I worked in retail and once had a couple who had been in the store come and ask me if I've seen their child. I said no but offered to help them look for him (it was a slow day). I looked through the store in places a child could have hidden in and when I didn't find him, I wanted to tell the parents he wasn't in the shop but then I saw they had already left (I saw them not far from the store's entrance) so I went back to work. In a few minutes, the father came back to me and told me I should be more careful when there's a child in the store so this wouldn't happen, and then he left. It took me a bit to process what he had said so I was just left dumbfounded. It's MY responsibility to look after YOUR child? Bitch, I was paid to be a sales assistant, not a caretaker.

A while back I read about a toy store in a mall where people would leave their unsupervised children while they shipped elsewhere. Rather than having children run up and down the aisles and carry on, and rather than assume the role of uncompensated babysitters, they would simply contact mall security. Security would take the 'lost' children to the security office until their parents came to retrieve them.

When I worked retail, it was in a JoAnn's at one point, and some of the material was stored in what was called a pen. Basically, it was a wire cage that was about four feet high and maybe eight feet by four feet across. I was walking down the length of the store to grab something for a customer, and I see a father standing next to the pen, with his kid LYING IN THE PEN ON TOP OF THE MATERIAL. I stopped dead in my tracks, undoubtedly had a "WTAF???" look on my face, and the only sound I could make was a "What the hell is wrong with you??" kind of laugh while I looked from the father to the kid.
Then the father says, "Oh, I guess he shouldn't be in here?"
      . . . YEAH, YOU THINK????
I said, "Uh, yeah, definitely not."
I swear, when I was a kid and would *touch* material like what was in that pen too much, my mom would yell at me to keep my hands to myself. What the hell is wrong with parents these days thinking that it's okay to put their kid in a thing full of material????

"You didn't even consider... my daughter's future, this is going to impact her life and potentially ruin her confidence and life. Can you imagine growing up having the same name as a mutt?"
    1. People give their dogs human names all the time.
Dogs generally don't care what names they're given, unlike humans...
    2. Honey... the name you want for your child is Tilly.
There's a reason that some names are more popular than others. Times change, as do tastes.
Tilly is kind of on the same tier as Edith or Muriel. Perfectly acceptable in the early to mid 20th century... not so much now.
Tilly might be a cute BABY name... but babies tend to grow up. She might not appreciate that name as much once she gets into school... Girl bullies can be super petty, and this is easily a name I could see a girl getting picked on for having.
Maybe YOU should have more consideration for your little girl's future.
(nothing wrong with having Tilly as a name in my opinion ^^ I just know how awful it is to get picked on at school for petty reasons, and if not for my dad's insistence against it I would have been given a more archaic name because my grandmother wanted it)

It’s not very nice at all. Especially to a person who is passionate about their craft. In my school the only person who almost never comes to online is this one kid, but no one gets mad because he has a lot of problems at home, mental health challenges, barely gets sleep, and as far as I know, has to get food from the school because his family can't afford it. This is why whenever he does manage to come (which is rare) everyone claps and says his name. Making him smile is worth it.

I raise goats, and have a lot, so I name them after celebrities to make their names easier to remember. "Stevie" (Nicks) is mother to Willie (Nelson), Snoop (Dogg), and Bootsy (Collins). Our herd leader is a handsome guy named "Lucas McCain" (The Rifleman) and his sister is "Cheyenne". Johnny and June (Cash) also live here. I love my goats, so I only name them after people I like a lot!

"What happens when a Karen is already talking to the manager?"
Excellent question. In my experience it gets a little awkward and they may demand that you call corporate (never gonna happen, lady). Ideally the employees spot the Karen ahead of time and can plan around her. A few regular employees can pretend to be "supervisors" or "team leads" and act as a buffer so the Karen has a few more people to escalate through before reaching the real manager. By the 4th person they usually feel like they've won and will go away.
