You CAN get your hair lighter if your hair has been dyed. Use a non damaging color remover (NOT a color stripper). Without bleach or ammonia. For example Color Oops, Color B4. There's more brands. The most important part is the rinsing, shampooing the color molecules out of the hair. If you use peroxide on your hair too soon after the color remover.. the color molecules might re-oxidize causing your hair to re-darken. Because they haven't been rinsed out fully. So make sure you wash your hair plenty times before using any box dye/bleach concoction containing peroxide! SO ALWAYS USE A COLOR REMOVER BEFORE RESORTING TO BLEACH.. IF YOU HAVE DYED YOUR HAIR.

Hair dyes on level 5 althrought they are called light brown or chocolate turn to darkest ashy brown number three unless your hair is completly grey on realy naturaly blonde on level 8 to 10 while dyes on level 4 or 3 can give almost black hair. So if person who is not grey or naturaly real blonde wants medium brown or chocolate must chose dyes level under number 6 with neutral and cool under tones such as 6.0 for medium brown or 6.7 and 6.8 for chocolate hair and for light brown hair netral or cool undertone dyes under number seven. Lighter browns which are narked as dark blondes or medium blondes can be achieved with mixing same lavel colours. Dark blonde recives mixing 6.0 natural dark blonde with 6.3 golden dark blonde in ratio of 1:1 with 6 % hidrogen for medium brown hair lavel 4, 9 % hidrogen for dark brown hair lavel 3 or 3 % hidrogen for hair on lavel 5 to 7. Medium blonde also recives mixing 7.0 with 7.3 in ratio 1:1 with 12 % hidrogen for dark brown lavel 3, 9 % hidrogen for medium brown lavel 4, 6 % for light brown hair lavel 5 and 3 % for dark blonde to medium blonde hair lavel 6 to 7. A warmer blonde So like a honey or strawberry blonde, something with a bit of warmth in it woild be lovely, you'd wanna stay away from cooler (ashier) colours at it may dull your skin tone and make you appear "sickly" if that makes sense?

My Godmother was a natural redhead and used Clairol Professional Liquid in 7G, 'Golden Apricot', a medium golden blonde, and it turned her grey into amber colored highlights while only slightly lifting her red base and brightening. You can get it at Sally's or any beauty supply and it's not a box dye so it's more gentle on your hair. Equal parts of the color to 20Volume developer for 35-45min. for grey coverage; 10Volume may work but will fade more quickly and may not give full grey coverage. Adding a bit of a NN color in whatever level you need into your formula will give the best grey coverage.

Because the high developer is the one that lifts the color....If you use 10volume it will darken or stay the same. 20 volume the same or 1-2 level up(depending on the color and your hair) 30 volume 2-3 levels(depending on the hair and the color too, but that can damage your hair) 40 volume 3-4 levels and it does damage your hair. Bleach is another story all together. Personally I use 10 volume ,sometimes 20 volume, to cover my greys.. Never more than that. But my natural hair is level 6-7 and I do go for level 6-7 reds.
