As a woman I'm really glad for these guys standing up for themselves. Those girls were totally gross. Treating a guy like a wallet is the same disrespect as them treating women like just pussy. Respect goes both ways.
My son says that most women his age and younger expect that treatment without being interested in getting to know people. So he decided to focus on his career and retiring in his 40s and traveling. Men are opting out and I for one cannot blame them. If I was stood up for an hour I would have left. That shows a clear lack of respect.

Absolutely! My husband pampers me so much, especially when I feel bad, like throwing my back out this weekend. But I'm so grateful for it, and let him know that. Besides that, I do what makes him feel spoiled, like surprising him with cookies.

This woman in the green dress didn't deserve this guy. He would make a wonderful husband and father. He knows when to draw a red line and follow through without being respectless or rude. He can calculculate effort/outcome and even gave her a ride home after stating meeting her does no longer make sense. He even explained to her, what made him decide the way he did. Chapeau.

Personally, I would never care where a date took place or how much money was involved. I just want to be able to get to know the person, and we can do that for free on a park bench for all I care. The money shouldn’t matter if you are there to experience a genuine connection that will hopefully lead to a mutually loving and respectful relationship. I’d 100% date that man in a heartbeat! He seems like a wonderful person, and that entitled woman only did a disservice to herself! I’m so glad he didn’t spend any money on her and that he stuck up for his own values. And she’s certifiably insane for thinking Cheesecake Factory was a cheap date, though maybe she’d change her toon if she was the one footing the bill. I’d be thrilled and grateful to be taken there on a date. He dodged a MAJOR bullet. I wish him the absolute best, and hope he finds someone who can appreciate him.

My first date with my husband (of 25 years) was going to see a movie, which I had to see for a college class assignment. He basically just tagged along. The date was brilliant. It was a dumpster fire of a movie and I will never forget how much fun we had. It cost less than $10.

That's what I thought too! It was a really good thing they missed the reservation and he didn't waste his money on her. As a woman, I never let a guy pay for me the first few dates and I prefer to meet a coffee shop, pizza place or fast food. Anywhere cheap, I just want to get to know the person. If things goes well after the first few dates, I don't mind paying every other time, if he really wants to. There's no way I'd expect or want a man to always pay for our dates.
Oyster girl is probably the friend that will come out to dinner with everyone, order the most expensive things on the menu and then demand to split it evenly- or the type to say "I will venmo you my portion" and then just never do it. She's for the streets.

100% I was keeping track, 60$+ like for the first date and let's say he already agreed to paying. Unless he's rolling in money, you should try to keep your price between 10- maybe 50 depending the resturant. And good for him for leaving, because he got one drink and that's it.

I may not know the guy in burgundy shirt (Cheesecake Factory Guy), but the way he was so patient and calm, didn't raise his voice at any time, and all around acted incredibly respectful towards his date leads me to think he's in a completely different league than her - for all of her self-assurance and perceived self-importance, she acted in a manner that's WAY beneath him. The Cheesecake Factory lady is TRIPPING!!! The food is excellent, the ambiance is really nice. That’s great for a first date, considering she lost the reservation being late! My dad told me a story about how in college he had tickets for a concert of some kind and he went to pick up his date but she kept him waiting. And waiting, and waiting. He said it was a game the girls played to see who could keep their date waiting the longest.He didn't want to miss the concert so he asked one of the girls hanging out downstairs if she wanted to go with him. She said yes. They left, and his original date got mad and yelled at him the next day. But he enjoyed the concert.
As he should! I imagine back then concert tickets were affordable but not cheap compared to today where they are very expensive depending on who is performing and where you are seated. He spent money for that event. She KNEW he spent money for them and really thought she was hot sh!t enough where he would throw that away for her like it was no big deal. So glad he gave her a reality check.
As a 30 year old woman, I can tell you I hate men who want to play games. Same with women who want to play games (bi romantic). If I can't stand that childish insecurity, I don't expect another person to tolerate that either regardless of gender. Life is too short for that nonsense.

Does she not know that The Cheesecake Factory is as much a chain restaurant as McDonald's or Burger King? All she had to do was leave the car and walk in like she owned the place. She obviously dressed the part, everyone would have been looking at her. This was an opportunity for her to stick her nose in the air, which is how she feels about herself. Then she had the audacity to say, "Ladies, can you believe this?" when he said he was going to take her home. At the very least he was taking her home, some other men would have taken her to the nearest bus stop and said, "Get home safe!" and drove off. She was having more of a conversation with her phone than him anyway, so it was best that they part company.

When I was dating my boyfriend at the time, he didn’t have a lot of money. We went to McDonald’s and the mall just to window shop sometimes. He’s my husband now and he takes excellent care of me and shows me how much he loves me. He tells me he’s glad that I was with him when he was poor because he knows that I won’t leave him because of money. We struggle with finances still a little bit and each have two jobs but we are still strong in our marriage. Not every guy is going to have money all the time and if he takes you out somewhere nice, you should be grateful because one day if you are still with him, you might have to eat at McDonald’s for a date or movie night at home. ☺️

For the last one though: On my first date with my husband, we went to a chain restaurant and I ordered a massive burger and fries, and ate the whole thing. He apparently was attracted to the fact the I didn’t hold back eating, and was surprised when I wanted to go Dutch and pay for myself. I was surprised he wanted to pay (he was my first and only boyfriend so I had NO knowledge of how dating worked 😂). I also was not accustomed to “if you are the inviter, you pay” concept as my friends and I always paid for ourselves when we hung out. He apparently appreciated that I was there for him and didn’t just see him as a meal ticket or expected him to pay. Been together 16 years (married five) and I’m still just as in love with him as that first date. ❤

as someone who grew up chronically poor… Cheesecake factory is a hella nice date! I’ve been on an olive garden date and was impressed that my boyfriend could just order appetizers without having to do bank account calculus and have a mini panic attack. Hell, my now-husband and I had our first date at a little local diner, and we both love cheap dates.
I feel the same. I was a welfare baby, so olive garden and cheesecake factory are still hella nice to me. Even now as a 38yo woman, if someone is paying for my meal, I still ask about how much of a budget I should keep in mind as I decide from the menu.
Regardless, cheap dates are more fun in my opinion. More down to earth and more relaxing. For a first date I think a nice restaurant is fine, but personally I don't want a man to feel obligated to spend a bunch of money on me when we are just getting to know each other.

I read an article about the oyster debacle. The manager said that her combined tip (cash + credit card) was 14%. That means her bill was $185! I'd bail, too, if I asked someone out for drinks and they racked up that kind of bill.

For the lady in green... not only was he super patient, when she let him wait AN HOUR, he also didn't freak out when she really obviously wanted to embarass him on social media for being "cheap". He stayed calmed and polite the whole thing through and it look genuine to me. He seems so nice and easy going and she had a weird attitude - that might never match anyway (like he said). And what is this "I except an expensive restaurant"-thing anyway? It's about talking to and getting to know each other and the food should just be a side note. For me a walk in the park with a hot dog from a street food truck would do! I had one date - his fat wallet the whole time out on the table, sometimes gently touching it to make sure I notice... My mom knew a guy once, he was really nice, hard working, and he asked her if she knew anyone for him. My mom did indeed know someone that she thought would be a great match, but the girl was super plain jane, not ugly, but just kind of blah, looks-wise had not much going for her, but she was the sweetest person you'd ever meet, always had a smile on her face, with a totally positive outlook on life, just the sweetest soul. When my mom suggested her, he said know because he was looking for a Barbie Girl/Victoria's Secret Model looking girl, he wouldn't even go on one date with her. Years go by, and one day he pops back into my Mom's life and wants to introduce my parents to his new wife. No Joke, he married a woman so similar to the friend my Mom suggested, No barbie doll looks, very plain jane, not what you'd consider model beautiful, but very sweet, very nice, and my Mom was just flabbergasted. Maybe he had to grow up, maybe my Mom's friend although similar, wasn't meant to be with this guy, it was just so funny that he ended up with someone who didn't match his Physical attribute list at all!!
