Transfer Trucking

Wanted to film an example of the full process of transferring with a transfer trailer! I try to explain this to people but it’s difficult. 1994 International 9400 with, Eaton Fuller 18 speed transmission, cat 3406 14.6 cylinder motor. Tops out at 69 mph, the 17 foot bed carries appx 14-15 ton and the transfer handles 16-17 ton. The truck with transfer trailer is appx 70 feet in total length where the front wheels of the trailer have the ability to track or follow the exact path as the trucks front wheels which helps with turning. Great truck and wagon combination, really enjoy doing these jobs.

Looks like a major headache. Also unpractical. I wonder for all this "extra" work if the rate of taking a load is even worth it?

It involves some work and it’s certainly not fun to do in the cold! We have so many jobs where you can’t bring a side dump or pup trailer since the roads, driveways, job sites are way too tight.
If the supply source is closer than 20 minutes away we will do straight truck rounds. This job site was about 30 minutes away from the pit, straight trucking it would have taken 3 hrs to complete. With the transfer it took about 2 hours to complete. Rates for pup or transfer are appx 1.5x straight truck rates. So we were about break even the rate of a straight truck saving a bunch of fuel and an hour of time! The further you need to haul coupled with high fuel prices the more it makes sense. Total time transferring and dinking around with the trailer is appx 15-20 minutes depending on how quick you are, i know some people that can do the entire transfer process in less than 10 mins.
