I have the same mobo and 7800x3D currently on FB would you recommend upgrading to what’s recommended in gigabyte control centre? That would be FA2. I’m nervous about updating. Any issues with FB and frying the chip?
Going through the gigabyte control center would be a good option if it is your first time updating. One reason to do the upgrade is you will get security fixes and other updates like AGESA updates. When you do the update be patient, It will take some time. I hope this calms your nerves. @ssdrmstre I am also planning on getting the micro center bundle, but have heard some complaints about this motherboard. Are there any updates to your situation?
Hi, I've got the first version of this mobo and the bios looks like how it does in this video and not how it does in your video for it. It's on version FA2 and I'm trying to update the BIOS to potentially fix a performance issue. I have no experience with updating a BIOS so I'm being extra careful. Is it normal for the original version to have this layout?
I did a video on the bios of the original version and it does look different. It is not uncommon that these manufactures will update the look over bios updates. If you update thru the bios flash tool they should verify the correct version and rev of the board before the flashing starts.
@@yoshiofred I would not say complete, because power outages and there is a chance of a bad flash. I have had that once in 20 years of building computers, many years ago. I have gone thru q-flash and accidently selected a different bios I had on a USB and it didn't allow me to update.
@@GrayaOverload Well the BIOS update worked out, but for some reason my issue still persists. Oh well. Appreciate your replies! Updating a BIOS really isn't as hard as I thought it was.
Greetings . A question ..the V2 Motherboard is more newer than the default was released? Is compatible with Linux? Because I use only Linux the last 5 years
Yes, it is a newer version I did an unboxing of this mobo that went over the differences. biggest different is default doesn't support the 8000G series processors. I would think this would work on Linux. My friend that got this uses windows so I never tested.
I have built a machine with this board (Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX). I have a 2GB SSD, AMD Ryzen 9 7900x, and Windows 11. I finally got Windows installed using a flash drive, but when I went to restart the computer without the bootable USB, it did not start, and I got a blue screen with no bootable device found. I tried changing the boot options and finally gave up. how should I set up the CSM support and secure boot? what am I doing wrong?
First I would make sure you reset bios to default. Next, I would try to install windows again. Make sure to delete all partitions during the install. Let me know the results.
Thank You for your time. How do you set bios to boot from cd drive ? These newer set up menus are full of technical stuff and nothing to help you get going.
I built my pc with the same mobo/cpu combo. Got it up and running but my network adapter/wifi is not working. I tried getting the software from the website and installing but seems the install won’t take. I tried reinstalling windows 2x and still not working properly. I have not tried to update the bios (never done it before) but would that be the missing piece I need to update?
It shouldn't be. I updated to the latest before installing Windows. So, I can't verify if that would have helped. I think Gigabyte has an issue with putting the right drivers on the right page. Not 100% sure yet, but I have been looking at all these revs on a few different boards. One way I go through and find the driver is to go to the device manager, right-click on the device that needs help, and click properties. In Properties, click on the details tab. change the property to Hardware Ids. I will copy the top id and search it to verify what device it is and what driver I need. That normally points me to the right driver in the support page or the search will put me on the path to the right direction. If you want paste that path in here or reach out to me and I can take a look as well.
sorry fo all the questions but i finally built the pc and was wondering if there was a fan controller for the case fans for some reason they dont show on my fan control app for my cpu i have a good fan curve set for my gpu and cpu but my case fans are i think on max always they are very loud I have a LANCOOL 216 any help would be appreciated
I had a build recently in the lancool 216 airflow that didn't have a fan controller for case fans in the version I bought and I plugged them into the motherboard. They were all fine with fan speed. If you did buy the version with a fan controller and plugged them into it you probably have some other way to control it, buttons or software depending on the fan controller. I hope I helped.
I have the same case. My fans aren’t load tho. I’m having other issues, I can’t figure out if it’s the motherboard or cooling system. Lian Li Case 216 v2 Lian Li ALC 360 Coolant System Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX Motherboard. I have my pump connected to Fan3/System Pump. I have the CPU_Fan Connected to the CPU_Fan Header on the motherboard. Nothing in the CPU_Opt. The Coolant Pump lights up, but the fans do not and they don’t move. Inside the BIOS, it says N/A for the CPU_Pump and the CPU_Fans. I have no idea what’s going on with this. Everything else shows in the BIOS.
Wondering if you might be able to help with an issue. Seem to have the same build. Having a current issue where I plug in my headphones (Logitech G35 USB) and everything is fine. Audio is perfect, but if I go into mic settings or if I join voice chat in Diablo 4 it seems like it struggles to recognize the mic. Audio starts cutting in and out repeatedly while the headset begins appearing and disappearing as recognized device.
I don't know much about that headset. One thing I would make sure you have the latest AMD chipset drivers. I am guessing you already went thru the game settings. How many USB devices do you have plugged into the computer?
@@GrayaOverload Think I got it figured out somewhat. Plugging into the front ports presents some level of communication issues. Plugging directly into the back of the MB seems to have resolved the issue.
Hi there! I have this mb and face this problem. When i first builded the PC my BeQuite! Dark Rock Elite cooler's LED was on and working fine. Suddenly one day stopped. The guys from BeQuite have send a replacment cup it doesn;t work as well. They suggest it must have been turned of somewhere in BIOS settings but i cannot find anywhere a setting for this...
You only installed the cooler and nothing else changed? What do you mean by CPU not working as well? CPU has Higher temps or not boosting as high? If you didn't change anything else and just the cooler I would expect it to be the same. You can reset the defaults in bios to see if that helps, but if that doesn't change anything there is something else going on.

I have an issue where my nvme has only been detected a couple times. It’s really odd because I’ve rebooted my system dozens of times and maybe only twice has it detected my nvme drive. Was wondering if there’s a setting to turn it on?
no setting to turn it on. I would try the other nvme slot. It is weird it is random. I would check firmware of the drive if you can get it booted. I don't think any fixes were in the bios for the board for nvme but I can't rule that out. It could also be a hardware mal function, trying the other slot will help determine that.
Here’s my issue: I have no idea what to do at this point. I have a Lian Li ALC 360 Coolant System and a Gigabyte B650 X AX V2 Motherboard (note: the Lian Li pump cable only has a 3 pin socket that still will fit on the 4 pin motherboard header. I have the pump plugged into the system pump 4 pin on the motherboard. I have the other cable of the two plugged into the CPU Fan Header on the mother Board. Nothing is plugged into the CPU_Opt. The lights on the pump come on, but the fans do not move nor does it recognize/detect the CPU Fan or the Pump in the BIOS. Both says N/A. It does however stay at about 37 degrees. No recognition of coolant fans at all. My only issue with this new build.
I have this motherboard with the 7700X. Randomly I experience a "half reboot" where the power will be on and the fans are working but the screen is off and everything else unresponsive, the PSU has to be turned off at the switch; The red light CPU is on. I'm not sure of its the MB or the CPU. I took the motherboard back for repair as they said there was a pin missing. When I got it back repaired it did the half reboot again 3 days later and has got back to randomly everyday. Has anybody else experienced this? The bios is on F21 currently and F9 prior.
Can I get full specs of the system (including psu model)? I have seen this before on different systems but normally is a pain to diagnose. I have seen bad PSU, bad memory, gpu issue, etc.
Thanks. Nothing jumps out. Everything looks like it should be quality. When this happens is it under load or are you just started doing something or waking from sleep?
@GrayaOverload it's completely random. Could be when it's boosting or trying to. There are no logs for me to check. Nothing sure if it's the Aio not on properly or cpu faulty. Also happens when just browsing.
I have spent many hours trying to figure out a problem like that, and it could be just about anything. Your memory is stock speed? Do you have another power supply to test?
Hello, how can I change the fan settings like yours? I can't click on that scale at the smart fan page. I dont understand why it is not allowing me to click on it to add and adjust the dots on the scale
Hey, question. I had 2x ( 16gb ) g skill trident rams in I bought two more (16gb ) but I get stuck in boot loop. If I’m not mistaken I have to set the timing and etc manually on my MB BUT all these videos don’t show anything for my specific motherboard so everything is listed and probably named different. I’m trying to configure and tweak the timing etc but don’t know where exactly to go do so. Can you possible help ?
I can try. Before tweaking memory timing. If you just boot with new 2 memory sticks, does it boot fine? If that works put all 4 sticks in and reset bios. I am guessing you are on the latest bios and that these are the same model memory.
@@GrayaOverload thank you for the fast and quick reply. I am NOT on the latest bios. I am aware I have to manually update my bios by visiting gigabyte and searching my MB and downloading the latest update to a flash drive. Then inserting the usb flash in the red usb port ( usb bios ). I was just missing a flash drive which I will be getting my hands on today. Prior to all this information I filled you in with. At times it would start “ normally “ with slll four rams same brand same speed and same 16gb x2 ( the two new I added ) when I enable xmp and hit save and exit it would go into a boot loop. My fans and everything else would start up normally but after it’ll just go into a boot loop and the fans won’t turn on. So I went and removed the cmos coin to reset my bios and did it again this time around I enabled xmp, low latency & bandwidth. Same thing happens. The only way is if I do not go into bios and let the pc start up with out going into bios. I tried that twice and it seems like that’s the only way it’ll boot w out entering bios and enabling xmp
It is weird on the entering bios and it boot looping. I would try bios first. Just to confirm both sets work with xmp enabled if you only have that one set in?
@@GrayaOverload so I am currently running only 2 rams on A2 &B2 and they are working with xmp enabled. Also when it does decide to boot with all four rams still installed my rams mhtz are at 3k which is under performing but with just two it’s giving me a higher number can’t remember exactly how much
Ok, I wanted to make sure each set work at the same xmp without the other set installed. I know Ryzen can have issue when going to 4 stick. Bios updates sometimes help get past that before having to tweak memory in the bios. Let me know what the state is once you update the bios. That will give me some time to boot into bios on my gigabyte AMD system and take a look at and refresh me on all the memory settings again.

I just do not know why the need for pcie x16 bifurcation. It is weird for my gigabyte x670 mb since the other 2 pcie slots are connected to the CPU via a pcie x4 bridge. So slotting two GPU cards will have x16 and x4 speeds. Again, if it is an add in card, it can only be slotted in the other two pcie slots with max pcie x4 speed. I think bifurcation comes into play when you do not use a dedicated GPU card (use IGP) and connect say a pcie adapter card in the pciex16 slot that supports 4 nvme drives thus you can bifurcate 4x4x4x4. The need to bifurcate and add more nvme cards is crazy as my x670 mb has 1 pcie5 nvme, 3 pcie4 nvme plus two pcie3 x4 and x2 slots (6 nvme ssds).

@@quirkylwj I don't think Windows has the driver for that card on the install yet. You could try the shift+f10 method to bypass. If that doesn't work you can use Rufus to remove that part of the install. I have used the shift+f10 and have a video on this. That would be the simplest and then install the drivers when windows is installed. There is a way as well to add the drivers to install and setup, depending on the effort you want to try. To update bios Gigabyte does have some information on that but you can use their Windows tool @BIOS which is in the Gigabyte Control Center. You can also download the bios for your board put it on a USB and then use the flash tool in bios to update it. I don't know what you mean by Activate tpm. This board and the other video you posted this exact question on don't need to update bios for Windows 11 support, for other security fixes it probably will need a bios update. To see the TPM details open Windows Security, then click on Device Security, From there it will either have a security processor or say "Standard Hardware Security not supported". If you are on a different board that is older then you probably will need an update to get Windows 11 and default the tpm 2.0 to on. As far as the PCI/VEN_100 I would look at your device manager and make sure all devices have drivers. I would need to know more then just PCI/VEN_100.

Quick update: Spoke to micro center and managed to get WiFi drivers installed. There were two different drivers: AMD WIFI driver and Realtek WiFi drivers (there was a 4 digit number attached to the “Realtek ____ WiFi driver” that I don’t quite remember right now). (Quick notice: I followed a tutorial to do the windows 11 set up without WiFi which involved opening up commands and typing something in then selecting a many option at windows 11 network set up) The issue when using a laptop to download the drivers to a flash drive was that I unzipped the folder with the driver before transferring it to my computer. That was why it did not install. So after getting the AMD WiFi driver instead of the Realtek WiFi driver, and properly installing it by unzipping and double clicking in the correct computer, everything started to work.
TL;DR: Bypassed windows 11 set up with a command Used separate laptop to download “AMD WiFi driver” from gigabytes website list of drivers (Gigabyte Gaming X AX V2 M.B.) Plugged the flash drive with the WiFi driver into new PC then unzipped + installed. Installed the rest of my needed drivers after connecting to WiFi.

@@GrayaOverload So updating through Q-Flash is completely safe? Thank you for such a quick reply btw!
@@yoshiofred I would not say complete, because power outages and there is a chance of a bad flash. I have had that once in 20 years of building computers, many years ago. I have gone thru q-flash and accidently selected a different bios I had on a USB and it didn't allow me to update.

@@GrayaOverload The cooler is running and all pc works fine. Just cooler's light went off suddenly. I replaced the light cup, not working too. So it is not the hardware. Some setting shut down the led, but I cannot find such a setting in bios

(Quick notice: I followed a tutorial to do the windows 11 set up without WiFi which involved opening up commands and typing something in then selecting a many option at windows 11 network set up)
The issue when using a laptop to download the drivers to a flash drive was that I unzipped the folder with the driver before transferring it to my computer. That was why it did not install. Plugged the flash drive with the WiFi driver into new PC then unzipped + installed.
Installed the rest of my needed drivers after connecting to WiFi.

Can you do a video with this board with the best settings you think is good?
I will work on trying to get a video on that. This is my friends machine and I have to get him to bring the machine back over to record. Luckly, he lives closer to me then some of the other builds I have done.
My pc just stay black no matter what. Is it because im using my ssd from the last board?
@@maliekjames6892 no, you should at least see the bios screen if it was the SSD issue. Do you have any red lights on the board.
@@GrayaOverload No but I believe it was the CPU pins I just got a Mag B650 Tomahawk Instead. It just crazy that I got the B650 Used, the pins were good until seating the CPU and I seated it correctly. I think the CPU screws were way to tight but Micro center said they can't take it back once the pins damaged so I just put it in the trash.
@@liekmajor8130 That sucks. I don't know if the pins bent or were broken off. I have spent hours straightening pins. I haven't tried soldering pins back on.
@@GrayaOverloadsmh wow that’s crazy they weren’t broken off just slightly bent and I also seen a post, they said my Processor did not wanna work with the bios and the the update doesn’t work for my processor.
@@maliekjames6892 Getting the latest bios is easier but I think Mobo makers need to make strides making it even easier to approach for users.
Where in this bios can I disable wifi?
No. but they should have it.
Kinda wanted you to explain the options not just read them out
Might be another video, to explain all the options or a video on a few options. I will look at doing that. Just going thru bios takes a while let along explain. :) Thanks for the feedback.
Where do I do the online internet
Are you talking about wireless?
Yeah how is wifi possible with this thing ?
@@OFFICIALZAR422 you need to go to gigabyte support site and download the driver. You will need to make sure you have the right version and revision for the correct drivers.
@@GrayaOverload tried to install one but still no Wi-Fi appeared

I installed windows and can't get it to boot...
i have the same problem… did you ever figure out how to do it?
@@itami289 Faulty hardware
@@toutloffc1 How did you fix it exactly? I think I downloaded a corrupted file into the drive I put into my pc possibly damaging my ssd. Not too sure it’s my first pc.
Arigato, mate
The bios is always stuttering with these 7k chips. I have the 7800x3D and I've never had a worse bios experience.. had a 3770k, 5930k, 9600k, 10400, 12600k, etc in various PCs..first time AMD and never had such a bad bios experience.
What do you mean stuttering? When you move the mouse or also when you use the keyboard?
@@GrayaOverload Mouse... Visually stuttering as his is, skipping around.
@@Vdhm91 do you have a different mouse to try. If you have different dpi setting it can produce this. I mostly use a keyboard. But I seen this on different bios from time to time. Depends on the mouse implementation in bios.
@@GrayaOverload I know it's the 7k chips. Another video I watched had made the same comment and a friend of mine has the same issue. We both just got our 7800x3Ds with this mobo.
@@Vdhm91 same motherboard maker?
Would help if you actually discussed what the settings do and not just reading them. Thumbs down.
Thanks for the comment. This was a walk thru, I appreciate that someone want something more in-depth. I will keep that in mind for the next one.
clueless
This board sucks
why?
Do you know how i can cap my ram speed? I bought a 6400 set and want to bring it down to 6000
You can do it manually if it doesn't have a expo or xmp profile. I would have to look at it again, it has been a bit since I tweaked it manually. I have had goo success with the profiles.
@@GrayaOverload i do have xmp enabled but it's running at 6400 and idk if its gonna cause stability issues with am5
@@IBaknam if it is running fine, I would go with it. If you do run into issues then remember what the memory is at go to stock to see if that is an issue. If it is then, that is when ibwiuld manually tune to 6000
