🚩 Do you have a strong or weak grip?

Slightly stronger grip with a moderately cupped wrist. Nearly wrecked my left wrist this year trying to bow it like Dustin. I am happy to learn more about the relationship between grip and wrist condition.

Great video. I went for lessons and the instructor said 'I don't care about your grip, it's just how you hold the club'...worst advice ever. I tried for 2 years to move to as weak a grip as possible and bow the wrist...I had some limited success when practising a lot but it was so unnatural and contrived. With less time to practice my game fell apart and I developed a wild 2 way miss and my handicap blew out 7 shots. I developed an understanding of matching my grip and swing and just spent time working on a grip that felt like a natural match up to my swing. As a result, I moved to a quite strong left hand and feeling 'natural' at setup. I went from struggling to break 100 to low 80s in two rounds. It feels natural, the club face gets square, I get my hands forward, less fats and thins, and nearly never miss right.

I have a bone to pick with that instructor! Fantastic result in the end! I'm glad you were able to self access and match the two.

Neutral to weak. My old instructor told me to have a strong grip and I never listened tbh. I'm deffo gonna try again now understanding the outcome 👍

I'd love to hear how you find the change in grip! Good luck 🙌

Thanks for this. i have a strong grip and play great with a cupped wrist but try to flatten it because all instruction tends to suggest I do so. Needless to say I get to see all the undiscovered portions of the course

You and me both! If your grip matches your cupped wrist you might not have the 'look', but you can still hit great shots.

Fairly neutral with minimal adjustment of lead hand based on ball flight.

I would fancy myself a pretty good iron player but I have the yips with a driver due to the excessive need to forward press at address due to my strong grip. Would cupping the wrist at address help with reducing the forward press and help the backswing by just maintaining the cup as I rotate back?

I think you are spot on there. I have a whole series of videos with Kyle Berkshire coming out in the next 2 weeks that should give you some great tips.

Strong grip with the gravity golf swing forces your body to move correctly

Hey! So I have a strong glove hand but a flat wrist at the top so the club looks shut. Are there major downsides to playing this way? I find that my contact is much crispier this way. I tried to make my grip more neutral but wasn't compressing the ball the same way when compared to shut clubface at the top

If you are hitting consistent shots like this, then do not change it!
