did you do it with only a jack and jackstands? normal hand tools and such? any cutting or anything involved? ive been thinking of manual swapping my legacy but im almost positive i dont have all the right tools for it.
Tyler Grayford yeah just had it on jack stands. Personally I didn’t have to cut anything but you may need a torch or grinder to get some rusted bolts off. Otherwise it’s a direct swap everything bolts up and mounts unlike robbies swap. Wiring isn’t difficult if you find the correct pinouts. Just need some basic 12 gauge wire and crimps
I still think the regional difference in transmissions is fascinating. I'm living in Europe hand have never in my entire life sat in an automatic let alone driven one.
To solve the brake pedal problem Robbie. Since it’s too big and wide. I would just sawzall it in half or shorten the brake pedal pad itself lmao. Would work for the mean time
Just so you know what the parts are called, the brake pedal is hooked up to the brake booster which is hooked up to the brake MASTER which pushes the SLAVE. Same concept for your clutch. The pedal pushes on the master which in turn pushes on the slave
@@emiliano29171316 im not, when we went to australia 5 years ago, we literally got there 5 hours early and he kept on checking on my passport and ticket. i downloaded youtube vids for the flight but i finished them all before the flight
Emiliano why you sat here doubting something you don’t know shit about. He experienced it first hand, and you are the one say he is incorrect, lmao get out.
normally you unbolt the torque converter bolts where there will be an inspection/cover plate at the front of trans and you can get a socket in to get those bolts and get a breaker bar on the harmonic balancer to turn the engine over to get the rest of them and the torque converter will just come out with the trans . But you got it done your way might just save time if you ever do another auto trans
You don't have to drill the trans mount brace. There are pre drilled threads in the chassis already under a tape. Peel tape off and flip the trans mount brace and it will align with the bolts
Can you tell me what you did to the parking sensor from the auto shifter? Also did you keep you auto ecu and tcu plugged in or did you put in a manual ecu because I have both sets. Just not sure how to get either to turn the car over. We the switches on the clutch even be used?
I’m really glad you are swapping the transmission specifically on the genesis. My friends sorta belittle me for driving an automatic. So watching this definitely gives me insight. Keep it up ‼️‼️
Save the manuals! It's good to see you making progress on the Genesis. I recently purchased a manual car to be my new daily - a 2007 Mini Cooper S, 6 speed manual. It's a fun car to drive and it handles well. I missed shifting through the gears and having that extra control over what my car does. Also, with my new ride being a manual, less people will even ask me if they can take it for a test drive. Keep producing the content, I look forward to watching your videos, every time I see that you've posted something else.
Honestly, im rebuilding my car and my brain has been racking on how the clutch pedal attaches to the clutch/pressure plate. Like I have no idea how it works lol
So my bro works for a major car company and basically they all use what are referred to as platforms. Each platform has generic placement bolts/mounts for various options and they usually come with swappable add-ons. So the auto chassis might then have a standard firewall plate which has all 3 pedal locations stamped in. Where as the manual chassis would have the mounts/holes for the longer/deeper configuration. Pretty common actually. It's also why a lot of parts from different companies all swap to each other.
I've had mine for 3 years now and I love it! If you do go brz I would definitely do new headers and tune 1st mod but like robbie said its totally up to you! I have also found that the brz comes apart like a lego everything is extremely simple to work with
Wow, I only started watching you since your karma build but you are very knowledgeable and confident, even your last video impressed me. You really know how to do custom work and the amount of different things you can do is fascinating. Keep up the great videos! - Another BC Guy

Typically you take the torque converter bolts out before you take the transmission out. And if you're having trouble again put a big 1/2 breaker bar on the crank bolt and hold it while you loosen the torque converter bolts

You need to take off the starter to be able to get to the bolts from the starter hole, and rotate the engine by the crank go get the other bolts. And then the torque converter should slide off
Hey Robbie, I work for Hyundai Customer Care, it is a Hyundai thing. Hyundai is super stingy with their parts and want everything to be sourced through their dealerships. We come across situations for older cars where parts just don't exist anymore because Hyundai no longer supplies them and they didn't let the aftermarket/ replacement market support it.
BRO! you kinda make it look easy for a swap. i just bought a 14 coupe 2.0t 130,000 miles drove it home less than 100 miles and engine blew! looking at doing a swap as well. any suggestions would be dop!
I love how some people who drive manual cars make fun of automatics. I live in Houston where during rush hour it takes me at least an hour to drive 15 miles (to and from work, so 2 hours in total just for 30 miles). And on top of that there is always traffic. Even manual drives can admit that it SUCKS driving a manual car in that condition
Love your enthusiasm! I’m considering buying a manual Genesis with a bad motor and a damaged automatic Genesis for parts. Taking the automatic engine and swapping it into the manual should be a breeze compared to what you guys pulled off (I hope!) Great video!! 👍😇
