We headed West from Virginia a year & a half ago. With a dream of homesteading in Alaska's wild woods. So much blood, sweat & tears have gone into our homestead already & we are finally starting to see the fruits of our labor. In this week's video, we are working in the sheep pasture, modifying my milking parlor, tapping Alaskan Birch water & making homemade blueberry yogurt with our fresh sheep milk! 10 years ago today May 4th, my husband of 46 years died....time does heal but we still have triggers that put us back to your last moments together....I spent the day cleaning the garage, mowing the lawn & vacuuming the house....Never apologize Tina for loving someone....

My son was allergic to my milk, any kind of formula. We put him on goat's milk and he thrived!! And back then, goat's milk was very expensive and only came in half pint cartons. One of our friends had goats and gave us fresh goat's milk on the doctor's advice and he gained weight and started growing like a weed!!

Hola 👋 from New Mexico 🌶️.....Gosh Tina I was thinking of Kellen and really wondering how he is doing but know you can't comment on him wish he would be able to to his own You Tube but he is to young anyway he will be in my heart always. And then you show us Kellen's tree. Pete playing with the fish pole with the dogs is so funny.....and won't be surprised if they catch a fish when you go to the cabin. Lol Nice to see you milking the sheep and it's not me. I grew up on a dairy with50 head in the winter and many more in the summer. Milked from the age of 7 until we quit farming during my Junior yr. Sarah is so cute and sure wants to be with you"her mom". Thanks for all the great info. 👍 Sour dough and birch water so interesting.

Girlll I was just telling a lady at the homestead expo I wanted sheep for milk. And a friend for the cow, they are easier to keep than goats, and she told me no one milks sheep! Me I go where does sheep milk cheese come from. ❤

I will have to watch your sour dough starter info. I even went to a class, but it just didn't work well with this old brain. I now have a grain mill and Bosch mixer, so I need to put it to work.

My daddy was a marine and one my favorite memories of my dad came back to me while watching your Boot Camp singing. We lost my dad to Alzheimer’s in December 2020. I remember when I was a child, he used to march up the hallway singing. “ I don’t know, but I’ve been told……. and adding something add Lib at the end of that. One of his favorite additions was to say, JONA’s (my sister) nose is mighty cold.”

@ 47:31 This would make for a great long term time lapse during seasonal change. Winter to spring, spring to summer, summer to dall, fall to winter. Maybe 1 shot an hour or whatever you think would work over say a 3 month period.

I had a thought. Why not close the bathroom door opening & put a door into your office? Closer to the bedroom, more privacy and you could give your kitchen more work space by extending the countertop where the door once was. Unsolicited advice but I thought it would really look nice🥰

Little frustrated with my starter. The starter is fine, but our oven is on the Fritz. Now, I'm feeding the starter and can't use it for about a week while we wait for parts. Also, I made a simple spurtle type stirrer instead of using a spoon handle.

I love eating lamb but not a lot of people enjoy... I like to put pieces of garlic right into the raw meat (just use a paring knife & jab it into the meat & put a piece of cut garlic into the open space) ... mmmm so good ... if you cut the bone out of the leg, you can put some bread stuffing into the meat & wrap the meat around it like a roast & cook it - you can add garlic to the meat ... all very good!

Your dogs remind me of our German shepherd. He goes out in the field when my husband works in the field. He is also right with me when I work in gardens or mow grass.
