Emotional vampires are not cool. Had what I thought was a good friend turn into an emotional vampire. Every waking moment we did anything together, even if was just sitting out on my porch talking, she sucked all the energy and goodness out of me. I spent more time subconsciously propping her up that it really did drain me of anything. When I finally blew up at her, she blamed everything on me not being a good friend. On my birthday. Nice.

Agreed. Plus they had to attend balls and smile politely even to the worst of guests to maintain diplomacy, expected to produce many heirs (preferably male ones too), had to wear heavy dresses, learn useless etiquette lessons or else risk some kind of scandal, not have too much of an opinion especially when their husband had specific ones, etc. Like yes, they were spoilt and didn't want for anything in terms of material possessions, but I truly think they suffered in many ways too.

The only positive of people putting their preferences (as horrible as some are) is that at least they are putting it out there that they are toxic or have shallow expectations which is either giving you a heads up that they are a meanie and/or effectively exiting the gene pool.

I once took this girl out for a date. We arrived early to the restaurant so I took her to this cool candy store across the street and I bought her a bag of taffy she wanted. We had a nice dinner and she seemed super cool. Afterwards I walked her to her car to say good bye. She turned to me and said "give me $20". I asked why, thinking she might need gas money or something. She said "I want to go out with my friends tonight and I need to pay for an uber". I said no and asked why would I give her money after paying for everything that evening. She said "were dating now so you must give me what I want". I told her "I'm sorry no. I don't think I want a second date. Hope you have a good night with your friends". As I walked away, she proceeded to scream profanities at me. I immediately blocked her.

They are just open about it. Your views might clash with theirs, but in the end that's the point. Filter out people with a completely different ideology. I would not date fat people for example, as the thought of touching them makes me shudder. I never did online dating, so i did not have to put it into words, but i never attempted to flirt with a fat person, nor did I respond to their efforts if I noticed them, so I did the same just offline. So does prettly much everyone else. Everyone has internal standards, that determine if they are attracted to someone.

Same. I’ve been single for 3 years now (last relationship ended with my ex ghosting me after a year of dating. Who knows, I might actually still be in a relationship 🤷🏻♀️). Only had horrible experiences with dating and men before and after that. Have decided to stay single, and focus only on myself, career, hobbies, friends and family instead. Never been happier with no one wasting my time, effort and emotions. (D1ldos help too!)
I’ve never been married and am not so thrilled with the options out there so don’t anticipate anything changing. It makes me feel better seeing the women who were married and divorced, and are living satisfying lives now even into old age. I’ve achieved the same without the drama of a bad relationship.

I saw loads of profiles from women saying "no baggage" "no issues" etc. I said in my profile that I was starting dating after a spell of homelessness, depression and anxiety, as I believe honesty is important and I wasn't after wasting time.
Anyhoo, one woman messaged me to say hello etc and I looked at her profile before replying. Sure enough, she was a "no issues" type. I replied " Thanks for the interest love, but I'm sorry to say that I don't meet your specific requests. Have a good day"
I then met my (now) wife who is accepting of what has happened and was appreciative of me being honest
I know, right? Everyone has some issues. Even if you have all the material things, you've probably got some work to do on your personality, because we ALL do. That's what life is about, learning and growing. When you find a partner who can help you explore those issues and work past them, being loving, supportive and a team through life, that's the sweet spot. If we all had to work through EVERY issue before dating, then we'd all be single.
My partner and I BOTH have some issues but we've helped each other so much and grown together with love. So many people look at dating like a purchase, where you need to find the best within your price range instead of a mutual relationship with teamwork and companionship.
And when I say "you" I mean it in the general way and not specifically you😃

I don't believe that those "no issues" types actually have no issues. They probably have a skewed view about what issues entail (kinda like how those "manly alpha men" will dunk on emotion yet have anger issues themselves, which, *surprise surprise*, is also emotion). And even if they find someone without issues, what will they do when issues arise? Will they be at all empathetic? Because a lack of empathy seems like the biggest possible issue in a relationship.

It reminds me of a guy I met online who on like date two told me he recently completed his prison sentence, was in over 20 years. I could already see he was a trustworthy person, so was willing to get to know him more. It didn’t work out, but we’re still friends and occasionally get together as friends.
I don't like the things they decide to let you know later, because they are going to be an issue for you. I am happy not to date. I don't want to be dating anybody who doesn't want children. I don't swipe yes on profiles that have that they don't. But if you wait until we are dating and f*cking, before you start announcing to my friends that, "you have had your time, and don't want to be dealing with children now", then you can go f*ck right off.
I met him on a dating site, and they literally have the child question, if you want to answer it. I put that I want children. Actually just a child. I said that someone elses children might be okay. He told me that he was going to move to another part of the country for a woman with two young kids, just before he dated me. His daughter is 19 years old and she lives in Australia, and he isn't her biological father... very clearly not a replacement for having children.
I remember I kept getting all of these “Hello princess” comments when I started online dating, and it was a huge turn off. I couldn’t figure out why so many guys kept leading with that. Then I went back to update my profile, and saw that my first line was something along the lines of “my friends have told me that I am a real-life Disney princess, and that’s one of the most flattering things I’ve ever heard.”
I deleted that line from my profile. I felt like it was a pretty good representation of who I am as a person, but guys calling me princess was just too weird.
I definitely was shocked by the hate in some of those entitled dating app bios. LOL! It does kind of show you that there are some very toxic humans out there, be safe and be wise when doing dating apps.

i watched a dating show in australia, and the girl wanted to order for the guy because she wanted to pick from his plate, and order his dessert that she wanted and he said no. she kept trying to eat what he ordered from his plate and he wouldn't let her, so she said she's going to the toilet and just left the restaurant.
On the one hand, it's good to have standards. On the other hand, it's actually important to remember other people have standards too.
Yep, and distinguish preferences from essential standards. All people will have something about them you dont like, some things are of course worse than others. But you cant go around expecting someone who is "everything you ever dreamed of" or have absolutely no traits you may find annoying or off-putting at some point (of course you gotta like them as a whole)

A word of advice for men and women seeking men (oh hell woman too), run as far as possible if you hear the "used car" analogy being used as gospel, tells you nothing but bad things about a relationship with that person if they think those are words to live by and put it in their bio. If you are on a dating app, you will never be satisfied if you are bothered by the fact that people want to enjoy themselves (and probably need therapy not a gf/bf). Instead of focusing on that, maybe look forward to having fun with people that actually know what they are doing in bed and are willing to learn what pleases you specifically

Got to love the double standards people set… Last date I went on I apparently hit most of her criteria. Never married, no kids to another woman, decent income, job, car (travel regularly and not even for work), and a few other things… Her response was “you’ll do“. Mind you, she lives with her parents, unemployed, no car (or travel desire, I know not everyone drives), and I hate to admit it… But absolutely no personality. She didn’t need a boyfriend or husband. She needs a father to teach her what a man is supposed to be, and then look for that. I got the greenlight, she didn’t, but I thanked her for the evening and absolutely meant it. She genuinely helped with my perspective…😂

No judgments on them… Their goals are just different. If you’re shooting to put a colony on Mars you’re going to need a lot of resources, and that’s a hell of an ambition. If your highest goal in life is to hit an achievement in a video game, honestly, no judgments… In the race of life you happened to start right next to the finish line you want to reach. Good for you! But trying to hold someone else to a standard you yourself are not able to reach just seems asinine. And yet that seems to be the most common form of “audacity” out there. @@Onyx-qd9tl I don't judge when I hear of people living with their parents these days. I live in Southern California. Housing costs are terrifying here. I have two grown kids still at home while attending college and one has health issues that may prevent her from ever living alone. Life screws you over that way sometimes and generations below mine (and some of my peers, too) can't always get independent because of circumstances beyond their control.
That said... I do wonder at the standards people set for others at the same time.

I didn’t mean to say there’s a “standard“ that some aren’t meeting, I meant to say check what your standards are. The times we live in make cohabitation a pretty smart move. After all, any traditionalist knows most homes are supposed to be generational anyway, both for psychological and for financial reasons. I’m just saying that the folks with absurdly strange standard rules aren’t just looking for someone who doesn’t make sense, they’re actively seeking someone they are not even compatible with and thinking it’s a win.

I once went out with a guy that told me "Please don't touch my hair, I spent all day getting it right". I laughed so hard I had to just tell him "This gal is not for you". What's crazy about all of these are that you just know that the lack of responses they will get from them will just cause their already screwed up perspective to just get worse and they'll just double down on their entitlement because they somehow think that's the solution to their problems.

I LOVE profiles that have a long list of requirements (mainly what THEY don´t like = and between the lines saying that they are better than the rest and need the other to conform to them and never thinking that there might be 2 in a relationship or a friendship). Yesterday I asked an anonymous profile with a headless torso to send me a PDF list or an online form so I can go through his T&Cs and tick his row after row of requirements..lol
Most of these profiles either take the fun out of dating by revealing too much or turn people off by displaying dishonestly and/or overbearing neediness.

i agree. People are not finding love these days because they have this long list of what they want. Marriage is a constant work in progress. WE as humans are a constant work in progress. You find someone you love where you can handle their flaws and then hopefully work together to become better people. You find someone humble enough to realize they have to become better and then you both become better together!

If you are like my mentor who is an INFJ, you can see the root of issues further than most and it can be lonely because not everyone sees in such a visionary way as you might. You might have more tolerance and patience and you are more likely to listen than to be heard.
@@noodlepoodlegirl INFJ means strong introverted intuition (strong gut feeling stuff) extraverted feeling (group harmony stuff), introverted thinking (analytic) and low extraverted sensing (using your senses to experience the moment stuff). Compatibilities... I mean idk if mbti should really be used as a dating advisor, in the end it should just help you to understand where people are coming from when they act and make decisions.
Also since every mbti type has all functions just in a different preference and introversion/extraversion, I highly recommend always checking the top 3 results because in my experience it tells you more about a person because most people don't act like one mbti type all the time and also since there's a lot more to our personality, two people with the same mbti type can still be two very different people.
