Great sounding and well maintained C3. The NT1-A wins it hands down for me. They're so luxurious and provide a depth of character that delivers charm. The M5s, while certainly not bad, are brighter and produce a thinner sound, as we might expect. Would be interesting to mix the two in Reaper - Could we produce something better than the NT1-A pair alone ?

There different scales, and brands, for different purposes. The three giants on this industry. You can try any other combination from these brands. Beyond that, what I'm totally sure is that the display is instrumental on a quicker change of sounds & settings, and that weighted keys return the true feeling of playing a piano.

The piano sound of the Krome is synth-like because of the way the sound cuts off. The other two models have a natural sound cut off, so at first glance it's hard to tell if it's a synth or an acoustic piano.

I m not Shure about différences : the sound Can be changed on fa08 if you add some high fréquences in the equalizer ,and kill some middle Just a question of equalization.

if i can add my comment, it would have been better to get smaller passages, played again with the other mic to get the comparaison on the same passages, mic 2 is nearly only in strong moment + at the end but very shortly on a slow passage. And to put the name of the mic all the time in the frame, that would help. nice playing and piece, thank you for the video.

If you didn't align the capsules in the same orientation, then the comparison is flawed. The M5s should be pointing down just like the NT capsules.

Of course the MODX gains the set from the Montage the Korg gained its soumd set from the M3

A great music, but I am listening now on a good equipment (Sennheiser HD600 connected do Marantz HD-DAC 1) and I cannot find any difference between the two mics.

Yamaha ‘ Korg’’ Roland’’’

I've owned both MODX8 and Krome 61 for three years now. MODX, the pianos are a bit weak and need to have the gain turned up, which is easy to do, in order to really cut through on a gig. The strings are not as warm and thick as I would like. However, the horns are amazing, especially the tenor sax, which sounds very realistic and it has some decent Hammond organs and general synth sounds. It’s also very portable as it only weighs about 13kg. Krome, has some nice sounds but I question some of them. The organs for me, suck, very thin and synthetic compared to the MODX, the same with the acoustic guitars. It also doesn’t have that nice setlist GUI that modern workstations now have. I do like the strings and lead sounds, it also has polyphony, I’ve layered up many sounds and not heard any of them once cut out. BTW if anyone wants hear what they sound like on an album, all the keyboard sounds including horns are done with these two keyboards. ruclips.net/video/TO2UJG34Ap4/видео.html

well if my review counts for anything I must say mic 1 is absolutely phenomal!!!, I have trained ears for flat at and accuarte sound for studio work and sound system design, and was listening on on some pro IEMS and the sound quality is as about as good as it gets and sounds like a came out of a multi milion dollar studio, would be very interested on the rest of your system chain interface, and post processing and how you have the mics placed. . , have you ever used the at 2035?

This is not fair comparing 88 keys to 61

Even though I'm a Roland user, but for this comparison I'd say the ModX wins here in most of categories except for organ sound that Korg is oviously the best for decades. Anyway, nice comparison and your playing performance is awesome.

Definitely prefer Roland. I have the semi-weighted FA-07. Unless your a dedicated (classical) pianist, I wouldn’t bother with the 88 key FA-08. So much heavier too. I’ve a Kurzweil stage piano to satisfy my classical urges. So much better than either the Roland or Yammy for that purpose!

Krome ain’t getting a fair fight. It’s semi weighted while Mod and FA is weighted. With that weighted action, the piano comes out way better.
