Entitled relative story: I dropped out of college to start my donut business. I wasn't earning that much at the beginning but it was fun so I was happy. At family get-togethers my aunt would always brag about my cousin who just finished college and got his first job. It wasn't a problem until she started comparing the two of us saying how I should really think about my future "like" her son. The pandemic came and I started delivery services and my business suddenly started booming. Her son on the other hand was laid off from work because the pandemic affected their company severely. One day I got a call from her asking the recipe for my donuts so she and her son can sell it at their town too while also using my business name. I told her there is no way I was gonna give them my recipe and she then told me how I was so inconsiderate and that since we're family, it should be okay. My mom even tried to convince me because she felt bad for them. I still said no and since then, I became the 'villain' in the family.

My first entitled person encounter was a few weeks ago with my aunt. I have a bunch of plushes and i let my cousin(her daughter) play with them while i was babysitting her for free while my aunt went to the doctor. When my aunt tried to pick her up i went to take a stuffed animal that my cousin was holding from her and told her she could pick a different one. She refused and tugged the stuffed animal back and shook her head and my aunt just told me to give her the toy saying i could just buy a new one. The thing is that the stuffed animal had a lot of sentimental value to me so I didn’t wanna give it away. I gently took it back and led my cousin back to my room where my stuffed animals were. My aunt called me a brat and told me to “just give her the dumb toy its not a big deal”. I kicked her out and told her i wouldn’t be babysitting for her again

Once there was a kid at my school my age and we were in all the same classes. His little sister was like 2. She was crying once and I had a certain toy that I had brown attached to. I have it to her telling her older brother’s “when she’s done crying bring this back to school”. I asked about it for weeks because I missed it and then one day after months I said “ okay, look I’d like my stuffed animal back please “ the brothers go “ off actually she likes it. U can’t have it. Umm I’m sorry what?! Keep in mind this isn’t the kind of girl who gets attached to toys. It’s the kind of girl that draws on her dolls and cuts their hair. Rip stuffed animal. U r missed.

I personally think I can understand the situation with the kid. Children tend to be very possessive of toys or things that interest them. I was once like that when I was with my cousin. One day, we were playing Barbie dolls in my house when all of a sudden I wanted to keep my her doll's accessory. She became furious and we fought until one of us gave up. In the end, she still gave me her doll's accessory. I did not want to accept it at that time because I felt bad for her, but she told me that it is a gift for me.

My sister threw a tantrum when i said if she wanted the password to disney+ (which i got with my friends and each of us pay £25 for the year) she would also have to pay. Shes 20. Her argument was “its already logged in on the tv and it isn’t going to cost you anything extra” parents tried to make me give the password, I said no and logged out of all devices in the house. Gotta re-log in and out every time i wanna watch it but its worth it.

      I can't understand people who don't treasure grandparents! ☹
In 1969, I held my 87 year-old granddaddy's hand as we breathlessly waited to hear Neil Armstrong speak those first words from the moon, "That's one small step..." and then I saw my sweet Granddad cry for the first time ever.
My dad, his son, was a project manager at Collins Radio at the time, the company that made the space suits used by NASA and the communication equipment that was inside those suits. Those space suit radios were my dad's "baby", and we were so proud of his contribution, but no one was prouder than his own dad.
Granddaddy told me how, as a young man he saw an unbelievable story in the newspaper about these two brothers who built a flying machine, that worked! He was born in 1882, so he was 21 when the Wright brothers were first in flight. He told me how he saw flight progress from that over decades to this day which amazed me as an 8 year old, and still amazes me now I'm 60.
Granddad was a farmer, like his dad, but was thrilled when he realized his own son had a head for math and science, so he bought my dad radio tubes and equipment and my dad was building working radios at age 12. My dad became a specialist in microwave communications, especially projects that seemed impossible. He traveled all over the world in his job.
Granddaddy passed away the next year, at age 88, and I was devastated. I can't imagine anyone not seeing the treasure of having a grandparent to listen to. It's like having your own personal time travel agent!
He also made me a cute horse out of playdoh, and let me win at checkers. ❤

I had a cousin whom I barely see. Him and his family came to visit for Xmas. Saw my Kobe Bryant signed jersey that I have hanging on my wall. Keep in mind, this dude is 23 years old. He asked me how much. I said not for sale. He went and told his parents, who was forcing me to give it to him as a gift. The dude tried to take the jersey off the wall, dropped the frame that jersey was in and broke it. I was furious. I didn’t know what came over me, but I backed handed him so hard that his contacts came out and I went off on his parents.

This video just made me wanna share my story. I was living in Japan for about 5 years and have been sending really nice gifts every xmas back home for like 20+ relatives and their children. But on my 4th year, I was in a really bad car crash and couldn't send any gift due to my medical bills. On the day I finally got the OK from the doctor allowing me to be discharged and went home to my apartment, the girlfriend of my cousin called me on FB and complained that I was intentionally not giving her any gift because I was jealous that she was getting all the attention. I was like um ok? I didn't even know that she existed. I genuinely thought some random person called me, so I called my cousin on fb and the "cray cray" gf actually answered. She sent me a wish list and expressed that if she didn't get those items she would reconsider about going out with my cousin. I sent some stuff i already got for only my family. But I didn't forget to send the golden gf her gift either. I sent her an empty Dior glasses case filled with paper that says "Nobody cares" with spongebob meme and picture of me wearing the actual glasses.

I have a cousin that is so entitled. I don't think she ever heard the word "no" growing up. I've been on the phone with my aunt (her mom) and my aunt would have to cut our conversation short because she would have to make lunch for my cousin or help her clean her room. The other day I was on the phone with my aunt and I hear my cousin in the background telling my aunt that she wants to go to her friend's house to have lunch and have my aunt go along to keep her company. My aunt actually told her "no" because she was tired from all the holiday stuff and didn't feel like leaving the house. I heard my cousin throwing a tantrum in the background and whining because she didn't want to go by herself.

She felt she was entitled to ring my brother to tell him what she thought a better name for his newborn baby daughter would be after they announced the name they had chosen. Which is lovely btw. Then was “shocked” and “disappointed” and played the victim when he didn’t take her suggestion well and I went and gave her a calm but very firm talking to. She told my dad (her son) that I “bullied” her by telling her that she’s had her turn at naming kids and that she’s allowed to not like what people name theirs but that she needs to keep that to herself because that’s the polite thing to do and no one wants or needs her input. Our family of 7 goes on vacation every few years to wherever my step sister is competing for nationals (she’s a competitive dancer) and you would not believe “the AUDACITY” of this girl. Made my step mom and dad give up the king so she could have her “beauty rest”, reminded everyone at least 3 times a day that we were on vacation because she was a great dancer, and once woke my little sister (12) up in the middle of the night, demanding she give up her twin sized bed because she had gotten a bug bite in hers. My dad made my sister cry after forcing her to apologize to the step sister for being “inconsiderate of her stress”. I no longer keep in contact with her or anyone else aside from my sister. No one should make others feel like they are lesser simply for existing and I’m appalled that my dad and step mom would enable this toxic behavior.

My family went off on me this August when my parents got sick. My dad had a stroke and then my mom had to have surgery. My aunts all got together and decided they should clean my parents house which was awesome, and I told them going in I wouldn’t be able to help much if they did this and they said that was fine. I had just taken a new job and couldn’t get off work. I told my parents this as well and they completely understood (as I work in the medical field and days off are hard to come by anyway).
My aunts however turned on me. They have berated an bullied me ever since threatening me with lawyers etc. Mind you my mom has been chronically ill my entire life and this is literally the first time they have ever helped us (despite us asking in the past. For example they were always “too busy” to watch me after school for any doctors appointments my mom had etc.)
oh and their revenge for me not helping clean the house? Any of my things that were still being stored in MY bedroom were thrown out. I’m talking cards my dad made me for my birthday, a quilt my great grandmother made me, yearbooks you name it all thrown out.
I took my parents dogs to my house the second they got sick so they wouldn’t have to worry, I have taken off as many days as I safely can to help my parents but to my aunts I’m a selfish brat who should rot in hell.

My family took care of my mother's mom. She was one town over the other relatives were hours away. Watched the house when she was on vacations, took her car for inspections, fixed anything around the house. Then my grandma had a stroke and was in seriously bad shape. Somehow my cousin got power of attorney even though the woman had two living daughters! She whisked my grandma off to a facility in California. 3,000 miles from her friends and her church. She died shortly after. Then the locks were changed on her house. THEN driving by I saw my cousins with a moving van loading every stick of antique furniture. I couldn't stop as I was mildly inebriated and didn't want to be arrested. My mother lost out on thousands in their value. Accounts disappeared, investments were sold with no reporting to my mom, one of only two heirs. Mom didn't want an inter family war, I did! So it was let go. My cousins are the most entitled shits on the planet. I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. I would tell them to hold that thought while I get marshmallows.

While the wording on the “babysit grandpa” was very raw, this sounds like a young person who’s been saddled with the formidable task of caretaking an elderly relative who’s cognitive issues have gotten out of control. While they shouldn’t speak in those terms, families have a very nasty habit of doing these things, to some young, unsuspecting family member who has no idea what they’re in for. Which is unfair to that family member, and very unfair to grandpa, who deserves to be with someone who understands.
    Talking about entitled relatives??

Speaking of entitled relatives I got a good one for you.
I decided to do hair school when I was younger and there was one an hour or so away where my cousin and a my uncle lived.
So my uncle was kind enough to let me take a room in the basement. And I was excited as this cousin was a year older and we were the closest growing up.
So I'm moving up there and not too long after I go out for the day looking for a job and the last place i went was a grocery store and i had previous experience in the same store back home. I waited for the manager to come back from lunch and spoke with him and ggot the job.
I was so excited, i quickly biked back home to tell my family and my cousin was the only one home so I told her and she said with such resentment "oh great, now my dads gonna wonder why i dont have one and make me get one."
No support or sharing in my excitement. Just shot me down. I was deflated by that comment and disappointed in her.

I have a SIL who years ago I used to live near. I lived in an apartment that didn't allow pets and our front door was right next to the main office. She lived in a house and had a few dogs, she was leaving on some trip and her awful dog had been banned from every kennel/boarding place, so she asked me to watch the dog AT MY PLACE, she knew no pets are allowed, I told her I couldn't cuz the office is literally only feet away from our door and there's no way we would be able to get a dog (Especially a crazy fat basset hound) up the and down the stairs to my door without people seeing, plus with no backyard, that makes it even more impossible to hide the dog. She refused to agree to let me watch the dog at her place even though I had lived at her house for a month straight in the past, so it wasn't like I hadn't been there unsupervised before. I still have the texts of her freaking out trying to claim we could hide her dog for a week straight. 🤣🤣 and her basset hound was the stereotypical super super loud always barking and whining type. And smelled beyond awful 😖 .....there would have been no way to get the smell of it out of the place enough to get a security deposit back. 🙄

I’m like “yeahhhh why”. She proceeds to tell me how her friend was supposed to have a “pin up” shoot with her photographer friend and the girl flaked out on her. And she wanted me to do it for nothing 🙄 …I asked “ why can’t they just reschedule?” …her response was, “ well she just spent all day getting ready for this, and it would suck if she just waisted all that time”. I said I wouldn’t do it for nothing and by the time I was ready for it there’d be no more good light anyway. She already traded work for the shoot too so I don’t understand why she thought I should do it. When I turned her down she got annoyed and got off the phone once she realized she couldn’t get me to do this for her friend. Seriously NOT my problem lol! There’s been over 20 years of manipulation and entitlement from her and I’m the only one who seems to say no to her. Sadly she still only contacts me when she wants something. 🤦🏼‍♀️

So my mother's brother... he talked us into moving in with him. We paid him half the money for the house payment every month. He was supposed to make the basement his living space. Never did. Took my parents money and spent it on his rich girlfriend to impress her. Didn't tell us when the government foreclosed the house, and if we didn't take a lowball offer from some random person then we would've had a matter of days to get our stuff and leave the house we'd been paying for for two years.
On top of that, he chose to marry his rich girlfriend the weekend of our first family vacation in years. A vacation he KNEW about a long time in advance. And then, when we cancelled the vacation, he basically said we weren't invited to his wedding. But then asked us to babysit my grandfather with dementia on his wedding.

I used to dog sit for her whenever she'd go to Vegas (which was a LOT), so I'd drive over to her apartment and take the dog for a walk, feed him, give him some water, play with him a bit, ect. I adore dogs, so I've never had a problem caring for them. Difference is, my cousin never paid me, and her dog is an actual demon. Little shit bit me more than once just because he didn't like that I was picking up his poop. Which he did in the house. Oh, and her complex didn't know he was in the apartment (she was trying to avoid the pet fee), so I couldn't actually walk him. Just let him out on the patio. "He doesn't like leashes anyway." It finally got to a point where I told her that I'd need, like, 20 bucks or so to keep watching him. She was gone nearly every weekend, and I was heading over there 2-3 times a day while working a full time job an hour away. She got on my case about how family should take care of each other, and that she'd asked me so that she wouldn't have to pay a dog sitter to take him, blah, blah, blah.
I mean, I don't dog sit her dog anymore, so that's nice, I guess. I still wonder where he goes whenever she's in Vegas.

My sister is my entitled family member. I dropped out of college at 19 to take care of our grandmother when our mother died very suddenly. In my late 20's after I was married and had 2 kids I asked my sister for the 1st and last time to take care of our grandmother for the weekend because hubby and I wanted some alone time with our kids. My sister said no because she has a life. Apparently I didn't have a life.
Same sister about 10 years later was being evicted for not paying her rent. I had helped her several times get out of binds financially. She asked me for money that I literally didn't even have to give her because I had just moved. She had her best friend send me threatening text messages but blocking the number. I knew what they were doing, called her at work where she would get in trouble for personal phone calls, and told her to stop. She feigned ignorance and the text stops. She's threatened me calling a screaming at me when I was having a bad medical episode that required surgery. I'm currently not speaking to her after she got mad that my children wanted to go to their grandfathers funeral, my father in law. He had apparently said something one time that she didn't like, that had to be over 15 years ago.

My sister in law emailed the entire family her 8 year old daughters Amazon wish list.
I had a $20 budget for the child's Christmas present, and things got so hectic with work, I simply mailed the kid a card with a $20 bill inside. (cash) I was alerted that it was not appreciated as "(child's name) was really wanting to fulfill her wish list". Absolutely no gratitude. SMH

My sis is a politician and for the past few years, she took on a big load of work: delivering flyers and putting them in mailboxes. The thing is, she expected everyone to help her do it.
I was ok the first time, and I volunteered. But the second time, she didn't mention it until a few days before it was due. My family and I were going to our batch, about 2 hours away, and we had to postpone the trip. And did I mention I was sick? Coughing, sore throat, feeling miserable (before covid happened, dw). So I spent hours delivering flyers when I felt like dying.
    Never again

My wife's aunt and cousin are like that last one. She used to go visit them and they would always ask her to run them to the store and all over the place, leaving me and the kids alone at their apartment with about a million cats and the whole place covered in cat hair and pee. She used to buy stuff for them until one time he asked her to go to a concert with him, then that turned into her having to buy tickets for both herself and him. At first she thought he had two tickets, then found out that he hadn't gotten her a ticket so she bought one online. Then they get there (we decided to stay in a hotel since he lives in a different city a couple of hours away, no way we were staying at the cat apartment) and he doesn't have a ticket. He thought she had bought his ticket for him! She had to shell out another $120 for a ticket at the door for him (which was $50 more than she paid online).
So that turd invited her to a concert, made her buy the tickets, and made her pay MORE than she would have paid. Then he wanted her to buy him food and drinks at the concert. That was the last time we ever had to hang out with them.

She told me I had to drive the wallet over to her house. I kept telling her to have her girlfriend pick it up. The wife who looks after HER children and drives them around bc she doesn't drive. She refused so I called her wife and she was dead silent, then goes, "So that bitch is cheating one me!?" She was to pick her up on Monday and I'd have loved to be there. I had a "close friend" who, in the year after my mother died (and my husband was fired from his low wage job {our only income} the day we returned from her funeral) I heard from FOUR times; each time in the middle of the night, and each time with a message similar to, "oh man, I wish I could find someone to lend me $200, for eight hours and then I could pay them back $300 in the morning.... oh WHO could I POSSIBLY get to lend me this money???"

I find it funny how few people seem to make the distinction between "family" and "relatives". For me, all my family members are also my relatives, but not all my relatives are my family. Furthermore, I consider people family regardless of if they're related to me through blood or not. I choose my family.
Relatives are everyone related to me through blood or by marrying someone related to me through blood or adoption. Therefore I got no choice on the matter, so I don't bother to pretend I care much more about them than about a stranger.

She's a family of 4 but she insisted its full.
So when her husband was hospitalized, she called me to watched her kids (9 and 12)...
I saw her accounts saved as mum, dad, daughter, son and family...and everyone watched from mum acc only 🤣.

I don't ever lend anyone money I'm not willing to write off as a gift because I do not trust anyone to ever pay me back. If I'm selling something, I'm clear as to the expectations of the buyer and if they don't want to play ball I find a new buyer. If I'm desperate to get rid of something I just give it away or throw it away. And, I too have a horrible narcissist for a relative. But, I got lucky she decided to kill the relationship for me. My mother of course still thinks I need to reconcile. But, has given up on trying to make me.

My mother once called me and just asked me to transfer € 10000 to her. I was like hell no. So she threw a major temper tantrum, she screamed/cried very loud and than asked if I could borrow her the money. I said we both know she would never be able to pay it back. More screaming. Then she wanted to talk to my husband, I told him why she called and how she responded and when she had him on the telephone she talked in a normal calm way and asked in the nicest way possible to borrow the money. She still go a no.
Why did she need the money? Because she blew all the money she had from a very successful house sale and she was now used to live lavish and she missed that lifestyle when she ran out of money.

I took my cousin to the station with me for a time. Which wasn‘t a big deal since we live in the same village and she agreed to come down to our place so I didn‘t have to drive another route. Exept she didn‘t ask me. She asked at wich time I always drove and told her to take her with me. That was two years after her mother (my dads sister) asked me why I drove to the station every morning and took the earlier train instead of going one train later and taking the Bus there. A bus that doesn‘t even stop at the station but a good few hundert meters away. My cousin then proceeded to touch my Radio without asking and chainging the volume and stuff. And she only remembered my birthday because she had to hold my cake for the office during the drive while I was out the congratulating her every year without fail like a moron.
Don‘t get me wrong I DO get along with her and all my family when we‘re together I just don‘t get how their brains work sometimes and needed to vent to stragers on the internet. Thank you very much.

It got 15 mpg and I rarely had cash to put into my tank, but he would take it without asking and leave me with almost no gas left. My grandpa had really bad dimentia and his daughter (my aunt that literally everyone hates) always yelled at him asking "WHY ARE YOU SO STUPID" when he would forget things. My grandpa and I were super close and we lost him in March of 2019 at the age of 89. I will never understand why people don't have more compassion for those with alzheimers (or "old-timers" if you asked my grandpa). That person doesn't deserve their grandpa.
