I have s8 and thought it would be different then s10. But its all the same. One thing i wish is that they up the shutter speed to 15 or 20 seconds for better milky way shots
The S10 does have a night mode of sorts , if the sensor detect low light it will take i think 7 shots hand held and 15 on a tripod and combine them. Nobody seems to mention it in reviews, they just concentrate on point and shoot software night modes of the Pixel and Huawei phones which just make the shots look as if they were taken in daylight. If i take a night shot i want it to actually look like it was night.
i reallllly hope that promised camera update comes soon. I guess Brent showed us that it can actually take pictures of the stars. So if Samsung introduces a real-deal night mode with algorithm software it might be a real nice camera in 'normal' low light conditions (for such an allround phone).

Hey, when i compare my pictures of pro and normal mode. The normal mode pictures has way more crisp and sharpness while that of pro are slightly blurry. How do i fix that ?
That's because Samsung adds a lot of contrast, saturation, and sharpening to the images when it compresses them to jpeg. Pro mode gives you the option of shooting in raw, which is all the data from the sensor with no editing or compression. I have a video about it, raw vs jpeg. You can add the sharpening to your raw images in whatever editing app or program you use.

I've learned a lot about the pro mode on s10. Thanks for the great video! By the way, what do you mean "10 stop ND and a CP" for the long exposure photos
You need to buy a 62mm filter adapter first. Then buy 62mm, 10 Stop variable (Neutral Density) ND filter &/or (Circular Polarizing) CP filter. The filters basically control the amount of bright light coming in, thus creating a smoother image with the motion blurs you want in slow shutter speed waterfall images.
The ND and CPs are filters, neutral density and circular polarizers. I use them when I need long exposures during the day time for things like waterfalls and light trails and blurring people out of busy city scenes. I have a number of videos explaining what they are and how they work, and some other videos on how/why/when to use filters specifically with smartphones. There are some filters that fit over moment lenses, which like Garrett said, you need an adapter for, but there are other ones that just clip on over your phone's lens. This is a very helpful video. I switched from Huawei to Samsung because of the issue going on(Had no choice). I got used to the things that Huawei has in their pro mode. BTW, what do you mean by ND and CP?
It really depends on the scene. The lights can fluctuate and move quite quickly so it makes longer exposures harder because you can blur them out if your shutter speed is too long. On the downside, it's still night, and usually quite dark out, so you might want/have to crank up your iso if you want a proper exposure.
Great. I am close to start my channel and everything will be made wity my S10+ 😁 I've got my ND filters - missing ND1000. Now I wanna ask you - with wide lens is impossible to take photos when I'm using my ND filters. The main reason is - I am using 37mm filters and even I buy an extension from 37 - 46mm in my picture appears a shadow from my frame clips
Omg, thank you so much. This video did a LOT to make me understand my camera better :) The only thing I wonder about is how to save pictures as a raw, when I use pro mode it still gives me jpgs?
You have to enable the save as raw option, then it will save jpegs and raws. Weirdly though, if you have an sd card in and have your images save to there, it will only put the jpegs there and then it puts the raws on the DCIM folder on your internal storage. There's no way to change this that I know.
Great video as always. Question. I could swear before I updated my note 9 that the video also had pro mode. Am I right in thinking this? Also have you heard if filmic pro and movi freefly are ever going to be compatible?
Yeah, the Pie Update dropped the pro mode video options in all galaxy phones, so if you have a galaxy phone with pie then you no longer have that option. It sucks. I did a video about it. I don't know about their compatibility. I do know that Samsung has opened up their SDK for 3rd party apps to have access to now (with the S10/+) but it will be up to the app devs if they move forward with making those options available in their apps. It would be really great if we could get access to higher frame rates to do slow motion in Filmic Pro and the Moment apps. We'll see I guess.
Ok I'm not crazy then. Totally agree on the filmic and moment apps. I can honestly say if Samsung doesnt start becoming more user friendly to 3rd part apps I'm jumping over to apple. I'm spending alot of money on a hobbie and can only use 75% of my tools because of that no 3rd party access. I did see on my filmic app that it says " be patient a major update is coming soon." So maybe that's it.
Thanks for the video, it was definitely useful. I have a specific question about taking pictures of erupting volcano at night (from distance / from a neighbouring volcano) What settings would you recommend? Thanks
You're welcome, I'm glad it helped! I couldn't give you any specific settings to try without being there and trying it out though. every scene is different. If it's at night then you'll probably want to increase your shutter speed first, and then if that's not enough, start raising your iso.

To be honest I have never used the pro mode properly even now I am using S20 Ultra thank you so much for making this video I have learned a lot from this. Would you pls give some tips shooting shutter speed at the fall on the Samsung S20 series?
Still thinks iPhone is good? Pfff
Iphone is my Foot 😡🖐️
5 years I came back to say yes iPhone is doing much better
Another great choice for manual mode is LG flagships. Samsung phones are so featured packed as well.
Yeah, they have some great manual controls and some very nice cameras. I'd love to try one someday.
Hey bud, lose the rings. Distracting when you're pointing to something and all I notice is this big blurry silver dragon.
Good informative video though!!
Great value in this video. I just purchased the lower model s10e and will have to see if I have all of the same functionality. I'm excited to do some smart phone photography.
Great Video thanks so much for helping me get the best out of my S10 Camera
You bet man, glad I could help!
I'm gonna have to start from the beginning like a samsung pro for dummies before I jump into all this cool stuff!
Best tutorial so far
Fantastic video thanks! I've had my Samsung for 6 months and had no idea that it had pro - mode. Have you ever used the lens wide and tele attachments sold on amazon etc?
Thanks man, I'm glad the video helped! I've used the Moment lenses (I've made many videos about them), but haven't tried any of the cheaper lenses.
Hi and thanks for the great tutorial. I have the s10 plus and will be trying these great functions out for myself. Thanks again for posting
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Since i watchd this video i try to using pro mode..thank you🙏🙏
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Thank you for this info. I'm glad i got the thought to think of how I can take the time to learn to make the best use of this definitely cool phone.
You're welcome Susan, I'm glad my video helped!@
Thank you so much for the video. Can you please share some tips on like how to use S10 for normal pictures. My pics are kind of blurry most of the times
Nice video man. Good stuff. Good info and right to the point.
The pro mode was actually really helpful
Wish they would bring back Dual Camera mode. Very useful for instructional videos.
Thanks for sharing that info..... for a moment I thought that you had said there wasn't any Pro mode ... Then I realized that was about shooting with video .... Duhhh ... guess I need to wake up here .... been up sense 4:00 this morning ..... Thanks again .... Shirlene
Sleep deprivation is no joke!😴😜
@@BrentHall ..... Yep got that right .... LOL
This is a very helpful video. I switched from Huawei to Samsung because of the issue going on(Had no choice). I got used to the things that Huawei has in their pro mode. BTW, what do you mean by ND and CP?
What type (brand) of tripod and adapter are you using? Excellent information!
I use a Ulanzi. All the gear I use ( including that) is listed in the video description.
Great Video.
What settings would you put for taking photos of The Northern Lights?
It really depends on the scene. The lights can fluctuate and move quite quickly so it makes longer exposures harder because you can blur them out if your shutter speed is too long. On the downside, it's still night, and usually quite dark out, so you might want/have to crank up your iso if you want a proper exposure.
Great tips thanks Brent. Greetings from Costa Rica. Pura vida!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video!
I like this one
I really want to know about pro mode and i got you.
Thanks
You got new subscriber
Thanks man, I appreciate that!
Great. I am close to start my channel and everything will be made wity my S10+ 😁 I've got my ND filters - missing ND1000. Now I wanna ask you - with wide lens is impossible to take photos when I'm using my ND filters. The main reason is - I am using 37mm filters and even I buy an extension from 37 - 46mm in my picture appears a shadow from my frame clips
it helped me a lot, thanks.
Is almost the same on my Samsung s6. Very cool
Glad I could help, thanks for watching!
Nice video. Is there a way to take a photo shot in recorded video
Very Good video! Thanks for the guide man! 😊😊😊
You bet, thanks for watching!
Omg, thank you so much. This video did a LOT to make me understand my camera better :)
The only thing I wonder about is how to save pictures as a raw, when I use pro mode it still gives me jpgs?
You have to enable the save as raw option, then it will save jpegs and raws. Weirdly though, if you have an sd card in and have your images save to there, it will only put the jpegs there and then it puts the raws on the DCIM folder on your internal storage. There's no way to change this that I know.
Man you're the shit .. So Easily explained even for my old ass Gma... I got this in one view .. Rock on✌✌✌✌✌
Thanks man, I'm glad I could help!
Hey, i really like Your phone camera tutorials.
Keep up Your great work!
Hey thanks man, I really appreciate that!
Hi..could you make a video on how to shot a perfect picture in low light or night time using a s10plus. Thank you
How did you setup your tripad and the grip to attouch your phone? I badly need your expertise. Thank you!
