mate, thanks to you I saved my youngers brother's laptop. At step 2, I opened the backpanel and found a improvised piecie of cardboard under the ssd which should have held the ssd in place. reseated the ssd and this resolved the issue. great advise, keep up the good work!
Hello Jamie I have viewed your U TUBE clips with interest. I found your narrative clear and easy to follow. Unlike other clips from the sub continent which are to fast and unclear with noisy background. I have ACER 4810T laptop with a Legacy Insyde H20 bios ver 1.28. 4 GB known good memory from another laptop and responses are no different from original ram memory. Its an older model but has functioned quite well for its intended use and has an optical drive unlike my newer Lenovo Have been trying to load win 10 MCT OS via USB onto a new 500gb new Toshiba HDD. Loads onto HDD and is visible when viewed as an extra drive on my Lenovo but not on the Acer. The Acer has a good cmos battery . When unclipped left for a few hours ,reset time , maintains time well when periodly checked The BIOS seems to freeze on F2 on booting as if there is a cache memory somewhere and when fn key pressed, slowly opens into bios then I get a mixed bag of responses from nil-painfully slow to rapid fast then appears to settle into a slowish pattern that I can work with. Tried the Alt and F10 function only get a glimpse of Bios details but in that 2 second flash nothing seems to stand out. Bios is the same as original ver 1.28 Have removed battery and mouse with only USB stick and internet cable attached. Tried all three USB ports all being the same When leaving the USB stick with win 10 MCT inserted after a few hours I get the orange and white error page. Have tried both USB device locations in bios as first boot. No difference. Have tried loading fresh WIN 10 MCT on another brand usb stick with same results HISTORY----Original win 7 os with 250gb hdd had a crisis when my wife pulled a usb stick with photos whilst an active video was on screen---lost everything on HDD.. subsequently loaded win 10 1909 onto HDD OK but no sound with a red cross on speaker. OK could live with no sound but when going through process to upgrade to latest win 10 had a host of problems. Continues now. Q Do you think that the BIOS is going through a troubleshooting phase looping. Q Can I unmount the OS install something like a dos program to repair or ascertain the problem ..Fixable ??? or do I have a brick Look forward to hearing from you. You jumped over the very important part for the rest of the things you say to make sense.. As the BIOS shows that it does detect your HDD with both Model Name and Serial. That should be the first thing to say. Cause none tech savy people might not think that is the problem and continue on with the other solutions even though none of them would work, when the HDD model isn't even found in the BIOS..
Good video. Have you ever seen the situation where the built in hd is listed in the bios (at 0) and then 1 and 2 are blank? I can't remember if the default was 2 drives detected or not. Mine is still under warranty so I'm sending it to Acer before I void the warranty cracking the case to see if the ssd is seated right.
Thank you. I gave up after trying everything then I realized I still had my Bluetooth mouse plugged in. Turns out that computer was trying to boot off mouse Bluetooth. I overlooked that. After I unplugged Bluetooth it works fine. Cheers.
so I have an ssd from my other laptop which is new and running well. i tried installing it in my acer spin 3 and every time i boot up it says " no bootable device found". went into bios and i cant find any options under "boot". went into security and there's nothing i can change to show me UEFI/ legacy anywhere in my bios. at this point, i'm not sure if my bios needs a upgrade. I'm switching from a lagging/tired hdd on my spin 3 to the ssd that already has windows 10 and runs fine on my other laptop. any help is appreciated.
Hi, I have an Acer spin laptop. After downloading and installing windows 10, most of the drivers such as USB, wireless network, touchpad disappeared from my laptop. There is no recovery point. Tried to install Windows 10, still no drivers. Removed SSD card and installed the drivers manually using another computer but all in vain. Also, can not access BIOS, gets just a blank window. It doesnt detect my HDD anymore i keel putting it back and it keeps saying no bootable device in bios it does detect my SSD that I put in could i damage something with the HDD connector when I opened the lid of the laptop ? Yes, something could have been damaged but if all you were doing was installing a new drive, its unlikely something was damaged just doing that. Double check that the HDD connector is secure and the drive is secure as well. Did you try a new install of an operating system after installing the new drive?
having the same problem with my HDD (Old Memory) its not the ribbon cables because it works, and its no the HDD because it works but for some odd reason when i put the screws back on, it would reset and all of a sudden it couldn't read HDD memory no where to be found not even in Bios menu, Even when i did it with only the lid on without turning it on it doesn't detect HDD either way, Trying to find a solution to this problem. I just ordered a seagate 1T internal hardrive and it is not registering in my acer nitro 5. everything fits and connects as its supposed to. But under the storage setting there is nothing listed any suggestions?
i guess you all cannot repair my acer swift 3. the boot menu in bios are missing. hdd detected, but all option on boot menu are empty. and it can't be booting (no bootable device). And the all USB port cannot detected too.

I spilt tea on my laptop months back. It would turn on fine just said no bookable device. After putting in a USB with a bootable device we still had the same problem. After opening the laptop there was no hard drive inside. I haven't opened the laptop since I bought it. How in the hell has it been working before with no hard drive inside? I have an Acer Aspire A315 56 laptop. Windows 10 is working fine on it with 1TB HDD. However, while trying Ubuntu Linux installation (dual boot with W10), the installer does not detect the Internal HDD. BIOS detects it and SATA mode is on AHCI. Can you help on that please. Thanks in advance.

I installed a SSD and loaded Kubuntu. It seems to work fine for a couple reboots and then it vanishes. The SSD is not shown in the bios. The changes didn't make a difference. AARRGGG! Oh I reinstalled and it did the same thing. The computer may be too old?? ZC-102 all in one.

Wonder if you can give me a hint. I have a Gateway NV73A laptop, has an msata drive besides a regular SSD. Windows 10 installed wont see msata disc. Gateway website is practically dead for updating drivers.. Going to try Acer - problaby with little success.. any ideas on what I can try ? Also not seen in Bios. I imagine its a missing driver. But I might need more advise in regards of my problem: the SSD is as often as not for the last couple of months is goes between detected and not detected in BIOS. Considering I never opened the case, should I look for SSD replacement or another solution? My laptop in question is Acer Aspire Vero AV1551, with NVMe Kingston OM8PDP3512B-AA1 for SSD. Hi, I recently added 128gb ssd to my acer e5 575RM laptop,, and moved to os to ssd and along with my old 1 TB hdd, everything was now, but today when I tried to access the H drive which was part of my 1 TB hdd, computer freezed, so closed the process and after that I am not seeing my hdd in anywhere, I have check in bios its not visible,, I have tried removing and inserting it it again, not working, I tried to install windows from my pen drive but its not shown there, Please help as I am having my project related data in that drive, ;)
Dear PC Monkey, May I ask you for some advice please. I have an older Acer 7600GT Desktop Computer running Win7 Home Premium 32-Bit. It presently works using my IDE 400Gb C: Drive (plugged into the IDE master connector on the round cable and then into the prime socket on the Acer's Motherboard (there are two IDE sockets - one is coloured blue which I believe is for ensuring that this means that IDE is the C: Drive). The Drive is as a master with my LG Dvd Rom Recorder set as the slave in the IDE round cable. I have installed over 30 programmes and this setup is working at the moment. I have now tonight connected one of the two SATA socket cables to a SATA Data Drive. The Sata Drive duly appears in the Bios list (master - there is no slave listing) but the Data Drive does NOT appear in Windows Explorer? The Data drive does not have any OS installed within it. I have tried this with two Sata Drives and with both of the two Sata sockets on the motherboard but with no result. In past days, I used to run the Acer using a 1Tb Sata Drive as the master but things went wrong and I had messages about Boot Manager being missing also CD/Dvd Device Driver being required on attempting re-installations of Win7. On WinXP, his does not happen. I have another Acer 7700GX running either WinXP or Win7. Thank you for any possible help, Victor (UK) 3rd May 2023.

I have the same problem with my Acer Aspire desktop. One night before bed I ran a defrag scan and when I woke up the next morning, the computer was still on, so I didn't give it another thought. Later that day I tried to look something up and it was frozen, so I rebooted it the hard way and when It loaded up it froze right on the desktop, so I rebooted it again and went into the bios settings, there it tells me there is no hard drive found. I was wondering if there was anyway I can fix this without replacing the hard drive because I have real important documents and music on that drive that I've been working on that I need to get off it. I have since bought a mini PC to tide me over somewhat to do what I have to do online until I get a better replacement or fix my old one. Please reply, this was 6 months ago.

Please help me, PC Monkey. I changed my old HDD to a new one and it's an SSD. The new SSD reads on the INFORMATION tab. But on the BIOS tab, the SSD does not show on the boot priority order. It only shows the bootable drive that i just made. I tried changing it to legacy but on the boot mode, it only has the UEFI option and I can't change it. I already tried disabling secure boot but it still does not show up on boot priority. Please help me.

Great video, but...I tried changing my BIOS option to legacy on the boot page, but then get a PXE MOF error. I'm able to get to my hard drive on my Acer Aspire E5 and have tried to reseat, but get a loud ticking/clicking noise when I do so. Is it toast?

Thank you for making this video, very informative! After following your instructions, I noticed in my BIOS under Boot, there are only two lines. Secure Boot [Enabled] and Boot Priority Order. Nothing happened in between. I haven't found a way to the Recovery/Repair screen. I have tried pressing ALT+F10 while turning on but nothing came up. Is there any other way? Is your computer like this? ruclips.net/video/jQE43lY2DCk/видео.html If so, the 'hard drive' is integrated into your motherboard and cannot be separated. You would have to replace the motherboard in order to replace the drive.
If a HDD has 'crashed' in error but is overall healthy, then it should be able to start up again. If its gone bad and is no longer healthy then it would have to be repalced. Also, the DATA on it most likely is bad too

hi, I have acer laptop aspire 5, the situation was, I slept and forgot my laptop to shutdown while having transfer photos from my cellphone to disk d, and when I woke up the laptop says, critical battery, so I immediately charge it. After I plug the charger, I open it and it took to long to open prolly because it was drained, but after 5 mins it opens.. And then when I access the disk D to check my transferred photos I cannot access it, It was lagging... And Then I Immediately restart the laptop, but when it was loading it says need a repair disk so I waited stage 1... And After I took a bath, I saw my laptop finished the stage 1 but with blank screen so I did restart it again and when it opens and check for the Disk D, nothings change its still lagging, I cant access any folder .. :( please help me. This happened to me. I did everything and when all the steps aren't working, I tried opening my laptop and reseated the HDD. I did it like 10 times. On the tenth try, my laptop worked.

You could be looking at a bad HDD. I would replace it and try the install on the new one. Let me know if you would like assistance with that operation :)
@@PC_Monkey. Am trying to install the OEM recovery to a drive, diskpart. Formats and able to set active, I did however make sure to convert the drove to GPT before formatting ft=ntfs

I'm afraid to put new disk in potentially malfunctioning motherboard and I'm afraid to put potentially malfunctioning m2 ssd into my pc. Try unplugging the HDD and then plugging it back in. Sometimes the connection just needs to be corrected / refreshed. That work? If not, have you tried the steps seen here in BIOS?
I tried all the steps even went through all your tutorials hopping to get it fixed but no luck The difficult part is also to get it to legacy I fail to do that too

a315-42 user here and it's crappy AF. i dropped my phone on it and it stopped working correctly. no hdd detected on bios. i tried reseating and even replacing with my known good spare hdd and still it can't detect it. not sure if I can still fix this.

@@PC_Monkey fixed it by disconnecting the battery and reseating cmos battery. never really encountered a bios issue in the past. i cant find the jumper on a tiny laptop motherboard so reseating cmos batt is easier. im a follower of your channel, btw because i find solutions here, i mean real solutions.

They've n'been messing with me for 6 months and I have no clue what the terrible possibilities they have done. My phone computer probably my modem. A;l my accounts. I don't even know what's is real and not real anymore. I do know there's several of them and they are using something like Microsoft azure. PowerShell. I've tried going somewhere else to use a different computer in library and for 4 hours I got nothing done everything I tried was denied. From Microsoft customer support to down;loading to USB to even printing. Im not crazy this is really happening. Anyway I can't beat them. I don't know what to do anymore

@@benceydavid1194 Ok im sorry. I didnt actually view it before sending you the link. Yes, that HDD appears to actually be an eMMC drive and its integrated into the motherboard. It cannot be easily separated from the motherboard.

@@dakuloh8549 There are several reasons why a computer wont boot up. Some are a BIOS issue, HDD issue, OS issue, etc. This video shows you how to see if its a BIOS issue. Have you tried the steps seen here yet?
having the same problem with my HDD (Old Memory) its not the ribbon cables because it works, and its no the HDD because it works but for some odd reason when i put the screws back on, it would reset and all of a sudden it couldn't read HDD memory no where to be found not even in Bios menu, Even when i did it with only the lid on without turning it on it doesn't detect HDD either way, Trying to find a solution to this problem. Maybe because fast boot is on? I have an Acer N5, but it works when i unplug the ribbon cables and plug it back in and adding the lid without screwing it in and it works....
@@PC_Monkey I found the solution by myself I have an Acer N5 gaming laptop and if you're going to install a HDD I highly don't recommend you tighting up the screws otherwise the HDD wouldn't spin, twist the screw until its tight than untight it if that make sense to all of them I hope this helps someone else or because my HDD is a bit too thicc lol
Your computer may have a eMMC drive instead of a Hard Drive. That would mean its integrated into the motherboard and cannot be easily separated. Did you try the other steps seen here?

@@michaeldonaldson6304 If the new install wont work, then your most likely looking at a bad drive which, in your case, also means a bad motherboard. The drive / motherboard would need to be replaced

mate, thanks to you I saved my youngers brother's laptop. At step 2, I opened the backpanel and found a improvised piecie of cardboard under the ssd which should have held the ssd in place. reseated the ssd and this resolved the issue. great advise, keep up the good work!

I have ACER 4810T laptop with a Legacy Insyde H20 bios ver 1.28. 4 GB known good memory from another laptop and responses are no different from original ram memory.
Its an older model but has functioned quite well for its intended use and has an optical drive unlike my newer Lenovo
Have been trying to load win 10 MCT OS via USB onto a new 500gb new Toshiba HDD. Loads onto HDD and is visible when viewed as an extra drive on my Lenovo but not on the Acer.
The Acer has a good cmos battery . When unclipped left for a few hours ,reset time , maintains time well when periodly checked
The BIOS seems to freeze on F2 on booting as if there is a cache memory somewhere and when fn key pressed, slowly opens into bios then I get a mixed bag of responses from nil-painfully slow to rapid fast then appears to settle into a slowish pattern that I can work with. Tried the Alt and F10 function only get a glimpse of Bios details but in that 2 second flash nothing seems to stand out. Bios is the same as original ver 1.28
Have removed battery and mouse with only USB stick and internet cable attached. Tried all three USB ports all being the same
When leaving the USB stick with win 10 MCT inserted after a few hours I get the orange and white error page. Have tried both USB device locations in bios as first boot. No difference. Have tried loading fresh WIN 10 MCT on another brand usb stick with same results
HISTORY----Original win 7 os with 250gb hdd had a crisis when my wife pulled a usb stick with photos whilst an active video was on screen---lost everything on HDD.. subsequently loaded win 10 1909 onto HDD OK but no sound with a red cross on speaker. OK could live with no sound but when going through process to upgrade to latest win 10 had a host of problems. Continues now.
Q Do you think that the BIOS is going through a troubleshooting phase looping.
Q Can I unmount the OS install something like a dos program to repair or ascertain the problem ..Fixable ??? or do I have a brick

You jumped over the very important part for the rest of the things you say to make sense.. As the BIOS shows that it does detect your HDD with both Model Name and Serial. That should be the first thing to say.
Cause none tech savy people might not think that is the problem and continue on with the other solutions even though none of them would work, when the HDD model isn't even found in the BIOS..
Good video. Have you ever seen the situation where the built in hd is listed in the bios (at 0) and then 1 and 2 are blank? I can't remember if the default was 2 drives detected or not. Mine is still under warranty so I'm sending it to Acer before I void the warranty cracking the case to see if the ssd is seated right.
Thank you. I gave up after trying everything then I realized I still had my Bluetooth mouse plugged in. Turns out that computer was trying to boot off mouse Bluetooth. I overlooked that. After I unplugged Bluetooth it works fine. Cheers.

so I have an ssd from my other laptop which is new and running well. i tried installing it in my acer spin 3 and every time i boot up it says " no bootable device found".
went into bios and i cant find any options under "boot".
went into security and there's nothing i can change to show me UEFI/ legacy anywhere in my bios.
at this point, i'm not sure if my bios needs a upgrade.
I'm switching from a lagging/tired hdd on my spin 3 to the ssd that already has windows 10 and runs fine on my other laptop.

Hi, I have an Acer spin laptop. After downloading and installing windows 10, most of the drivers such as USB, wireless network, touchpad disappeared from my laptop. There is no recovery point. Tried to install Windows 10, still no drivers. Removed SSD card and installed the drivers manually using another computer but all in vain. Also, can not access BIOS, gets just a blank window. Yes, something could have been damaged but if all you were doing was installing a new drive, its unlikely something was damaged just doing that. Double check that the HDD connector is secure and the drive is secure as well. Did you try a new install of an operating system after installing the new drive?

I just ordered a seagate 1T internal hardrive and it is not registering in my acer nitro 5. everything fits and connects as its supposed to. But under the storage setting there is nothing listed

I spilt tea on my laptop months back. It would turn on fine just said no bookable device. After putting in a USB with a bootable device we still had the same problem. After opening the laptop there was no hard drive inside. I haven't opened the laptop since I bought it. How in the hell has it been working before with no hard drive inside? I installed a SSD and loaded Kubuntu. It seems to work fine for a couple reboots and then it vanishes. The SSD is not shown in the bios. The changes didn't make a difference. AARRGGG! Oh I reinstalled and it did the same thing. The computer may be too old?? ZC-102 all in one.

Wonder if you can give me a hint. I have a Gateway NV73A laptop, has an msata drive besides a regular SSD. Windows 10 installed wont see msata disc. May I ask you for some advice please. I have an older Acer 7600GT Desktop Computer running Win7 Home Premium 32-Bit. It presently works using my IDE 400Gb C: Drive (plugged into the IDE master connector on the round cable and then into the prime socket on the Acer's Motherboard (there are two IDE sockets - one is coloured blue which I believe is for ensuring that this means that IDE is the C: Drive). The Drive is as a master with my LG Dvd Rom Recorder set as the slave in the IDE round cable. I have installed over 30 programmes and this setup is working at the moment.
I have now tonight connected one of the two SATA socket cables to a SATA Data Drive. The Sata Drive duly appears in the Bios list (master - there is no slave listing) but the Data Drive does NOT appear in Windows Explorer? The Data drive does not have any OS installed within it. I have tried this with two Sata Drives and with both of the two Sata sockets on the motherboard but with no result.
In past days, I used to run the Acer using a 1Tb Sata Drive as the master but things went wrong and I had messages about Boot Manager being missing also CD/Dvd Device Driver being required on attempting re-installations of Win7.
On WinXP, his does not happen. I have another Acer 7700GX running either WinXP or Win7.

I have the same problem with my Acer Aspire desktop. One night before bed I ran a defrag scan and when I woke up the next morning, the computer was still on, so I didn't give it another thought. Later that day I tried to look something up and it was frozen, so I rebooted it the hard way and when It loaded up it froze right on the desktop, so I rebooted it again and went into the bios settings, there it tells me there is no hard drive found. I was wondering if there was anyway I can fix this without replacing the hard drive because I have real important documents and music on that drive that I've been working on that I need to get off it. I have since bought a mini PC to tide me over somewhat to do what I have to do online until I get a better replacement or fix my old one. Please reply, this was 6 months ago.

Please help me, PC Monkey. I changed my old HDD to a new one and it's an SSD. The new SSD reads on the INFORMATION tab. But on the BIOS tab, the SSD does not show on the boot priority order. It only shows the bootable drive that i just made. I tried changing it to legacy but on the boot mode, it only has the UEFI option and I can't change it. I already tried disabling secure boot but it still does not show up on boot priority. Please help me.

If the function key seen here didnt work, try the other ones. Acer uses different ones for different models sometimes.

I bought a new Acer Aspire 5 A515-56 laptop without windows. When I on the lap I get a shell> prompt. When I tried to install Win10 with a bootable USB, I get error "We couldn't find any drives. To get a storage driver click load driver". What is the problem
What do I do next. Please help.

If so, the 'hard drive' is integrated into your motherboard and cannot be separated. You would have to replace the motherboard in order to replace the drive.
What happens when your HDD has crashed? I can't put Windows back on it. I have no restore partition...
If a HDD has 'crashed' in error but is overall healthy, then it should be able to start up again. If its gone bad and is no longer healthy then it would have to be repalced. Also, the DATA on it most likely is bad too
HDD is totally dead. Need to replace it. I dunno how to get the data back on a new HDD to run Windows. @@PC_Monkey

hi, I have acer laptop aspire 5, the situation was, I slept and forgot my laptop to shutdown while having transfer photos from my cellphone to disk d, and when I woke up the laptop says, critical battery, so I immediately charge it. After I plug the charger, I open it and it took to long to open prolly because it was drained, but after 5 mins it opens.. And then when I access the disk D to check my transferred photos I cannot access it, It was lagging... And Then I Immediately restart the laptop, but when it was loading it says need a repair disk so I waited stage 1... And After I took a bath, I saw my laptop finished the stage 1 but with blank screen so I did restart it again and when it opens and check for the Disk D, nothings change its still lagging, I cant access any folder .. :( please help me. This happened to me. I did everything and when all the steps aren't working, I tried opening my laptop and reseated the HDD. I did it like 10 times. On the tenth try, my laptop worked.

You could be looking at a bad HDD. I would replace it and try the install on the new one. Let me know if you would like assistance with that operation :)

It may be bad. Try replacing it and see if the computer can read the new one.

When it turns off, has Windows booted up successfully and your using the computer, or is it still trying to startup?

Acer aspire notebook 2020 model. Under the Boot priority order there's no head drive detected though is deleted only on the information section
Try unplugging the HDD and then plugging it back in. Sometimes the connection just needs to be corrected / refreshed. That work? If not, have you tried the steps seen here in BIOS?

a315-42 user here and it's crappy AF. i dropped my phone on it and it stopped working correctly. no hdd detected on bios. i tried reseating and even replacing with my known good spare hdd and still it can't detect it. not sure if I can still fix this.

@@PC_Monkey fixed it by disconnecting the battery and reseating cmos battery. never really encountered a bios issue in the past. i cant find the jumper on a tiny laptop motherboard so reseating cmos batt is easier. im a follower of your channel, btw because i find solutions here, i mean real solutions.

@@PC_Monkey not really i havn't try your video because it's at the repair shop where i took it for repair...... before the issue started i actually change the screen and my hp hard drive, i remove to put inside the acer..... after that everything was working well not until i took it home i even operated on it when i got home.... just for me to take along to my work office, i power it ON, it show the first acer logo after that nothing else shows instead of to start loading windows

You can check all that through the command prompt by typing in different commands for what you want to know.

They've n'been messing with me for 6 months and I have no clue what the terrible possibilities they have done. My phone computer probably my modem. A;l my accounts. I don't even know what's is real and not real anymore. I do know there's several of them and they are using something like Microsoft azure. PowerShell. I've tried going somewhere else to use a different computer in library and for 4 hours I got nothing done everything I tried was denied. @@benceydavid1194 Ok im sorry. I didnt actually view it before sending you the link. Yes, that HDD appears to actually be an eMMC drive and its integrated into the motherboard. It cannot be easily separated from the motherboard.

having the same problem with my HDD (Old Memory) its not the ribbon cables because it works, and its no the HDD because it works but for some odd reason when i put the screws back on, it would reset and all of a sudden it couldn't read HDD memory no where to be found not even in Bios menu, Even when i did it with only the lid on without turning it on it doesn't detect HDD either way, Trying to find a solution to this problem. Maybe because fast boot is on? I have an Acer N5, but it works when i unplug the ribbon cables and plug it back in and adding the lid without screwing it in and it works....

@@PC_Monkey I found the solution by myself I have an Acer N5 gaming laptop and if you're going to install a HDD I highly don't recommend you tighting up the screws otherwise the HDD wouldn't spin, twist the screw until its tight than untight it if that make sense to all of them I hope this helps someone else or because my HDD is a bit too thicc lol

Your computer may have a eMMC drive instead of a Hard Drive. That would mean its integrated into the motherboard and cannot be easily separated. Did you try the other steps seen here?
