That front detection crap has been around for a while. It's nothing but junk. In fact it falsy breaks the semis so much that the drivers aren't even paying attention to what the truck sees anymore. Soon as the truck starts breaking they just start cussing and swearing and trying to override it without looking anymore it is such a problem.
They also used them on recreational 6-wheelers in the 70s and 80s. If they get too slick with mud and you get bogged down, the tires will spin inside the treads leaving you stuck. And they didn't last very long with heavy usage, so you were always replacing them. There's usually always a reason old tech isn't used anymore.
it does thats why its so big, as it spins it spins a weight which powers the pump, it triggers if the pressure is of by x percent... it just also tracks temp vibration and stuff to look out for other signs of tire/wheel/ axle/ brake issues
The wheel with springs built in them was invented in the early 1900s and tested by the US army and shown to outperform pneumatic Wheels many times over...
The Icap system is pretty cool. If it catched on though, and became something would be thieves would be on the look out for. Every single person who has one that gets robbed will be replacing the entire tank. When thieves can't get in through the filler hole, they will drill a hole into the tank.
Lol i was just thinking the same thing, would be better to just have a detection system. If it detects that fuel is being drained without the engine running all lights are turned on and a siren sounds. A camera filming 360 degrees around the truck turns on and starts recording. As trucks usually stop at designated stops and the driver is often present, then the driver could just wake up and drive away and call the cops.

Should have done the zacklift instead of the holmes dtu, its a much better system. It even has spades so when its detached, the boom doesn't have be on the ground. The casey ladelle channel show cases it very well.
I thought the same thing. Those outriggers are necessary for HD tow trucks. There's simply no reason to eliminate those from an HD truck, and I can't figure out why Holmes doesn't have them on their detachables. It may not be completely useless as a towing apparatus, but it isn't something I'd want around for recovery work, and definitely not for any heavy lifting.
end of video supposed to be when you need extra traction, but they rely on tread which should be covered in mud etc in adverse conditions so idk if it is even decent
The Robson Drive System is made for forestry equipment. Volvo, Scania, etc, has a different system. The differential on the 1st drive axle has 1 input and 3 output. A normal dif has 1 input and 2 output, 1 output for each wheel. The 3rd output is connected via another drive shaft to the 2nd diffs input which has 2 outputs. This is how you get 4WD on a big truck.

The truck hammock is unnecessary if you are a trucker. If you are doing a route that is long enough for you to need to sleep, you are either provided with a sleeper cab, or you should quit. What a stupid invention.
The problem with the Dhollandia tail lift is that it feels a bit loose. It tilts a lot when you put weight on it, unlike HIABs Zepro lifts which usually hold the weight really well. Also, when operating the lift with the main controls like you'll see the driver do at 17:32, you need to hold the double grip button at all times. BUT, when using the remote you can open and close it. It's also prone to getting stuck in the up-right position so you have to basically spam the tilt-down button a few times before it goes down. HIAB Zepro has heavier duty lifts (up to 3 tons, as opposed to the 2 ton max on Dhollandia) that are simpler to fix, has thicker and more robust under-drive protection and are simply just easier to operate imo. HIAB is also a Swedish company, so it's bound to be better. The poblem is that they are a few cm too wide for the EU market, if I'm not mistaken. Max width in the EU is 255cm and the Zepro lifts are made for the 260cm wide trucks in Sweden.
I wonder how well those steel wheel tires hold up under small arms fire.

All of that automation makes me think that the repairs are going to be costly
@orest395 true, but all tech has to start somewhere. If enough people value what the product has to offer it may become less expensive later.

Those treads truly ARE genius! Why haven't they been used before? They had them on tanks in WW1 for goodness sake!
They also used them on recreational 6-wheelers in the 70s and 80s. If they get too slick with mud and you get bogged down, the tires will spin inside the treads leaving you stuck. if your going to put a unit that big on your tires to see if they are low on air...might as well have that unit fill the tires up automatically?
