Having Heston frickin Blumenthal himself guide you through everything feels like such an honor.
It sure is!!~
nah he's drunk af and probably a domestic violence abuser
Sir heston*
@casual_user-vt4bd hmm.. yeah, I've had neuralgia. Goes up and over your head, down to your forehead/eyes. Most painful thing I've ever been through, and I've had my jaw broken by a mugger
Who?
For those commenting about Heston appearance and speech - he recently got diagnosed wit Bi-polar and did a really in-depth interview talking about how he had a breakdown and was sectioned by his wife due to his extreme workload.
Try not to judge and just comment things like “oh he’s let himself go” etc etc.
Also he stopped doing most TV over 10 years ago, everyone ages.
Thank you for this. I was concerned because his speech seemed slurred/off and I was wondering if he was unwell in some way. Good for him on keeping going.
@ Yeah I believe the medication for the bi-polar is what slurs the speech, a fairly common side affect.
@@StevenHaggertythat makes sense.
I could never criticize anyone about a mental illness. I’ve had anxiety attacks since I was a little kid. I don’t like to be around many people. Even family get together are difficult. I take my meds and they help some but not all. Heston is an amazing artist with his food creations. He’s a MASTER! A GENIUS!! ❤❤❤🎉🎉😊
Thank you for the explanation. Not that it's my business anyway. My first thought was he had a stroke.
The fact that they did research on jolly and made specific dishes for them is crazy.
It seems like such a small thing but that blew me away. Restaurants and chefs of that caliber earn the right to refuse any sort of customization; this is the perfect menu, take it or leave it. To go out of their way to learn about the guests and do something playful just for them is incredible.
@@HJ-si7hd Interestingly in the world of very high end dining you get a bit of both. In some you go there for the artistic expression and experience that is very unique to the chef and his team, but in others, you're going for service so incredible you don't believe its real, and they'll have teams who will look at a customers social media and divine the things they enjoy and create unique experiences for each customer that makes the $300 per person feel like you got every penny's worth.
It's 3 stars for a reason, there's an episode of the bear where one of the characters works at a 3 star for a week and you see the lengths they go to.
@@HJ-si7hd it’s why there considered one of the best the attention to detail.
@@tannercollins9863 yep it’s what the best ones do
Went there for my 50th ten years ago. My mother was a talker and we ended up with 4 staff chatting away to to the four of us for a couple of hours. We the best meal and eating experience we have ever had. 4 days later I received a signed menu of that evenings meal. The staff tracked us down by calling a hotel near to my home in Scotland and asking if they knew my mother - they did (as did half of the town we lived in). Got my address and sent the menu Amazing. Need to go back.
Oh wow
That’s actually an incredible story. It’s really odd that an action that can seem so small can have such a massive impact on someone
What an absolutely lovely thing to do!
Incredible
That’s such a lovely story. The best meals I’ve ever had have always had hyper attentive staff.. that also made it feel so effortless and managed to be personable.
Definitely says something about the place… regardless of its legacy and prestige.
I will certainly have to go next time I’m across the pond.
Can we just appreciate Ollie's interviewing skills? Heston seemed to have gotten into his emotions a bit there at the end and then was able to crack a joke to bring it all back to a lighter mood. Great episode, Heston is such an amazing person. To have made custom dishes for Ollie and Luke. What a class act.
@@yellownoiseclub Luke is the cameramen, he like Greg sausage roll
i was gonna say the exact same thing oml
I was thinking the exact same thing. He seems to have some kind of super power when it comes to connecting with people.
Thoroughly impressed with Ollie in this episode. I must confess he sometimes strikes me as too much of the class clown but his emotional intelligence is shining here.
Wonderful!
No other words could describe this! Thank you for sharing this honest story!
But can we discuss the… waiter?… Maitre d’? The magicians apprentice? Serving the three of them with no trace of worry or self consciousness in front of his boss. Humorous, interactive…. Present for the diners. Hats off to him.
Yes! Also, under pressure, even if Heston is a chill chef (I have no idea), it's cooking for the man himself! They did great!
At one point they have to think and see Heston Blumenthal as their own guest. I mean Heston himself did get surprised by his own dish, as if he didnt designed it himself.
He's my hero.
Dude I kept thinking about how much pressure that is! Representing the restaurant for millions to see, and in front of the boss the whole time! He didn’t try to take over the show too much either, he let Heston explain the finer details and it made such a lovely atmosphere for the video!
I'd add, kindly putting their guests at ease.
As incredible as Heston is, can we take a moment to appreciate what a special person Olly is. To be able to approach such delicate topics with such sincerity, and to be able to lighten the tone at the perfect moment. He really showed some of his best qualities here!
He is used to it. He opened a homeless shelter remember? Bless him.
Absolutely. He was at his very best this episode.
Completely agree.
@@Sosoph098 Really? When did they say it?
@raisatasnim518 idk if they opened a homeless shleter. But ollie used to work or volunteer to help the vulnerable in the communities along with Rev. Chris. I remember they said that in one of their videos, not sure what it is.
what's actually interesting is at the start, you can sort of hear from heston he's feeling like he's "just shooting a video for some youtubers", but the second they show theyre genuinely interested in the experience, with the tea around the 6 minute mark, you can hear a clear difference between "talking for a video" heston and "passion coming through" heston, more of his tone and energy comes back suddenly and you can just tell he's really proud of it
When Ollie calls him a Superhero, the look on his face as if he were so overcome emotionally. . .
I wish them all good health, close friends, understanding families, and eternal peace and happiness.
Heston could use it. He's been struggling lately.
The end of the episode made me tear up.
@pomb4946 right? Tears were dripping from the moment Ollie thanked him. Then the Roald Dahl story. By the Superhero comment, I was a complete mess.
I wish that for you too!
@BrianHurry OMG! Thank you! That truly means so much. May peace and blessings rain down on you and your loved ones.
What I love about Ollie is that he seems like the light hearted joker most of the time but is actually really emotionally intelligent, empathetic and sophisticated. He's also such a lovely and warm person
Yes sir, he is all of those things.
I'd say he has the most regular intelligence of the two also.
I had to watch twice and use the transcript to keep up with this amazing episode. I was awed by every bite you took. Heston is indeed a Willy Wonka. Bless his genius.
Is this Ollie burner acct?
Agree 💯
The comment that Ollie made, inspiring him to seek help and calling him a superhero? That's a little seed he planted right there and he knows it. I appreciate the emotional intelligence put to work right there, because that was more about the person he IS and not what he represents. The pause you see Heston taking there, that is the effect of consideration.
Also, if you noticed, Josh went to the background a little bit and had Ollie do the most things here. That's just grand, period.
Yes I really appreciated Josh holding back here and letting Olly take the lead ‘gently’ - such a mark of respect
i didnt notice that. he did let ollie cook. i interpreted it as more like "ollie carried this one" but i guess josh has to allow him to cook.
You nailed it
Beautifully said. xo
Nothing can top Ollie at 17:45 saying something as ridiculously inappropriate as comparing Heston’s wine cellar to a Japanese toilet, only for Heston to open the door and reveal an actual Japanese toilet. I’m dead.
Legitimately, this is a PERFECT video. Extremely seldom do you watch something that hits humor, emotional depth, and pure entertainment on this kind of level. I salute the Jolly team in its entirety, crew, on-screen personalities, editors, etc.
well said. i was thinking the same thing. THIS is how you RUclips. the whole Jolly team is at the top of their game and Josh and Ollie are such warm, enthusiastic, and genuine guys. what a lovely tonic in awful times. thank you, guys.
Sorry, but I spotted one slight imperfection... it took them a full 11 minutes into the video to say Heston's name. Sadly, after wracking my brain, I had to look at the video description to remind myself of it (I'm old and it's been awhile since I've seen him on MasterChef). Otherwise, a stellar job by everyone!!!
Best video from Jolly!
Exactly!
Ever since the Fat Duck opened, I’ve dreamed of going. Finally, last year, I could afford to go (on my own). It really was the most amazing food experience of my life. The staff were lovely, really looked after me, not at all stuffy or pretentious. I’m 57 and had a child’s wonder and excitement again. If you love food and save, it’s worth it, a memory you will never forget. Don’t be afraid to go on your own, they will look after you. Thank you Heston and his team.
You are so lucky. I have been trying to book for 1 person, but they only have availability for 2 person tables, so I have to be put on a waitlist 😭

I happened to get quite emotional towards the end, seeing that beautiful mind of Hestons on full display and Ollie taking it in as the inner child he is so known for, he always ends up being the perfect guest for these amazing chefs, Heston and Mazimo loved him both, and I think Ollie is just the perfect vessel for these creative geniuses to convey their thoughts to!
bc he is genuinly so interested and just honestly reacts to everthing, like a child or a puppy like you said :D
he's always sparkling when he sees the magic
Very well stated, I agree totally!

I never thought a Jolly video would move me to tears, but after seeing the child-like wonder of Mr. Blumenthal's work and the guy's response to literally meeting one of their heroes. "I'm not Crying, YOUR CRYING!" lol
I'm definitely crying!
I’m also crying and watering at the mouth
Rightttt, like I was holding it together and that got me right at the end, and now I'm a sobbing pile a mush loll
I have never commented before but, this episode was so poignant, so emotional, so amazing. Thank you so much for highlighting such an amazing artist!
Here I sit, with a lump in my throat and my eyes misted over. This was a truly special experience and I can't even imagine what it must have been like for Josh and Ollie to have been sat there with Heston and to have him walk them through his process and the meaning behind each dish. I don't know what could ever top this for them. It was so moving at the end, that I'm still feeling a bit emotional.
@@bobbiejojackson9448Me too! It was very special! I had to share it with my foodie friends and family members! 😊
You’ve peaked with this one, boys. To share a meal like that with the master himself? Just so emotional for me, for some reason. I’ve followed Heston forever and this is such a dream come true to me. What a joy to share this with you!
same! I saw him on some masterchef Australia episodes and have followed him for a while. I didn't know abt his diagnosis at all, but thought is he might be sick after seeing him here. All the anecdotes he said was so lovely. Good episode eh?
As a kid, my two childhood heroes that I loved watching on TV were Heston and The Mythbusters. They shaped my love for food and science. Wish I could've been there with Josh and Ollie.
28:31 - "There's a house behind you" - the most British way to deal with not knowing how to handle compliments
I hope you guys realize that he seen something in the two of you that made him want to share his process with you. I could tell you were honored and appreciated the moment, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.
To be the two that broke the mold for Heston, being "the first time to do this", you saw genuine delight when Josh was describing the seascape and
Heston was literally involved in the description and the food, like it was his first time. Well done both of you, you're greatest episode yet
Why am I crying at the end of the video....? I am bawling. What a way to start 2025 and reminding all of us that being magical is still possible. Thanks guys.
Same
Same! Such happy tears, though!
Same. It is incredibly moving to witness the work and the pure presence of such a beautiful soul. For me, this video was the epitome of sharing humanity--a delightful exchange of people sharing their talents, passions and unique giftedness
i feel like i started crying because Heston, like Ollie had alluded to, has allowed his inner child drive this passion. and i started to question if had lost my own connection to my inner child and where my own passions truly lie.
@@lytez95Brilliant, and agreed
Please thank Heston for me for sharing a meal with you. It brought tears to my eyes seeing how gracious and hospitable he was. I would never have been able to experience his creations in person. Also he included Luke in his preparations. Videographers are rarely thought of, you honestly have treated Luke very well yourselves and not like the hired help. That was the epitome of dignifying. What a kind soul.
Super to see Heston back on a screen it's been years. What an exceptional gentleman.
this feels like such a special video and the fact that heston made specific things for you guys.... the big mac ice cream for ollie and the sausage roll for luke.... just shows that he pays attention to what you guys do and that feels so personal of him and that he sat down and explained the entire meal to you?? what an incredible man and you guys treated every dish with so much wonder and love. thank you for such a wonderful video
Honestly, when I watched those scenes in The Bear where Ritchie learns how to run the floor, I thought it was over the top how the staff found out details about the guests and made specials for them, but clearly I was wrong and haven’t been to enough fine dining.
Doing research on the RUclipsrs coming to your restaurant is simple logic, but finding out that their cameraman loves sausage rolls and cooking one for him just shows what elite service really looks like. Holy crap!
That attention to detail was most gracious!
I haven't gotten far (I'll need to come back and finish later) But I was hoping to hear this! He looks like he's genuinely excited to talk to the whole crew and that makes me happy to hear.
As the person behind the camera, I know Luke had to feel moved to near tears to know that the team hadn't just thought of him but had created something unique just to celebrate him. I know he gets to enjoy many things off camera that we don't see, but to be so thoroughly included and acknowledged at this restaurant would definitely create an unforgettable memory for him.
@@Kevster921it shows the research and desication to make this a great experience for them. it makes me respect heston even more as a chef
I am not surprised you get these opportunities. The way you both appreciate the work, and Ollie can connect to people in the most special way I have ever seen. This was one of the best episodes of anything I have ever seen, so many onions right now. As always, the editing team, incredible work that was beautiful.
This fills me with wonder!
So glad I’m not the only one who got onions dumped on them. Ollie may be a goofball but he can be so profound and say something that instantly connects. He does it quietly but you can see the instant flash of connection! Beautiful!

I came here to the comments to check and see if anyone else had the emotional experience watching this episode like I did. I've been wiping away tears for the last 20 minutes of this video. I can't quite put my finger on why, the passion the chef has for his craft? The happiness you can see in the Jolly crews eyes? The beauty and unbelievable foods that do not seem real to this world? I'm not quite sure but this content is amazing and I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who received that from this little 30 minute video ❤
I felt the same way. Was in tears, especially with the Alice in Wonderland consome dish. Also, the story of Dahl really brought the watershed. This episode of Jolly was one of a kind.

I almost never comment on a video, even though i have been using youtube daily since it existed.
i had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes from the moment i recognized heston's voice. he is one of my heroes even though i haven't updated on his life for about three years now. i discovered him in 2008 and he changed my personal and culinary life, he enlightened me from the first moment, and i often look for his recipes or videos from the past. i didn't know about his condition in recent times, and seeing him so changed was a real shock. The energy he transmitted years ago while he was speaking, has completely transformed into a sweetness that he already possessed. with the story of Roald Dahl i definitely cried.

I truly appreciate Olli's ability to be so natural in these experiences, side by side with the chefs and creators. It makes everything feel so down-to-earth, and I'm pretty sure that, in this case, the chef appreciates it-especially since they must be tired of being constantly praised.
Can I just say that Olli's way of interacting with people really makes the world a bit better.... he always feels genuine and pure
this has gotta be up there in terms of food related videos, Heston being there explaining everything, people would pay tens of thousands for a experience like this and you've provided an insight of what that would be like through the video.
if this could win an award, it should.
Everyone's talking about Chef Blumenthal but what I notice on every Heston's restaurants episodes you have is that all the staffs that serves you guys are as playful as they can be which makes the dining experience seems more fun. They jokes around with you and everything which for me is so cool and makes you feel like family not just customer.
This is true hospitality at its finest. French cuisine is so stuffy and in your face and specific, this is pure hospitality at its core. As someone who has worked in every type of restaurant this would be a dream come true
Ollie, you're an amazing interviewer. The way you can break people switching from funny "child-ish" jokes to incredibly thoughtful and sensible words is out of this world. Pure talent.
Every now and again you watch something that transcends the usual content that is created, it's almost like you're sitting on the other side of that table through a two way mirror just watching the pure joy, authenticity and clarity of an interaction between genuine people that, although from totally different worlds, can come together like a marriage made in willy wonkas factory itself.
The emotion it brings to see how genuinely inspired Olly and Josh were, but also how incredibly touched and bashful Heston was to hear such kind words about his food, his legacy and the recognition for his lifes work took my breath away.
You guys have absolutely nailed it, not because of wild reactions or necessarily the classic Olly off the cuff gags (of which there were plenty), but as ever with Jolly you've caught the authenticity and truth of an interaction no one would have expected or thought of, one of the best 30 mins I've had in a long long time. And the fact Heston sat and enjoyed the meal with you and went through every dish as a personal guide with no previous organisation or planning shows the leap of faith he was willing to do through a delicate stage in his career which after his diagnosis would be very new, and probably took him out of his comfort zone, that just shows how much the Jolly comfort blanket transcends any old RUclips channel, people trust you and that speaks volumes for your hard work, truth and just keeping it real! Keep smashing it team!!
Well said mate
100% agree on everything here. Took the words right out of my mouth. What a beautiful video.
Very well said my guy. Truly depicts what any of the rest of us are feeling in this entirety. Ollie and Josh will be one of the most genuine people that have ever called a creator in this social media realm. More people should watch this favourite. And Heston was a surreal once in a blue moon type of individual as well. Historians these lot I must say.
Came here to write a version of that comment that wasn't nearly as well written nor thoughtful. This nails it. Spectacular video.

It seems like Heston really enjoyed having you there and truly welcomed you into his restaurant with his whole heart. He understood you were visiting and took it seriously enough to do research. That's very touching and super rare
I genuine believe that he enjoyed himself with you guys. He seems so sophisticated and wise that meeting normal ppl who arent highly sophisticated, like yourselves, reminds him of where he comes from and keeps him grounded. Especially hearing the story of Ollie's daughter questioning everything. Idk if that makes sense but that's the only way I can describe it.

I have been saddened to become aware of Heston Blumenthal’s health issues. A great man of the culinary world. His weight gain may be due to his medications. Watching him host his own menu was beautiful. It was like he was discovering his own food. The respect and admiration you gave him was lovely. I found this video very touching. Thank you. And I wish Heston all the very best and think him for the contribution he has made.

Thank you guys for this amazing episode.
This is the only michelin-starred restaurant I've seen that doesn't feel pretentious to me. Most seem fancy for the sake of fancy, whereas Heston just pushes the boundaries of what you think food can be, and uses science to do it. Incredible

Man i really admire Olli. It is a rare thing to be able to be so genuine, while bringing up hard personal topics, with a person you have only just met.
To the untrained eye a lot of people may think Heston is bored or isn't enjoying himself, but his open struggles with mental health and bipolar disorder really sets him apart from modern chefs, you can tell once you know this that his bunged up with his medication but deep down his inner self is still able to shine through
It’s great that’s he’s open about it now, and happy to be on camera.
Worst thing would be hiding away.
It's sad to see. I read about his Bipolar the other week. You can hear his speech slightly slurred but still great to see him doing what he loves.
I didn't think at all that he was bored. I'm about 2/3 through the video now. While obviously not remotely gregarious, he seems to really enjoy their take on things and watching them react to his creations. I did think think he probably had some health issues, because he looks much more lively in the photos of him they show, but he doesn't seem bored to me.
That makes sense. He looks so mellow compared to how he was in his past interviews.
Heaton Blumenthal is an amazing chef and person. Late last year, I was part of a Radio 4 show about eating on the spectrum with him.
My daughter is 4. She is autistic and has an eating disorder called ARFID. It's anorexia but not image-driven. She eats only 4 things in the same order every day. If one thing changes, she stops eating for days. Heaton had some really good ideas to help her eat.
that is so so so awesome
Hey. I know i'm just a random person on the internet, but I hope you and your daughter are doing well. All the best to you both okay?
I never thought I'd call a Jolly video beautiful, and come away with teary eyes, but this has done it!
What an emotional end to an incredible video. Thank you Heston. Thank you Josh, Ollie and the team for continuing to bring so much light in to an increasingly dark world. You are all absolute gems.
Thank you for putting that in such great words. My son is bi-polar. He's 42 and still lives at home. Truly can be very very dark. Thank you again
No way! You guys met the man himself 😃 From ordering the Meat Fruit for takeout to eating at two of his other award-winning restaurants to going to the flagship, The Fat Duck. The Heston Blumenthal Michelin Madness Tour has come full circle.
Thanks guys, this must have been an experience for you both but it’s so pleasing to see Heston smiling and talking about food again. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and becomes his old self
I don’t know about everyone else but this episode got me, it made me very very emotional. We normally see Ollie as the goofy guy making the jokes and stuff, but he has such an incredible way of making really strong connections and speak from the heart. I’m 100% sure that Heston really felt his words and appreciated them.
After watching this, I’m making it a goal for me to save money and go to The Fat Duck and have this experience myself! You can count on that!
Much love from Barcelona!
How lucky are you to sit with a genius , you didn't just eat you had an experience of the senses with the master wizard . The man is humble and brave enough to share and expose his illness . What a man , what a legend .
"Just because you can explain it doesn't mean it stops being magic." That's the quote that popped into my head (prolly a misquote too) when watching this video. Heston's curiosity and creativity allowed him to make something as simple and common as food and turned it into an entire story. I also appreciate that they researched enough of Jolly to give everyone a personal experience that could probably never be considered elsewhere. Heston really is a magician and he took "playing with your food" seriously.
This is one of the best videos the guys have put out. It really showcases both of their extreme talents. Ollie being an incredible interviewer and Josh being able to guide you through the experience of the food they are having. They are clearly a beloved pair of gentlemen that The Fat Duck took time to know their preferences and make something special for them that is not even on their menu. Heston is such an amazing person, he clearly loves what he does and, as someone in the sciences as a profession, I love to see how he brings that together with his art. I laughed, I cried, seriously 10/10 such a great video.
As a child who loved watching cooking shows, I had always gasped in awe at Heston's work. Always in a sense of wonder and amazement. You've fostered my curiosity for food in more ways than you can imagine. I will one day visit your restaurant and hope to thank you in person. Thank you, Heston, for showing the child in me long ago what it means to explore food beyond the status quo, beyond the regular, beyond imagination.
Thank you Josh and Ollie for doing what you do and doing it wholeheartedly. You bring so much joy to people all around the world one jolly adventure at a time.
I have watched every episode of Jolly. This was your very best one. Your humor and kindness shown through, and a gentleness to the man who made you a childlike dreamscape of food was just such a wonderful 30 minutes of shared experience. I don't usually comment on RUclips videos but it's so well done. And Heston, a hug to you from Washington State, USA. Your heart seen through the wonder of your food is a beautiful thing to share with the world. ❤
10:28-10:32 such a journey in 4 seconds. Ollie went from skepticisim about a nasty surprise, to laughing about the big mac joke, to realizing it wasnt a joke to astonishment that Heston had done his research and knew that Ollie loves a Big Mac and specially crafted something for him.
The end .. Heston brougt tears to my eyes. Such a brilliant mind he has, and what a sweet thing to share the Roald Dahl story. Thanks for this upload 🩵
This has got to be the first time I've watched a video of a world renowned restaurant and thought wow...this is absolutely incredible instead of thinking it pretentious and the only reason its celebrated is prestige and it's perceived status. I genuinely would if ever given the opportunity go and experience this.
Best episode yet, not only because of the culinary excellence, but because of the genuine connection and depth of emotion. Heston seems like an incredibly brilliant and lovely person, and to be able to sit and share an experience with him, is a moment of a lifetime.
Ollie, you did a fantastic job cutting through the small talk and getting to the heart of Heston. To be able to sit in emotion and embrace it instead of running from it shows how beautiful of a person you are.
Absolutely brilliant episode
Olly and Josh, can I just commend you on being so sincere in your comments to Heston. I hope he takes them to heart during his dark moments.
I'm so amazed by this whole video: Heston's artistry, Josh's child-like sense of wonder but most of all because of Olly's balance between his charmingly weird sense of humor and the depth and maturity of his questions. I'm a recent-ish follower of this channel but I sure have binge watched the content and to see these two guys grow and learn and share their expereicnes with us is such a privilege.
First Massimo, and now the actual Heston Blumenthal. You lads are absolutely killing it.
Did not expect this to reduce me to tears but it did the moment that it was brought up that Roald Dahls wife came to the restaurant. His books are a timeless classic in our childhoods memories. Thank you for sharing such wonderful moments with us. Dining at The Fat Duck is on the bucket list. Heston, you are truly missed on British TV and will always be cherished for your amazing mind and your tenacious ability to create the wonderful. Thank you ❤
That was truly something special. I didn’t know a video about food could be so touching, meaningful and heartfelt. The purity of this modest genius continually creating something magical and unique, despite the challenges he faces, coupled with the childlike wonder and openness to new experiences of these two sweet, decent, genuine men, was beautiful to watch. I honestly feel Jolly bring more joy with their videos than almost any other content creators. A light in dark times.
This video literally gave me the feels. I feel he appreciated you guys as much as you appreciated him. It felt like he needed to hear what you had to say and you guys needed to experience what he had to offer. Amazing video
That just shows how good of a food "critic" Josh is. Describing a dish to it's own creator and having him forget it's his! You've always had a way with your descriptions, Josh, but that is a tremendous accolade. 12:55
the funny thing is, as a chef and i used to do waiter job on early days. i do feel the INTENSE pressure if i have the owner and the man himself sit there while i cook his own creation and serve it to him. my nerve might not make it man.
big props to the fat duck team !
I've never heard Ollie be so sincere and heartfelt. Ollie, you literally brought me to tears with your beautiful comments to Heston, plus his reaction. You could tell it really touched him. Cheers sir. Well done.
This was truly the best episode of this channel's history. You guys have become increasingly proper interviewers and with every single level up it gets more and more seriously done. From the shooting, the questions, the sensitive application of well timed humor and deep research. This was truly inspiring to watch.
Best ever broadcast Gentlemen. Not just the illustration of how magnificent Heston's imagination is, but the sensitivity of the whole piece. You are very lucky to have had him there guiding you through the experience. Just lovely.
My favourite Jolly episode has been with Massimo and Mr Z since it came out. It changed now. Heston is such an amazing person and what a suprise to see him enjoy himself and chat with you guys about every dish. What a great man!
Everyone who has heard of Heston knows the food is in it's own galaxy, but watching this video what has blown me away the most is the hospitality. Top notch service here.
My family flew in from New Zealand to eat at The Fat Duck. We were what not disappointed. The Fat Duck delivered the most fabulous food I've ever eaten. An extraordinary theatrical experience delivered by an exceptional front of house team. If you get the opportunity GO and eat at The Fat Duck. We were also lucky to get a wee tour of the kitchen and meet some of the chefs. Then I retired to my campervan located in The Fat Duck car park and slept dreaming of what I'd just experienced. Thank you Heston.
30:42 the real Willy Wonka 🥺 the look on Josh & Ollie’s faces was absolutely priceless. What a treasure of a video. American here, never heard of Heston, but this was a magical experience… just from a viewers eye! Willy Wonka is one of my absolute favorite book and movie (original!! Not Johnny Depp version lol) and I can only imagine what it was like for y’all to experience that. Wow, if this is the first Jolly video of 2025, I cannot wait to see what’s next!!! 😮
We all felt the same in the UK when Heston first appeared on our TVs 20 years ago. There are lots of cooking shows and celebrity chefs but Heston was like nothing we had ever seen, it was jaw dropping
@@Harrison5ivedHeston's Fantastical Food and Heston's Great British Food were incredible shows. First watched them when I was in high school and they were awesome.
I totally understand why it's the best restaurant in the world. And what an honor to have Mr. Blumenthal to walk you through it all. Amazing!
I'm a bit speechless in the best way. I never expected to get emotional over a restaurant video. What a gift for us all, Heston included. You can tell he was glimpsing a bit of his legacy as he shared the meal with Josh and Ollie.
That was a beautiful interview with a genius man. Josh and Ollie I follow your antics across the world, but your capture of Heston Blumenthal was inspiring. Excellent job you guys. 🙂
A cross between Alice in Wonderland and Willy Wonka! Amazing! And such a touching moment with Ollie and Heston. The genius is often present in a troubled heart….so precious ❤
I loved that Heston's work place is obviously not just passionate about their innovative food but also compassionate about their team! I loved how he watched his team serve the table like a proud mentor or Dad! Only a positive environment creates such confidence as this with each individual being just as important as the next! 😊❤
I'm only 11 days deep into 2025 here in my corner of the world, but I am not exaggerating when I say that this is most likely going to be my favorite piece of media this year. It just has everything, from replay value, to genuine spectacle, and even satisfying moments that only spontaneous filming and unscripted content creation can deliver. I am so glad this video exists. Thank you guys for sharing this wonderful experience of yours with the world.
I don’t often tear up watching food based uploads but this hit hard at the end. Ollie you are also an inspiration. I’ve loved Heston since I was little and I think for a moment he seen himself through the eyes of admiration from another. Such a powerful thing to be able to do. Firm favourite to date❤
I think this is probably my favourite video you have ever done! It felt so magical and it was so immersive. Thank you guys so much
The fact he cant see his own genius and how positively his art hast inspired and effected other breaks my heart. Ive adored this man as long as i can remember andnjust hapoy hes finaly being able to appreciate his own work. Youre a hero to me and many more heston! Much love big man
For what its worth. Gents this was beautiful all round. The honesty, comradery, the love the grace and the human-ness of this. It was incredibly touching. Heston's work is simply incredible, he has worked his socks off for decades and has built a legacy that will stand the test of time. Heston, a man who by the sounds of this video, has been his own greatest enemy mentally for years, yet, has persisted, battled on and conquered so many greats feats. Now, I hope he can take a step back and realise what he has accomplished. Gods speed, Heston and the boys at JOLLY.
It was so nice that Ollie was calm and not making fun of the food!
This is the first time I’ve been able to appreciate Ollie’s comments. He was very respectful and kind. He enjoyed the food and the illusions so much ! I appreciated his respect and kindness. Josh is always trying to be the one making the videos professional and letting the chefs and staff know how much he appreciated the opportunity and experience! This was the best video up to date! The experience was amazing and the awareness raised for recognition for mental health care was perfect! The more we acknowledge mental health care as routine, the more we can help all heal regularly and/or maintain all our lives daily!
The word legend is overused but where Heston is concerned it's utterly appropriate. Thank God we have people like him on the planet to inspire the rest of us in such unusual ways. I hope he continues to heal and feel better. What an absoulte dream to have a meal like that with teh creator himself.
I agree. Yet go on any RUclips video of his and you'll read endless whingeing about his techniques in the comments.
No one will read this but, when Clair De Loon played in the background I started to cry. That was my Jen’s song. Her birthday is coming on the 19th of this month January. Cancer took her from me on the 31 of January. It will be 4 years since she would leave me and go home to the Lord God. I don’t know why I told y’all this. Lovely video! I’m watching from the States. USA 🇺🇸
I've read it and will be thinking of you in Canada on the 31st. xoxo
I’m in the states and I too will be thinking of you on the 31st. I’m sorry for your loss.
My mom's birthday is also the 19th of January. She was also taken by cancer but 26 years ago. I'm glad you told us a bit of your story. Hopefully it helped a bit. May your memories guide you through. (also from the US)
My favourite classical song. One of my proudest moments was my virtually-perfect performance of it on the piano back in high school. I think the video is on RUclips somewhere.
@@likeasoldier777 thank dear. Prayers appreciated
This is easily my favorite episode you lads have ever done. Heston, I don't know if you will read the comments but you have such a beautiful sensibility. Thank you for sharing it in a setting like this so that the world can fall in love with you and your play. (I can't possibly say, "work" even though I am certain that you worked harder than anyone to make this playful experience for us.) I am genuinely overwhelmed because there was no sense of this being a gimmick. It is as if we were looking straight into your soul. Overwhelmingly beautiful.
I always knew of Heston and saw a lot of his work. It's always been fascinating and fantastical.
But this video gave me a completely new appreciation for Heston himself. He seems like a really lovely person who just enjoys the creative process.
Genuinely one of those few videos on this platform that makes you want to appreciate it ....i was emotional when he talked about roald dahl and her wife ....you guys are killing it
What an honor. The two of you are always on your A game when interviewing people, but hats off to you both when wrapping this up and handling such a delicate subject with such kindness. Josh you are amazing as always, but Ollie.... Ollie Ollie Ollie... you are masterful with your questions and talking points. The way you are able to ask such meaningful questions, pose such meaningful statements, and the genuine heart felt love you show is just breathtaking.
I truly believe that Josh and Ollie may be the most genuinely loving people on RUclips. Their only goal ever seems to be to spread joy and love in everything they do, and I cannot express how much watching your videos brings happiness to me even when it seems the hardest for me to be happy.
This is my favourite video of yours. Growing up and seeing Heston on TV and all his magical crazy food really caught my imagination and made me take cooking as a hobby.. I still admire him today after all those years. And as someone who was also diagnosed with autism late in life, and struggled with depression most of my life, hearing Heston's story really hit home.
This episode literally made me cry. I'm 61 years old and felt like a kid again. I love how Heston is so humble and gentle. He is so intelligent, creative, caring and kind. I love how he walked them through each dish and explained it in depth. I feel like I went to a science lab. Thank you Heston for opening this up to the world. Thank you so much for this gift.
The ending of this episode was so emotional and beautiful - thank you Josh and Ollie for sharing this experience with us, and thanks to Heston for being such a creative, brilliant mind in the world of food!
32:36 take Heston to Korea
Great idea!! That would be an incredible new KE series to look forward to!
What an absolute HONOR! Not only for y'all to be there and joined by this genius, but even us as viewers to watch and take in. Not gonna lie, got a bit emotional. Guess that was that Wonka magic. Thank you.
I’m so happy that this popped up on my recommended. You two guys were the perfect match for this honour. Heston is truly such an amazing, intelligent scientific wonder of a man who has been through so much and been criticised immensely. You all gave each other a once in a lifetime experience to remember forever, not just for you but for Heston too.
