Hi! How can I contact you for a consultation on color preference? I just lightened my hair with bleach. "Not the first time" but where the roots were grown out its lighter on the yellow side. The lower part is a orange tint. I did two types of toners. Blue and purple for upper and lower. Now I'm basically trying to get my hair to look similar to yours. Not sure what to do at this point.

Thank you so much for this video and all of them! I am a Hairdresser's kid. My Dad was a Hairdresser. However, we lost my Dad when I was 18 years old. I worked in his salon on and off when I was a kid. After his passing, I helped my Mom run the salon and worked there for about 12 years. Up until about 2014, I always had my hair done in a salon. Since then, I have not been able to afford to foil my hair. In about 2014 I began to frost my hair with a cap using a box kit from a drug or grocery store. Mostly, I did get the results that I wanted. One really great option for me if I do not want to tone, is to use a really good purple shampoo to cancel yellow. (Which just happened the last time that I frosted). And, a really good blue shampoo to cancel orange or brassy tones.

Developer (or activator) is basically hydrogen peroxide. Developers are sold by volume (eg 10, 20, 30) and the higher the volume, the more peroxide it contains. If you just put the dye (the paste color) onto your hair ... it would just fall off. It wouldn't EVER get soaked into your hair or last for even one wash. You need the peroxide to LIFT the outer cuticle layer of the hair. The higher the number - the more it lifts. Lifting that cuticle layer of hair allows the dye to penetrate the hair and become permanent. Let's say you've got dark brown hair and just want some blonde highlights. You'd probably pick a Vol 20 developer because you want to go 2-3 shades lighter than your natural hair for those highlights. If you want to change to a color that is similar to your natural hair, you'd pick a Vol 10, because you don't need to change the level that much so you don't need as much peroxide. Does that make a little more sense? Developer DOES also lighten your natural hair a little ... again, how much it will lighten all depends on how much peroxide it contains. (the higher the volume = the lighter it will make your hair)

I just wanted to say that my colorist lifted my hair from medium brown to a pretty light blonde in one session, one bleach with olaplex and then a toner. My hair hadn't been bleached in about a year, so the very ends were lighter, it was an "accidental ombre" lol. But I was putting temporary purples and lavenders in it. There is a little bit of orange in the back at the roots, but they are underneath, so they do not show much. She is an awesome colorist!

I did this for a few months with it gradually lightening more and more.. till I had a balayage effect.. but each time it looked good in itself.. so there was no " down time" in the process..
I've since had more grey appear so I no longer do the bleach mix but use a permanent lighter shade that colours the grey.. so i have more like highlights and lowlights....

Ashy blonde hair looks more classy to girls now that bleached blonde hair has been so over done.

LOL ... that is crazy!!! Melanin, no matter how much a person has, should lift the same way for everyone. I even googled this!! The ONLY explanation that didn't include some crazy 1 in 300 gazillion disease was "Virgin Hair". Apparently, virgin hair lightens like a dream!

Lol. Then I dyed my hair black for almost 5 years and now I want my light blonde back so I'm paying hundreds of dollars to get my hair to it's natural color ahaha

Yes, I am Swedish and What is up with that color blonde? We are most naturally light born with very light blonde almost white hair which only gets minimally darker with age but is still much darker than anything on that chart.

Thank you for explaining Level 1-10 and Tone (Golden, Neutral, Ash), I understand it so well now. Would you make a step by step vid on going from 3-4 to an 8-9 and include all the products at the right time. So many videos start out explaining what they're doing and then boom they've skipped past toning or showing the hair before rinsing or the worst - begin any process and then skip past everything else to just show the hair after it's been washed, dried, cut & styled

It's just a cool toned black, it's basically half black and half Navy bluish, it looks black in indirect light, but in direct light, it's blue. Hope I explained that well enough

    • @reanaurbano7207
      @reanaurbano7207 6 лет назад +1

She explained it confusingly. I believe the ash explanation was directed towards blondes.. Because the darkest colour in the colour wheel is blue which is why blue black at level 1 is possible. Red is the natural undertone for majority of people.
Has anyone ever had a black red level 1? No.

    • @reanaurbano7207

    • @daniellemilia1974

It will work if you are dying the blue black over platinum blonde hair. I had platinum blonde last winter and wanted to go dark again, so I bought Revlon blue black, and it looked awesome. Could totally see the blue in the black, but...it will not work if your level is 6 or darker I think. I tried doing that color again after having a reddish brown shade, and using color oops as well, but the blue didn't show up at all and just looked black:/

I went lighter gradually by getting more highlights in different shades until I reached the level I wanted. My natural colour is a 4 and I got my base to an 8 with 9 and 10 highlights. I've started to go a bit darker so a level 6 at the roots and throughout just for a change. I've still kept my lighter mid length to ends and because it's warm toned it blends in beautifully. I did my roots at home and I mixed quarter 7.3 and 6.35 and the rest number 6. It's actually came out a lot softer looking than when my hairdresser did it. Love your videos Silviya and you're so beautiful 💖 💖 💖 💖

THANK YOU!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So clearly explained, and after completely ruined hair, I got the hint this what I needed to do, but never anyone confirmed: I had beautiful, long, virgin brown hair. I was going through a rough time/quarter life crisis and wanted a change. I never wanted to be blonde, blonde, and did have a lot of damage and breakage. A friend got it in my head that she was afraid I would have to cut it. The only picture I envisioned that would be cute on me with shoulderish length hair was a dark ash blonde, like the photo in the 3:00 minute mark of the vid. I went to Ulta (again, didn't know what I was doing, because I never normally even touch my hair) asking for dark ash blonde- got an bright orange, then toned after going back, to auburny hair- beyond the opposite tone I was looking for. Fast forward two years later, and some disasters and from bad stylists..a lot of my hair broke off to my ears. Years later and now my hair is too short and can't get the look I was trying to achieve in 2016!!!! So now I have to wait for fall of 2018, or winter even, to finally get the look I was going for years prior (cuz I'm still waiting for it to grow). Had I known I would have to lighten my hair to such a light level, and then go back down to get a darker ash color, and would have saved me so many years of agony. I'm literally so depressed about my hair, everyday.

Hi Silvia! I'm currently going through the "blonding" process to help hide my grays. My hair was naturally brunette when I was younger but now is probably nearly all gray and I was getting a "skunk stripe" starting to show 2 weeks after I colored (not acceptable, lol).
My hair dresser has been lightening my base and then doing highlights (mainly in the top) which is starting to result in some damage in the areas she has been bleaching. If you could pick one product from the Monat line to help with this, which would it be? The products are a little on the pricey side so I can't do the whole system right away. I'm currently using Joico K-pak conditioner and their purple shampoo. I'm on my 3rd lightening session and am at that kind of golden highlight stage with a darker base on bottom. Not quite sure how far into blond I intend to go...just trying to take it one appointment at a time and see how well the gray blends with the new color. Is this the best method for reaching gray coverage in your opinion? Also, I don't think she is using any kind of product like Olaplex. Should she be at this point? I love your channel by the way even though there is no way I would attempt this at home. You have provided so much education so I kind of had an idea of what to expect when I started on this journey. I do worry sometimes that even though my hair dresser is very competent, she doesn't specialize in blonding. Sorry this post is so long!

Thank God, someone has explained how hair reacts.
You want to achieve lvl 10:
-if you have healthy hair lvl 2 hair, it can be lifted +4lvls. Like lvl 2 + 4lvls of bleach = lvl 6 hair. Even if you have a healthy hair, you cant bleach the already bleach lvl 6 hair on the same day coz it will dry and fry your hair. So dont. It will take 2 session of different days to achieve lvl 10.
-if you have a brittle, dry lvl 6 hair, and you really wanted to lighten your hair, it can only lighten up by 1 or 2lvls. You'll wait for the nxt session where your hair can be bleach again. For me that will be a long process.
So before you go bleaching your hair, make it healthy.
Also, i still dont know the meaning of toning, neutralizing it. Does it mean that it will turn into brown. Just light brown hair?
