- When I started stacking cakes, RUclips wasn't even BORN yet so I had to work it out for myself. Lucky for you, I've already made all of the mistakes so that you don't have to! Here is the best way I know how to stack tiered cakes, for a super-sturdy, transportable, level cakestravaganza! #cupcakejemmabakes #stackedcakes
Check below for handy links...
You will need...
-2 or 3 cakes which you have levelled, filled, crumb coated, final coated and chilled for an hour or so (I did 6", 8" and 10")
-Biggest tier, iced directly onto a cake drum
-Smaller tiers, iced directly onto thin, hole-punched cake boards of the same diameter and then stuck on (with buttercream) to slightly bigger cake drum, for easy carrying
-Buttercream in the same colour as your tiers
-Royal icing, made fairly stiff consistency
-long thin and thick plastic or wooden dowels/supports/pillars/thick straws
-secateurs or very strong scissors
sharp knife or hole-punch for...er...hole punching
-greaseproof paper and scissors
- palette knife
-soft round paint brush
-paper towel
-piping bags
-white chocolate (coloured if you like) for dripping

I love you so much Jemma. You have made my life easier. My mom just passed away in September 2021, and she left me a bakery, of 33 years. I used to do basic cakes for her, but we have recently been getting bigger tiered cakes and I was very scared to take orders, I made my first one last weekend and it was a hit and I got 3 more cake orders from people who were at that party. Everytime I need help, I can't.ask my mom, I look for your videos. Thanks so much for all the helpful tips. You have encouraged me and I am able to salvage my moms cake business.
I don't know you but am proud of you. Thank you for taking up the challenge and running your moms Bakery after her. She will be so happy to see her Girl is doing just great by herself. Keep it up girl.
@@mesolehelen6088 Today was a hard day for me and you don't know how much this comment means to me. Sending you hugs wherever you are. I appreciate the comment. ❤️❤️
@@nizapacheco2625 aww dear, its okay to cry and take some hours break to relax yourself and come back. You can even cry if that bring some sort of relieve to you, just don't let it break you no matter what. Sending lots of Love and hugs
I wish you all the best.
Your mama is with you in spirit ❤ I'm sure she is so proud!

Thank you, thankyou and Hi from Indonesia. I started a home bakery business from home after give up applying for a job. I did not have to join baking classes thanks to your channel cuz I can learn a lot especially with your masterclass 😘
Graciaaasss!!
I am mesmerized by all the goodies in the shelves.

Girl you are amazing!
You're the best jemmaaaa!!! Thank you for sharing your skills with us ^3^ God bless!!
I love your cake and the accent as well so kind
You make this look so easy!!!!!
You've made my life SO much easier. My daughter asked me to make her wedding cake and that takes it from my skill level up just enough of a notch that I was super concerned. PLUS... I will have to travel with the cake to the wedding and that was a little concerning as well. I'm feeling much more sure about doing this and I will make sure to tag you on insta when it's done.
How did it go in the end?
I have been looking for ideas for plastic dowel rods & I found your video w/ the idea. I feel like it safer. I have seen them before at the stores but wasn’t sure, now I watched your video 😉💡 thank you!
I really enjoyed your video, great job explaining everything!
The cake looks lush!!!
So clear, so concise like always. Love you!
Thank you! ☺️
So helpful ! Thanks Jemma 🤓
Thank you Jemma! I really enjoyed this lesson. I subscribed and now I will be watching all of your videos😊
This is such important information! Thank you so much for the tutorial. Basics are essential for everyone. And this is so detailed.
Thanks for sharing have learnt some new things. I quite appreciate.
Awesome you make it look so easy thanks 😍
It’s mesmerizing 🤩
I love the glitter dust in the air at the end. lol So sparkly!
That wasn’t anything as exciting as glitter dust. It was the reflection off of cars going past on the dual carriageway by the kitchen as the sun came in! 🤣
First time watching you and I've subscribed! Love your vibe and I like your way of stacking cakes. Thanks!
Those bags of callebaut on the shelves are making me jealous
When storing the cake before serving, do you recommend covering it somehow before puttning it in the fridge? Or, how long is it ok to leave it in room temperarure? 😊
Thank you, I have a three tier cake to do for my niece's wedding and this has helped me a lot 😊☺😊
Good luck! 😘
Thanks for the tips jemma
Now I gotta attempt this!!!
Can’t wait to meet you at your meet and greet!
Have got to check out that drip video, cause it is PERFECT!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Great news! Glad you liked it ☺️
Gorgeous!
This was very helpful! I usually just do decorating for fun and friends and usually just one tier. I've done several two tier grooms cakes but that's it. I just got a call from my niece asking me to do her wedding cake. I said a very nervous "ok" 😳

Lovely have learnt a lot from this video thank you so much dear
wow there's a sprinkle heaven behind you!!!
This was so helpful! Thank you for this
Very interesting! Can you please do a video about how to best cut/serve one of these big cakes to get the most out of it? Thanks!
I noticed you didn't get a reply so I'll drop in with some info I found online about this. If it's a cake like a wedding cake that for instance the couple will be cutting in to, they can make their triangular/wedge cut then you just take the cake into the back room or kitchen and cut it in a gridline pattern. That way you can tell how many portions you'll get. Hope this helps somewhat.
I’ve done a few stacked cakes and they’ve been ok.......but now I know the proper way to do it!! Thank u soo much Jemma x
Great video! This definitely gave me a new idea for my channel!💪😎
Thank you for this! I'm making my first wedding cake in September and I'm basically already shitting my pants! The royal icing and gap filling tips will help considerably!!! PS, I love your snarkyness! :)
And how did it go? I'd love to know!
My first cake is next month, September, and I'm feeling like you felt! Would love to know how yours turned out.😊

LOVED IT😍
Amazing!!! Thank you 😘
I actually needed this 👌
Do you have a video about unstacking, removing supports and cutting a cake of this style?
Cut from the top and serve until gone. Why would it be unstacked?
ashley jackson the only reason I could see someone unstacking is if somebody wanted a slice from a lower tier but didn’t want to cut the top ones all up
@@ajackson1946 Ashley Paulin might be thinking that if it's a wedding cake then one tier (usually the top) is reserved to be eaten when the couple's first child is christened, although often just for the couple's 1-year anniversary. I've been to weddings where the cake only looked like it was stacked but it was really 3 separate tiers, decorated to look stacked, because it was intended to give one tier (the middle, I think) to one side of the family who couldn't attend as they lived abroad, while another was cut for guests, and one tier kept for the later first child christening. But sometimes people don't think of that and just produce a stacked cake then wonder who to unstack it!
pr va wait what if someone doesn’t have a baby until a year later, would the top tier be eaten or given in honour of something else? 🤔
@@Ilikecustardtarts-xl2oo if the cake is a black cake/ rum cake, it'll last
Amazing!
Thanks for sharing the tutorial .
