I keep my cakes in the fridge until 4 hours before serving. So ideally, keep the cake in the fridge until transporting it and depending on how far in advance you get to the venue, refrigerate the cake there until 4 hours before it will be served. You can stack the tier cake at any time, as long as it's kept in the fridge until 4 hours before serving. Sometimes it's easier to stack at home and then transport.
I haven't tried paper straws because they aren't as strong as plastic, especially if they get damp inside the cake. If you don't want to use plastic straws I would recommend using wooden dowels instead
Completely up to you! I use 3 inch tall pans to bake two tall layers and then I divide the cake layers in half horizontally to make 2 layers each, so I end up with 4 layers and that makes nice tall cakes. If you use 2 inch cake pans you can bake 2 or 3 or 4 layers individually instead of dividing them later. I hope that makes sense!
They only need to be as tall as the cake so if they're 10 inches, depending on the height of your cake you might be able to get two supports out of each straw
Absolutely! I like boba straws because they're really strong but if you have good quality regular-sized straws those should work too. I don't recommend bbq skewers because they have such a narrow base so they aren't as good support
@@justkyra6265 they're pillars of support to hold up the base board that the top tier is sitting on, to prevent the top cake sinking into the bottom cake
Oh dear! I would slide a cake lifter or wide spatula under the top cake to separate it and lift it off, add dowels, and then replace it and touch up the join or add a border to disguise it
Hi I wanted to ask a question, what happens is that I have to make a cake of three floors but of chocolate covered in fondant, and wanted to know if your chocolate recipe is compact to be able to make it. I checked your page to tell you if the line for fondant is the one that says perfect chocolate cake.
@@BritishGirlBakes okayy thank youu for replying quickly and everything.im making a maths themed cake for a competition in March and am starting practicing stacking🍰

Very helpful British girl bakes thanks for explaining video with both fondant and buttercream!!!!!
Thank you so much... It was very helpful for me. ❤❤
You're welcome 😊
Excellent!!
Very good tutoring! Thanks for sharing.
I'm happy you liked it!
Wow very useful 👍
I only have 2 came boards, so instead of the base board, can I use just a cake stand or plate? Love the tutorial x
Yes that's fine! Just make sure the bottom cake is secured to the cake stand or plate with a a dollop of buttercream so that it doesn't slide around
Can I use normal straw?
Thanks, your video help me to prepare cake birthday .i would like to thank you
I'm so happy it was helpful!
awesome!
BTW like if someone order cake like in Tuesday and want the cake to be delivered in Friday then when should I make the cake can you plz help 😑
How much fondant to use for 8 inch square cake? Please reply
You are awesome dear
So do you remove the cake board from the bottom of the top cake before you stack it on top. I didn’t see a board under the top tier
No, the board is still under the top cake. I covered the cake with fondant all the way down over the cake board so that you can't see it :)
British Girl Bakes ok awesome. Thanks 🙏
Hi I was so wondering. Will buttercream hold its own when set up for at wedding venue. When do you suggest that it's set Up?

Can i use paper straw for support each tire?

Did you use tylose powder (cmc) in fondant?
thank you very much now i get it !
Perfect!!
how many bubba straws would you have if your top tier is 6 and your bottom is 8 ? Do you need a center dowel?
Thank you
Thank you!
Hi.. are you stacking this with cake board or without cake board?
WIth :)
What size of Dowel rods to you use width wise for the main 4 points? Thank you x
Hi how much fondont should I use for 8inch cake and 6 inch cake
Hi, so it means is it okay if i didn't put any dowel/straw at the middle throughout the 2 tier cake?i'm doing 8 at the bottom & 6 on top 😊
I don't put a central dowel through 2 tiers but I travel very very carefully - no bumpy roads, sudden stops etc
Nice One
But why do you put that straw in the cake
What did you put at the middle of the cake?
And how thick is the fondant for the cakes?
Which cake pan is better for layer cakes
8 x 2 or 8x3
Please reply I’m very confused on this

@@BritishGirlBakes thank you so much for replying. I am so excited to try. Your tutorial was so helpful. 😀
i have a question and i really hope you can answer me. what happens if you dont use support? like just putting smaller cake on bigger cake?
it will slide and may tip over because the cake will not be able to support the weight on its own.
@@sweetpotato_ alright thx
How far down should we put the boba straws? Do I have to push it all the way down?
Yes, all the way until it touches the cake board :)
Hola! Quedó hermoso! Por favor las recetas de queque de chocolate y vainilla! :)

Con mucho gusto !
Could we use anything else to secure the top layer like straws or bbq skewers?
Absolutely! I like boba straws because they're really strong but if you have good quality regular-sized straws those should work too. I don't recommend bbq skewers because they have such a narrow base so they aren't as good support
Question- what’s the liquid that you put on the cake?? And how do you make it??
It's simple syrup and I cover it in my tutorial on 10 Hacks to Decorate Cakes Like A Pro :)
Do you still need to have cake board underneath the cakes when you stack the 1st and 2nd tier of cake?
Righem Bautista
Usually you do so there is not as much weight or pressure on the bottom tier. This helps prevent your cake from smushing.
Can that cake be any harder yak
Why do we use straw
Why we put straws on centre I want the reason of putting 4 straws on centre
No one ever mentions size of each cake used to build perfect 2 tier or how much fondant is used:(. But thanks for this video. Very helpful
Hey so what’s the purpose of using the straws?
.. I thought it was supposed to hold the top tier .
Yes that's correct!
British Girl Bakes but it’s pushed in the bottom layer
@@justkyra6265 they're pillars of support to hold up the base board that the top tier is sitting on, to prevent the top cake sinking into the bottom cake
What should you do if you forget to put the bottom dowels in and have finished the cake😩

What size cake tins are these?
The top was 6" and I can't remember if the bottom was 8" or 10" but I think 8"
