"House of the Rising Sun" is a folk/blues song of mysterious origin. It seems to have popped up all over the world throughout history and over time has become the melody we know and love today. I hope you enjoyed this bass-ier version of it. Thanks for watching!

LYRICS:
"There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know I'm one"
"My Mother was a tailor,
Sewed my new blue jeans
Daddy was a gamblin' man,
Way down in New Orleans"
"The one and only thing a gamber ever has
Is a suitcase and a trunk
The one and only time a gambler's satisfied
Is when he's on a drunk"
"Mothers tell your children
Not to do what I've done
Spend your life in fear and misery
In the House of the Rising Sun"
Geoff should totally do Toss a Coin to your witcher. I can see it working really well with a deep voice.
The open shirt and necklace gave me Geralt vibes

Geoff, you had asked during the premiere why people were requesting this specific song for you, particularly since most covers are higher and more "screamy". My two cents is that there's something about you that feels very old-school and classic - maybe in part because there were so many great old singers who were basses or baritones. This means that you're going to keep getting requests for tunes that are more than just music - they're cultural (well, American culture). 16 Tons and this one are perfect examples. Something about you taking classic songs and bringing them back to life for a new generation just feels right!
Yes, exactly this! That "old school" thing is something I see in Geoff as well. Another song of his that's like this is the Headless Horseman.
Now I'd love to hear him sing Riders in the Sky.
Ditto!
I agree. I rush to see each new video. You hit the nail on the head Maeco. There was a time music had heart and soul. Now it’s just noise mostly.
Exceptionally well said.
It's his relaxed delivery - he doesn't try to sing LOUD if it's not needed.
I'm always in awe with Geoff's singing. High or low range, he is phenomenal! However, every time there are 4 or 5 Geoffs, I find subtle differences that make me forget for a few seconds that there is one singer. His voice is the gift and the "Geoffs " are the pretty bow. Lame analogy? Perhaps. But I said what I said. 👏👏👏👏
LOL
@@GeoffCastellucci I know it might be crazy considering you just came out with this, but I came across a song that I think Geoffplex would have fun with its called STYLE from the musical Robin and the Seven Hoods. Dean Martin , Sinatra, and Bing Crosby sing it in the original
@@GeoffCastellucci Probably _lots_ more that "multiple Geoffs" could have fun with... GO FOR IT !!
Love to hear more of what they can do, each with a different tone or range. Would be interesting.
I completely agree!
@@GeoffCastellucci hey Geoff Castellucci what do you think about sing Old Man River from the show boat what do you think
I don't understand how it is PHYSICALLY, ANATOMICALLY, BIOLOGICALLY possible for one voice box to produce such a wide, wide, wide range of sound. ??? I just don't get it.
Yeah but check colm mcguiness account
Okay so im a bass singer. I cqn explain it this way, if youve ever had laughing gas at the dentist yoyr voice goes VERY deep. You just have to figure out how to do THAT without any gas. Took me about 2 years to hit the notes he does
Its hard but you seperate your voice from your head and only use your throat/and body. Its hard to explain but when we hit those low notes, yes we hear it and feel our own bones rumbling. Its FUN!!!
He naturally has the low bass voice, but he most likely had a music teacher that taught him how to open his voice to higher pitches and it worked.
@@SuperKrakou I checked him out (McGuiness) and thank you for that. Saw also Bobby Bass, and then all singing together, and it was awesome! A first for me, again, thanks! Peace.

He did a nice magic trick with the lighter. He discreetly tucked it under his right leg. I missed what he did in my first viewing. Very subtle.
I like his higher voices too. They sound so relaxed and natural like it is no effort.

Hey Geoff. You probably won't see this, but as a bass singer you are my main inspiration. I just figured out how to do rough subharmonics and managed to hit an A1. I feel like this is a huge accomplishment at 14 years old and I just wanted to say you inspired me to achieve this
Edit: I'm now nearly 16 and can comfortably hit C2 in chest and F-E1 in sub/fry
Nice job man. As a basso profundo, I can suggest keeping your training regime at least once weekly but don't give it up, six months without practice can undo years of work.
@@videosfromelsewhere926 I practice at least that daily just humming to myself in my spare time. Since this comment I have comfortably achieved a G1 and when I'm warm an E1 at a stretch
Well done!!
Nice, man! 15 myself, and my subharmonics aren’t as clean as Geoff’s (nor do I expect them to be), but I can tell you, if you just work on it daily, you’ll get somewhere, and even develop your chest voice’s low notes a bit! I just sing along to Geoff’s basslines on many VP songs, and it’s helpped a metric s$@&-ton. Keep atter!

To say that Geoff is talented is such an understatement! Phenomenal!
I am constantly blown away by the the growth and evolution of Geoff's singing, sound, and arrangement in these songs. I have never seen someone grow so much with each new song they put out on RUclips. Usually you start to see a pattern, but you do pop, country, folk,... you just grow and change in everything. Your bass parts get more tricky, and the back-up parts get more crisp and precise. Your sound and arrangement stays simple, but it gets more clean and spot on with each new song. And the nuance of each video is just fantastic. Whether it be outfits and background, or heads sitting on a desk, the video work is just fantastic. I share these videos with my whole family, not because of your low bass, but because of the entire magnificence and entertainment in the entirety of the video. Most of my family are musicians, singers, and songwriters, and to know the level of work that goes into something like this, and to see someone do it so well and still grow with each video is just so fun to watch. I am in total amazement, good sir! Thank you for sharing another amazing video.

My father is a bass singer, and his 3 brothers also sing, their voices ranging upward to my uncle George who is a barbershop tenor, so hearing you sing brings me to such a happy place, remembering all the family gatherings when they would all sing, along with my aunt Cathy- second soprano. I used to have a very good range from first soprano to baritone, and sang for the first half of my life nearly every day. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to sing for over 20 years now due to a terrible virus which left me with nodes on my vocal cords, but my love of music still continues to grow, even as I can no longer participate actively in it's creation. Хожу все время напеваю. Джефф - вы потрясающий. В вас гармонично все: голос, внешность, подача
Hi Geoff. I dont know if you or anyone is ever gonna see this comment, but if you do ill be very happy. Your songs make my day. I can have a terrible day, crying all the time and not feeling it, and I listen to any of your songs and instantly get in a better mood. You make me feel loved, safe and you give me a chance to escape the world with your music. So thank you very much, I cant wait go meet you someday and get an amazing hug from you that im sure you give lots of🥰🥰 Love you, a huge fan from Norway
It's been over 2 months since I first heard this one and I still can't get enough. Still playing on repeat!
Can we please talk about how he straight looks into your soul?
Oh, my gosh! This is my first time hearing a cover this powerful of this song. Amazing! I am such a huge fan. Wishing you all the best Geoff. Hugs to you, Kathy, William and all your loved ones and your friends.💕💕💕
It's always a good day when we get to hear the Geofftet singing. Another wonderful interpretation of a classic piece of music. I love how you make these your own. And I thank you both in your individual work and through VoicePlay for the joy you bring. I've been dealing with some health issues and I find myself listening to both you and VoicePlay everyday to pick me up. You are a blessing to us who have been fortunate enough to discover your music.
I was little when my dad was listening to the Man in Black. This is probably one of best versions I've heard.
This is the song I was waiting for! Your voice is a miracle.
This is just a comment to let you know you have fans in Russia, too.
