    Voiceplay (acapella) has quite a few vids uploaded. You can react to them, along with Pentatonix and Home Free. They do a wide variety of stuff, but kinda specialize in Disney and showtunes.
    Voiceplay's lineup for a number of years has been Earl Elkins, high tenor; Eli Jacobson, low tenor; JNone, baritone; Geoff Castellucci, bass; and Layne Stein, beatboxer and occasional additional singer.
    But last year the group lost Earl, and he still hasn't been permanently replaced. Plus, there were the COVID restrictions. So, Voiceplay did a limited number of new vids last year, and used various guest artists (male and female) in the open spot. And, Geoff started doing solo music vids. In most of them, he just multitracks all the parts himself.
    Now, the group is losing JNone as well. He's going into the Navy. I hope Voiceplay survives and bounces back strong.

    As some of the others said, Geoff is the bass singer for the 3rd of the big 3 Acapella groups, VoicePlay. Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voiceplay are all incredible. You really do need to hear some of Geoff's music along with a heaping helping of VoicePlay's
    music

    Geoff is the bass in the acapella group VoicePlay, who are excellent and you definitely should react to them. Besides his solo stuff (which other people are already recommending!) I recommend VoicePlay's medleys, especially Queen and Moana, and also Warriors, Can't Help Falling In Love, and Kiss.

    I love bass voices. Geoff Is from Voice Play and Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix (until 2017) and Tim Foust from Home Free are three of the very best basses in my opinion. These 3 guys sing like dragons from the depths of th earth, and each of them have huge vocal ranges and can surprise us by singing in the tenor range too. If ever they were to collaborate on one song it would be epic!

      Avi hasn't sung in Pentatonix for a couple years now, and Matt Sallee, the guy who replaced him, should probably be part of this conversation. But Geoff is pretty awesome. I like all four of them. A lot.

    • @rosedouglas9586
      @rosedouglas9586 3 года назад +1

      @@67kemo you're right, I should have mentioned that Avi Kaplan had left PTX in 2017. I do like Matt, and he has a beautiful voice. In my opinion, he is not a bass singer like the three I mentioned in my comment above, which is why I left him out of it. I do think Matt does add to the Pentatonix sound quite nicely. He definitely has a good connection with the other members of PTX and makes beautiful music and harmony with them. This is all just my opinion.

    • @67kemo
      @67kemo 3 года назад +1

      @@rosedouglas9586 The only point I'll disagree on is I do think Matt belongs in the discussion. Some of the features they've done with him seal the deal, in my book. I honestly think that Matt is just a bit too humble to rumble at this point. I think he'll be a real "name" in five or ten years, though. And, like you, this is just my opinion. I appreciate the civility of disagreement without negativity.

    Welcome to the Geoff Castellucci train. It is a very pleasant ride, and you've found a very fine station to get on at. Though, to be honest, there's not really a bad place to get onto the train. You'll want to connect with him on VoicePlay as well. He really does work with an amazingly skilled group of people. Though, a little over a year ago, there was a departure from the group, and right now, another member of the group is in the process of departing the group. Still, they do amazingly well with guest singers... they never turn in a bad performance.

I'm an old guy in the farthest corner of the northwest w/ little to nothing in common w/ you or your life up to now. Yet somehow you ended up reacting to a performance I've been kind of shadowing... and it turns out you & I have a common appreciation of letting ourselves enjoy a fun, talented group w/out all the bs that age and all the other crap puts in the way to create some kind of devision. Too cool... Subscribed. Now, check these guys out in the other stuff they have online. Geoff (base) is one of maybe half a dozen on the planet who has the capacity to sing in a 5 octive range. Just chase him and Ari and Tim online... it's fun.

I certainly can't picture any rappers or hard rockers even getting close to Geoff's notes and you pronounce bass as Base, unless it's the fish - then you say bass/ Next should be either the original version or his Take Me Home, Country Road (the John Denver song or are you too young to know it), but great reaction

    Tim Faust himself has said that Geoff Castellucci might well be the lowest voice in music right now, and says that the truth i, Geoff Castellucci can go lower than he (that is, Tim himself) can go. Geoff disagrees, but Tim keeps saying it. The two of them are friends and have helped each other with video production in the past.
    In addition to checking out Geoff's solo work, check out the videos he's done with his group Voiceplay.

    "I owe my soul to the company store" Young people, if they aren't into labor history, may not know this. In the dark days that this song stems from, miners would be "paid" in company coin that could only be spent at the company store. The prices were inflated to the point that miners would end up in debt just working. The coal mines had extremely cheap labor as a result.

  • @bookman7409

    What I didn't see up top is that this song represents a historical reality that was basically debt slavery. You see, back in the day many mining firms didn't pay their miners in money, but in company scrip, and the only place that would accept it as payment for anything was a store run by the company, which gave them monopoly power over pricing. Since the stores extended credit when their money ran out, getting into debt was easy, and getting out basically impossible. There was no racism in this system of slavery, in all but name, and since the miners lived what seemed to outsiders to be a hard life, but that was the lot of the poor. They couldn't see the debt-peonage parts, nor the fact that since parents had no money to get their kids out, it affected generations. Brutal shit, and there's much more, but history lesson over.
    That said, this is a song revealing a brutal truth, and Ford's original performances are a must to really "get it". Then take some time to absorb it, and then go watch the cover by Billy Gibbons and Jeff Beck. They put a lot more snarling anger into it than the other two, which'll get you even closer to the historical reality of living in that slavery system. I'd be angry a lot, too.
