Those little circles (Christmas Tree Clips) are called dammits....seriously. BTW, Removing that liner would cost about a grand at the dealership, good on you for saving us BIG bucks! 😘
You left out what to do about the Air bag curtain things holding it up. I took it all apart but those. I cant remove the liner without it. I need to put it all back.
You lack overhead map lighting for the front seats. I'm about to cut in a map light assembly from later model years into my 07, but do you happen to remember if there was any 12v already up there near the front? Something to save me from having to run wiring and tap from elsewhere?
Very Nice , detailed video buddy! Now Looking for a video on how to completely remove the headliner? There are some parts on top that I’m not sure what to do with... especially the two silver round pieces that have screws and appear to be glued also. Thanks in advance!!!
Thanks man. Would like to help but unfortunately (or fortunately) I haven't had to fully remove it yet. Would be interested in hearing an update if you figure it out though.
Thank you for posting this now i don't have to figure it out for myself I actually have mice up there after storing the fj for the winter gonna get those bastards out I can hear them running around up there
6000$ in damage headliner and 2 airbags destroyed thankfully insurance is covering it the smell is horrible had to take it to a shop to finish the job after i removed headliner and saw the extent of it
I got the same problem. Found evidence of a nest inside the rear panel where the jack is located. Did you by chance end up sealing all those weird crevices to limit the movement of those stupid rodents?
I'm dropping only the drivers side. you'd think whatever came loose would be rolling around on the headliner. So far I've found nothing. Looks like i'll have to drop the whole left side.
I was lucky removing the bolts on mine, but I’ve read it’s very easy to dislodge the “nuts” on the inside of the vehicle just above the headliner when removing the bolts
So, is there really NOT a disconnect for the entire headliner somewhere in the drivers side column, leading down the side to the Body Control Module (fuses)? This cant be true!?!?!
my mirror has rear camera. Got it off. Thank you for the video. It gave me confidence That I wouldn't otherwise have.
Glad it helped!
Super helpful, especially the black silicone and 3/8” washers. Doing mine very soon. Just got the delete kit.
Never dropped a headliner before, pretty easy with step by step instructions like this. Big thanks!
Glad it helped!
Just FYI, i did this today and if you're just dropping the headliner, you don't need to dismantle the roof lights, they come down with the headliner.
Thanks for the tip
got most of it loose except for airbag button. The one above back seat. Got all the parts but I need room to put em in.
I like this video. I need to lower ( at least part of it ) so I can fish the wires from the lightbar to the dash. Thanks abunch
Glad it helped

Haha prefect name!
The front bolts on roof rack are gone. Just two holes. I'm trying to a look at the hardware that holds the bolts. Toyota dealership was no help.
Have you tried looking for parts diagrams?
You have an email address, I will send you the part number
Send me your email, I got the part number

It's been so long since I did this I can't remember what I did about it
The SRS Airbag clips (2) on ea side are hiding a 10mm hex screw. It pops open with the butter knife or small flat head to expose it.

This was a few years ago now so unfortunately I can’t remember
I haven't done this myself but you do have lights in the middle of the fj. You can grab wire and get the power out of that.
Thank you. Well done and very helpful.

Hi Ben! Did you ever get the headliner fully off and out of the car? If so, could you share the steps?
I have to know, what is that sound in the background? Sounds like a woodpecker.
That’s the sound of high quality camera equipment lol
Thank you for posting this now i don't have to figure it out for myself I actually have mice up there after storing the fj for the winter gonna get those bastards out I can hear them running around up there
That sucks! Have dealt with that a few too many times on other vehicles I've owned that weren't consistently driven.

I’m dealing with rodents now up there as well. Anyone know of all potential entrances on the FJ?
Did you ever determine how the water was leaking through?
Yes sir: ruclips.net/video/CgCufy5WnpE/видео.html

Excellent! Now I can remove my liner and clean the smoke stains caused by the previous owner. Anybody know if the ceiling speakers could be upgraded?
You are in the best position to find that out. Why don't you get back to us? Thanks!

I don't recall seeing one
Great video! BTW, you kind of talk like Elwood Blues.
