I have a Korg Krome and I really love the realistic piano sounds and all of its capabilities. The only thing that sucks about it is the less durability on the road if you’re touring. You really need to invest in a better keyboard case because of the SD card. If that gets knocked out of place or if you need to get a brand new card you’re looking at 200 dollars just to fix the problem unless you do it yourself.
I don't have any of these, I can't play but love synths. All sound great to me and would be happy with any of them but Yamaha edges it for me. The Roland sounds a bit muted/dull and Korg sounds the opposite a bit upfront/brassy but the yamaha sounds the more natural and neutral sounding of the bunch. Great playing, I really need to learn!

Well, I had a Roland FA07, and now I have a Yamaha MODX since 3 month. No comparison : Yamaha sounds much better, and his touchscreen make it so easier to use !
Any time I see a comparison I wonder if they have bothered to fully edit the presets. By the way, some dont realize the FA has a full blown VA engine (along with the S+S etc) inside.
Likely not! And I always wonder about the audio connections too. May be my playing or my personal tweaking but my FA sounded better than his lol. And I've owned an Electro 6D (sold it) and now Yamaha YC73. Thinking about getting another FA.
The Roland Fa08 gives you knobs that lets you control the volume of your layers but the Roland Juno you can only use to sliders for layering but they both have the same sounds
I m not Shure about différences : the sound Can be changed on fa08 if you add some high fréquences in the equalizer ,and kill some middle Just a question of equalization.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for all 3 boards. Nothing will top the Fa in my opinion. You cannot beat those expansion packs !!! And the sound building capabilities from scratch is just like having a vintage Jupiter board.
Korg Krome 61 is good for recording a sound. Roland FA 06 is good for live performance. Where as Yamaha MODX is extraordinary thing. But where all keyboard have its own quality of sounds.

I like that he compares the contenders in the mid-range keyboard. However, it wasn’t fair for the Krome EX since its just the 61 key semi-weighted vs the others with 88 key hammer action, and the other 2 has sustain/damper pedals while there was none on the Korg Krome EX
Why use a 61 key Korg where you can't get as much bottoms as the other two bigger boards. Also, sounds like you're not using a sustain pedal with the Korg. Just my two cents.

That's a MODX8? How do the Yamaha fully weighted keys compare to synth action keys? I'm learning on a Roland FP-30 digital piano. I want to get a synth but I feel like fully weighted keys would be too slow for a synth?

Thanks for the comparison. They all sounds good in their own way but one thing that bugs me after all these years is why Korg still hasn't figured out how to do acoustic pianos. From Triton to now, all their APs sound so sterile and digital.
@@redmusichouse Totally agree Korg just don't do good pianos I worked in a dealership where we had a lot of different makes so got to try them all and as awesome a synth the Kronos is (it can't be that bad I have one) I still go to my Nord for piano
That reasoning is exactly why I sold my Electro 6D. To me, all the elements that make Nord pianos so special wash out in the settings I play in. Usually a drummer, bass, another keyboard player, guitar, etc. I Have a YC73 now. Thinking about returning it for a FA07. I used to have the 06 and I miss it dearly. The APs, EPs, strings, synth (of course) and even the organs were fine for me. Granted all were tweaked to my liking and stored on the board. And the overall features are bananas. Lot of menu diving but that it's feature packed. I missed the layering/split capabilites for sure. In the end....Yamaha outdid themselves with the original motif line. The MODX and Montage don't compare. Hence why most of the guys I see with either of those boards are still dragging around laptops and running soft synths
That’s exactly why it’s better for a pianist playing solo or just practicing at home. It’s absolutely the closest to an acoustic piano by default. The others (as are many except for Kurzweil & Kawai) are all focused on the too-treble end to cut through a band. That’s why they sound much poorer in solo presentation.
Great comparison and playing of course. I've got the Roland FA-08, which I love except for million mile an hour synth work. So I have put the Yamaha MODX6, Korg Krome 61 and cheapest of all, Roland Juno DS-61 on my shortlist. I didn't like the synth action of the Korg Krome 61 but that may have been a busted up store demo version. I like the feel, sounds and price of the Juno DS-61 but am edging (saving up) towards the MODX6 or even MODX7, what do you say RUclips people....wait until 2019, is there really a Krome 2 on the way next year?

What are the differences between their keybeds? I'm in the process of buying a new 88 keyboard and i need a good, durable, reliable keybed, among other things. Btw, I only know how juno ds88 feels, is the fa08 with the exact same keybed as ds88?

Looking for a new keyboard but it's so hard to know what to buy. The Roland sounds are pleasing to my ear but hate that the device is 7+ years old technology-wise.
I really like the Korg Kromes sequencer. It reminds me of the piano roll editing of Cubase. The sounds are ok, nothing special. Overall I like the krome. Yamaha sounds the best , but has lacked in the sequencer department since the ES. I loved the Motif Es sequencer. Roland is ok to, but the sequencer is not as good as Korg krome.
There different scales, and brands, for different purposes. The three giants on this industry. You can try any other combination from these brands. You put Krome in combi or seq mode where piano didn't have all the effects. Compare again in program mode or copy piano program settings effects to seq and compare again.
Agreed. The Krome sounds just cheap. The FA, however, is still a serious competitor. It sounds good, but the MODX sounds more ‘elegant’ or HiFi-like, probably due to its high frequencies. If it only had aftertouch!
That's my exact order. The MODX is by far the most expressive (people laughed at the Super knob when Montage was released in they aren't laughing now). And Roland FA is still one of my favorite keyboards. Never liked Krome, but Kronos is excellent.

Bright clear and well defined high sounds, ideal for Pop, And Rock, now, the real truth is... I love the three of them!
Great video and great performing. I have both the MODX and the Korg Krome and I prefer the Krome. I know you can store your sounds in the MODX"s user banks for quick switching but I noticed that you change sounds very quickly in the Krome. Could you please tell us how? Thanks
I like the MODX, sounds deep, I'm slightly opinionated because I'm deaf in on ear and mono seems easier to handle on the Yamaha than my Korg, would like to know what you think about the 3 different mfr's and their customer service/support, forums, tutorials, etc.
Instead of buying multiple boards, just get a Kronos and you won't need anything else. But out of budget, I got an fao8 *open box to save money* because the keys feel the nicest, and the onboard sounds and sequencers work in a pinch, and the Integra content via axiom is pretty good. But if I need anything more specific, I'd just plug it into a daw. Even if you don't like the sounds that much, it still makes for an amazing midi controller.
I need multiple keyboards because I use them in different context (Fa08 at home, modx and krome for gigs) 👍 I also like Kronos very much (except for acoustic piano)
@@lucalongoni4766 good point. It is much easier to have multiple boards in many applications. They're all fantastic boards tbh. I think Roland make some of the nicest feeling keys. I'll say the only gripe I have with the Kronos is the steep learning curve. It'll probably take me a year to start using the Kronos somewhat effectively.
Definitely prefer Roland. I have the semi-weighted FA-07. Unless your a dedicated (classical) pianist, I wouldn’t bother with the 88 key FA-08. So much heavier too. I’ve a Kurzweil stage piano to satisfy my classical urges. So much better than either the Roland or Yammy for that purpose!

I think krome has good synth sounds, not so good on acoustic sounds!
@@lucalongoni4766 I agree. As user of Krome and Modx, I think Modx better at acoustic instrument. And Krome is better at synth, drum and pads I think!
Wich one has the best PIANO key action for here?
2 years late but FA 08 has best key action. Even Yamaha fans do admit MODX is not as good
Can Korg Krome be used as a midi controller? and connect it to a mac?
Yes!
@@lucalongoni4766 Thank you...and it works with Pro Tools?
@@jejhoje3983 yes
Great video and great performing. I have both the MODX and the Korg Krome and I prefer the Krome. I know you can store your sounds in the MODX"s user banks for quick switching but I noticed that you change sounds very quickly in the Krome. Could you please tell us how? Thanks
Hey man, would you mind sharing why you prefer krome over modx?
THANKS. CONGRATULATIONS .
Just bought my fa 08 and soon on my way to krome 88 ❤️🙏🏽
I like the MODX, sounds deep, I'm slightly opinionated because I'm deaf in on ear and mono seems easier to handle on the Yamaha than my Korg, would like to know what you think about the 3 different mfr's and their customer service/support, forums, tutorials, etc.
Earned a sub. +like! Thank you!
Just goes to show. Having a very large sample memory (Korg) doesn't necessarily create a better result.
Have you ever tried a krome88? I would like to know how its keybed feels compared to others
Keybed feels heaven
@@sachindevgir at the end i decided to go for the yamaha modx8. Im enjoying it a lot so far. Hope im not missing much by not chosing the krome88
@@Julionp u tell which one is better krome or modx, because I hv only played krome though I cannot make difference that which one is better
Which is fantom???
How can I have three of these machines at the same time too? c(:
Multiple setup
I always think the Yamaha sounds better.. But not easy for performing live.. The impression I get is the Fa is hands down more intuitive to use...
The Korg Krome Piano Sounds Awesome
Love the sound of the Modx
Krome ain’t getting a fair fight. It’s semi weighted while Mod and FA is weighted. With that weighted action, the piano comes out way better.
Yes of course. It's not a real fight, they are just my actual keyboards! 😉
@@synthguy7774 I also like Fa08 keybed! 😜👍
Awesome !!!
Yamaha modx sounds so much better so warm .. and I have the modx8
I've just ordered a MODX, sounds amazing.
That's why it sounds so much better so warm bcz you have it dear.....
Me to I just ordered a modx8 as well
Definitely prefer Roland.
真没想到MODX音色会比KROME好这么多,KROME这么多年看来确实老了
that's crazy just looked around and i have these 3 keyboards, even though i think the krome is the weakest out of them, I'm going to dump it for a portable organ
