Just a small tip when wire wheeling the crusty bits, is after grinding you should wipe it down with and the just spray some paint to seal it and it will help keep it from rotting when moisture builds in the early am and springtime. Been working on Toyota and Subaru's for 30 years and its what we do in the north east when Rust/cancer is a major concern on the untreated JDM cars. I personally go 1 step further and Wolwax my FJ cruiser each fall in prep for winter months. Great work on this build and I love that you describe what your doing. A lot of people will learn a ton from this! You gained a Subscriber

I cannot wait to get into this full time once my lawsuit finishes for my accident. I am going to build a garage and start going to town on 90s shitboxes. Loved this video. First time i have watched a youtube video over 40 minutes start to finish in one sitting. Thanks again for the work you do man, its my favorite thing on this platform. Keep it without a spoiler bro, looks so much more sleek. I do like the spoiler you picked tho, so if you gotta have it I think it'll look nice. I had a 94 300zxtt with about $24k worth of mods that I totaled back in like 2006. Had full Stillen Body Kit, a J-spec block from a whole front clip I shipped in from Japan, Greddy Turbos, Nismo cams, HKS boost controller, HKS exhaust.. 21psi boost. Thing was a rocket. Wish I still had it. Be careful cause that rear end will kick out on you real easy once you get some power going. Loved that car, was in the shop for almsot a year getting that engine swapped and all the goodies installed, dyno tuned, etc. The guys at she shop were begging me to install a RB26 instead of the VG30 but it was gonna be a bit too muc money, came out a lot cheaper to just get the J-spec VG30. Since I got the whole front clip and it was off a low mileage car I had them swap most of the components over. Wish I'd had the money to have them do a right hand drive swap too.. and the RB26 of course 😂. If your car has the Super HICAS system in it, delete that shit asap. Makes the car too squirrely.

  • @MojoWrangler

I had always wanted a 300ZX, mostly due to how they looked and my assumption that they were "fast". A lot of people make that assumption about older RX7's as well...but anyway, I picked up a convertible from a fellow fairly nearby. He was a 'pro flipper' and did all the things to make that POS seem like a nice car. The only things that presented immediately was that it needed one of the top frame braces replaced (and a new top) and the hood and bumper painted. I found out on the way home that the front rotors were warped after they heated up a bit. I went ahead and put new tires, new brakes, new top brace, new PCV and a bit of troubleshooting for the Cali emissions that were on it. I took it to a shop and had them correct the paint and ended up with what I thought was a great looking car and of the assumption that it also was going to run and drive well. HA!
Two weeks later the AC went out. The power steering blew out the rack seals as well as the pump almost the same day. I opted to pick up a pulley and just removed the air and the power steering. The car ran semi well but just never had any power. Took it up to a local specialist out by Douglasville that charge an arm and a leg to even look your cars way, much less fix anything. I had to hunt around for someone with the proper scanner and ability to fix some further emissions issues after I told them to fuck themselves on principle. Other nagging issues kept creeping up, had to replace the fuel pump and sock, and kept having issues with the car randomly losing spark on crank only. Got most of that straight when the rear tail light plastic fell apart and the only source led me back to the specialist I had told to do something anatomically impossible.
I hadn't gotten the top repaired yet and was only driving it in nice weather. It was a sure fire head turner gloss black on black leather interior (converted from white). I went out one day to take a short drive and the no spark issue presented again on a brand new set of plugs and coils and I had enough. I listed it for $1400 on CL and had it gone in hours. I lost about 10K on that POS and will never look back. Sort of sad in that I like Nissan in general, but a Z car? NEVER again.

You guys working in your driveways are crazy, our municipal laws prohibit us doing that and I fully agree with them, the house will look like a scrapyard otherwise if you let these people loose.
You are doing some sketchy things with this car, I would not deem it safe or reliable by any means, that being said - I think it's a pretty cool build man, for such a young man you have serious skills.
Good luck with your future builds.

Props to you for putting in all the effort to make that thing work properly. Aside from some things you're going to iron out later on, the build is nice man, again props to you. Hope you enjoy the car for years to come. i know getting rid of that rats nest of wires for the original engine makes working on that thing much easier.
