I do French seams also. When I trim the selvages off, I fold the pillowcase in half and then trim both selvages at the same time. Love your tip on the directional prints. I have never done that before. I have used the French seam method with my grandkids and former FACS students! 😊
Thank you for the demo and showing these alternate ways of making a pillow case. I loved seeing the "burrito" method and the french seam. Great job! You are all so kind to offer free videos. I appreciate it!
Love how calm you work your demo's. I get worked up as I sew I don't know why. Any suggestios on how to slow down and not get stressed. I have lowered my speed on my machine. Thank you I just love RBD's Fabric's are always beautiful.
First time seeing your video, you explain very well but what size did you make for the video? Would it be possible to get dimensions for twin, queen & king size pillows? Looking to make them for Christmas presents.
Standard Pillowcase Size: 1. Pillow Body: 27" x WOF (width of fabric, about 41") 2. Cuff: 9" x WOF 3. Accent Strip: 3" x WOF Queen Size Pillowcase 1. Pillow Body: 30" x WOF 2. Cuff: 9" x WOF 3. Accent Piece: 3" x WOF King Size Pillowcase 1. Pillow Body: 36" x WOF 2. Cuff: 9" x WOF 3. Accent Piece: 3" x WOF
Cindy - Are the sizes of the cut pieces for a Standard Size Pillow? They look bigger than that to me. Also, what size would the pieces be for a King Size Pillow?
To make a simple standard pillowcase, no extra trims, what would be the dimensions of the cut piece before sewing? Sew 3 sides, 4th side has a hem 4.5 inches deep.
Hi there: We just added this info to the video description above. Directional Pillowcase yardage: 1.25 yards of fabric 1.5 inch width of fabric flange Non-Directional Pillowcase yardage: 1 yard fabric 9 in width of fabric coordinating fabric 1.5 inch width of fabric flange
How much fabric do you buy for the Queen and king size pillow’s, I know you said 1 1/4 yards for a standard pillow case just curious how much yardage for the Queen and king? Thank you so much, might have to make these for Christmas.
Why not cut the directional fabric a bit longer and cut the front and back apart, flip the upside down one right side up and sew the fabrics back together? Yes, it’s an extra step, but then both sides are going the same way.

How did any one follow these instructions. Very confusing working the two cases at the same time. All that moving around of the fabrics---nuts. I make these cases all the time and there is none of this confusion. I'm not impressed with this presentation/instruction.
I have watched Shabby Fabrics and The Crafty Gemini so I was able to follow along. I was watching this hoping to see how to put together the directional fabric so it looked correct
Well I am certainly disappointed . The reason I started watching this video is because I have quite a bit of that directional fabric and I had to figure out myself how to make it look normal. Sure I did learn one thing about having to have one and a quarter yards but she really should’ve shown us how to complete the project. I’m just wondering at which point do you cut your fabric? I will have to make a tiny mockup. Also I have made so many of these I can’t even begin to count and I will tell you that when you were pinning the cuff and the accent piece and the main fabric you want to start pinning in the middle and work your way out to the left and right side not like how she was doing it
Did not know to trim my french seams to 1/8 inch before next seam….Thanks! Learned about directional. This was a helpful video for me.
I love that you showed the three ways. I always wondered how to make the pillowcase with a directional print. Now I can. Thanks!
A french seam would look beautiful to finish off a pillow case.
Thank you. Cindy, for this pillowcase video for both inspiration AND INSTRUCTION❣️💕

Love your fabric choices, I’ve made Christmas pills for my family. Lots of fun in the process. Thanks for sharing yours. 👍❤️😊

Shabby Fabrics has an excellent video on this
Very good video. Happy you showed everyone how to sew a French Seam to finish the inside of your pillow case.🐝
Thanks so much for the demo! I just love the French seam! ❤️
You always do an excellent job on your demos. Thank you so much❤️❤️
Really like those pillow cases. Thanks for the demonstration.
Thanks for refreshing my mind on doing a pillar case. 🙏
Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I appreciate the time it takes to show us all. Thank you and hugs
I found this video very helpful. I've never done french seam before so will give it a try! Thank you!

Thank you for the video. I like the French seam too.
I had a hard time getting taco filling out 😞 like your vid will try again 🌹
First time seeing your video, you explain very well but what size did you make for the video? Would it be possible to get dimensions for twin, queen & king size pillows? Looking to make them for Christmas presents.
Shabby Fabrics has a video showing the cutting sizes for all different size pillows. Their video is much less confusing than this one.
Standard Pillowcase Size:
1. Pillow Body: 27" x WOF (width of fabric, about 41")
2. Cuff: 9" x WOF
3. Accent Strip: 3" x WOF
Queen Size Pillowcase
1. Pillow Body: 30" x WOF

3. Accent Piece: 3" x WOF
King Size Pillowcase
1. Pillow Body: 36" x WOF
2. Cuff: 9" x WOF
3. Accent Piece: 3" x WOF
@@kathybonham2985 except that I think I will try the 1.5 “ for the accent piece
@@ShadowMoonFarms Yes, I prefer Jenn at Shabby Fabrics, I was hoping to see how to fix that directional issue
Perfect!!
So helpful love this
Thank you for showing this!
yes, easy gifts for someone who has everything or a last minute birthday gift for children.
Great Video! Thank you.
Thank You!!!
Nice prints
Lovely
How would you get the directional fabric running the same on either side of the pillowcase please?
Cindy - Are the sizes of the cut pieces for a Standard Size Pillow? They look bigger than that to me. Also, what size would the pieces be for a King Size Pillow?
27 standard, 30 queen, 36 king for body plus 9 inch cuff
All wof
Great job. I get a little extra and make king size.
Lovely Thank you!
Great tutorial! What stitch length did you use?
Thank you🌻
A question about the flange/trim...is it pressed toward the opening or toward the body of the pillowcase?
Very nice video. I'm curious about the ruler you are using. Can you give me information?
Hi there - They are Cute Cuts™ Rulers by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet.
To make a simple standard pillowcase, no extra trims, what would be the dimensions of the cut piece before sewing? Sew 3 sides, 4th side has a hem 4.5 inches deep.
What kind of ruler are you using
Where did you get your large ruler?
Is this a standard size pillow case? Thank you.
Hi there: We just added this info to the video description above.
Directional Pillowcase yardage:
1.25 yards of fabric
1.5 inch width of fabric flange
Non-Directional Pillowcase yardage:
1 yard fabric
9 in width of fabric coordinating fabric
1.5 inch width of fabric flange
What ruler are you using for cutting WOF? It looks much thicker than mine which I would like. Thank you!
How much fabric do you buy for the Queen and king size pillow’s, I know you said 1 1/4 yards for a standard pillow case just curious how much yardage for the Queen and king? Thank you so much, might have to make these for Christmas.
Check out Shabby Fabrics “Magic Pillowcase” I’m pretty sure she gives dimensions
where can I find the length or different sized pillowcases>
What would the measurements be for a king size?
I’m assuming that the 9” and 1 1/2” pieces are WOF.
Yes they are
Where can I find a printable pattern for this?
Scroll up in the comments, someone wrote it out
Why not cut the directional fabric a bit longer and cut the front and back apart, flip the upside down one right side up and sew the fabrics back together? Yes, it’s an extra step, but then both sides are going the same way.
Confusion
What is the size of the pillow?♥️

I completely agree; I can’t even finish watching it! She is not very easy to follow - quite annoying actually.
Yeah, She should do one at a time
She has so many side directions instead of focusing on what has to be done.
@@sonjabowie796I agree also. Not a great tutorial at all, especially for a beginner.
Very confusing video….?
You should have done, one at a time. A. bit confused.
It. should be done one at time, beginner.
❤
Suggestion, even beginners dont need to see so much pinning. Skip or have a premade sample
Pinning is good & increases accuracy!
@@lizzystitch4842 That’s not what they were referring to. Not showing the entire pinning process cuts down on the length of the video, that’s all 😃
I've never heard anyone say "flahnge" before.

Too complicated I have many easy patterns geez louise
For a beginner you do not explain very well
Don't make kids sleep on skin ripping quilting fabrics. Please buy real pillow cases for their tender skin. Sheesh!
My kids grew up on pillowcases hand made. Their skin is great. We make these for children's hospital all the time. They love em
You must not be sewing with Riley Blake designs fabric:)
My granddaughters will only use my handmade pillowcases. I use quality 100% cotton or flannel.
Point me in the direction of finding good quality cotton other than quilting cotton. I agree, the quilting cotton does have a different feel to it
If you cannot say something nice……
Thank you ❤
