Reviews like that one in the beginning of this video are why I want to be able to reply to reviews on the Amazon app, so that people can respond to reviews or correct people who use a product wrong.
And responding to this comment: ;-) it is not a REVIEW, it is an SPONSORED PRESENTATION, or ADVERTISEMENT, but I am inclined to trust JCB’s integrity in choosing sponsorships wisely
@@SionFrenchThank you. For a second I thought I had misunderstood. The guy starts saying he'll do a review, 5 seconds into it, he's selling like Saul Goodman. Not impressed 😅
Just pre ordered mine.

Do you think that products like this becoming more popular will influence phone manufacturers to start including video out on their phones? I hope so. It's such a good, underrated feature to have available
It possibly can, but they are scared to do that because it'll hurt their ecosystem. Just look at OnePlus 11 and OnePlus Pad, both can easily have USB-C 3.1/3.2 with wired video output support, but that's not what they have in mind for the two.
You're the Man!
Nice!
Face displays are a while new category I'm really excited about
They're getting so good. This is the kind of stuff where we'll really learn how to bring AR to the masses.
Hoping you'll do the Viture One soon, maybe as part of another comparison now that basic functionality can be used with more devices via each companies unique implementation.
I've been eyeing them pretty hard. I want to revisit the TCL too.
I also ended up preordering one, used the discount code Rokid sent me to get it $20 cheaper. I tried winning thier recent promo where I could get my Rolid Max order fully refunded as a prize, guess they didn't think me turning my Rokid Max into a Virtual Boy was cool enough to win, lol.
Great review! However, I tried these on a Delta flight and couldn't connect to Wi-Fi with the Rokid Ststion. How do you use the set on a flight?
Would be nice if it had a micro sd card slot for usage offline. If it had that then I would have purchased one for use with my Max immediately.
That would be REALLY handy.
There is a built in 32gb storage for offline viewing
@@davyjonesmanzana7718 yep, not enough in this day and age.
@@zerousenExactly. It won't be long before all the downloaded offline files fills up the entire space.
Does the station improve upon the sound of the glasses?
The price seems a little steep for the functional equivalent of connecting a Fire Stick and adapter to a battery pack. Though there's something to be said for having it all in one compact case (and having an on/off switch). I could see myself shopping at Walmart while watching the news with this. It is unfortunate this has no input capability. Being able to use BT earbuds with consoles that don't support them is nice (a very underrated Beam function, IMHO). Still, I'll probably pick one of these up.
Hi Juan! This is super cool! I'm wondering about compatibility with the old favorite LG V-60?
It's a Chromecast. It works with any phone the same way a chromecast would work. 👍
Can this work with external hard drive over the usb c to play mp-4?
Can you plug the Xreal into Rokid station and will it work?
This is what I wish the beam would have been. Maybe the beam 2 will have a "tv mode" and a "ar mode" (what it is now) and maybe a "nebula mode" (running the android app from the beam rather than phone)
I'd def be down to get this for my x/n real airs if supported. More convenient than using up my phone battery life. And when I go to hotels or whatever I don't need to bring my whole tablet to watch content. I can just bring this and plug it into the tv and watch whatever I want. And the Bluetooth can let me hook up a controller for Xbox game pass hopefully
Another RUclipsr said that this is compatible with Xreal Airs, I’m thinking about selling or returning my Beam for the rokid station.
Oh yes, one of the reasons I'm demoing this on a portable monitor is to show ANYTHING that accepts an HDMI connection is able to work with the Station.
Lemme edit this comment again LOL. I did not know about the XReal toggle for HDMI audio, but it will work with the Station. Long press the brightness rocker for six seconds, and the Xreal switch to a different audio mode.
Now I’m seeing that there’s a watermark on the screen whenever you connect Xreal glasses to the rokid station . Is this true?
Not on mine. I demo using it with a monitor. Do you see any banner?
Does the rokid station support usb c hubs? For example, I have a usb c hub with a 3.5 mm headphone jack that I wanna use to connect my wired headphones to the rokid station. The Ikko ITX-01 Docking Station is a usb c hub/dongle with a built in hifi dac with 2 usb c ports, 3 usb a version 3.2, 3.5 mm headphone and 4.4 mm balance audio, 2 memory card slots, and 4k 60 hz full size hdmi port. I'm looking for a pair of smart glasses that support these features by plugging the smart glasses to a power bank to the usb c hub than plug the usb c hub to my razer blade 15 gaming laptop with it's 4k 144 hz display and 3080 ti gpu while gaming in 4k and plug my xbox controller to the usb c hub from one of the usb a ports. When I'm traveling I can use them usb c hub to my sony xperia 1 iv android phone and enjoy the 4k 120 oled display to the smart glasses while being connected to the rokid station or rokid max.
Android TV WIGS OUT when it detects other connections. I tried that on my chromecast, and the video was disabled. I THINK that's why Rokid went with Micro HDMI. There is no data io port on the Station.
Can we sideload APKs ?
Mine finally arrived and here is my review. It runs hot. I have no idea why they also sent a remote just to be able to speak to Google assistant? The video is slightly larger than the glasses allows you to see so the far left edges in the upper and lower corners are not in your direct view and are somewhat blurry. It took 1 month to arrive from China! With all of this I still LOVE it because there is no other device out there that allows you to stream video from an android OS using all of the video apps you have on your phone. Plus it has 32 gigs o space so if you want to rent or buy a digital movie you can download it directly to the device. Now, I dont know how you get the video off or how you put videos you already on....for $149 im happy. However if you can find a cheaper phone that outputs video via a usb c port then you could do that instead but I could not find any for $149 or less
Rokid Max - At least it can be found: Resolution: FHD 1920x1080 pixel RGB per eye. Micro OLED Display. On - XReal Beam - Resolution There is no resolution mentioned anywhere?
It's the same, I put it in my video on the Xreal. What you also need to consider is resolution OVER the field of view.
How do I use it with a Bluetooth headset? I have a Galaxy S22 Ultra and I don't see any video about that. All sounds come from the speaker of the glasses, not the external Bluetooth headset.
how to connect prime video??
I notice you mentioned a lot of media platforms except the biggest of them, Netflix. Does that mean you can't watch Netflix on it. Even on their website i don't see a single Netflix logo, and i know Netflix has a stron DRM policy, so i'm very curious on this.
Netflix compatibility is its own singular challenge for companies certifying DRM. Many phones lose hi res playback, and Netflix is really protective of their platform. The folks at Rokid say compatibility is coming soon, but they didn't want to further delay the launch of the Station JUST for one app.
@@SomeGadgetGuy got you, thanks.
Hopefully more phones start including video outs.
We lost a few. Hope we get them back.
It's up to them if they dare to disrupt their own ecosystem.
Has anyone been able to get this to work on the Retroid Pocket 3 Plus?
I'm curious, what are your thoughts on moving past the mah measurement and simply state the amps per hour. I feel like our use of batteries and the public knowledge base is bettered served by saying 1.5 ah as opposed to 1500 mah
LOL I all about using the simpler measurements and reducing my fractions.
Warning...you cant buy the station alone so if you already have the glasses the only way to order it is thru the Rokid store out of China. Then they send you an email after you pay telling you that it is back ordered and wont arrive for several weeks or months.
Does the glasses or the Station support 3DOF?
The glasses do have sensors for 3dof but the Station does not interact with those sensors.
is there a browser on this to play discord activity games and chat or is the discord app on this android tv controller console thing?
It's an Android TV, so no direct support for browsers and apps like discord, but sideloading an APK should work fine. You'd just need a better input device, like a bluetooth keyboard.
@@SomeGadgetGuy so i can plug it into my computer, open the folder and put my brave browser inside together with discord and it works?
I have the AR Max and the station. But my phone is not compatible it's an Android. How can I cast or mirror my cell phone to the glasses?
You should be able to use them with Android. Also, what phone are you using anyway?
I am sooo close of ordering it , BUT rokid Max Pro i think is just around the corner , anyone know when it will be out , should I wait or just go for it haha
Ugh. I've been watching the available 6DoF headsets for a couple years now, DYING for an international release.
@@SomeGadgetGuy and what do you mean with this answer? haha
Does this have 3dof like the xreal beam?
Nope. The Station does not add head tracking like beam, but it gets significantly longer battery life and doesn't require active cooling.
@@SomeGadgetGuythanks!
Would be nice if I could plug this into the Xreal Beam for extra power and 3Dof 🤔
Maybe I've done that...
Nice! You are the man!! My beam that I preordered should be here tomorrow, and I preordered the rokid station yesterday, I can’t wait to give it all a try! Thanks again for being informative and responsive!!! 👍🏿
I see this video about a week after I finally received my XREAL Beam... Hoping the Beam can get some updates soon and compete with the Rokid Station.
Great video!
I've got more planned for the Beam too. It's tough because Beam is SO different from anything else techies have seen before. Hilariously, Beam + Station almost kinda works...
@@SomeGadgetGuy yeah, I love the Beam for what it does. Super Excited to see this tech genre become more mainstream!
@@SomeGadgetGuy I’m curious, what works and what doesn’t?
Can you use Rokid air with an iPad?
It should act the same as any other external display, so long as the iPad supports video out.
@@SomeGadgetGuy so you haven’t tried it with an iPad? And you don’t know how to connect the glassed with an iPad? I can’t believe the company has not provided clear information
I've been told that they are blurry on the edges 😅 is that true ?
Depends on the fit and the shape of your face. I keep mentioning this, but techies keep overlooking it.
What ONE pair of inner-aural earbuds is a perfect comfortable fit for 100% of the population?
That's right. There isn't one.
We can't make that work with audio. Putting displays in front of your face is more difficult than getting earbuds in your ears.
What fits my face, might not fit yours.
T12
Not familiar with Android TV....but with Station allow you to download a movie for offline viewing (no wifi on a plane)
Not directly. The TV apps for things like Disnye+ assume the device is connected to a TV, and isn't portable. There are ways to locally store and watch content, but the storage space is limited.
Has anyone tried rokid air with xreal boost yet?
Image out but no head tracking.
If they could add 3Dof to this thing, I would sell or return my Beam and purchase one.
Both companies have taken completely opposite approaches to powering their glasses. Funnily, the two will work together with XReal glasses.
does it have a headphone jack?
As much as I want to see headphone jack on the glass, I'm not sure if it's feasible.
Unfortunately no. Will connect over bluetooth like a chromecast, but it would be handy to have a dedicated audio out, and then that could also be handy for home AV equipment.
@@SomeGadgetGuy shame, wired audio headphones is so good,it could be the perfect set up cinema.
well i could always buy a the dac BTR5.
@@SomeGadgetGuy Is the usb port only for charging, or is it possible to use amp+dac dongle and connect headphones that way?
Nope. Only power. Android TV WIGS OUT when you try to add ANYTHING that can "intercept" and audio or video signal.
I feel like the rokid station isn't needed if you have a steam deck, everything you want to watch should be findable on steam deck mode :)
Sorry I meant desktop mode
Yeah. There are lots of other devices that can stream content directly to the glasses, like any phone with video output.
This is to help people who don't already have those kinds of gadgets OR who dont want to run down a steam deck battery to watch something on the go.
The funny thing is, you CAN use the Android TV app for Steam Link to dock your deck and let it charge, while playing on the Station with the Max wirelessly.
Iphones cant do video out?? News to me wth
They kinda cant. You have to get that obnoxious dongle, and they have difficulty powering ANY connection thirstier than a microsd card reader. Where I've been powering portable displays directly from Androids for a couple years now.
For a company that claims to "just work", iPhones need a LOT OF HELP getting basic things to work.
They never been able to in the first place.
@FAT8893 the guy said it above u. Them needing extra power to do something doesnt mean that they cant do it period. Everybody carries a powerbank, and most if not all portable displays save for these hmfs have some sort of power backup for themselves so it's mostly a nothingburger
1:14 Brands don't do that because it'll hurt their ecosystem. Instead of having one solution for all cases, they want you to buy more product that you don't need believing it's the way to go. At this point, Apple should have zero problem using iPad Stage Manager as the baseline for iPhone Desktop Mode. But Apple won't do that because it'll hurt their iPad sales. Here's another thought: Why can't we see a converged Android and ChromeOS? Give Android UI/UX on the phone screen and ChromeOS UI/UX through Desktop Mode. It's an absolute no brainer, really.
It's all about profit at the end of the day. It's the same reason why we aren't seeing the still-relevant headphone jack and microSD card slot on premium flagship phones except Sony because they want to sell you their wireless TWS and cloud storage solutions.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M Outside of gaming smartphones, that is. Only Sony put headphone jack (and microSD card slot) on premium flagship phones of today. The rest just don't.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M It can though. I have a friend of mine who have been using Samsung flagship tablets for a long time but no longer using it because of DeX from his S23.
So just to confirm, no real reason to buy this for any folks who have Samsung phones.
I mean, for Moto ReadyFor or Honor Magic or even old LG screen+ or ANY phone with video out. The point of this is to make the glasses computer independent. It's a completely contained chromecast style streaming platform.
It's kinda like saying "who needs a roku when I can plug my laptop into my TV". Sometimes you don't want to run your phone down just to stream some video.
@@SomeGadgetGuy True, but in that case it should include support for basic features like web browsing and other Google app essentials. This goes for both Roku Station and Xreal Beam.
