Never dropped a headliner before, pretty easy with step by step instructions like this. Big thanks!

Just FYI, i did this today and if you're just dropping the headliner, you don't need to dismantle the roof lights, they come down with the headliner.

Those little circles (Christmas Tree Clips) are called dammits....seriously. BTW, Removing that liner would cost about a grand at the dealership, good on you for saving us BIG bucks! 😘

The front bolts on roof rack are gone. Just two holes. I'm trying to a look at the hardware that holds the bolts. Toyota dealership was no help.

You left out what to do about the Air bag curtain things holding it up. I took it all apart but those. I cant remove the liner without it. I need to put it all back.

The SRS Airbag clips (2) on ea side are hiding a 10mm hex screw. It pops open with the butter knife or small flat head to expose it.

You lack overhead map lighting for the front seats. I'm about to cut in a map light assembly from later model years into my 07, but do you happen to remember if there was any 12v already up there near the front? Something to save me from having to run wiring and tap from elsewhere?

I haven't done this myself but you do have lights in the middle of the fj. You can grab wire and get the power out of that.

Very Nice , detailed video buddy! Now Looking for a video on how to completely remove the headliner? There are some parts on top that I’m not sure what to do with... especially the two silver round pieces that have screws and appear to be glued also. Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks man. Would like to help but unfortunately (or fortunately) I haven't had to fully remove it yet. Would be interested in hearing an update if you figure it out though.

Hi Ben! Did you ever get the headliner fully off and out of the car? If so, could you share the steps?

Thank you for posting this now i don't have to figure it out for myself I actually have mice up there after storing the fj for the winter gonna get those bastards out I can hear them running around up there

    • @dironaa

That sucks! Have dealt with that a few too many times on other vehicles I've owned that weren't consistently driven.

I got the same problem. Found evidence of a nest inside the rear panel where the jack is located. Did you by chance end up sealing all those weird crevices to limit the movement of those stupid rodents?

I’m dealing with rodents now up there as well. Anyone know of all potential entrances on the FJ?

I'm dropping only the drivers side. you'd think whatever came loose would be rolling around on the headliner. So far I've found nothing. Looks like i'll have to drop the whole left side.

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  Год назад +1

I was lucky removing the bolts on mine, but I’ve read it’s very easy to dislodge the “nuts” on the inside of the vehicle just above the headliner when removing the bolts

Excellent! Now I can remove my liner and clean the smoke stains caused by the previous owner. Anybody know if the ceiling speakers could be upgraded?

So, is there really NOT a disconnect for the entire headliner somewhere in the drivers side column, leading down the side to the Body Control Module (fuses)? This cant be true!?!?!
