You should be able to wire the clutch pedal to the neutral safety switch relay (from the auto trans) if you do that the manual Ecu should work without needing the whole harness
Fax, I started watching around that time too and now my car is manual swapped, engine rebuilt, and it’s on bags. But back then I was like “this wish car is cool af” and honestly those videos helped me understand that you just gotta have fun and doing those small cheap things helps you learn about the real deal and that you don’t even actually have to buy expensive things, sometimes the cheaper parts actually work really well
You don't need to worry about the manual harness as long as you've got the manual ecu, Nissan ran them as 2 separate ecosystems (ecu and tcu) so if you run the manual ecu it has no idea that an auto box ever existed, the engine loom itself is the same, just unplug the auto ecu and In the engine bay there will be a plug with 2 wires that need to be shorted as its the park/neutral starter inhibit, all 90s nissans were wired pretty much the same.
@@XenoGeneric sorry yea forgot about US market and clutch switches being a requirement, it's easy enough to overcome though by simply leaving the auto loom in place, the clutch inhibit switch doesn't feed into the ecu on 90s nissans, it's part of the body loom that doesn't exist on an auto
Let’s hope you replaced the Pilot bushing. Auto transmission bushings are way different than Manual on these z32. Should’ve also gotten the Heavy Duty Clutch Fork with Chromoly pivot ball. Just a fellow z32 owner giving you a heads up from experience 🤗 Also, WiringSpecialties have the MT harness too
I've driven both kinds of transmissions and for daily driving automatic is easier than a manual transmission. It also makes your driving more relaxed, manual transmissions have their place but automatic transmissions are perfectly usable. For context I live in Europe where more than 50% of cars on the road have a manual transmission and my car is an EV...
The radiator doesn’t have to be looped. Once all the fluid is drained on the floor then you can keep ports fully open because the trans fluid portion is completely independent on the inside. Had my truck like that since 93
Fyi, looks like you left the Auto Transmission bushing in on the crank shaft. You needed to remove it and them put in the manual transmission pilot bushing in, then your clutch alignment tool would have worked better.
Robbie, pull the starter next time and unbolt the torque converter (donut) through the starter hole next time. To get to all the bolts just turn the engine over by the crank or spin the flywheel with a pry bar on the teeth. It won’t make a mess out of the front of the transmission anymore if you have to do any swaps ever again! And pull the pan and drain it next time lol!😆😂 love the videos man! Just a tip from one young mechanic to another!!
I always find myself looking at the time when close out of the video happens to see if there’s any extra time left haha cross threads are better than no threads 😂 Keep up the great work guys!
Saw a 300gt today at work, peeked in the window and saw that it was auto then proceeded to throw up a bit in my mouth. Glad to see there’s one less jdm legend with an auto transmission
Just some advice if there's a next time, disconnect the torque converter (donut, lol) from the flywheel before you drop it. You will not have to work around it when dropping it. Also, they will come out together so all of the fluid will not pour out of the converter. Unless you have a transmission jack, there is almost no way of not making a mess. You're still learning though, keep up the good work.
U need a manual brake pedal, yes its it different and makes things easier.. otherwise the clutch pedal and the big wide auto brake pedal will be way to close 2 each other.. cheap people just cut it but doesn't look good. Just get a used 1 bolts right on and looks way better. Good luck.
I’d love to see Robbie and @itsjusta6 do a collab. I feel like Robbie’s style and Gavin’s love for speed would make an absolutely wild build come to life.
did you keep that AT pilot bushing in when installing? i didn't see it removed before you threw on the clutch. i would imagine that would keep you from getting the trans in, besides the alignment tool being misaligned
Robbie, I, and I'm sure all of us absolutely LOVE videos of you working on your car, but could we possibly get videos of you DRIVING your cars? I miss seeing Jasmine, and I wanna see the new K-swap ripppin around.
Does this mean future z track days. I miss my old Z’s burnout champs…. Had a 89 zx and a 04 350 convertible. Best drift cars ever made in my opinion 👍🏻
Hey guys 3 questions ...so the transs is tt and needs tt clutch pedal? Or i can run the non turbo clutch pedal with tt trans? And the drive shaft is tt or non turbo stick shift ? And the ecu is tt stick shift or non turbo 5 speed? Thank you guys
Make Sure you change the timing belt on the car, my brother had a 1990 Nissan 300zx Just like yours and the timing belt went and took the motor with it.
Was supposed to go pick up a 300zx today and on the way there the guy said someone else is coming to get it with a better offer after agreeing on a deal with me and date 😒
Pull the starter and spin the trans over so you can unbolt your flywheel from your torque converter, Jesus dude you said on the s10 video you learned. No messsiesss
Robbie. When it comes time to tune this thing, get ahold of tri county auto in new york. You will not regret it. Even if you dont go there, mike'll tell you what exactly you need to make some reliable big power with this girl.
robbie i hope you see this. back when you were working on jasmine when she was still red, and you and videos of you and the boys just boosting around town, it was so entertaining. what happened to all of that?
Cause this car was over built and full of electronics ahead of its time... and that's what wrong with it 😂 its so the car knows when you press the clutch for reasons like starting only when the clutch is depressed!
It should be fine, we swapped the entire thing front and back, and it was good in the car it came off of! If I notice anything weird tho I'll have to do it!
@@RobbieFerreira alright just looking out. I recently got a replacement driveshaft for my bmw and everyone (forums) told me to get it balanced first because it balances as a whole instead of individually.

Why don't you drain transmissions before pulling them ? Like every damn time you don't do it and fuck everything up

it's funny cause most of the kids saying "ew it's auto" have probably never even driven stick before lmfao
I don't mind it being an auto unless it doesn't want to shift and stays on the red line for 3 sec

Wild for wearing that white tee in the shop. Also amazed it wasn’t more trashed.
Also look into getting a motorcycle floor Jack for dropping the trans way better than using regular floor Jack

Why do I have a feeling that they didnt put the pilot bearing in?
Agreed, that is why the clutch was misaligned the first try.
The giant donut is just a centrifugal clutch that moves the car or transmission under fluid pressure once momentum and inertia increases
sooo... magic.
Nah its just magic
Works by using fluid coupling
