I can't even get one of these works of art in my home country due to our super strict knife laws and here's you beating the devil out of three... You truly live in the land of the free

Good stuff. For anyone out there who hasn't had a double-action OTF apart... It's less a "safety device" than just an aspect of the design; at rest, there's almost no spring tension in the knife. When you slide the, uh, slide, it "winds up" or tensions the spring, then when you reach the end of the slide's travel, it reaches a catch or sear, releasing the blade, which at this point has a spring pulling on it. The spring only has force equivalent to the pressure and distance you put into it with your thumb. So the blade takes off, but after using the energy in the spring, in the first 1/2" or so of travel, it's just coasting. Almost nything that gets it its way between here and fully open or fully closed (whichever way it's going) is going to eat up the little bit of kinetic energy it has left; move your arm the right way while firing, and it won't make it. A single-action OTF is typically under constant spring tension when stored ready-to-use, and can come out with a pretty good wallop. Thanks for an awesome video! Love these torture tests. It's nice to know what these knives can take and still keep running. A lot of folks just see the price tag and don't understand why it's so expensive; this is why. They're engineered and built with care by people trying to make the best OTFs on the market.
I bought my Ultratech last year when I saw your torture test video on it and I pulled the trigger and bought it and don’t regret it I still use it as my main knife everyday and it still looks like new
The beautiful thing about a quality OTF is that the lock is stronger than most people think but even if it fails there is no way of folding on your fingers. Some people say it is slow for self defense compared with waveable folding knives but I think you could as well punch and kick or could use in the closed position as a kubotan and even yet the difference in deployment speed if you want the blade opened is very small even compared to a fixed blade speed.
Thank you so much for demonstrating the capability of these knives. Would love to see how a Guardian Tactical holds up to your nail test. Awesome content!!!!
I didn’t really know how much a serrated edge improved cutting ability. Great torture tests, keep them coming! I think all these videos really sold me on getting on
its really for heavy cutting tasks like wood or a rooe but anything finer like most people will use a knife for will be hindered by serrations just different use cases
try cutting heavy rope, nylon or rubber. Serrated edge is MUCH better for really tough stuff than straight edge. They're a little harder to sharpen but not too bad.
Today I carry a LUDT as my EDC. I watched a video that X-Ring took a deadblow hammer and cut a 4x4 in half with one. In the end it still cleanly cut s slice of paper. I had my LUDT engraved with my screen name.
Im recently posting a lot of knife content on tiktok; if they're looking to work with any of the creators on their tell them I'm interested. I was always weary of OTFs, but this definitely has my attention. I need to find out whether OTFs are against there terms of service.
The counter to the paper bag test dismissal is that nobody has ever needed to hammer a pocket knife blade through a 2x4, and virtually NOBODY is going to use their knife in that manner in the real world...but it is nice to know it could if needed. However, most knife work is in the form of cutting which places little stress on the front blade lock. A quality Chinese replica of MT has a close-fitted aluminum chassis which supports the blade well. They have "decent" locks...not as thick as MT, but they are hardened as I discovered while tuning a replica UTX70 front lock to work more reliably with the Hellhound blade profile, AND the lock pockets on high end knives are held to a higher tolerance which keeps the lock from moving around under load. MOST who buy a DA OTF will never do more than cut paper, cardboard, tape, cord, rope, etc which is all dependent on edge sharpness not lock strength. I've got an Atomic Defender with relatively thin, 1.2 mm lock squares in a Zinc-alloy chassis that is an outstanding all-around performer because the blade-to-handle tolerance is snug, the blade is razor sharp, and it can easily slice through all manner of stuff. I am also supremely confident that it would fail the "Nail test" but then, I'm not going to test any of my expensive Microtech knives either...
I really don't understand why anyone would want one of these overpriced gimmicks. Really even thinking one of these is a self-defense weapon. Shows how little knowledge you have about violent situations.

I carry my Combat Troodon a lot, also carry my Ultratech and my UTX- 85 quite a bit too. Usually I carry my Combat along with my Guardian Tactical Recon Elite, which honestly is my favorite OTF knife I have. The action is just flat out better than anything else on the market. I have had to send every microtech I have ever owned in for service due to broke springs primarily, but I have edc'd the Recon Elite for about 6 months now, and it has never even failed to fire or retract once. It really is impressive. I love Microtech, but shout out to Guardian Tactical for making something that is just a bit better. Also shout out to my collector buddy that sold me his Combat Troodon for firework's money... $325 bucks. Thanks knife bro!
"I have yet to meet someone that has been trapped inside of a large paper bag of some sort" lmao he has a point!!😂👍👍
Thank you. The nail test on the Dirac was exactly what I needed to see.

Excellent explanations! I really appreciate it.
Nice testing Rick that Dirac is just beautiful. I have the other 2. Just need the Dirac. Thanks for the torture test

Just got my first microtech…a dirac…and I absolutely could not be more happy. I may only buy microtech now. Great video.
These Microtech knifes are super tough and reliable. I wish I could own a few of them . Nice review Rick 👍.
These are way tougher than I would have guessed.

Yes!!! One I haven’t seen yet💪💪
I know new microtech videos are always a great thing. Love them
Excellent video of their double edge OTF's knifes, Rick. Keep them coming. Gave a thumbs up
I might just screen record you performing this hammer test. That shit is amazing.
Nice test Rick I bought 2 new knives after winning one from your channel which I greatly appreciate my new go to for knives 🔪
Awesome great to hear.

Thank you. Just purchased the combat.
You never finished the Dirac test. You left it nailed in the wood and ended your vid bro!
Nice job Rick.
Good Stuff Rick 👍 Man I want a combat troodan 👊😎🇺🇸
Good stuff. Just got the Dirac myself. Will probably see if I can find the Dirac delta with a serrated edge next.
Holy shit. Great video. Send me the leftovers. Haha. I love my Microtech knives would never do that.
Love the video, but where are your safety glasses?
On the bench somewhere.

You want to sell one of those at a discount now?
I thought I may have made the wrong decision ordering the Dirac the other day. But after seeing this I know it won’t let me down………..ever!
I use my Dirac 225-12 every day . I have 2 my favorite microtech knife
Love the paper bag comment. Made me laugh.
can you send me some for T&E ?
Rick do Microtech make a folding blade knife with a less than 3 inch blade? TTF knives and greater than 3 inch blades are illegal in the UK.
The LUDT might not sure on specs
Thank You Sir! The serrated edge performs great! 👍🇺🇸 #22aday
Rick, what's the used price for all 3? Lol?
Now test a Deadlock
He’s seen many people trapped in ropes.
I worked as a rope rescue technician
Those shore are purdy.😙
I love mine to death. I don't have the balls to use it too much.
Knife with 2 inch+ length illegal in CA. Pot perfectly legal.
Good f your going to do the mail test on all 3 then show us all 3 work . Makes me wonder about the Dirac now . Definitely can tell the video stops .
Was wondering the same ..... it appeared he was looking at the Dirac (at end) with some concern 😉😉
Yes I thought it was sus as well
I dont like those glaasbreaker
