Hey guys, my main IG account got compromised and disabled, so if you wanna show some love and check out my new main account @hallofbirds, that would be awesome. Thanks for all the support here on YT and over on Instagram, it really means a lot.
Finally a s20/ultra in the hands of someone who knows how to utilize it to its full potential. So funny how almost all the other reviewers compare smartphone cameras only based on the jpeg point and shoot images they take. Go into pro mode and really test the lenses/camera before writing/making a review.
Many thanks! I just try to get the most out of what I have. 🙂
@@BrentHall btw, subscribed! Looking forward to learning more ways to utilize my s20 Ultras camera! Thanks again!
Not all tech reviewers are photographers and not all photographers are tech reviewers. You can't really blame for tech reviewers representing the average user/tech enthusiast
@@Unborn8436 Right, that's just it. Most people will just do point and shoot.
@@Unborn8436 then normal people who's not into photography shouldn't buy this phone because this phone is for those who's smart enough to utilize a very good camera. 🙄
Wow, I can't believe I forgot the metering modes! MY bad you guys...here's a quick explanation:
Center weighted: This is where the camera only meters the light from the center and immediate surrounding area of the image. Better for back-lit subjects like portraits with the sun behind them.
Matrix metering: This is the most common and usually default. It's where the camera meters off the light from the entire image.
Spot metering: This is where the camera only evaluates a small spot of light, wherever you select it, and ignores the rest of the image. this is good for really small subjects in very back-lit conditions.
Also, let me know if you want an actual video on just metering modes and if I get enough interest I'll make one.
Yeah please make a video on metering! Thanks
I second that!
Yes please!
Yes
So sad i cannot afford that s20 +/ultra how sad
Man, keep these type of videos coming. Super fun to watch! You do it the best!
Thanks man, I appreciate that!
I come from a Huawei P9 plus that gave me a great deal of satisfaction but I just moved on to a Galaxy Note 20. Thank you, thank you, thank you...exactly what I was looking for in a tutorial for the Note camera. There are times when you need to take a quick shot, but there are many times when I want a posed, carefully constructed photo and the pro mode allows me to do it. Of course, a mirrorless Sony does so much more, but when you're taking a walk with your dog and you by chance come upon something worth snapping, the mirrorless isn't practical for me or just impossible to always have around. The Galaxy is my substitute for those times when I don't have a mirrorless with me. Again, thank you.
You're welcome, I'm glad the video helped! And I definitely agree, it's so nice to be able to take the phone instead of a big camera sometimes, and know that you can still get good images.
Thanks as always for the videos, got the software update and a separate camera app update and it has helped a lot with autofocus I agree
Brent, you have a very natural and genuine way of teaching photography. It makes your videos so enjoyable to watch. Thanks for all the Mobile photography videos! I am currently using S20 Ultra, so love these videos.
Hey thank you so much, that really means a lot!
Great tutor... finaly found this channel, just bought S20 Ultra 3months ago and not utilized enough with superb S20 Ultra camera yet
Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it!
This is the best photography tutorial I've ever watched on RUclips. Thumbs up man
Wow, thanks man, I really appreciate that, and I'm glad it helped!
I just got my SN20U and watching your video made me feel so excited for my phone ❤
Hey that's awesome, I'm glad my video helped! :)
I loved watching this! Finally a photography explanation I can understand 👌🏼
Many thanks, I'm glad it helped!
Thanks for the video! Learned how to control focus for those nature closeups which was my purpose for looking vids up, and learned something unexpected and sooo useful.. "Capture" voice mode! With some ongoing thumb function issues, this will save me a lot of over-use of my thumbs!!
You're welcome, I'm glad it helped!
So cool to watch this on my own s20 ultra so i can use these tips
Hi Brent, I have installed the FilMiC Pro recently to my iPhone since it doesn’t come with Pro video like your Samsung galaxy s20 does. And it’s been really hard for me to take a video in low light while light emitting from the window. The hardest part is, I’m not been able to focus on both “inside the room” while focusing the subject “outside the window”. I really need a help on that part. So please help me with that bud.
YESSS! Thank you so much for doing this
You bet man, thanks for watching!
Thank you very much. Very thoroughly explained!
I subbed to you after watching the s20 ultra pictures of the milky way, awesome unique content, most probably the best and most versatile mobile camera out there
Hey thank you, I appreciate that!
So informative, thank you. I have been curious about these features and this was pretty comprehensive.
You're welcome, I'm glad it helped!
I always use Pro mode even for snapshots. I want to look them as natural as they appear to eyes. I have yet to use a high end smartphone. I am still using Samsung Note 5 camera.
Thanks Brent, great details and clarity. Kudos!
Sure thing man, thanks for watching!
I have this phone since Monday and did not know how to use the pro mode. You explained it very clear. Thanks
You're welcome, I'm glad the video helped!
Great video as always Brent i didn't know about the manual focus blur I learned something new, this may sound like a silly question but can you substitute the live focus feature for background blur with the manual focus in pro mode?
Using show palm to capture selfies works well as an alternative to voice capture !
Love your videos man! Keep them coming
Hey thanks Daniel, I really appreciate that!
Yep. Some times the voice capture does not work. Great stuff man. Just what I needed. I'm subbing to learn more from you. Easy to follow guide. Nice voice and not overly excited! Thank you for sharing 👍😊🤝🙏
Another great detailed video. Thanks
nice sharing bro, thanks and good luck for next video
Good Work Brother..thank you
Stumbled across you looking for tutorials for cannon I recently purchased. Thank you Brent for the instructions on use of Samsung as what I always thought was possible with my camera app you have shown me how to achieve my goals. I have the S10 which has all the same features but perhaps not as broad as the S20. I do a lot of hiking etc and I really don't want to add to my gear. Going to return the cannon eos I just purchased because I hadn't been able to find info previously as to how to take the star trails and silky water shots you describe here.
Hey, glad I could help! I do have tutorials on how to do star trails with regular cameras too, and a lot of other general photography tutorials as well, if you decide to keep your dslr.
WOW. This is a masterclass. Just got an S20 and defnitly gonna try to improve my skills in photo. Thanks for this video.
Hey thanks man, I'm glad it helped!
Bruh...as someone that doesn't know shit about cameras this video was soooooooo helpful. So solid man. Definitely gonna check out your other camera vids. Now looking more forward to using this s20 plus camera!
Hey thanks man, I really appreciate that, and I'm glad the video helped!
Great video Brent, I just got the Note 20 Ultra!
Excellent! Thank u for sharing! 👌
U r an absolute Pro in this Pro mode video.. u just clarified my blurrs.. thankuu.. and BTW subscribed.. m a fan already
Hey thanks man, I appreciate that! I'm glad I could help.
Brent!! Really thank you, I bought this phone, I knew it had a good camera but I didn't know it had this mode (not that there is a detailed instruction manual on the phone either). Really thank you, thank you! Greetings from Chile!
You bet man, I'm glad I could help!
Awesome tutorial. I just purchased a Galaxy S20 FE 5G since my Galaxy J7 V was going a bit wonky. Your vid helped me a lot by filtering the tinkering time out. I majored in photography late 70s in college. Eventually had my own studio and dark room. Burning and dodging and contrast filters. Developed medium format color too. Once digital started coming out we all laughed. Pixel quality was horrible. So we believed digital would go the way of buggy whips. Now I have some $1700 in photography equipment in storage. If the 3 eyed monster camera only uses 1 eye, what are the other 2 for? Looks I guess.
The main sensor also has a 64 megapixel high resolution output in auto mode. Does RAW mode utilize the 64 mp ?
We appreciate your help thank you 🙏🏻
Watching this and had no idea you were here till I heard NEW MEXICO!! woot woot
NM is the best...😃😁
The best Camera tutorial I've ran across for this AOs New to Samsung and I'm trying to master cinematic video making..so a big help with the pro details..thanks ma dude
Oh wow, thanks man, I appreciate that! I'm glad the video helped.
i love your photographics & your cool describing...
Thank you, that means a lot! 😃🙏
Thank you for the video. You talk pretty fast but you are very concise. I could see someone without a background in photography getting overwhelmed by this but I found this extremely helpful. I just subscribed and I will be checking out your other videos. Take care and be safe.
Thanks man, I'm glad it helped! Also I'm pretty sure that's the first time anyone has said my videos were concise, lol. But I'll take it. :P
Super thank you
Hi. Do you know where is the aperture (example: F1.5 )of pro cam samsung s20?

You're welcome, I'm glad it helped!
Thanks a lot for another incredible video!

Thanks man, I'm glad I could help!
So helpful! Thank you!
You're welcome, I'm glad it helped!
Thanks for the share bud. Appreciate your time greatly
You bet man, I hope it helped!
How do you get all the sliders on screen at once on the standard option?
When I shoot in the 4 by 3 aspect ratio in Pro mode the photo information says it is shooting in 12 mp. I have raw copies turned on. Can I get full 108 megapixel resolution in the Pro mode? I have the s21 ultra. Thanks.
Hi Brent
Is it possible to click galaxy photography using samsung s20 (not s20+ or s20 ultra)?
Great video, thanks! Very informative 😃
Glad you enjoyed it!
In my Samsung s20 fe pro mode camera there's not an option for auto focus or infinity focus it's just manual, multi and centre.. How can I focus infinity?
WOW! Tons of info!! Thanks!
You bet man, glad I could help!
Very informative tutorial - thanks!
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Are you able to set the white balance to a custom one using a white balance card?
Very helpful. Many thanks from Atlantic Canada
Whenever im in normal photo mode the whole picture is in focus, but when im in pro mode (regardless of if i use multi or centre focus options) the whole photo is never in focus (the middle area generally is but the sides usually arent. Do you know how i can get the whole photo in focus in pro mode?

Many thanks, I really appreciate that!
Thank you so so much! Very helpful 👌
You're welcome Crystal, thanks for watching!
Thank you for the info
Questions:
When entering "Pro" mode, I see only "W" and "UW" lenses options.
So no "Pro" mode for the primary or telefoto lense?
Also, what is a good cradle to use on tripod for the S20 + with cover on it?
Lastly, what is that filter you were pointing at that made the whole scene brighter? Was that for the S20+ or the camera you were recording with?
Thanks again
Hey, Brent, my name is Brent also. I'm pretty new to photography and I stumbled across your video and I tell you this is one of the best explanations I've seen so I'm definitely subscribing to your channel as of today
Isn't a little bit cool, and a little bit awkward when you have an uncommon name and meet someone else with the same name?! lol I'm glad my videos are helping though, and I appreciate the kind words, and the sub!
@@BrentHall I love Astronomy,, and that video of you getting a picture of the Milky Way was astonishing... I didn't know a phone could do that.. I have a Note 9 so the explanation on how to use the Pro feature comes in handy.. Funny thing is, I never knew the camera had a pro version,,lol. Anyway keep up the good work and may God bless
Awesome video man helped me out greatly 👍🏿
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
Great explanation of how to use the S20 Ultra cam. Thanks...

W mountain! I know where this is! thought i recognized it! I grew up out at Cliff
Nice! Small world huh. :P
Can I ask, if u want to take pics of festivals and ppl that dress up in costumes, this close to Halloween, how would you capture the 👌 kinds of pics?
Please upload a video about blending the Raw images and also hyperlapse
Excellent video. I have definitely saved this video. Just one point of helpfulness. Add breaks in the video for each different function and draw it out to about 1-2 minutes per segment
Can you try Google Camera's manual mode in this phone??
Helpful & informative video
Thank you
You're welcome! :)

You really explained it well. Thanks. But where can I adjust the aperture on the s20? It's not there where it is on the older phones?
Thanks! You can't adjust the aperture on the s20 as far as I know.

THANKS MY MAN
Sure thing, thanks for watching!
Wow thanks great video.. have you done star trails on the s20? Would love to see how you do it etc..thanks so much.
First time watching and now a subscribing.
I haven't done star trails with the S20 yet, but I might here pretty soon.
THIS is a GREAT How To video to show Users the advantages of using Pro Mode!
I shoot with the Nikon D7000 (Manual Mode ONLY!) on the regular.
Oddly enough, if it hadn't been for my Galaxy S9, my desire to recreate a nighttime long exposure traffic shot I saw on a computer screensaver back in May 2019, I'd have NEVER learned the fundamentals of photography and shooting in Manual Mode!
I can't believe the S20 is 30" Shutter Speed-capable!
Even with the 10" shutter speed, I can grab KILLER Night Long Exposure shots!
Your S20 Astrophotography shot is BUTTER!
You do killer work Bro, consider me SUBSCRIBED!
Hey thanks man, I really appreciate that!
@@BrentHall You're Welcome! Your explanation has thus far been the EASIEST I've heard, of how The ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speeds work!
IF only You taught this May 2019, how much more would my current progression have grown?...🤔😂👍
Awesome videos like always!!!!
Many thanks!
@@BrentHall I want too ask you a question as professional photography you think the Samsung phones cameras can compete with the Iphones and Google cameras? allot RUclipsrs reviews they think Samsung phones camera not good as IPhone Google ecc... I noticed you only used Samsung phones as professional photographer what is your thoughts about Samsung phones cameras!!!! Thank you
is it possible to take starburst photo (sunstar in day light)? because it doesn't have variable aperture. could you please guide
no, the phone's definitely can't do that, at least no like a regular dslr or mnirrorless camera and lens can.
Very helpful thanks
You bet man, I'm glad it helped!
@@BrentHall I just found you on Instagram as well, great pics! I'm @Hover_Labs. I'm a bit new to photography but working on it, best of luck!
Which max. Zoom does the s20+ have in pro mode, cant find any results anywhere
When i shoot in pro mode, raw pictures are having red dots , any idea how to fix this?
Korea Samsung Fighting👍
Samsung ilove you❤❤❤
🗣❤️ Shoutout to all Kdrama/Kpop addicts out there.
can you do live view focus video in 4k in pro mode?
Great ultra content as usual
Many thanks Phillip!
Hey, thanks for the video. I have the tele and wide angle Moment lens from my old Pixel 2. I now have an S20+. Is it worth getting a new case so I can use my Moment lens on my S20 since I've got a wide angle and tele in the phone? Thanks again, love your straight forward tutorials.
I think it's worth it if you like to shoot in pro mode, either stills or video, since pro mode only allows you to use the main lens. Also, and this is debatable, but the main sensor is usually the better quality one for most phones these days, so throwing the moment lenses on the main sensor can arguably give you possibly slightly better results, though whether the price is worth it you for those benefits is up to you.
Great information, thanks for this! Is there a way to shoot burst shots on timer?
You're welcome, I'm glad it helped. I don't know know of a way to do that though.
Im new to Samsung S family. Thanks for this useful video
You're welcome, I'm glad you liked the video!
