"But now you know there was a man named Jack Dawson, and that he saved me. In every way a person can be saved". To me this has got to be the best line in the entire film. Something about this makes me so happy and so sad at the same time, that he managed to save her life and change it forever in those few days but could not actually see it play out, and that she could not spend it with the man who made it possible and whom she loved. It's so heart breaking.
Which explains why she had the diamond all this time. Where others say it has all the money in the world, she saw it as priceless, because it was her only link to Jack.
Omg!! Same!!! That line always makes me start crying everytime I hear it! Like I can keep it together during the scene up until that line and then I just break.
mikemoair Perhaps that is for the best. Jack never asked her to hold on. She herself said that she would never let go and therefore held on to his memory for all those years, tormenting herself. Jack would not have wanted that. He would have wanted her to be happy. And she was. She was sooo happy, but not truly until she retold the story. Its a strange thing with us human beings, keeping something to ourselves and never telling anyone. I think she finally achieved closure when she confided in these people. Hence she let go of the pendant. She finally let go.
I love the subtle detail at 0:34 when Old Rose starts to speak that she have to hold back for not trying to cry when ending her story and chapter about Jack. A small but neat detail that is easy to miss but adds so much depth beyond and to the spoken words.
Today 106 years ago..❤️ this movie, this lovestory, this history.. has a special place in my heart ❤️ I wanna to do some projects about Titanic because it gives lots of emotions ❤️ Congratulations James and cast❤️
1:04 "He exists now only in my memory." "Death is that state in which one exists only in the memories of others, which is why it's not an end. No goodbyes. Just good memories." - Tasha Yar
You have to learn to understand context. She moved on with her life but she still kept him in her memory. It's not like she just settled for someone else and continued to be obsessed with Jack.
Just thinking. Rose gave her name as "Rose Dawson", partially in honor of Jack, but also because the use of her real name would have enabled Cal and Ruth to track her down if they saw her on the list of survivors. But here is something else. Wouldn't Cal and/or Ruth have at least been morbidly curious to see if Jack survived? True, he was an unlisted Third Class passenger, but in looking up the name "Dawson", they would have seen "Rose Dawson", and then they would have put two and two together?
The thing is that Jack wasn't on the passenger list among the third class because he and his friend won the tickets from Sven and Olaf in the opening scene of the movie. Which means that there won't exist any official records or survivor lists of Jack and Fabrizio on the ship.
He existed but remember at the beginning him and Fabrizio won the tickets from those Hungarians in that poker game When they boarded the ship their names on paper were those of the Hungarian guys who were originally supposed to be on the ship which was lucky for them Losing to Jack and Fabrizio saved their own lives
The truth is that a woman full of secrets because jack got her pregnant and she had a daughter with Isabella and Lizzie is really jack granddaughter she had long full life and after telling her story about jack she is ready to die I really believe she really did die at the end it is so amazing movie it is my favourite movie of all time rip jack and rose and Isabella
Rose and jack are just characters, learn your facts about the real titanic to. This is a movie we all love and enjoy but make sure you are aware of the real titanic too
@@stephcharlo And Jack Thayer was a first class passenger who wasn't involved in a shipboard romance. He was 17 years old and was traveling with his parents. He didn't try to get on a lifeboat. When the ship went down he went into the water. He climbed onto an overturned life raft with several other men. They were picked up by another life boat and then rescued by the Carpathian. His mother survived but his father froze to death in the water. Jack later married and had children. He became depressed after the loss of his son in World War II and the loss of his mother soon afterwards. He committed suicide in 1944.

"I don't even have a picture of him" 😭
😭😭😭😭 that’s so sad 😞
@@tommysin194 You know what I think old Rose could’ve also said, “If I could draw as good as Jack did, I would’ve drawn him just to keep it forever.”
That was my favorite line
Sooner or later it will happen to us all

Agreed. The 20 secs starting at 0:49...
One of the most powerful parts of the whole film.
She looked so broken when she said she didn't have a picture of Jack :(
XxColor-My-Se4xX Yeah looked like she was gonna cry again 😞
at least he looks like Leonardo de Caprio
HolaSoyAlejandro he is Leonardo DiCaprio lol

She has the drawing which was initialed by him
When she called her self rose dawson that was my favorite part of the whole movie ever EVER!
Well, she could not use her real name, as that would have enabled Cal and Ruth to track her down if they saw her on the list of survivors.
When she says I don't even have a picture of him I lose it 😫😫
A few months later, I imagined a wide-shot, panning over to a nearby table, heaped with magazines with Leo on the cover. :P

That happened to me recently, and now I completely understand what she was talking about. Thank you, Janis. I owe you a debt I can never repay.
I love Titanic. Such wonderful, sad and rich history. A great movie and intense acting. So amazing.

I'm happy that she told us her story
A woman’s heart is a deep ocean of secrets
This is one of the two movies which will always make me cry everytime I watch them.
When she says “it’s been 84 years,” that’s how long it takes my mom to have a full conversation with a friend.
So Grandpa spent his life with a woman whose heart was never truly his. That's a whole other tragedy
Well Jack said she's gonna make it and make lots of babies so she must have taken the best shot she could get to do that.
@@driftkingofforzatrueameric991still though, the grandpa was not the one she really wanted to be with
@enanny0616 ya, but beggars can't choosers.

It has been my dream to see the Titanic ever since I was 7, too bad its way too damn expensive to see it!

Jack Dawson could have survived too if the raft where Rose De Witt Bukater was was larger. Old Rose is 101, Jack Dawson would’ve been 104.
