I’ve replaced all exterior lights with leds and it makes a world of difference. Mirror lights with amber bulbs are great. I started with led headlights and wasn’t happy with the stock housing light distribution so I replaced the housing with halo projector lights and really makes it unique. I’ve also added roof light bar, fog lights and grill lights with strobe capable in amber. Replacing the reverse back up and tail lights really helped as well. Hope dental school isn’t keeping you too busy so you can still get the FJ out for a little fun. I just finished 48 years of practice myself.
I believe that it’s a bit of an exaggeration to say the headlights of the FJ are inadequate. I often drive by night on mountain roads, sometimes with inclement weather and never had the sensation they weren’t good enough. However thank you so much, one of my brake bulbs burned out and I struggled to find a comprehensive list of bulbs to use as replacements. I agree that better reverse lights would be desirable, so I’ll probably swap those too. I will surely swap the interior dome and cargo lights that have burned long ago.
I always wondered, could you replace your mirror light with marker lights with just a bit of modification, I don't like the look of traditional markers over the hood and this would solve that but I haven't seen anyone do it yet.

Hey, I just joined the FJ community. My Used 07 FJ had headlights, fogs and mirror lights upgraded before me. I am getting a Christmas tree dash whenever I turn on the headlights now. Google leads me to believe it’s the leds someone used. Anyone else experienced this? I may start replacing them but wanted suggestions first. I think I’ll start with the mirror bulbs, maybe even replace the mirrors with something better.
Honestly the best lighting upgrade I did was replacing the crappy reverse lights with a brighter led one. Made such a big difference!
