid question. in my motherboard (b450 aorus elite v2) i need a bios version f61 for my ryzen7 5800x3d that i am gonna be installing. my question is can i flash my motherboard on a later bios version like f65 instead of the older f61 and would i run on any issues or would that be better for my system.
The important thing when figuring out what BIOS version a CPU is supported on is to look at the title of the column in the table. For example, if the column says supported since. Then that means that the CPU is supported in that version and any newer ones. However, if the column says supported up to. Then that means that the CPU is supported up to that version and no newer. From having a quick look at the CPU support list for your motherboard. The 5800x3D has been supported since BIOS version F61. So the 5800x3D should work on the latest BIOS version that is currently F66c. Going with F66c is probably highly advisable as many of the updates since F61 appear to be important security fixes.
So your instructions were great, but no matter what I do, q-flash tells me that it either can't read the file, or it's an invalid file. Do i need to unzip/unpack the contents of the downloaded bios update file or just keep it on disk as it was when I downloaded it?
@@BeauSchutz-z8i As far as I am aware you want the files to be unziped, which dragging them from within the zip file to the USB should do. If it is saying that the file is invalid it is most likely that the file you have isn't for your exact motherboard model. I would just double check that you have the correct motherboard model and revision selected when downloading.
Hi bro u made this a year ago and all that but i have a gigabyte ga-z170x-gaming 7-oc and i cant for the love of god find a q flash option in my bios can you mby help?

(i have a gigabyte b550 aorus pro ac) ok so when i get to the bios flash it has 4 options for flashing and all of them say “unknown device” and i clicked through all of them and none of them are the right one. i tried with 2 different usb’s and same result. and yes i plugged it into the right usb slot. the usb is just under 32gb so i dont think that is the issue. it’s formatted to FAT32. i have flashed my bios before with the same usb and had no issues at all. any suggestions?
So i got the a small problem which i just dont understand i got the gigabyte b650 gaming x ax and when i start my pc he always wants me to press the key N otherwise the pc wont start is there anyway to turn this off?
Am i able to have a friend download the bios onto a usb then put it into my computer on first startup to flash the motherboard as 14th gen cpu's arent supported. Do you install windows then enter bios or do you enter bios before installing windows?
My pc is reeboting rn, as I type, its ok its 5th reboot…. Wait, something is loading as I type, YES, it worked, you are amazing, earned a like, sub and a comment, the least I could do for you man!!!
I get a Id check error every time. I double checked if i got the right bios for my motherboard. it is indeed the right one with the newest intel microcode patch. but it wond let me install the update. maybe bc my bios version rn is from 2022 and i need to install a previous one first?
Great video! Unfortunately as i followed the steps up to update BIOS i dont see my formatted USB stick and worse, i dont see any except for a "A:Verbatim" option. In your video i could see your SSDs as well? Is there something wrong with my motherboard that it doesnt let me see other options?
Some times they don't make it very easy to use the file explorer in BIOS's. If you haven't already the only thing I can think to suggest is trying it in all of the USB ports, as some motherboard have a specific USB port that you need to have to USB in for it to be detected.
THANKYOU! I had to update it to F32 first on mine for install compatibility with the more recent versions, but to install that version also had to install a new EC firmware to install f32
When I download the bios update the zip file has 3 files, a folder with another folder within, and inside that two more files, one of those files is a PDF, should I be picking a specific file or just throwing everything in?
Usually you can just put all of the files on the USB and the BIOS should only display the BIOS update file when selecting the file to flash. However, I would suggest checking that the files are first. For example, if it is a PDF then it quite likely could be instructions.
Quick question I’m using a X570 aorus, I did everything here but at the final step it says “BIOS ID check error” what’s the issue? I downloaded the latest available bios should I download a different one?
BIOS ID check error usually means you have the wrong BIOS for your motherboard. I would check again that you have the BIOS for your exact motherboard and revision number.
Sorry I didn’t word it right. After updating bios, it didn’t boot into windows or bios. I hear the pc turning off and on and my lights are running. Nothing is being displayed in my monitor though..
Hello, I've just built a PC. First time builder, I used a gigabyte master z790 with Intel.I9 GEN 13. with asus 4080. And I cannot get it to boot up. Everything turns on, but nothing shows up on my monitor. Can you update bios when the motherboard is in a state like this? It's probably a noobie question. But I have no idea where to start with this. I've went through all the cords and cables. Retraced my steps. But still nothing.
Where are you plugging your monitor into? With a new build you wont have GPU drivers yet so plugging your monitor into your GPU is pointless. Plug your HDMI into your MOBO port given your CPU has onboard graphics

With new bios is it possible to boot from a nvme installed via adapter pciex4?
I’m not sure what part I’m not doing correctly but when I click update bios I don’t see anything on the right side opposite system volume information ?

Do i need to unzip the downloaded file into the usb?
and how do i know that there is a dedicated usb slot?
do I need to reformat pc or I can do it with all the files I have such as games etc
Fantastic video. Thank you so much for this very informative video. Everything worked perfectly!
Thank you, glad you liked the video.
Won’t gigabyte control center do this more easily?
This was the easiest tutorial, my 89 year old grandma can follow it.
Thanks so much. Clear and concise info. Really helpful.
Do we only need the 1 file, or all of them?
i click on the usb in the bios but no file shows up? its formatted and is a 32gb drive. what an i doing wrong?
I got the same issue, reseted my pc externally and everything went back to normal. Perhaps try doing that?
My pc is reeboting rn, as I type, its ok its 5th reboot…. Wait, something is loading as I type, YES, it worked, you are amazing, earned a like, sub and a comment, the least I could do for you man!!!

Thank you, glad I could help.
Quick and easy to follow. Thanks man!
Thanks, glad I could help.
thank you for teaching me how to update the bios of my modaboaad!
No problem, happy to help.
I have the current bios at FA2. I do not know which bios to update too.
THANKYOU!
I had to update it to F32 first on mine for install compatibility with the more recent versions, but to install that version also had to install a new EC firmware to install f32
Glad you liked the video, happy to help.
I have an issue i keep on getting bios id check error i using the gigabyte b650 elite ax i have rev 1.0 and the bios version is fb2
Does cpu clock speed also reset or does it stay the same
Thanks a ton for this! A little rusty on my Windows practice and couldn't remember how to get my thumb drive to FAT32
What if the web page write rev.1.x? Is it compatibility match to mobo 1.2 ?
Quick question I’m using a X570 aorus, I did everything here but at the final step it says “BIOS ID check error” what’s the issue? I downloaded the latest available bios should I download a different one?
BIOS ID check error usually means you have the wrong BIOS for your motherboard. I would check again that you have the BIOS for your exact motherboard and revision number.
I just updated my bios but it didn’t boot to screen saver. Am I okay to touch mess with it? The monitors are off but the pc is running
Sorry I didn’t word it right. After updating bios, it didn’t boot into windows or bios. I hear the pc turning off and on and my lights are running. Nothing is being displayed in my monitor though..
It's normal for a black screen to be displayed for around 20 minutes, I would at least leave your PC as is for an hour before messing with it
Hello, I've just built a PC.
