You really have the best ideas,Christine! You certainly see things with the eye of creativity giving them another purpose! Lots of inspiration here!! Thank you very much ❤
Such ingenious ideas Christine, and all so pretty too, I shall definitely be making myself something like this - it's like a magical portable sewing room, love it! Re those little circular skirts for glasses you mentioned - funnily enough, I just got hold of some vintage magazines from the 1930s and one of them includes instruc tions to make them! You're with me in my craft room, where I am STILL clearing and tidying (4 days in now!) - can't wait to get it done so I can play again :)
You’ve been getting some really great vintage finds Annie. And what a marathon sorting and organising effort too! Happy if I’ve been able to provide some good company. I’m thinking the huswif will be very handy hanging in my craft room near my desk as well as when travelling. Looking forward to your next video. Cheers, Christine
I love your idea to use the folded over doily for a pin cushion. Wool to trap orts is another excellent idea. I think I'll be incorporating those into my huswif. 😊
Very good Huswif. I’m in the middle of making some needle cases that are slightly less than an actual Huswif but a tad more than just a needle case, maybe I’ll call them Neewifs!! I love seeing inside other people’s Huswifs and this is a real treat. Once I’ve finished all my Neewifs I’m starting an Huswif for my RAF son. It’s got to be practical, NOT fussy and definitely no doilies in sight😝. I’ve got lovely Tartan fabric for the outside and an Airforce blue lining for everything that’s inside. I’ve gathered up many bits and pieces and my lovely daughter has given me some ideas. I’ve got to get my act together and finish my current projects and Huswif will begin. Hope you enjoyed your trip to the Zoo. Thanks for the lovely look at your Huswif.
Thanks Christine - oh yes, a huswif for your so. is a great idea and definitely none of the usually fripperies 😆 I love seeing what others put in there’s too 🤗 cheers, Christine
Your housewife has all the bases covered! When I saw your magnet idea, I thought I must add one, so I sewed one into a tiny yo-yo and attached it to the front of my needle book. Thanks for yet another great idea.
Thanks Candice! So happy you got some inspiration from this video. I think I’m going to find the needle keep very handy when crafting on the go 🤗 cheers, Christine
I have to give credit to someone else who mentioned a thread catcher - must find the comment and mention them in the next video. Hope you are well my friend. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
Wow what a beautiful Huswif, best I have seen so far and your ideas are fantastic, I am going to try and make one for myself, using some of your ideas, not sure if I have all that I will require but what pleasure I will have searching for them , Thankyou Elizabeth T Kent England
Thank you so much Elizabeth - it makes me so happy to hear that I’ve provided some inspiration and I love the idea of you gathering items that will be just right for your huswif. cheers, Christine
Oh I’m so happy if I’ve provided some inspiration - I’ll hopefully have my finishing video up soon as I’ve added even more! Must stop looking at it and having ideas 😆
Haha I always tend towards bigger than Ben Hurr! That’s why the texture projects have been good as I have gone smaller for those. Had too many lovely linens and pieces to use for this project and the table runner seemed to set the size. 😆Cheers, Christine
Haha it is definitely supersized - I am thinking it will also hang up on one of my tall sets of drawers in my craft room as it will be a handy place to be able to access my supplies while crafting as well as when on the go. Cheers, Christine
Thanks Lucy. You’re lucky to have a version of a hussif in the family even if more utilitarian in style - mum remembers dad and grandpa having one bit doesn’t think we have them any more. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
Love all your ideas. I agree with the tapestry pocket. Mine is much smaller and will be minimalistic compared to yours but I think it’ll be a good size for on the go projects. 😊
Thanks so much - sometimes you think you have something figured out but the fabric or pieces have other ideas. I often find my ideas evolve too as I’m stitching - the process of thread passing through fabric and repetitive motion creates this wonderful stillness for pondering and creative ramblings.
For a show with murder in its title it is actually really lovely with all the scenery and little towns. Perfect sewing accompaniment. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
Your Hussif is looking very lovely, it's going to be a really special treasure, having the treasures you found on holiday and whatever project you are working on at the time! I really like those tapestry pockets! TFS 😊
I'm sure it is. I was starting to really enjoy stitching again but was hospitalized twice this month for dangerously low blood sugar and the second time, came home and had low results to the point that made me unbalanced and I fell and broke my stitching hand! There's also the possibility that I dislocated the area that they fixed before I had the hip fractures. I go back and see the hand specialist in two weeks and I'm hoping to get the cast off my wrist and boot off my broken foot too. Until then, I'm enjoying watching my friends do their craft.
@createandcraftwithchristine thanks so much! I need all I can get! Hopefully the endocrinologist will be able to give me answers tomorrow. I hope you are all doing well!
Hi Kristy - I found it at the op shop (charity/thrift store) in Beechworth in Alpine Victoria. It is a form of lace work. I’ve used it to cover the upper outside of my needle roll and then wrapped the extra width over to fork a pocket on the inside top of my needle roll. Cheers, Christine
Thanks and sorry I forgot to include the link to the free button card printable in the description - will add now and here it is for you Carol: shabbychicinspired.blogspot.com/2013/09/button-card-freebie_14.html?m=1
Welcome! Lovely to have you here. For the needle roll or huswif I used a linen table runner that I found in a thrift store or op shop. It’s good to use a fabric with some substance if you’re making a huswif of this size. Have fun stitching. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
Hi Christine, I can’t find a video on putting together your Dictionary of Stitches book. Did you make a video ? Could you link it if there is one. I’m really interested to see what you did with all that hard work. I’m following along with your videos . Thanks
Hi Jacqui - I’ll plan to share a video this weekend with how I’m putting it together - I’ve been a bit slow in getting back to it but have the pages all laid out ready to stitch down. Thanks for the prompt. Cheers, Christine
its looking awesome 👍🏻🤗
Thanks so much Valita 🤗

Thank you Christine for your video. I started to watch your latest video and realised your project is the size I need /want so I am going backwards.😂

So many great ideas. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you and for everyone who has shared their ideas too 💛
That’s a heck of a project. So creative! I love your choices of fabrics and styles, and the loop for yarn is very clever.

Love that you watch Midsomer Murders with hand sewing. I do exactly the same here in NZ
Such a good viewing accompaniment to stitching 💙🧵🪡 cheers, Christine
This is the largest one that I have seen and love it , you are so very clever!

❤❤❤ coming together fantastically 😊😊
Thank you so much - having lots of fun 🤗 cheers, Christine
Thanks for sharing your huswiff with us. It's really lovely and I really like your use of so many small doilies.
Thanks Elaine - really thrilled to be incorporating lots of lovely vintage linens and doilies from Alpine Victoria. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
Looking lovely Christine, I’m sure your huswif will come in very handy when travelling along with bringing lots of great memories from your holiday.❤
Thanks Joanne - I am sure it will prove very handy both when travelling and also hanging up in my craft room 🤗
What a beautiful hussif. My dad taught me that version of the name when I was about 8 years old. He had a rather boring green one. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks Lucy. You’re lucky to have a version of a hussif in the family even if more utilitarian in style - mum remembers dad and grandpa having one bit doesn’t think we have them any more. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
@@createandcraftwithchristine I’ve no idea what happened to it sadly.
absolutely fabulous, love it
Thank you so much! 💙🧵🪡
Wow Christine, you’ve thought of everything and then some, an absolutely gorgeous compendium of stitchery - it’s going to be great ❤️
Thanks Sally - I actually had some more ideas after the video! 😆 When I stitch I find my mind loves to imagine possibilities 💙🧵🪡 cheers, Christine
Love all your ideas. I agree with the tapestry pocket. Mine is much smaller and will be minimalistic compared to yours but I think it’ll be a good size for on the go projects. 😊
Thanks Martha - I love how we can all do different versions of a project like a huswif 💙🧵🪡. Cheers, Christine
@@createandcraftwithchristine it’s fun seeing all the variations!
Such wonderful ideas Christine, and I really enjoyed seeing your pondering and thought processes ❤

That is...big. In fact the biggest hussif i seen yet :D
Haha, bigger than Ben Hurr!
It's all coming together beautifully Christine ❤
Thanks Karen - now to get things stitched and work out final layout 🤗
I put on Midsummer as well. I love seeing the English gardens and countryside. 😊

Can you tell me more about the lace calendar 1991.
And you got some app-plee-kay pins 😂❤
Hahaha - I think of you every time I say that now, even when alone in my craft room I have to say it both ways just for you 😆
😂😂😂
