  • In the video I make a special wool beanie for my dad.
His one Christmas wish this year was that I knit him a hat with images of his German Shepherd, Wolfryk, on it.
This project was very fun to make and I hope you enjoy the process of learning and making with me!
    Basic beanie pattern:
upper tension 6, carriage tension 7, fingering weight yarn (see below for exact yarn details)
gauge: 8.5 stitches per inch, 10 rows per inch
Cast on with waste yarn, every other needle, 161 stitches, 80 left of 0 and 81 right of 0
knit 10 rows and then knit one row with ravel cord
knit 60 rows with main color
fold brim over and place every live stitch from cast on of main color on to un-worked needles
knit one row to seam together the brim
if using punch card, add it now and set the machine up to knit in two colors, add your second color
knit pattern, if less than 50 rows, end pattern and knit stockinette until 50 rows achieved
cast off live stitches on to knitting needles and begin to knit in the round
    (K3, K2TOG) for 3 rows
(K1, K2 TOG) until 9 stitches or so remain in the round
    cut a long tail
using the tail, weave tail on to live stitches to secure them and pull the loop closed
weave in end and secure yarn
seam up the remainder of the side of the beanie
weave in and secure all yarn tails
    wash and block project

    3. 1 punch card device for knitting machines
    4. circular knitting needles size 3.0mm
