    I took out the rear seats in my 2008 FJ and installed a bed a few months ago, best RV ever! Wanting a way to open the rear window and lock/ unlock the door the door from the bed in the middle of the night, etc your video was invaluable to me. @@LiL13izzy7 OK, so I did a modified version of your window button. I installed a button on the main console under the head unit. I used this button from Ebay. (PASSENGER EJECT 8B85G Push switch 12V LED green For Toyota FJ Cruiser ) It says "Passenger Eject". This button is not a momentary switch so it has to be modified a bit. Thank you again for the original video on how to do this.

    Did the mod this weekend. Nice and easy, thanks for the idea and the instructions. Used a 3/4" drill bit and the switch you linked fit snug and fine. I have a 2011 and it doesn't control the front doors, just the rear. Would be great if it could control the fronts too, but simply having the ability to open the rear glass without a key is extremely beneficial for less than $20 and a little bit of time.

    Even more useful than the A Trac Hack. Having to walk with a cane, with my dog on leash to the driveway, the FJ door will sometimes lock itself again, or I will have to hit the unlock button twice on the key remote when the window is tilted open, to get it unlocked. This Hack is my project for this week, thank you! And my GSD thanks you!

    great video man. After watching this last week I decided to go ahead and give it a shot today on my FJ 2007. I did it with one variation. I ran the switch up onto the center console.I put the switch next to the mirror controllers on the left side console.Took a couple hours had to run the wires down under the trim and through the boot/wire cover from the door to the main cabin. Having the switch up with all the other switches in the main cabin just seemed to be a little more useful for me. Now I can unlock the window or lock and unlock the back door from the driver's seat. Awesome video man thanks for the idea.

    We must be on the same level, I saw this mod last week and was excited about it. Amazon should be delivering my switches today and I can't wait to do this mod myself. I "may" have something really cool for that rear door in addition to this in the near future, when I take it apart I'll see how the structure is designed to see if it will work. Thanks for the video! I have a 2007 FJ and I didn’t like that it locked all the doors when I opened the window. Pretty annoying. I wired my switch directly to the solenoid so it only opens the window (bypassing the computer logic that detects a long key turn to the right). Note: a beefy diode is required if you go this route and want to retain the original functionality. Otherwise you need to cut the power wire to the solenoid so you don’t backfeed the signal generator.

    But if I have to open the back door to open the window why open the window? I already have access to the trunk. Thank you again for showing how to wire that switch. I completely agree that should have been factory installed.

    • @LiL13izzy7
      @LiL13izzy7  Год назад +2

      You don't have to open the back door to open up the window (you can simply turn and hold the key to the right in the trunk's key-hole for a few seconds to unlatch it).
      This mod would be useful for someone who spends time in the trunk (like sleeping in the back while camping), and would like to crack the window open from the inside, or to exit the vehicle without having to climb out the front seats.

    • @mrchrishill
      @mrchrishill Год назад

      Considering your exit while in the trunk example… I guess someone pops the window open using your switch and then what? Climbs out the window? Reaches impossibly far down for the handle to open the trunk?

    • @LiL13izzy7
      @LiL13izzy7  Год назад +1

      @@mrchrishill Nope. The window mod was done in conjunction with an internal door release mod: ruclips.net/video/sSnkhgAPwZ4/видео.html
      As far as the internal release mod goes, let's just say you want to exit the vehicle, you can open the door from the inside, as opposed to having to climb over the console and exit out one of the front doors, or in your example, open the window and reach an impossible distance to the outside door handle.

    • @LiL13izzy7

      It mimics the actions of turning the key in either direction. Turning it one way will lock the door (hold to unlock the window). Turning it the other way will unlock the door. The two rocker positions are like the left and right positions on the door key. I demonstrated this at the 9:52 mark of the video, and further explained at the 12:24 mark.

    It is better to put the control switch near the driver because sometimes one of the children wants to ride in the back and to avoid opening the window and causing him to fall

    • @LiL13izzy7
      @LiL13izzy7  3 года назад

      We don't have children riding in the cargo area, so the likelihood of that is slim to none. This is really meant for a convenient spot for someone to open the window if they are camping out in the back of the FJ. There are many other use cases, but for me personally, I don't see the practicality of mounting a switch in the front. Everybody has a different perspective, but the cool thing is you can route the switch to be anywhere you'd like.
