SKYFALL | 007 Undergoes MI6 Tests - Daniel Craig | James Bond

- “This is going well…” James Bond (Daniel Craig) has his physical skills and mental condition re-evaluated by MI6 in SKYFALL. The set was based on Churchill’s bunker system built during World War II and was filmed at Pinewood Studios and the Old Vic Tunnels in London. Directed by Sam Mendes with Judi Dench as M and Rory Kinnear as Tanner, as seen in this clip.

The best thing about Craig as 007 is he oozes with class and charisma even when he no longer wears a suit or not clean shaven or wounded. The way he speak, walk and even stand.
What about pierce Brosnan as bond. He is the type of bond that is 😎
@Jody Owen you have the perfect description. Now the movies are great thats why daniel craig shines through them but in reality he is not that great of an actor but pierce Brosnan is a veteran and he is a great actor who is very versatile . The problem was the movies. If you see 'November man' (Brosnan but not bond ) he is great in that movie. Not the problem with bond but the problem with the movie
@@kshitijraikar7240 I disagree in some parts. To me they're both equally good actors, but Craig's scripts most of the time gave him far more to work with that Brosnan's gave him.
@@MrConstantine02 you right but the thing is that they also are different type of actors craig is more of a stiff hard guy ,whereas Brosnan liked to have fun. But I think (my opinion) a prime Brosnan is better than a prime craig

His complete lack of hesitation when he says the word England gives me chills every time I watch this. Not only because of how patriotic it is, but also that you consider his swiss/scottish heritage, the pain of skyfall childhood home memories, and the intensive indoctrination of the 007 program, it only makes sense he calls England his home.

He should have said Britain instead of England. That would make sense.
@@raymondhaskin9449 that's true, I was surprised that the film makers made that mistake lol
The target practice scene is the saddest and most brutal one. He realises he can't even do the one thing which was always the saving grace to his frivolities and arrogant risk-taking - to kill without fail or hesitation. That was always his greatest and darkest talent.
Nothing worse than realising the honed reliable body of your youth are starting to fade. Whether through slowing reaction speed, injuries and pains, distracting complicated relationships, weight of responsibility and expectations, personal traumas, failing eyesight, drink/pills, persistent insomnia or simply boredom/mid life crisis of no longer finding the excitement and motivation in your work anymore.
I understand that nothing guarantees you will always be healthy, but if you let yourself go physically, you will pay a very high price later on... This is why you never stop training. As long as you are pushing yourself constantly, the decay that comes with aging can be slowed down SIGNIFICANTLY.
I wonder if he was faking it to send a bogus message to Silva who then expected far less of Bond when they came into contact on the island. Silva hacked the computers and was able to read the evals on Bond concluding he was not much of a threat. But then when it came down to it he was able to wipe out the henchmen as well as a 30 year old and capture Silva.
@@kidd_gallahad2512 Congratulations -- you figured it out. M knew that whoever attacked had access to everything, so when Bond reappears, he gives her an opportunity.

I think Skyfall comes closest to the James Bond that Ian Fleming created. Imperfect and human but still effective and deadly.
Nah. Craig's Bond is akin to Jason Bourne. Fleming's was conflicted but ultimately accepted who he was.
Actually this is nothing like Fleming's Bond, but it is a great story and great movie. Personality wise the closes is Brosnan, in investigation Dalton.
I think as a movie though, Skyfall was pretty boring and didn't have much substance. This bbn whole training montage is such a corny Hollywood trope and doesn't advance the story in any way. After the first scene, nothing really happens in Skyfall for quite some time. Casino Royale and Quantum were the absolute best Craig Bond films.
In the books, Bond had an emotional breakdown after the “incident” and for all intents and purposes really did die that day. Daniel Craig is the only Bond depicting this
@TheSmithersy so you expect him to say "Scotland"?
2:06 great bit of subtle acting from the actor playing the psychologist and good writing/directing too that gives him a bit of a human side. It is usually the supporting actors that make a good movie IMHO.
He totally sells it. He's not a glorified extra reading a list, he perfectly captures the bemused professional who's done this before and recognizes in seconds that "oh, it's going to be like that", but has to keep going anyhow.

The part with Bond and the psychiatrist is an absolute masterclass in the art (and importance) of subtle acting. What, on the surface, looks like it would be some of the simplest acting in the film is actually some of the hardest to pull off effectively, yet Craig and the actor who plays the psychiatrist somehow make it look effortless. Also, smart producers don't hire directors of the caliber and background of Sam Mendes for the big action scenes, but for the "small" scenes like this. This is where they truly get their money's worth.
my favorite part about this is bond keeps BOTH his eyes open when shooting. love that attention to detail.
2:45 Terrific acting by Craig.
What do you mean?? How?
@@leewebb4220 the implications of the word hitting deep. The way he give a hint of annoyance, sadness, and fear of the word. Then giving the word finally that he associate with Skyfall. "Done." In a contained but hard tone.

Daniel Craig budges his facial muscles from their brooding pout for a second and everyone's "OMG GENIUS!!" Overrated actor. I always love that psychiatrist. He's on screen for just a few seconds, not even on camera half the time, yet, he performs brilliantly.
I thought it was hokey and a bit formulaic.
i love how they take out a lot of speed in this movie during the time he comes back to regain his skills and goes through struggles. many scenes do not have any musiclayers underneath. some people call this bond movie boring, i call it the best ever.
I went through a nasty depression from addiction and had to pick myself back up. That first week back in the gym was like a detox. When Bond falls to the ground after those chin ups is very relatable for me. More then once that week I had to sneak off to the toilet and collapse/vomit. Felt like I was dying, but felt 1000% better just a few days later, had to be done. I remember at one point I hit the squat rack and a few heavy sets I nearly puked all over the gym floor, just barely made it to the toilet. Fun times.
Amazing strength man. I’m Ona replacement prescription and I’ve been on it far too long, I’m feeling the pain finally coming off that stuff and can totally relate to the dedication to natural improvement and physical rehab helping mental state.
This is one of the best scenes in the film to me. The word association is just such a great idea.

Inductees Kiss ('14)'s striking face paint makes them one of the most recognizable acts ever. Which Inductees do you think have the best sense of bold style?
Yeahh, but they cut that scene.
I always thought "Skyfall" was a code word for something radical that he never expected to hear (like a safe word) but knows the importance of it, so by saying 'Done' he basically is saying 'consider the mission done, I will do what is required of me'. However, I now realize it was intended to provoke him. It's like a lie-detector test; they always start with easy, obvious questions to put you at ease and then just as you're getting into the swing of it and (relaxing) they throw in one of the key questions. In this case, they bring up Bond's childhood,, so he gets pissed off and leaves.
I don't remember much about this movie at all. How does Skyfall bring up his childhood memories?
@@intosilence1773 Skyfall is the name of Bond's childhood home.

When I saw the teaser trailer which had this scene, I had thought that maybe Skyfall was the code name for a secret operation, either military or MI6, that Bond was previously involved in, like "Operation Skyfall" (given the UK's use of code names for operations, example Operation Granger, Operation Braid, etc.), and that it would come back to haunt him and MI6. Boy how wrong I was on that.

Perhaps it's part of a/the stress test? A field agent is always on the move and always processing information, a lot of the time under physical and psychological pressure.
